Loki wasn't mind-controlled, he was INFLUENCED at best. Being influenced does not mean you don't have any responsibility for your actions. We don't excuse people who are violent while drunk because "they were influenced by alcohol, it is not their fault!"
1. Didn’t say he was mind controlled, said that some like that interpretation,
2. honestly I’d like to see you prove he wasn’t mind controlled
3. Didn’t say Loki wasn’t responsible for his actions,
4. also didn’t say being influenced by something makes you less responsible for what you do
5. People do actually use that excuse quite often (I’m not saying it’s a reasonable one, it depends on context honestly)
6. Terrible comparison. Loki was forced into being influenced and didn’t know it was happening.

Bodyguard III: Avengers Assemble (Chapter 5) (B. Urie x Reader)
Detention section. S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier.
Loki paced back and forth inside his glass cell. Suddenly, he stopped.
“There’s not many people that can sneak up on me,” he remarked before turning around and seeing Natasha standing on the other side of the glass.
“But you figured I’d come.”
“After,” Loki amended with a slight raise of his brows, “After whatever tortures Fury can concoct, you would appear as a friend, as a balm.” He stepped forward. “And I would cooperate.”
Cutting right to the chase, Natasha responded. “I wanna know what you’ve done with Agent Barton.”
“I’d say I’ve expanded his mind.”
The Black Widow swallowed. “And once you’ve won – once you’re king of the mountain… what happens to his mind?”
The God of Mischief squinted and smirked tauntingly. “Is this love, Agent Romanoff?”
“Love is for children,” she spat, folding her arms over her chest assertively, “I owe him a debt.”
Loki moved to take a seat on his bench. “Tell me,” he encouraged.
Exhaling softly, Natasha pulled up a chair from nearby and sat down, beginning to explain. “Before I worked for S.H.I.E.LD, I, uh… well, I made a name for myself. I have a very specific skill set. I didn’t care who I used it for, or on. I got on S.H.I.E.L.D’s radar in a bad way. Agent Barton was sent to kill me,” she titled her head to the left, “he made a different call.”
Thrilled by her words, Loki enticed. “And what will you do if I vow to spare him?”
Natasha scoffed, knowing full well what the menace was alluding to. “Not let you out,” she shut him down.
Loki laughed, leaning forward. “Ah, no. But I like this. Your world in the balance, and you bargain for one man?”
The agent raised one brow and rested her palms on her knees. “Regimes fall every day. I tend not to weep over that; I’m Russian… or was.”
“What is it you want?”
“It’s not really that complicated,” she shrugged lightly, “I’ve got red in my ledger, I’d like to wipe it out.”
“Can you?” Loki snapped, his entire demeanour shifting, “Can you wipe out that much red? Drakov’s daughter? São Paulo? The hospital fire? Barton told me everything. Your ledger is dripping, it’s gushing red, and you think saving a man no more virtuous than yourself will change anything?”
The god stood up angrily, glowering as he proceeded with his outburst. “This is the basest sentimentality. This is a child at prayer…PATHETIC! You lie and kill in the service of liars and killers,” he remarked, referring to S.H.I.E.L.D, “You pretend to be separate, to have your own code, something that makes up for the horrors. But they are a part of you, and they will never go away!”
Loki moved swiftly, slamming his fist against the cell and making Natasha flinch. “I won’t touch Barton,” he growled lowly, in true villainous fashion, “Not until I make him kill you! Slowly. Intimately. In every way he knows you fear! And then he’ll wake just long enough to see his good work, and when he screams, I’ll split his skull! This is my bargain, you mewling quim!”
Natasha turned around, body trembling, and walked away from the cell, disgusted. “You’re a monster,” she whispered distraughtly.
Loki laughed, pulling back. “No, you brought the monster.”
“So, Banner…that’s your play,” Brendon’s voice filtered out from the shadows, startling Loki.
Brendon stepped out from where he’d been listening, and Natasha turned back around, as poised as ever – showing that she’d put on an act the entire time.
“What?” Loki staggered.
Natasha walked over to join Brendon in heading for the exit, as he pressed one finger to his ear and spoke over the comms. “Loki means to unleash the Hulk. Keep Banner in the lab, Romanoff and I are on our way. Send Thor and (Y/N) as well.”
Just before they left the detention section, both agents turned around to face Loki.
“Thank you, for your cooperation.”

Banner’s lab.
You and Fury entered the lab, and were surprised to see that Tony and Bruce had stopped working on the sceptre.
“What are you doing, Mr Stark?” Fury frowned, not at all pleased at the sudden halt being placed on their work.
“Uh… kind of been wondering the same thing about you,” Tony gave a tight-lipped smile.
“You’re supposed to be locating the Tesseract,” you reminded.
Bruce answered you, stepping around the table that the sceptre was mounted on and pointing at a monitor. “We are. The model’s locked and we’re sweeping for the signature now. When we get a hit, we’ll have the location within half a mile.”
“And you’ll get your cube back, no muss, no fuss,” Tony said. Suddenly, his monitor displayed a collection of S.H.I.E.L.D secret files. He looked from them to The Director. “What is Phase 2?”
Out of nowhere, Steve marched into the lab and dropped a Hydra assault rifle onto one of the tables, prompting everyone to turn around. The Captain looked pissed.
“Phase 2 is S.H.I.E.L.D uses the cube to make weapons,” Steve said bitterly, then glanced at Tony, “Sorry, the computer was moving a little slow for me.”
Shocked by the revelation, you looked at your godfather questioningly; you’d had no idea that Phase 2 even existed and quite frankly, you were even more pissed off than Steve was.
More lies.
Surprise, surprise.
Trying to explain, Fury spoke up. “Rogers, we gathered everything related to the Tesseract. This does not mean that we’re-“
“I’m sorry, Nick,” Tony interrupted, moving the computer screen towards Fury; on it, plans for the weapons, “What were you lying?”
“I was wrong, Director,” Steve scoffed, shaking his head, “The world hasn’t changed a bit.”
At that moment, Thor, Natasha and Brendon walked into the lab. Natasha kept her eyes right on Banner, who looked back at her, pissed. It was the same look you were giving Brendon.
“Did you know about this?” you asked him, gesturing weakly at the plans on the monitor.
He clenched his jaw and stared at you blankly.
Running your tongue along the inside of your mouth, you threw your hands up in exasperation. “Of course you did,” you muttered.
“You wanna think about removing yourself from this environment, Doctor?” Natasha said calmly, keeping a firm gaze on Bruce.
“I was in Calcutta,” he countered, “I was pretty well removed.”
“Loki’s manipulating you,” Brendon informed.
Bruce glared at the two agents. “And you’ve all been doing what exactly?”
“You didn’t come here because I bat my eyelashes at you,” Natasha argued, desperate to neutralise the potential threat before it become a sure one.
“Yes, and I’m not leaving because suddenly you get a little twitchy.” Bruce jabbed a finger in the direction of the Phase 2 plans, and raised his voice. “I’d like to know why S.H.I.E.L.D is using the Tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction.”
A beat, then Fury answered, pointing a finger at both you and Thor. “Because of them!”
Both of you were stunned, to say the least, and defensively placed hands on your chests.
“Us?” you questioned in unison.
Fury elaborated. “Last year we had two incidents – both of which resulted in the levelling of a small town.”
You swallowed harshly, averting your gaze down in shame. You knew he was referring to your accident in Italy, and the trouble that had transpired in New Mexico.
“The rest of the world learned that not only are we not alone,” Fury continued, “but we are hopelessly, hilariously, outgunned.”
Switching into defensive mode, Thor stepped up. “Our people want nothing but peace with your planet.”
“But you’re not the only people out there, are you?” Fury clapped back, looking at the god austerely, “And, you’re not the only threat. The world’s filling up with people who can’t be matched, they can’t be controlled.”
“Like you controlled the cube?” Steve harped on.
Thor added to the Captain’s case. “Your work with the Tesseract is what drew Loki to it, and his allies. It is a signal to all the realms that the earth is ready for a higher form of war.”
“A higher form?” Steve frowned.
“You forced our hand,” Fury said flatly, “We had to come up with something.”
Tony piped up, then. “Nuclear deterrent. ‘Cause that always calms everything right down.”
The Director looked at Tony accusingly. “Remind me again how you made your fortune, Stark?”
Steve joined in, looping his fingers in the belt hoops of his suit and moving forward. “I’m sure if he still built weapons, Stark would be neck deep-“
“Wait, wait, hold on,” Tony cut him off, holding out one hand, “How is this now about me?”
“I’m sorry, isn’t everything?” The Captain sassed.
“I thought humans were more evolved than this,” Thor said distastefully.
Fury gave him a look. “Excuse me, do we come to your planet and blow stuff up?!”
“Did you always give your champions such mistrust?”
Brendon rolled his eyes, speaking up. “Are you all really that naïve? S.H.I.E.L.D monitors potential threats-“
“Captain America is on a potential threat watch list?” Bruce raised his eyebrows, showing he thought it was bullshit.
“We all are,” Natasha corrected, referring to everyone that had been recruited.
Overhearing this, Tony looked to Steve. “You’re on that list? Above or below ‘angry bees’?”
“I swear to God, Stark,” Steve shook his head, “one more wise crack-“
“Threatening!” Tony pointed at the Captain, “I feel threatened!”
As your team continued and got caught up in the senseless arguing, no one realised that the gem on Loki’s sceptre started to glow brightly.
-
Outside the Helicarrier, a lone aircraft slowly hovered over the ship. Over the comms system, a voice belonging to one of the agents down at the S.H.I.E.L.D base spoke.
“661 Bravo, please relay your pass code. What is your hull, over?”
Agent Barton answered. “Arms to ammunition, over.”
Standing up, he moved to the back of the aircraft and began suiting up and arming himself, along with the rest of his crew.
-
Back in the lab, the egos of every single person in the room kept rubbing off each other, and it was bound to explode at any moment.
“You speak of control, yet you court chaos,” Thor reprimanded Fury, and no sooner was Bruce joining in.
“It’s his M.O., isn’t it?” he held out a hand in question, “I mean, what are we, a team? No, no, no. We’re a chemical mixture that makes chaos. We’re…we’re a time-bomb.”
“You need to step away,” Brendon warned the doctor.
“Why shouldn’t the guy let off a little steam?” Tony placed a hand on Steve’s shoulder.
The Captain pushed him off harshly. “You know damn well why! Back off!”
Iron Man came face-to-face with Captain America, nodding. “Oh, I’m starting to want you to make me.”
Steve chuckled dryly. “Big man in a suit of armor. Take that off, what are you?”
“Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.”
You cocked your head to the side; it was true, after all.
“I know guys with none of that worth ten of you. I’ve seen the footage. The only thing you really fight for is yourself. You’re not the guy to make the sacrifice play, to lay down on a wire and let the other guy crawl over you.”
“I think I would just cut the wire.”
Steve smiled sardonically. “Always a way out… you know, you may not be a threat, but you better stop pretending to be a hero.”
That did it.
“A hero?” Tony stepped even closer to Steve. “Like you? You’re a laboratory experiment, Rogers. Everything special about you came out of a bottle.”
-
Outside of the Helicarrier, the ramp of Barton’s aircraft opened up as the vehicle manoeuvred next to one of the Helicarrier’s large turbine engines. The agent stood at the base of the ramp, holding out his bow.
Pulling out a grenade-tipped arrow, he pointed it right at the engine. Then, he moved his aim and set it about a hundred feet from the engine. He released. The arrow flew out, but then curved and sharply headed for the turbine, puncturing onto the engine; it had a timer, which was counting down.
-
Steve puffed up his chest at Tony, who just stood there, unmoving. “Put on the suit, let’s go a few rounds.”
From across the lab, booming laughter. “You people are so petty,” Thor guffawed, “…and tiny.”
Tony rubbed his head, moving away from Cap.
“Agent Urie,” Fury called, “would you escort Doctor Banner back to his-“
“Where?” Bruce queried, “You rented my room.”
“The cell was just in case-“
“In case you needed to kill me, but you can’t! I know! I tried!”
A solemn hush fell upon the room, as all of you took in the doctor’s tragic confession. He fidgeted with his shirt, shuffling his feet nervously as he explained.
“I got low; I didn’t see an end, so I put a bullet in my mouth, and the other guy spit it out. I focused on helping other people. I was good, until you dragged me back into this freak show and put everyone here at risk!”
Bruce gradually got more and more upset as he looked over at Natasha, who started feeling unnerved.
“You wanna know my secret, Agent Romanoff? You wanna know how I stay calm?”
Natasha, Brendon and The Director all had their hands ready to grab their guns.
“Doctor Banner…” you said gently, garnering his attention, “put down the sceptre.”
Bruce looked down, and was shocked to see that he was holding Loki’s sceptre. Before anyone could utter another word, the computer let off a beep, and everyone turned to it.
“Got it,” Tony announced, in reference to the location of the Tesseract.
Bruce put down the sceptre and walked over to the computer. “Sorry, kids. You don’t get to see my little party trick after all.”
“I can get there faster,” Tony said.
“Look, all of us-“ Steve argued.
Thor shut them down. “The Tesseract belongs on Asgard, no human is a match for it.”
Tony turned to leave anyway, but Steve stopped him. “You’re not going alone!”
“You gonna stop me?”
“Put on the suit, let’s find out.”
“I’m not afraid to hit an old man.”
At that moment, you – who had been scanning the monitor – noticed something about the Tesseract. “Oh, my god.”
Before you could make a move, a huge explosion rocked the Helicarrier, destroying the structure of the lab and sending your team flying in every direction. Steve, Tony, Fury and Thor were sprawled across the floor of the lab, while the blast sent you and Brendon flying through the glass window and landing in the corridor. The floor under Natasha and Bruce had collapsed, dropping them down into the lower equipment room.
Steve looked up at Tony. “Put on the suit.”
“Yep!”
The Captain helped Tony up and out of the lab, while Fury sat up, clutching at his ribs. He pressed his finger to his earpiece.
“Hill?!”
On the bridge of the Helicarrier, pandemonium erupted as the agents rushed to rectify the situation. Emergency alarms went off, fire extinguishers activated near surrounding fires and everyone was in a spinning scramble for their positions and armaments. Agent Hill tried to keep the area as calm as possible.
“Turn up that engine! Number 3 engine is down! Can we get a run in?” she ran over to Dallon, “Talk to me.”
Dallon pointed to the monitor in front of him. “Turbine’s loose. Mostly intact, but it’s impossible to get out there and make repairs while we’re in the air.”
“We lose one more engine, we won’t be,” Hill said worriedly, then pressed a finger to her ear and spoke over the comms, “Somebody’s gotta get outside and patch that engine.”
“Stark!” Fury called over the comms, “You copy that?!”
“I’m on it!”
Tony and Steve ran through a dim, debris filled hall.
“Find engine 3,” Tony instructed his teammate, “I’ll meet you there.”
Cap peeled off as Tony approached a tech room. Inside, the Iron Man suit stood waiting, lit up in all its glory.
Meanwhile, Fury continued dishing out instructions. “Coulson! Smith! Initiate official lockdown in the detention section then get to the armoury! Move out!”
Following orders, Spencer and Coulson ran out of the bridge.
✧✧✧
Lower equipment room.
Natasha looked over at Bruce, who was breathing heavily, having landed hard. He was gripping the grated floor to maintain control, but his eyes were green, his face intense.
“I’m okay,” Natasha spoke to herself quietly, “We’re okay, right?”
✧✧✧
Helicarrier deck.
Barton led his men into the air ducts of the ship. They rappelled down into a corridor. The agent directed his men, pointing in all directions as he barked orders.
“Get that engine down! Detention! Get him through the dark! You, that corridor! Come with me,” he said to each of his men.
Two of them followed him, and they headed for the bridge.
✧✧✧
Corridor, right side of Banner’s lab.
You and Brendon rolled off of your backs, pushing yourselves up. He instinctively reached out for you, his eyes scanning your body for injuries. Old habits.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
You brushed him off, grunting as you stumbled to your feet. “I’m fine.”
You surveyed the area, taking in the damage and the approaching enemies, and you ground your teeth as you set your sights on the path toward the detention section.
“This shit needs to end,” you muttered, then hurried down the corridor.
Brendon scrambled to his feet, reaching out to try and stop you, but you were too fast. “(Y/N), wait-“
He sighed, turning around and coming face to face with one of Barton’s men. Realising who it was, he exhaled in frustration.
“Oh, you gotta be fucking kidding me.”

Skulduggery Pleasant: Raising Cain - Chapter 9
Chapter 9 - A little crush
“An Echo stone,” Panda said, looking over Stephanie to see the little blue gem.
“What’s that?” Stephanie asked.
“It’s a magic stone that people must stay next to for three days and nights at which point an imprint of themselves at that moment in time, with all their knowledge, is created within the stone,” Panda explained. “They’re very rare and incredibly expensive to get. Whoever did this probably knows what we need, or where to get it.”
Crow nodded. “Exactly.”
“How does it work though?” She asked him, pulling his arm down to inspect it closer. It was incredibly smooth, and she didn’t see any colour change in it. It was a constant, pretty blue.
“No idea,” Crow muttered and gently reached out and poked it with his fingertip. It began to glow softly. “I’m a genius.”
“You poked it,” she frowned.
“Still a genius.” She sighed.
A moment went by and then an old man faded up from nothing besides them. Stephanie took a step back into Panda and he put a hand on her shoulder.
“Don’t be alarmed,” the old man said kindly. “I’m not going to hurt you, young lady. I am here to answer your questions and provide whatever information you need, so long as I - my, oh my,” he said, facing Crow. “You’re a skeleton.”
“I am.”
“As I live and breathe… figuratively speaking, of course, as I do neither. But a skeleton, and a talking one at that.”
“Excuse me,” Panda said, drawing the man’s attention away from Crow. “But I understand Echo stones have very little power in them and we have a lot of information we need from you.”
He nodded. “Of course. I apologise, I get swept up in my own curiosity sometimes. May I ask though, what language am I speaking?”
“English,” Stephanie frowned.
“Oh!” He said and looked as if he were going to ramble on when Panda cleared his throat. “Of course, I apologise again. Quick, ask me something before I get distracted.”
“You’re an expert on the Ancients?” Crow asked.
“I am. I’m the one tasked with documenting their existence. It’s a great honour you know – I got to meet some of their descendants. Three young ladies, not much older than you, my dear, and they were sweet indeed. Weren’t too interested in the Ancients though, more so in the Great Magician’s great-grandson, but they were young I suppose.”
“Yes, well, Stephanie isn’t allowed near boys,” Panda muttered, not so much as grunting when she elbowed him. “Is there a way of defending against the Sceptre?”
“No,” he said. “Nothing in existence has ever blocked the Sceptre, even the Faceless were destroyed by it. That was its purpose after all. To destroy anything and everything in its path. If there were any type of defence, it would have failed its purpose. It is a perfect object, and so nothing can stop it.”
“We suspected as much,” Crow said. “What about destroying it?”
“Also impossible. It would be a way of stopping its purpose of destroying. It cannot destroy if it does not exist,” he said, looking a little bewildered. “Why on earth would you need to know that? Do you want to destroy such an incredible piece of history?”
“Better than it destroy all of us,” Stephanie pointed out. “What about its power source?”
He took a deep, fake breath. “A single crystal, black, embedded in its hilt, capable of channelling the energy that’s poured into it.”
“So can the crystal be destroyed?” Panda asked.
“I’ve thought about it at great detail actually. You see, there is many texts suggesting that it cannot be touched. If you touch the stone, it kills you, unless of course you are an Ancient or a descendant of them. I tried asking those young ladies about it but by this point the Sceptre was nowhere to be found and they had never been in contact with those stones. Then again, if it’s true, they might not have even know, as it would have done nothing to them and they’d of had no reason to take notice of it. I have read one translation of a text that suggested it is possible for the crystal to destroy itself from within.”
“How?” Stephanie asked.
“I er… I don’t really know.”
Panda sighed softly. “Tell us more about the black crystal. Do you know where they can be found? Or if those three descendants had children?”
“I don’t know much of anything about the crystal. It was not written about much, I expect because the Ancients didn’t want others knowing about their power source.”
“Makes sense if it is possible to destroy,” Stephanie pointed out. “If it needs replacing they don’t want others to get in the way.”
Crow nodded. “That’s true.”
“Yes, and I don’t know what happened to those girls. I know one of them married the Great Magicians great-grandson, but I don’t know if any of them had children. This Echo stone was created shortly after their wedding announcement.”
“What was the great-grandsons name?” Crow asked.
“I cannot remember anymore,” he admitted. “I can’t recall if I was ever told.”
“Do you know if the crystal was created or natural?” Crow continued.
“If you’ll allow me to quote from the text that I discovered: ‘The Faceless Ones created the crystals and the crystal sang to the Faceless Ones when an enemy neared. But when the Ancients approached the crystal was silent, and it did not sing to the Faceless Ones, and the Faceless Ones did not know it was taken.’”
“So there is a blind spot,” Stephanie said.
“It looks that way,” he said, nodding. His image grew faint and he held up a hand to see through it. “This is sort of unnerving.”
“Is there any other way you can think of that could direct us to destroying it?” Crow asked quickly.
He shook his head. “The best thing to do is hide it and never tell anyone. Failing that, sink it in the ocean so they cannot get to it. Well, the best thing would be world peace. Failing that, there are references to other weapons of God killing levels that might–”
He flickered and went out before he could finish the sentence.
“We didn’t learn his name,” Stephanie said. “Is that bad?”
“No,” Crow told her. “We got the information we needed, just as the Echo stone was intended. We need to get back together to think. But first I want to go to China’s library and look over her books for any reference to that black crystal.”
“And those other weapons. If they are on the same level as the Sceptre, there might be some reference to destroying them we could try,” Stephanie said.
“True.” Crow got his phone out and texted someone quickly before they left The Vault. They were lead out of the gallery just as two new guards, a man and woman, came in. They had serious looks on their faces and Stephanie tried not to stare – they were vampires after all.
When they got in the car, they all seemed to breathe a little easier. They took their time going through traffic to China’s place on the other side of town. She’d never realised how pretty the city was with all its lights.
They arrived in China’s library at around six-thirty and Stephanie could feel her stomach grumbling. Panda went to talk to China and see if she had anything they could look at as her family had once known a lot about the Faceless Ones, she’d been told, and Crow went straight for the books. With no idea of where she was after only thirty seconds of looking, she just wandered around for fun, and so she didn’t look stupid. She hoped she’d find something on beginner’s magic.
She was trying to work out the ordering system – they weren’t ordered by alphabet, by author or even by topic – when she heard someone come up behind her.
She turned and saw a young, pretty woman with gently curled hair and hard eyes, wearing a tunic that showed off her strong arms, tight trousers and Stephanie wasn’t sure if she had bothered with anything else.
“You look lost,” she said, smiling. She had an English accent.
“Not really,” Stephanie said as the lady put her book back. “If I shout I’ll be found pretty quick after all.”
She laughed lowly as to not disturb anyone. “I take it you’re with someone then. My name’s Tanith Low.”
She hesitated, really wanting to make a friend of the pretty woman. “I don’t have one yet. I guess I’ll have to see you again and tell you.”
Her smile grew to a grin. “I suppose we could do that. If you go two rows over you might find something you want. You’re looking to learn magic right?”
Stephanie nodded.
“Yeah, two rows that way.”
“Thanks,” she said quickly, walking away before she could blush. It wasn’t her fault the damn woman was so pretty!
She found a book where Tanith said and looked for Elemental magic as Wolf had told her it was the best for beginners, though she expected he wanted to teach her a little Adept as well for his own amusement. She read a chapter, got too distracted with her hungry stomach, and laid open the book to try and began trying to lift a page. She focused, opened her hand slowly and then snapped open her palm, just like she had seen Crow do.
Nothing happened.
She made a fist and tried again. The page stayed still. It continued to do that for at least another fifty tries.
“How’s it going?” She looked up to see Tanith and gave her a weak smile.
“I’m too hungry for this,” she said, making a face. “Everyone makes it look so easy.”
She snorted lightly and pulled up a chair to sit across from her. “It takes time and patience.”
“I don’t exactly have a lot of time,” she said bitterly. “And I’ve never had much patience.”
Tanith shrugged. “There’s always the possibility you can’t do magic. It’s one thing to know about it, quite another to be able to do it.”
“I suppose,” Stephanie said. “But I really would prefer to be able to do it. I’ve waited a long time for this. Years.”
“Some bruise you’ve got there,” Tanith said after a moment.
Stephanie looked at her forearm and quickly pulled her sleeve down. “Don’t tell the others.”
Tanith frowned. “Why?”
She hesitated. “I don’t want them to worry.”
Tanith dug into her pocket and pulled out a porous yellow rock. “Here. Break a little off, run it under water. Sit in there a few minutes and the bruises will be gone.”
Stephanie smiled and felt her cheeks getting warm when she looked at Tanith’s face too long. “Thanks.”
She shrugged. “I don’t want to scare you, but this mightn’t be the best time for someone to start learning magic. Bad things are happening.”
Stephanie decided to stay quiet about what she knew. She didn’t really know Tanith, no matter how much she wanted to have a female friend. She didn’t even know what side Tanith was on. “Thank you for the rock,” she said instead.
“Not a problem,” Tanith said. “Us warriors have to look out for one another.”
Crow, China and Panda came around the corner then and Stephanie stood. “Thanks again. I hope I get to see you soon,” she said quietly, and walked to the others.
Panda was looking at Tanith with a closed expression but didn’t mention anything to Stephanie, just put his hand on one of her shoulders with a fond look and they made their way from the library.
“So,” China said, “do you have a name yet, girl?”
“Not yet,” she said. “But I have a few ideas.”

I’ve never seen any of the marvel movies, but my sister really likes them and is obsessed with Loki. She asked me to follow you, so I did, because I want to be able to connect with her. I have no clue what you’re talking about most of the time, but I want to thank you for bringing me and my sister closer.
aww that's a sweet and hopefully you two will remain close. Since you’ve never seen marvel movies here’s some quick summaries on what happens around Loki:
Thor 1: Loki, who is belittled, made fun of, and ignored on a regular basis, finds out he is a frost giant, which are basically monsters that his brother has been trying to kill since he was a child. Instead of explaining anything to him his adoptive father tells him he was adopted as a political tool since he would technically be the prince of the frost giants and then promptly decides to go to sleep. His mother tells him to prove his worth as a member of the family and dumps the throne of 9 planets on him while she is on bedside duty. Loki thinks his brother is going to kill him and also there is a war against the frost giants under way so Loki sends a huge metal man to deal with some people who did treason and also keep his brother away for a bit. Loki also kills the king of the frost giants in order to prove his loyalty lies with his adoptive family. Then Thor shows up and yells at him for trying to kill all the frost giants because he’s a hypocrite and they fight. Thor then places his hammer on Loki’s chest as if it doesn't restrict breathing. Oh, and Odin shows up and denies Loki’s attempt to become worthy so Loki throws himself into space because he’d rather commit suicide than have to live with life the way it is.
Avengers 1: so you know how he threw himself into space with the hope to end his miserable worthless little life? yeah, about that, he lived and got stuck with the option of being tortured some more or attacking earth. oh no, wait, it wasn't an option because the mind stone was involved. so he was forced to attack earth and act like he was homicidal and crazy to make sure no one realised that he was still doing his best to minimise damages and ensure he could be stopped. Thor shows up at some point and grabs his neck before slamming him into a mountain onto his already injured back. Loki makes it very obvious that he doesn't want to be here and isn't actually trying to win the fight but thor, his alleged brother, misses every memo loki waves in his face. Loki gets smashed into a concrete floor by the hulk, a giant rage monster made of 8000% muscle mass, before Thor gags him and takes him to Asgard to be punished for ‘attacking thor’s planet’ and ‘targeting thor’s love interest’ and ‘being jealous’.
Thor 2: Ha! Did you think Asgard has a decent system of justice? Jokes on you! The judge and the jury and the defendant and the prosecutor are all Odin! And you’d think ‘hey so he’s his father right so surely he loves his son a bit and would notice something is up, right?’ well, you’re wrong. Loki gets sentenced to solitary for life, which is 4000 more years by the way, and he’s told his birthright was to die and that the only reason he isn't being executed is because his mother didn't want him dead. 1 year later and its blatantly obvious that his only visitor, his mother, only wanted him alive because she wanted to manipulate him back into the loving family they’ve got going. He snaps and yells at her. The next time he hears about her its from a guard telling him she died and he wasn't invited to the funeral. Thor shows up for the first time in a year and doesn't answer Loki’s question about whether his mother suffered. Thor valiantly offers Loki the option to stay in a cell and eventually die or join him on a mission and die in the process. Loki accepts because he’s still suicidal and grieving and still cares about Thor and Asgard even if that's not reciprocated. So Loki turns up to help and Thor handcuffs him before making fun of the fact that he doesn't like falling because its an experience he could associate will falling into space and getting tortured. Loki saves Thor and his lady friend’s lives before getting impaled on a sword and dying. Thor’s last words to him were ‘i’ll tell father what you did today’ as if Loki’s character arc hasn't been about him trying to prove no one has ownership over him. Thor ditches Loki where he fell and died and since he never returns for the body he doesn't see Loki get up and go back to Asgard and take the throne from Odin.
Thor 3: Loki got Asgard to stop totalitarian-controlling the other realms. He’s been working towards solving racism and focusing the military society on the arts instead. Thor shows up and threatens to smash his head to death. Thor then places his hammer on Loki’s chest as if it doesn't restrict breathing, and then demands to know where Odin is. Loki spends half an hour falling through a portal definitely not panicking or anything because he was falling again but anyways the good news is odin dies in front of them the bad news is thor blames loki for it. Loki spends two weeks trying to stay away from the hedonistic touchy weirdo called The Grandmaster, then Thor shows up and causes trouble and now Loki has to either find Thor or die. Loki gets to fight a legendary warrior but she slams her hand into his face and he starts losing and gets knocked out and then wakes up in her room in chains. Thor turns up and throws a cup at his head and when Loki is volunteering to help them someone smashes a glass on the wall next to him. They fight their way to their destination and Loki tries to save Thor from death and ultimately killing himself but Thor electrocutes Loki and leaves him on the ground convulsing after giving a speech about ‘being more’ than who he is and about how he can ‘do better’ and its basically the worst thought out propaganda campaign ever and no one should put Thor in charge of inspirational speeches ever. Loki turns up to save the citizens of Asgard anyways and then Thor decides Loki should take on a suicide mission. Loki saves the day again and manages to come out alive and gets rewarded by being so graciously given the honour of being allowed to stand by Thor’s side as long as he returns to the abusive family relationship they’ve got going for them.
- Infinity War: you know how loki was tortured before avengers 1? yeah so the guy uses loki’s love for thor against him and then loki ‘sacrifices’ himself but really that was just an excuse to have the guy kill loki.
- Endgame: Time travel so we’re back to Avengers 1 after Loki was defeated. The sceptre’s influence on him is finally gone its very very visible that he has changed in the last ten minutes and Thor muzzles Loki. At least he gets away instead of getting taken to Asgard in this timeline.
