Hello! I don’t care about which format, just whatever works for you!

I’m not sure any of them would mind tbh but imma still try and give them different reactions slightly

Bi-Han has heard of vampires before, but he’s never actually met one and he wasn’t sure how he felt. Vampires came with many complications and if they decided to backstab you, there was a good chance the victim wasn’t seeing the next day. Maybe Bi-Han was worried about this because he’s done his fair share of stabbing people in the back. Maybe he was just being paranoid. He didn’t know what it was but when he found out, he started to distance himself a bit and I wouldn’t be surprised if he said some not so kind words when he found out.

Bi-Han would be very conflicted. His strategist way of thinking would say “keep them close enough so you can watch them. A vampire would be an excellent ally” but the boyfriend part of him would say “they’re your partner. Don’t be an asshole”. He’d land on keeping them close enough so he wouldn’t lose them and letting his brain figure out what to do next as time passed.

Bi-Han wouldn’t be bothered by things like seeing his partner feeding. I don’t think he’d wanna watch the whole thing but if he caught the end of it, he wouldn’t be too bothered. If it was his enemies though, he’d take delight in watching them be torn apart and being used for food. Feeding on him is definitely not happening. He hates feeling like a juice box or like a leech is always on him, so the answer is no. The weaknesses might bother him simply because he thinks they’re stupid. Sunlight? Yeah, now he knew why they lived in an area that was never that bright and why they always did things at night but it was still bothersome. Way more bothersome since he knew what was up. He’s not sure why. Either way, he’d definitely use their strengths and abilities to his advantage. He likes them so it’s not like he’s just using them, but now there’s no hiding things like their super strength so they can unleash it all now. He needs all the help he can get when it comes to the war that’s coming.

Bi-Han isn’t sure about becoming a vampire though. His partner has offered and he’s always said no. Not because he doesn’t want it though. The strength, speed, flight, and all that other shit sounds great. It’d give him a huge boost. But the weaknesses is something he’s not sure he could deal with. Plus, he doesn’t know if he’d stay a cyromancer. He’s grown up with these powers and he doesn’t want them taken away. He doesn’t care what he’d get in return. His answer will stay no, but if he finds out his powers won’t be affected or they’ll be stronger, then there’s a huge chance he might say yes.

He keeps them around for multiple reasons. He’s not a complete asshole and is just using them, but he does have a bigger plot.

Kuai Liang isn’t necessarily shocked. I think Kuai Liang is smart enough to pick up on certain hints but he didn’t let himself believe them. His idea of vampires is skewed by the scary stories his father used to tell but his partner doesn’t match those stories. Vampires are supposed to be horrifying and blood sucking creatures. His partner wasn’t like that. They made jokes and laughed and got in close quarters with people without murdering them. So when they confess to being a vampire, he doesn’t believe them until they show proof.

Kuai Liang, like his brothers, is conflicted now. He’s not sure if he should distance himself in case they turn out to be some manipulative freak that’s tricked him this whole time, or stay close to them. After all, he never sensed any treachery and they didn’t have to confess at all but this could’ve been apart of whatever game they were playing. He’d especially be on edge if this was around the same time Bi-Han was revealed to be a traitor. He’d slowly get closer to them again. He would need time to think and time to watch how his partner reacted. He definitely wasn’t expecting them to be sad but understanding. Thankfully though, at some point they’d be back to normal.

Kuai Liang makes sure to be careful around them now. He doesn’t use his pyromancy when he’s close to them, since fire can kill any person but it’s especially dangerous for vampires. When it comes to feeding, he’s not helping out much. The whole luring people thing just isn’t for him and honestly it’s not his job. You can eat however many enemies you want but when it comes to normal people living their lives? He will not be participating. Besides that, now that he knows the quirks they had has something to do with their condition, it’s weirdly calming. He has answers for everything now. For example, he likes that he knows why they’re so against morning dates. At first it was just something he thought was a bit peculiar. Now he knows the real reason and he likes not being in the dark. After thought; no he’s not being drank from. His blood probably burns their mouth.

Kuai Liang does not want the bite. It’s a definite no. Kuai Liang is someone that is comforted by death. It’s an ending everyone is supposed to experience and after death he hopes he can be reunited with his father and anyone else he’s lost (or the people he will inevitably lose because this is Mortal Kombat). A life that has no ending is unnatural to him and it would defeat the whole purpose of living. You live and hope you make your mark so you’re remembered. There’s no point on doing that if you’ll never leave.

He’s a bit suspicious at first but once that suspicion ends, it’s back to normal for him.

Tomas has only heard of vampires through stories and the media so his idea of them is also skewed. I don’t think he’s as suspicious as Kuai Liang though. He’s mostly confused. Why lie to him? How long have they been alive? Why choose him as a boyfriend? What other abilities do vampires have? Have they ever used their abilities on him? Did they ever think about about drinking from him? It quickly becomes a game of 20 questions and that’s not even enough to fill his curiosity. He had to know how much he thought he knew was true and how much was fiction. He had to know why he got picked to be their boyfriend out of everyone, especially if they’ve been alive for thousands of years.

Tomas doesn’t pull away as much. Sure, he needs a minute to think but he does that by their side. There’s no real point in pulling away. They might leave and he didn’t want that. The best course of action was to think about what he wanted while still being near them and asking for space on days where he needed it. At some point he’d decide he still wanted them and they’d go back to normal. He’d probably come to this conclusion quicker than the other two. Tomas mainly care for if he feels appreciated and loved. He doesn’t care much for species or other trivial things.

Tomas is mainly fascinated with having a vampire partner. I mean, come on! They can fly! He can too but that’s not the point. Vampires have such interesting powers and they can differ depending on who it is. He’s gonna ask 50 million questions with little to no shame. He’s just very curious and he’s especially curious about how they even became a vampire. If it was traumatizing then he’ll drop it until they’re ready to share. As for feeding, he doesn’t ask. He knows it’s probably random humans being drank from and he doesn’t really wanna know about that. When it comes to drinking from him, the answer is no. I know I’ve said no for all of the, but I don’t think any of them would like being someone’s source of food. Plus it would tire them out and they have to be at their peak at all times.

Tomas isn’t sure if he wants the bite. He’s someone who is also comforted by death and the idea he’ll see his lost loved ones at some point. At the same time being a vampire would be cool and it’d let him spend forever with the person he loves. The answer would be no at first, but as he gets older he knows he has to make a choice. He’s just not sure what that choice will be. He’d give himself a time limit. Something like “I have to make a definite decision by the time I’m 40”.

Adjusts to it easier than the others. He has 100+ questions to ask but it’s Tomas so who’s bothered?

Overall, they still care for their partner and end up keeping them around even if it’s for different reasons. These men have magic. A set of fangs may spook them but they’ll get over it

i’m having thoughts about my boy

• William Andrew Solace was born in Texas but has tempratlily lived in and been too; New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nevada, California, Washington, New York, and later on in life Massachusetts and Maine. The only states he vividly remembers when he was young was New Mexico and Nevada, as they spent the longest time there besides Texas.

• Will left to camp when his mother stopped in new york and a monster attack very close to camp happened and the nearest satyr recognized him as a half-blood, dragging him with the other demigods (i headcannon one of them was Drew And that’s how those two met) and was introduced. He found his mother again and was able to stay there after some plot stuff i will flesh…later.

• cat person he is such a cat person he’s a golden retriever boy yes but he’s a cat person i’m sorry i’m right i am i know him he told me

• Will did get bullied when he went to a public school for a short time in new Mexico for being/acting “Gay” and it stuck with him a bit as he was worried what camp half blood would be like. but the camp was very friendly and he adapted fairly quickly after his siblings supported his coming out

• Will is Bi to me, and i feel he figured out fairly easily. Naomi wasn’t as religious as her parents and her traveling gave her a wider world veiw, so she wasn’t exactly homophobic but didn’t really let will know gay people existed. he kinda just got context clues along the way.

• Will came out to naomi when he was 14 and she accepted him, after some suprise and tears. it was confusing for both of them but she wasn’t angry.

• Will goes though whipped cream like a maniac. he puts it on everything. everything. i don’t know where i got this headcannon from but it’s mine now it’s my baby his favorite dessert is literally just reddi whip striaght into his mouth and nico is always absoloutley horrified whenever he finds his boyfriend straight up drinking reddi whip out of the fridge after a late night at the hospital wing.

• WORKAHOLIC!! BIGGEST WORKAHOLIC!!! EVER!!! does NOT take breaks does NOT talk about his own feelings. major case of therapist friend with no therapy

• Nico summons skeletons to help will with studying sometimes, hey, it’s better than a textbook

• Due to all the Shit He’s Seen, will isn’t really freaked out by nico or macabre at all. as to contrast, nico hates medical stuff and finds it kinda freaky

• Will has a very Work for what you get attitude and seeing his mother scrape by and work herself up made will similarly hardworking, independent and self sufficient. But he’s also a stubborn bastard who would rather take and remove a bullet then let someone help him either work wise or financially. It got even worse as he became the head of his cabin so much younger with so many younger kids to take care if

• Living in new mexico for as long as they did Naomi decided it was a good idea to have will learn at least some spanish when he was young and he picked up on it nicely, and decided to continue. he’s fairly fluent now and loves freaking Leo out all the time by talking to him in spanish when nobody else is around and he can’t prove it.

• Did also have a minor crush on percy, but mostly as a “woah look at that guy holy shit” and loved teasing annabeth about it (“If YOU love him so much why do you want us to get her together?” “nooo you guys are my OTP i’m not having that up just because he’s hot” <- COMPLETELY REAL INTERACTION THEY E HAD MHM TRUST ME BRO)

• Wants to pick up on some italian so he can do the same thing he does with leo to nico

• TRANSGENDER AND AUTISTIC IM NOT ELABORATING FUCK YOU ( i do have reasons but this is more fun)

I hope we see more of the Alphas

Final thoughts 

Loved all the Marcone we got. I like that we’re getting more on the ongoing mystery. I hope we see more of the Alphas. I liked the fights and Harry’s detective work. More Bi Harry the counter is going up! We’re up to 6. As with the previous book, I'm not a big fan of the male gaze but I think that’s more to do with the length and descriptions used. Harry (or Jim) will go on for a solid paragraph describing women using words I don’t think anyone would use while with Bi Harry it’s not as long and I can see people using words like good looking or handsome. I mostly glazed over the male gaze bits. I don’t know if my predisposition to Bi Harry and a Harry/Marcone shipper is making those parts stand out or if it’s because I’m actively looking for them to add to the counter. Speaking of Marcone I don’t recall if it’s said why Marcone wants Harry to work for him. Yeah having a wizard on staff is cool he can do magic but surely Marcone knows that there’s more magic people and some are more likely to work for him than Harry. So why does he specifically want Harry to work for him? He tried to get him to work for him three times in this book and once in the previous book. There’s trying to hire someone and then there’s whatever this is. I enjoyed this book. Good book for Harry/Marcone moments. Looking forward to the next book!

Cass thought about this for a moment while lounging on the couch before going, “No.”

“Why not?”

“Just don’t.”

“Okay, but can you give me a reason?”

That response caught Duke by surprise for some reason.

“If I found a way to show you a ghost,” he said finally, “would you believe in them then?”

Cass shrugged. “Sure. You won’t though.”

“Don’t bet on that just yet,” Duke grins, before running out of the room. “Hey, Tim! Jason! You guys free?!”

“He won’t.” Cass waited till he had left the room before getting off the couch and walking off.

No matter what Duke was planning, it couldn’t have been good if it involved those two. It was best she leave before Bruce and Alfred could find her.

“For what?” Cass asks, walking beside him.

Tim snorts at that. “This family has never once stuck together in anything.”

“You dated Steph?!” Tim squealed, horrified at the thought of his sister and his ex being together.

“Yeah, so did you,” Cass said, continuing on her walk. “Didn’t work out though… Aro, remember?”

Tim followed after her. “You dated… wait, what does dating Conner have to do with you being bi?”

Cass blinked. “He’s nonbinary.”

“What?!”

She looked straight up offended at that. “You’re their best friend!”

“Yeah, but I didn’t know-”

“You’ve known him for six years-”

“You know, maybe I really am just as dense as you guys say-”

“Timothy.”

She levelled him a disapproving glare and he put his hands up in defeat.

“Alright, alright, I’m dumb, okay?” He says, and she shakes her head before walking on.

“Not dumb, just imperceptive.”

“Okay, not wholly untrue.”

“Did you at least know… they were flirting with you?”

“What.” Tim breaks his stride yet again before mentally replaying his whole relationship with Conner Kent. “Oh my god.”

“Clueless.” Cass rolls her eyes and continues trudging on.

The Batkids all huddled together in Cass’ room, circling around the remains of what was once her video game console.

“Who broke it?” She asked, levelling them all a scrutinizing glare with her hands on her hips. Her siblings all straightened up, fruitlessly trying to mask their body language from her gaze. “Not mad. Just wanna know.”

There was a long, uncomfortable silence before Duke blurted out, “I broke it!”

“No, you didn’t,” Cass said, before swiveling her head. “Tim?”

He flinched. “Don’t look at me, look at Jason!”

“What?! I didn’t break it!”

“That’s weird, how’d you even know it was broken?”

“Uhh, because it’s sitting right there and it’s broken.” He gestured to the mess of wires that was once Cass’ console.

“Sounds exactly like what a guilty person would say,” Tim deadpanned, before turning to Cass. “We found our culprit.”

“How are you the world’s greatest detective?!”

“Listen, you can deny it all you want, dumbass, but-”

Damian coughed loudly to gain their attention. “Cain, ignoring Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum over there, I think you’d wish to know that I saw Brown enter your room earlier.” He pointed in the gasping blonde’s direction.

“I was just trying to get my hoodie back!” She screamed. “Cass steals my clothes more than Tim does!”

“A truly dreadful alibi,” Damian deadpanned before turning to Cass. “You’re welcome.”

“Okay, first of all, how did you even see me entering Cass’ room if yours is all the way down the hall, huh?!”

“If this is your attempt to incriminate me, I’ll remind you that I have no interest in video games in the first place!”

“Guys, guys, let’s all calm down,” Dick insisted, shushing his siblings. “We’re rich, remember? We can just buy you a new console and forget this whole thing ever happened.”

Cass narrowed her eyes at him. “This your way of… avoiding responsibility?”

“What? No. I just think we should stop blowing this out of proportion and just settle down.”

There was a silence of a total of five seconds before-

“That is exactly what a guilty person would say!”

“What?! No, I would never!”

“We know it! Cass knows it! Just admit defeat and make this all a lot easier on yourself!”

“Yeah just fess up, Dickface, the sooner I get out of here, the better.”

“For the love of- what exactly is your alibi anyway, Jason? Just wondering.”

“That I fucking hate her guts, why would I be in her room?”

“I dunno, maybe to break her console as revenge for all those numerous times she beat you up? Just a thought.”

“Oh, you- at least I didn’t trip and stab my foot on a Bataraang! Bitch!”

“Okay, listen here, you-”

“I got the whole thing on camera too, so-”

“Why are we still arguing?! Brown’s guilty, just beat her up and call it a day, Cain!”

“What were you doing near her room?!”

“I ventured out to get a snack, her room is right next to the staircase!”

“A likely story!”

“Stephanie-”

“I broke it, just let me pay for it!”

“This is why none of your girlfriends ever stick around for long!”

“Look who’s talking! Don’t make me send you to the grave a second time!”

A thrown knife. A smashed window. Even more screaming.

“I broke it,” Cass said to Bruce and Alfred when they asked what the fuss was about. “It rigged the game… so I punched it.”

“Your siblings are all suiting up and breaking out the emergency explosives,” Bruce told her, annoyance clear in his tone.

Cass smiled. “Good. Was getting too chummy.”

Do have any ideas how Eddie can be or act creepy?Like I think many people are scared of him by just looking at him.He can probably do some weird and unhinged stuff and because of his unpredictable behavior you don’t know if he’s friendly or he’s about to maul you

Oh gee, my elbows decided to not hurt long enough that I could write a longer post!  …Lol nah, I just wrote it while taking breaks.

…why are we here just to suffer…

Hm, but wait, are we talking just Eddie-Eddie or Eddie with the Symbiote? Bc being bonded with it def can give him a big creepy boost lol. Either way… Lemme try and make a list, from the most mundane to “can somebody call an exorcist please??”.

Over-familiarity. To put it simply, Eddie(especially the classic era) thinks of himself as quite the charismatic guy, with which the rest of the world doesn’t… exactly agree. He kisses strangers’ kids on the forehead, talks about his daddy issues on the first date and invites himself in to help with the laundry. Some will find it friendly and sweet. Some - unsettling.

Morbid sense of humor. It has to be said that (as much as he sometimes also wishes people to look past his rough exterior) Eddie definitely enjoys intimidating people. The problem is that more often than not he’s the only one in on the joke, because for most of the time it’s nigh impossible to tell when he’s serious, since he absolutely can and will (in certain situations) do exactly what he’s joking about. (“Are you scared we’ll eat you?” quips the man known for eating people).

The stare. Eddie is pretty menacing just by the virtue of his build, but what really sells it is his facial expression. You’ve heard of “resting bi*ch face”? Well, get ready for “resting serial killer face”. He’s scowling 23/7 (with exception of 1 hour per week of smiling because he loves his Other) and with those eyebrows of his he sure can give Kubrick a run for his money.

Talking to himself. I mean, for obvious reason, yeah, but I also think he’s so casual about talking to his Other out in the open because he used to talk to himself anyway.

Animalistic body language and behaviour. This one, (I think) comes after the Symbiote. Maybe. Probably not, but you know. Let’s give him some benefit of the doubt. When angry or threatened Eddie definitely hisses and growls at others, bares his teeth… 

Eating bugs. No, I don’t believe this is in any way caused by the Symbiote. Eddie’s just this damn weird. Besides, this isn’t how it works. (however, after bonding with it I’m also headcannoning that he started eating raw meat as a snack).

Seeming to have eyes on the back of his head. Thanks to the Symbiote, unless they’re both distracted, Eddie’s field of view is virtually 360°. Which can be a little creepy at times.

How do I put this nicely… Well, Eddie is a pretty… Intense person. Yeah. And he’s not, well, not great at taking the hint. And respecting boundaries. If he likes you, he REALLY likes you. He has a tendency for getting obsessed with people and can be really pushy, because if he does his best and applies himself surely you will appreciate it, right? Right?? And while this personality trait probably gets amplified when he’s with the Symbiote, it couldn’t have appeared out of thin air. Look, he just doesn’t have many people in his life and sometimes being so isolated makes him compensate in a way that understandably makes others uncomfortable.

This is sth I’ve never seen other people headcanon, but I like to imagine that when Eddie and the Symbiote are, you know, just chilling at a safe location, sometimes they… blur? collapse? a little, like on the physical level specifically? The Symbiote emerges to a certain degree, because Eddie enjoys from time to time having it around in a more corporal form that he can look at and touch, but without the prying eyes of other humans and their human sensibilities, it doesn’t form into anything particularly coherent. So they turn into this really casual, domestic, utterly horrifying body horror varying from black goo oozing from Eddie’s mouth, eyes etc and a full on mess a’la “The Thing”. It’s their version of stretched out sweatpants and holey undershirt.

Those are the ones I came up with so far, but I'm certain that if he'd put his hear into it, he could be even creepier ♥ (lol)

Activity on my first listen: cutting the French tamarisk in my garden (how fitting!).

JON: "Don’t. Touch. Anything." MARTIN: "I wasn’t planning to." [HE GIVES A LITTLE HEH AT THE END.] Fair, after Martin constantly wanted to touch the plastic explosives xD

MARTIN: "You sound like you think they’re beautiful." JON: "Don’t you?" He is what he is, a part of the Fears and does seem in tune with it here. Accepting it (5th stage of grief - acceptance. I do like that theory of each season representing one of the 5 stages of grief, even if S2 doesn't quite fit anger). But to be honest, I also think the flowers sound pretty cool. Some people find morbid aesthetics beautiful. I always have.

JARED: "Not to worry friend; no harm done. Just a bit of pruning will set you right." [HE CLIPS SOMETHING. THE PERSON-PLANT YELLS.] [JARED SHUSHES THEM AS THEY CONTINUE TO DO SO. THEY START CRYING, OVER SOME FLESHY SOUNDS. WATER BURBLES.] JARED: "No real fuss. Should sort you right out. Soon you’ll be good as new." [THE PERSON-THING CONTINUES TO WHIMPER IN THE BACKGROUND.] JARED: "Better, even. You just need to – reach down inside and – really feel that fear. Let it guide how you grow." That however I find horrifying again. Obviously hurting the person, so much that they cry out in pain, and still think that what he is doing is the right thing, helping the person...

JARED: (dismissive) "Oh, and who’s this? Your boyfriend?" [THIS IS CLEARLY MEANT TO BE A DISS.] MARTIN: "Um –" JON: (overlapping) "Yes, actually." JARED: (Ah!) "Oh. Hm." Okay, the obvious here is of course Jared trying to diss Jon using homosexuality/homo-romanticism as an insult (is this btw. the only time homophobia comes up in TMA? There was implied transphobia in MAG 110, but otherwise?), which absolutely doesn't work on Jon and he even immediately answers with full confidence, taking the wind out of Jared's sails in an instant. Which can be a very good strategy against bullies, they want an emotional negative reaction, if you just refuse to give that to them, they will move on to their next victim (sadly for that poor soul). But it also tells a bit more about each character here. Jared has been described as "thick as mud" in MAG 17, that is pretty typical for individuals like that to resort to xenophobia, homophobia, misogyny, etc. But Jon and Martin also tell us something here. Martin was absolutely not sure how to react. As far as I know he's gay, there was never any indication that he's bi or pan, so I'll go with that. He probably had plenty of experiences being bullied for being gay, especially if you take his age into account. Growing up in the 90s/early 2000s was probably not a good time (absolutely not saying it was easier before!). Homosexuality was listed in the ICD-9 in 1977. That is the International Classification of DISEASES!! It was only removed from the ICD-10 in 1990! (Not going into it's record in the DSM because that's only used in the US and we're in the UK here, but it was similarly bad, it was seen as a mental illness.) And additionally 1997 was the peak of HIV and AIDS epidemic and that really fueled homophobia back then. I remember calling someone/something gay was a really common insult back then among teens. So denying his homosexuality especially among unfamiliar and (duh!) hostile people is probably super hardwired into Martin, and he never was someone with a lot of self-confidence anyway (total opposite: Tim for example, of whom we know he's not private about "that stuff" - MAG 69).  And then we have Jon, biromantic. We don't know if he has ever dated men before, but generally being bi means you're probably a lot more likely to be in hetero-relationships, simply because it's a lot easier to find those. Also, I mean he has been raised by his grandma, there's every likelihood he has subtly been raised in a homophobic way and there's a good chance he has tried to rationalize crushes on other men as "a really close friend whom I'm looking up to", even if deep down he knows it's not that. Okay, what I'm saying is he probably hasn't experienced external homophobia towards him. I do like the popular fanon idea, that Georgie helped him work through that, as she seems a lot more confident than him. Otherwise he has probably experienced acephobia or he hid his asexuality well enough and grew up super insecure on the inside without showing it. Which, considering his behavior in S1, is pretty likely for his character. So it does make sense for Jon to show confidence here, given the possibility of him never to have experienced homophobia, usually presenting super sure of himself and also by now he knows how powerful he is in this world, that probably also works very well as a boost. (Also it's super cute how sure and smug Jon sounds, like he's extremely proud about Martin being his boyfriend.)

JARED: "Anyway. Willing. Unwilling. Don’t work like that anymore, does it? You made sure of that." MARTIN: "That’s – not fair." JARED: "And what?" MARTIN: "I – I – Mm, uh –" Ah yes, trying to speak up for Jon, which takes a lot of energy. Makes sense that he's deflating again when more resistance is coming his way.  Also, all the monsters and Avatars seems to know it was the Archivist's doing. Helen is obvious, she has suspected it and watching them this whole time. Oliver could kind of suspected it because the Web sent him to wake up Jon. But Jared here?

JARED: "[S’right.] Don’t really matter now, does it?" JON: "No. No, it doesn’t." Yeah, blaming someone doesn't change anything about the situation that resulted from it.

JARED: "Alright. Well, I’d like to hear about my garden." It's so funny how that somehow inspires, what? Sympathy? Compassion? Pity? in me. Like he loves that place, it means something to him and he wants to hear its beauty one last time. Aside from the plants being human beings suffering, it does sound peaceful here, birds, wind chimes...

Yeaaah, sounds even more like body building. And this one is called Fortisium Reese, fortis meaning strong, fortisium also sounds a bit like fortissimus, the superlative of fortis. Dehydration is commonly used to get rid of that bit of subcutaneous water, so the muscles can be even better visible under the skin. And then the only thing that matters is appearance and ever more and more muscles.

JARED: "Is it really that bad? Seeing what I’ve done here? Or – (heh) Is it maybe that deep down, you think it’s as beautiful as I do?" JON: (*snapping*) "Shut up!" Not willing to let those who he considers a monster know how he feels about it though.

MARTIN: "Are you okay?" JON: "I’m – (*not great*) Great. You?" Martin probably asked because it does seem to take Jon a bit of effort to call upon the Eye to shift its gaze, since he gasped there, when Jared was successfully deleted from existence. But Jon gets all snappy and defensive. Saying he's great when he isn't. He probably expected to feel great, or at least better, but it's doing nothing. Revenge doesn't give him the satisfaction he hopes it would.

MARTIN: (bit of a laugh) "I really thought this one would be messier." JON: "What do you mean?" MARTIN: "Well I mean – he’s a Flesh – thing, right? I thought he’d be all meat and blood and gore and all that." JON: (bit of a laugh) "Apparently not." MARTIN: "He didn’t even put up a fight." JON. "No." Right after Jude who was resisting really hard, trying to convince Jon to let her live, help his revenge arc even, Jared here just accepted what's coming for him. That probably contributed to rethinking the smiting.

MARTIN: "Jon – we are doing good, right? Making things better?" [THE SLIGHTEST OF PAUSES.] JON: "I don’t know if that was ever an option." The smiting is just a selfish act, Jon letting his anger getting the better of him, blinding him.

Liminal spaces in ep 7

“Bully” starts with “Bang, Bang” playing and Charlie looking in the mirror in his room, so we’ve got a mix of moods: upbeat song, but insecure Charlie, which is reinforced when he flashes back to a bad moment with Ben after Tori asks him if Nick is his “boyfriend.” Interestingly, Charlie is framed by open closet doors behind him.

As his dad drops him off and tells him to call if any of the boys does anything nasty, Charlie reassures him with a big smile that “NIck’s going to be there. [He’s] going to be fine.”  Nick is waiting for him outside, in fact, and gives him a big hug in the wide open air where no one else is. 

As they ride down the escalator, they are being a little flirty and Nick reassures Charlie that his friends will be fine — “Ben and Harry aren’t coming.” But the first hint of things going awry happens when they step off the escalator and see both Ben and Harry. I think this is the first time their private bubble had been burst. We’ve seen Charlie look worried before, but I think this might be the first time we’ve seen Nick look this nervous in front of his friends.

As they walk through the pink/blue/purple lit corridor with words like Super Hero and Horror and Scifi written on the wall, Nick tries to draw Charlie away from the group, to reassure him that he didn’t set him up to be hurt. They do seem to manage to resurrect their little bubble. Nick touches Charlie’s elbow and calls him “Char” before he pulls away and they end up laughing together. Their body language is very close even if they don’t actually continue touching each other.

In the theater, we realize they are at a horror film. We are led to believe the horror is on screen and they can walk out, free and clear. In fact it is once they leave that the horror unfolds — Harry starts badgering Charlie. When Harry suggests that Charlie has a crush on Nick, Charlie denies it, so as to protect Nick, and Nick looks like he could cry. He’s clearly upset with himself that Charlie’s doing all the heavy lifting and Nick is just standing by, silently. For the first time, we see Nick’s private little bubble burst. He may not be experiencing the bullying/homophobia first hand, but his movie date definitely did not go to plan.

Outside, on the parking deck, Nick apologizes for his so-called friends. I think this is another first for Nick — actually voicing disdain for the people he hangs out with, even though we saw him say in ep 5 that he wasn’t sure he fit in with them any more. Out in the open, with a wall between him and his friends, this realization is growing teeth. Nick chases after Charlie, to apologize for what happened. Charlie assures Nick that “it’s ok [he’s] honestly used to it by now”. Nick has a sad and horrified look on his face as Charlie turns away.  Charlie having to lie to keep them a secret and watching Harry bully Charlie acts as a catalyst and Nick boils over. 

Then, in the parking lot, after Nick goes back in, Ben Hope just has to have one more dig at Charlie. He pops up, almost like a “jump scare”, and tries to get Charlie to out Nick. When Charlie resists, Ben has to poke a little further with “let bullies walk all over you” as he bullies Charlie.  “I never liked you. I’m not even gay. I just felt really sorry for you.” Ben has to know how much damage this comment will do to Charlie. This time Charlie is not honest with his dad and acts like nothing happened. The real horrors Nick and Charlie have to face are some of their past choices. 

We see two very different interactions in the same space. Charlie is used to the comments, yes, but it doesn’t mean they don’t still hurt. 

Meanwhile, Nick is so very not used to the comments and he is on FIRE. He charges back in through the doorway, backlit in glorious, bi-colored lighting (similar to the lighting at Harry’s party and the bowling alley), and confronts Harry. As at the party, Harry is flanked by all the lads, but Nick doesn’t care. He is leading with his whole heart now and that means standing up for Charlie, consequences be damned. Nick is realizing the tenuousness of the private bubble and he doesn’t like it. He isn’t used to being disrespected and doesn’t think he needs to just put up with it. 

In the car, on the way home, Sarah Nelson asks Nick what happened. Like most teens, he responds with “There’s not really anything to tell.” Sarah is clearly frustrated with this answer, which makes me wonder if Nick had had problems getting into fights before he met Charlie. Nick rubs Nellie’s ears and then tells his mum what happened. He ends with, “I’m just so angry at myself for not seeing that all my friends suck.”  Sarah says “fighting’s not the answer” and Nick replies “I know. He just used a really bad word,” and Sarah says “Charlie’s a really special friend, isn’t he?”  Nick takes a moment before agreeing “Yeah. He is.” He is sorting out his past choices with his current self in the comfort and security of the car with his mom driving. 

The next morning, Charlie seems subdued, both as he wakes up in his bedroom and on the bus on the way to school. As he passes the school gates, he notices Harry’s bloody lip and asks what happened. “Ask Nick Nelson, he’s got some serious anger issues.” Nick is missing, though. The public space of the picnic tables, where he previously started every school day, has changed for Nick. He is clearly no longer comfortable there. 

Charlie walks down the corridor to the classroom, shaken. This is not the giddy Charlie we saw in episode 4 after The Kiss. He slides into his chair and Nick turns and says “Hi”. Charlie brushes right past this greeting (maybe the first time ever?) and jumps right to “What happened?”, pointing at Nick’s black eye. The private little bubble in the classroom seems to be holding up just fine. Charlie is concerned that Nick got in a fight because of him; Nick doesn’t see it that way at all. Charlie shouldn’t “have to be (used to it) People shouldn’t be saying stuff about him at all.” Charlie tries to apologize. Nick won’t accept it. And he says “I don’t even want to be friends with those people any more. … I’m tired of all of them.” And then he lays his head on Charlie’s shoulder for comfort (and we all melt, again). How no one else notices this is only explained by their little bubble. 

Charlie heads to the art room for lunch. Mr Ajayi is absent. The art room is empty. Charlie sits on the floor on his favorite tree, which has blossomed, just like Nick and Charlie’s relationship. Charlie takes his lunch out and puts it away without even attempting to eat it. Charlie is miserable and oblivious. 

Meanwhile, Elle (sitting next to a not-so-subtle rainbow umbrella) and Tao are sitting on a park bench talking about the problem with Harry and Charlie.  Tao thinks it’s his fault for provoking Harry. Elle tells Tao that Harry was in her maths class last year and that he sometimes made comments to her. “Surprise, he’s transphobic as well.”  And then she spills the beans, “I’m not surprised Nick started a fight with him, if Harry was being a dick to Charlie.” Tao asks her outright if something is going on between Nick and Charlie and she says “yes”.  Interesting that this news about Nick and Charlie is coming out in the open air and not through text or whispered behind closed doors. But Tao is hurt and angry to find out indirectly through Elle and that he’s the last of the group to know. (My one comment on whether or not it was right for Elle to tell Tao about Nick and Charlie is that teens, as well as adults, fuck up sometimes. It was a mistake. Let’s hope everyone learned from it.)

At the end of this long day, in bed, Charlie texts Nick that he wants to talk at lunch the next day. It takes Charlie several tries to get the right words. I wonder if it feels more heartbreaking to us because this should be the place he feels most secure, in his bed with his stuffed animal next to him, and yet he’s (over)thinking about his relationship with Nick and how he must be the cause of everyone’s suffering.

Elle pops by Tao’s with a container of cookies and proposes they watch a movie. It is a way for them to connect after the conversation in the park. Tao’s mom tells him to leave the door open a smidge, because moms have to embarrass their kids in front of their friends. But also, could this be the first time that Tao admits to himself that he really does have a crush on Elle? 

In his bedroom, Elle fixes Tao’s “potato” drawing and Tao says he’ll “treasure it always.” Then he says, “sorry about earlier, I know it’s not your fault [Charlie] hasn’t told me.” “I think I know why he hasn’t told me.” Then he goes on a rant about how Charlie is worried that Tao will out Nick and how Charlie doesn’t care about Tao any more because Charlie’s in a relationship now. Tao admits that he doesn’t know why he’s so scared about being alone and Elle reassures him that she felt that way at the beginning of her first term at Higgs, but everything has turned out ok. We’ve seen the two of them have heartfelt conversations in Tao’s bedroom before, so I’m not surprised this one happens here. 

At the end of Episode 7, we have two scenes happening concurrently. One is Tao sitting alone outside at the picnic tables and the other is Nick and Charlie in the lunchroom. This creates a tension between the two situations, but also, it reflects the inner conflicts Nick, Charlie, and Tao are having. Charlie is trying to break up with Nick (thinking this will protect Nick from bullying and/or Charlie ruining his life), Tao and Charlie have hit a roadblock in their friendship, and Nick is struggling with coming out. The cafeteria is a heteronormative environment where it’s hard for Nick to be his authentic self. 

Tao reaches out to Charlie to join him for lunch since Isaac has lunch duty, but Charlie had already agreed to talk to Nick. Tao gets mad and says “Don’t bother. We’re barely friends anymore.” 

Nick finally shows up at the cafeteria table and asks Charlie what’s up. 

Then we flip back to Harry provoking Tao. “Not in the mood for that fight?” “Only if it’s in the form of a board game or a cake eating contest.”  Harry is really in the mood for a fight. He grabs Tao’s “shoe potato” drawing and walks away with it.  Harry invading Tao’s space outside is the last straw for Tao. Tao pushes him down, grabs the drawing, and then throws apple juice on Harry. 

The mood is tense from the eruption of the fight when we go back to Nick and Charlie. Charlie is clearly nervous. “So, I’ve been thinking. About me and you… I’ve been making your life really difficult … so I’ve been thinking, maybe it would be better if we just ….” 

They are interrupted by a kid announcing that Harry Greene is fighting some year 10 by the picnic tables. Nick and Charlie immediately know who he’s fighting and race outside. Nick pulls Harry off Tao and would have happily stepped into Tao’s place, but a teacher pulls Harry away. Tao and Charlie go in a different direction. 

Charlie asks Tao what happened and Tao loudly says “Why didn’t you tell me you and Nick were together? I thought we were friends, but I guess you’ve just forgotten about me. This is all your fault. Just leave me alone.” Tao is clearly quite hurt and he’s throwing the worst barbs because he knows it will hurt Charlie, which we can see when Charlie says “What?” Again, this had to happen outside, where the air could be cleared, so to speak. And it has reinforced Charlie’s perception that he’s ruining everyone’s life.

winter’s heart chapter 28-end

throughout these chapters we see mat thinking “oh i actually like the clothes that tylin forced me to wear” and “i have to make sure she doesn’t get in trouble when the seanchan find out i escaped with damane” and “i’m going to miss her when i go” UGH

“he had seen a da’covale sent for a strapping once...and the fellow had raced to bring the instrument of his own punishment. he had not even tried to delay or hide, much less escape the strapping. mat could not understand people like that.” i want to take this as the narrative implying that mat too has stockholm syndrome wrt tylin, by making him be horrified by behavior in another that he himself exhibits which is a classic WOT move, but i think that’s probably too optimistic.

this whole mat chapter chunk is so emblematic of the pacing slowness. chapter 1 mat makes a plan to escape, chapter 2 the whole plan falls through and he miraculously stumbles into another plan, chapter 3 he waits for the time to start enacting the plan, chapter 4 he starts the plan but it gets repeatedly derailed and we leave his pov with the plan still unfinished. mat’s entire plotline this book has been him trying to escape ebou dar, yet he’s still there by the end of the book and has accomplished nothing.

“the tiny room [thom and juilin] shared” 👀 oh dammit a paragraph later we learn the room has 2 beds. boo.

thom going “what, like it’s hard?” when mat is stunned to learn he’s been talking to seanchan Listeners: “thom coughed and knuckled his mustache, not quite hiding a smile so self-deprecating it all but invited praise.” i love him lmao

after mat unlocks an a’dam collar which we have seen previously is indeed very hard to figure out how to do: “nobody here praised him, though. nobody even looked as though he had done anything they could not!” mat wants to be told he’s a good boy so bad

“a male a’dam? light, if the black ajah had gotten that onto rand’s neck, or the seanchan had...” mat is worried about rand 😭 “those colors whirled through his head again, and he made himself stop thinking about rand. ‘gossip isn’t going to hurt...anybody.’ no colors that time. he could avoid it as long as he did not think about...the colors swirled again, and he ground his teeth on his pipestem.” mat being uno meme stop thinking about rand or draw 25

“‘so i won’t crack my teeth about this a’dam for men,’ he said. ‘i suppose somebody has thought to tell...him?’ colors flashed. maybe he could just ignore them, or grow used to them. they were gone as fast as they came, and they did not hurt. he just did not like things he could not understand.” a) you’re bi and in love with rand and the pattern is flashing neon rainbows at you to make you realize it, mat. what’s not to understand. b) mat is having SO much harder a time Not Thinking About Rand than perrin did and it’s hilarious. in perrin’s chapters he thought about rand like once and was like “huh, those colors were weird” and moved on, mat has been CONSTANTLY running into it throughout his chapters (and i think only 1 or 2 of his instances was a thought that included perrin, the rest have all been rand rand rand). and c) mat advocating for telling rand information that is crucial for him to know and that he could be endangered by not knowing! woohoo! if only somebody actually WOULD tell him this info (thom says they have no way to contact him but elayne and nynaeve will tell him if they think it’s important, i doubt they HAVE told rand but in their defense they do think the a’dam is at the bottom of the sea and is a non-issue - mat and thom also think the a’dam is at the bottom of the sea which is why they’re not too pressed about it).

mat makes a detour to free a sea folk damane and teach her how to unlock the a’dam so she can free all the other sea folk 🥺 “‘i will remember you. you are a great and good man.’ ‘i’m just a gambler,’ he told her.” 🥺

tylin shows up and is weirdly nice and understanding about letting mat run away, prompting: “‘i am going to miss you,’ he said quietly as he pushed her beneath the edge of the bed. to his surprise, he realized that he really would.” ugh!!!! my only consolation is that i know this will result in tylin’s death by gholam, but it seems i have to wait for the next book for that.

tuon shows up and fights mat. we heard in her intro chapter that she’s extremely skilled at wrestling (among other physical skills) and that info pays off here. love the mental image of mat barely holding his own in a fistfight slash wrestling match with this teeny tiny woman, this scene would be fun to see onscreen. also, for my fellow Short King Mat truthers, around aiel in past books he always insisted he was tall for a wetlander, but here with tuon he concedes that he’s “not much above average height.”

egeanin reveals that tuon is the daughter of the nine moons, mat calls her his wife, and to my absolute flabbergastment (not a word but the only one that expresses my feelings properly), decides to bring tuon with them instead of leaving her there tied up. there has not been NEARLY enough character work to convince me that mat in this situation would go “daughter of the nine moons? i better take her with me!” rather than “daughter of the nine moons? i better run the fuck away from her!” it makes absolutely no sense What So Ever. what should’ve happened is that there was some other reason why mat and tuon ended up in a situation where they had no choice but to stick together, and then long after he’s gotten to know her and started falling for her, THEN mat finds out she’s the daughter of the nine moons and at that point chooses to keep her around because he cares for her, not because Prophecy Said So. for mat, “i hate the pattern but it ended up bringing me something i already wanted on my own so maybe it’s okay” would’ve been a much better arc than “i hate the pattern but am going to submit to it for ooc reasons.”

like for real, prophecy said mat would marry her, but he only ends up marrying her because he knew prophecy said so and chose to bring her along SOLELY because he knew prophecy said he would marry her. if he hadn’t heard that prophecy, he never would have married her. he would’ve just left her tied up in the palace and never seen her again. prophecy said so but it only happened because mat knew the prophecy!! i am going crazy, and not in a good way!! this is just the same as min/rand solely happening because min knew it was fated and decided to pursue rand despite not being at all attracted to him. i’ve said this before, but i want “i try so hard to avoid fulfilling a prophecy that i end up fulfilling it in a way i didn’t expect” not “i find out about a prophecy that i do not want to come to pass and yet i actively try to make that prophecy happen now that i know it’s been prophesized.” min i can PARTIALLY excuse because she’s been living with her viewings her entire life and knows very well that they always come true and it’s futile to fight them, but mat “fuck the pattern” cauthon? absolutely not! he would never do this!

of course, since this was mat’s very last scene, it could turn out that in the next book he does decide to run from tuon after all but then gets stuck with her for reasons outside his control.

back to rand, who also accomplishes next to nothing this entire book. i mean, except for cleansing saidin, but the entirety of that happens in the last 20 pages. which is another classic wot thing: book meanders along for hundreds of pages and then a major plot event abruptly happens in the last 20 with very little setup. yes, we’ve heard all book that rand plans to cleanse saidin, but we never saw details of his preparations for it or learned how he was planning to accomplish it. sometimes i get tired of the “rand keeping his plans hidden from the reader until they’re happening” device.

“[rand] sometimes knew more than the people he eavesdropped on. elayne agreed with the pale woman [that andor won’t come to open civil war], for example, and she had to know andor better than any far madding merchant.” independent individual thought about elayne!! and an implication that she and rand might have had a chance to discuss politics during their sex marathon!

lews therin says “sometimes that woman frightens me” after rand has been discussing cadsuane with verin, and rand thinks he means cadsuane but i bet it’s actually verin whom lews therin was referring to because i know in my heart that verin is secretly the baddest bitch in randland, as seen when she would’ve poisoned the alleged baddest bitch cadsuane if cadsuane hadn’t properly proved herself to verin.

Dad Lan providing some advice: “you can never know everything, and part of what you know is always wrong. perhaps even the most important part. a portion of wisdom lies in knowing that. a portion of courage lies in going on anyway.”

aha, rand DOES know that nynaeve’s jewelry are all angreal! they have told each other things! and she now explains to him what some of them do! i’m content.

but not for long, as there’s also the whole thing where the women hung out with cadsuane and forbade lan from telling rand and then got mad when rand knew (because verin told him) why can’t these people just fucking tell each other things???

just my usual check-in to say that i feel extremely violent and heterophobic every time min/rand has even the smallest interaction or thought about each other.

min gets a letter for rand, reads it herself instead of giving it to him, and tries to throw it on the fire before he can grab it because she doesn’t want him to know its contents (someone giving him the address of where to find the renegade asha’man and bait him into chasing after them). i am reminded of earlier when avi accused min of lying to rand and she was like “i don’t LIE to him, i just don’t tell him things he doesn’t need to know” which is of course EXACTLY what EVERYBODY and especially aes sedai do to rand, and time and again this frustrates him and keeps him in the dark about things he should know.

and then rand is like “i’m going off on a secret mission, stay here and don’t tell anyone” and min IMMEDIATELY runs to tattle on him to cadsuane - not before a) throwing a knife to land in the door 1 inch from his face and b) grabbing a strap and threatening to beat him if he didn’t listen to her, of course. i mean, he does end up getting into trouble and needing cadsuane to save him, but it’s the principle of the thing. min really does not trust him a hair more than anybody else does and thinks he’s some stupid, irrational child. and yet fandom would have me believe that she’s his best emotional support.

rand and lan go on a lil father son murder mission! love that! but the asha’man are already dead when they get there and padan fain is lying in wait.

when rand is holding lan who’s about to fall off the roof and pull rand down with him: “‘let go,’ lan said quietly. he looked up at rand, his eyes cold and hard, no expression on his face. ‘let go.’ ‘when the sun turns green,’ rand told him.” 😭😭❤️❤️

nynaeve: “oh light, lan. and rand, too, always rand, but first and foremost always the heart of her heart, lan.” always rand ❤️❤️ heart of her heart ❤️❤️

rand regains consciousness in a holding cell reminiscent of the box 😭 “he could feel himself trembling, as if it were someone else’s body shaking uncontrollably. the walls seemed just beside him, the ceiling right over his head. he had to fight this, or he would be as mad as lews therin by the time anyone came to let him out. they would have to let him out eventually, if only to hand him over to whoever elaida sent...horror added to his shudders as he realized that he was hoping those sisters were closer, were in the city already, so they could take him out of this box.” 😭😭😭😭

“colavaere saighan, who died because he had stripped her of everything she valued” rand all you did was send her to work on a farm, i really don’t think you should feel any guilt over someone who would literally rather kill herself than do manual labor lmao

it is so frustrating to see how our extremely capable 20-somethings are CONSTANTLY belittled and treated as useless, petulant children by the older adults in their lives (cadsuane is doing that to nynaeve here). but i guess that’s how it goes in our world too.

rand is free but clearly his stint in this second box has wreaked absolute havoc on his already-shaky mental health. “he did not feel the chill, though, except as something distant and not really connected to him. he was colder than any winter could be. the guards who had come to take him out of the cell the night before had been surprised to find him wearing a small smile. he wore it still, a slight curve of his mouth.”

“he was steel, and to his surprise, still not hard enough. he had intended sending [min] to caemlyn...he had planned his words, but looking into min’s dark eyes, he was not hard enough to make his tongue form them.” PLEASE send min away i’m begging you. my enjoyment of the books would increase by 200% if she was not with rand. it is SO annoying how min only needs to be here because she has no reason to be anywhere else, and she has no reason to be here either besides “rand’s not strong enough to send her away.” she simply should not exist at all as a character. she has contributed nothing in 9 books except for helping siuan escape, which some other character could easily have done, and revealing vague info about the future that everybody ultimately could’ve gotten by just fine without.

“he trusted nynaeve to link with, but no one else. she was aes sedai, but she had been the wisdom of emond’s field; he had to trust her.” ❤️

infuriating how for channeling, women have to surrender to saidar but men have to conquer saidin. i would like to believe that will no longer be the case once saidin is untainted, but i doubt it.

rand brings them to shadar logoth to cleanse saidin. i think that he’s using shadar logoth’s Other brand of evil to cancel out the evil of the taint, but this whole thing is confusing and i wish the scene had more rand pov instead of hopping around to all these different bystanders watching what’s going on. i want to understand what it is he’s actually doing! one of those scenes that i bet i’ll follow much more easily in a visual medium.

cyndane is definitely lanfear: “she would have faced the great lord - faced the creator! - with [rand lews therin]. she would have shared the power with him, let him rule the world at her side. and he had spurned her love, spurned her!”

i will now admit that i am 95% sure moridin is ishamael, and this spoiler is actually completely not my fault, i found out a while ago because i was scrolling thru ao3 and happened to see the character tag “ishamael | moridin” lmao. i might’ve figured it out on my own by now tho since we hear that moridin “had been mad with power before they were sealed into the bore, and since they had been freed, he seemed to think that he was the great lord” which i thiiiink is something we’ve heard about ishamael before in earlier books. unless it was actually a fic where i read that jfkgh either way, i remember hearing that sentiment applied to him.

book over! let’s break down what happened:

rand: did very little for most of the book and cleansed saidin right at the end

nynaeve: did very little for most of the book and helped rand cleanse saidin right at the end

mat: spent the whole book planning to escape ebou dar but still has not done so

perrin: found out faile was kidnapped and set off to find her

egwene: showed up twice to talk to elayne/nynaeve in tel’aran’rhiod and mentioned that she’s preparing to attack tar valon, which she’s been preparing to do for 3 books now but still hasn’t done

elayne: married bonded avi as her first-sister! showed us what’s what with the current andoran political landscape! survived an assassination attempt! got pregnant! negotiated a deal with borderland rulers!

in conclusion, thank god for elayne lmao

Don’t feel pressured to post this

It baffles me how people used to be and still get so angry about gay,bi,lesbian people. Like if a person loves someone who happens to be the same sex as them… so what? Im a Christian and it breaks my heart when I hear how gay people were told they would go to hell by ‘Christians’ and I quote Christian’s because Christian’s are supposed to be respectful and not spread hate. And racism, there are still so many racists that have so much hate in them, it’s disgusting and disturbing. I first learnt about slavery and racism when I was 11-12 in school and then I did some other research at home and I remember being so horrified and disgusted at slave owners that inflicted so much pain onto black people. Simply because of their skin colour, something that no one can control. It disgusts me how people could and can have so much hate to want to torture a group of people because of their skin colour. And so many non black people ignore the history of black people. I see non black people doing braids that are cultural to black people. Like I know black hair is stunning (and I adore black hairstyles. They’re so beautiful I love the dedication they all put into it) but people seem to ignore that is has a history. this is from what I’ve learnt. Please tell me if I’m missing something! -braids are a protective hairstyle for their type of hair. Black people naturally have curly hair and it comes in different textures and sizes. Black people and white people have different hair types. It will damage white people’s hair. - black slaves would not be given food, so they would hide it in their hair so they could survive. It also breaks my heart when I see black people wishing they were white, only because they’ve been made fun of for being black and have therefore become ashamed of it, or picked on for their ethinical features. One of my best friends was upset because she was made fun of. And I hate the people that make them feel that way. Black people are beautiful, their cultures are beautiful. Whenever I listen to black Artists, I cry a lot of the time because you can always feel the emotion in their voices. I love gospel music. And don’t even get me started on the food, black people make the most exquisite food.

And racists go about their day hating black people, whist using things that black people invented.

it also makes me laugh how (mostly) men were so angry about elvis when he started out. How tf was he vulgar. They’d have a heart attack if they saw what happens now lol.

WHEW.. This was a lot. So I’m going to answer it in sections, lol. But I agree with everything you’ve said.

I’m going to be completely transparent. I grew up Christian and to be honest the church was just never for me. That sort of religion and way of thinking. I’m a spiritual person but in others ways. Because being apart of the LGBT myself and someone who isn’t completely out. I’ve always just had a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to Christians. They preach one thing but behave another when someone is different from them. It’s not all of them. There are people like you who are open minded and who do accept people as they say God wants you to. But there’s a lot who aren’t that nice. Who are judgement or find the LGBT evil or say it’s a sin. (My mom is one of those people and that’s why I haven’t come out to her.) but then you have these annoying ass born again Christians who suddenly have so much hate to spew. One of my best friends (who I no longer consider my best friend) has become this way. She’s so judgement and so worried that the LGBT are influencing her kids because omg they have pride stuff at target. Like ain’t nobody worried about your damn kids. You should be protecting your kids from actual predators not the LGBT. Then we almost got into an argument because shes like “I can’t understand why the LGBT has to be so out like why can’t they just stay in the closet and do what they do instead of letting us all know.” And I’m like huh?????? So naturally I’m like okay why don’t you STRAIGHTS keep what you do in the closet so the rest of us don’t have to know. Like what kind of shit??? Sorry, I’m ranting. But that’s how I feel about that. Now I’m not against religion or anything, it’s just not for me. Because I can’t take the hypocrisy within the church. But I am friends with people who are religious but don’t have those hateful views which is great!

The racism is a whole other thing. But that’s just something that’s never gonna change. Racism is taught. People who are racist will continue to teach their children to be the same way and so on. It’s sad. Yeah, white people and the braids.. there was this girl on TikTok who had gotten box braids and she was white and many people told her not to do it because it will mess up her hair. Then she was going off on people just for her to take them out and have to cut half her hair off because the braids fucked them up. Like those protective styles are not for your hair and I wish they would stop trying to argue otherwise. It’s sad that people do make fun of black people for their hair and making people feel terrible and wishing they were a different race. When there’s nothing wrong with our hair. I’m sorry that happened to your friend.

I get that because when I was younger I wished I was too because my hair was so unmanageable and I hated that I couldn’t look like other people because my hair was just a different texture. But eventually you do grow to love your hair and see that there are so many things we can do with our hair. It just takes people time to realize that. I know it took me time to also realize that. Now I’ve got dreadlocks. (Which are taking forever to grow 😭)

But what also makes me upset is the hate within our community and how we treat each other. Because it’s not just white people or whoever that make fun of black people. Sometimes it’s your own damn people. I speak from experience. So, I’m lightskin but I’m fully black. But growing up of course I had other black people make comments on how I talk, the music I listen to and just my skin. Black people come in all sorts of colors. Doesn’t make us any less black. I don’t understand why if you do something that’s not “typically black” then “oh, you’re a white girl” or make comments about you wanting to be being white. Even how I talk and I notice this with other black people who’ve said people in our community make fun of how some may talk. I feel like there’s such a big stereotype that we are supposed to talk a certain way just because we’re black. Like no, depending on where you grew up I feel like you just adapt to talking that way. I don’t understand this “You talk white” because I speak clearly?? Why are we conforming to these stereotypes that black people just talk “ghetto” or “hood”. Like don’t let people make you think you’re only supposed to talk one way because society says so.

It just annoys me and I’m so glad to see other black people speak up about the fact that this happens so often in our community if a black person may talk differently, may listen to music that isn’t rap or r&b and how we get shamed for it or called white for it. Make it make sense??

Nothing ANNOYS ME MORE than when racists hate black people so much but the love the culture, the music, the slang, the hairstyles. But then can’t stand us, lol. PLEASE MAKE THAT MAKE SENSE.

So, @fairytalepsuedonym​​​​ has been making some really wonderful song analyses in regards to how they relate to Knightrook. Y’all should check them out! It reminded me that for a long time I’ve been wanting to make an Alice Jones musical theatre playlist (because I’m a musical nerd). WIP Wednesday! (aka stuff from when my fics were WIPs)

i haven’t written anything new since sunday, though, so i thought instead i’d share some ....... alternate versions of scenes from fics i’ve already posted. 

We Were Always More - baz amnesia, written with @facewithoutheart there’s a draft of the scene just before the roleplay which is essentially the same, but in the opposite POV

We Were Always More

this is kind of weird - i almost never flip POV in exactly the way, i usually know which POV i should be in. but basically what happened here was that i thought i’d been in baz’s head too long - to the extent that simon sort of stopped feeling as real. 

also, you’ll see i wanted a dramatic flip of POV at the point where the spell kicks in - but i thought i’m losing out by not having baz’s reaction (which is genuinely horrified) while simon’s reaction is a non-reaction. so i kept the dramatic flip of POV post spell, but swapped round who was telling us about what. (i didn’t like being in simon’s POV for him having the idea, either. i think it works better if we don’t see him work it out, so we can imagine he’s thinking more than i wrote for him.)

also in this draft - there’s a bit where i was planning to have amensia!baz tell simon that he was smart, but it meant he had to bring up penny in this sexy scene, which was weird, and i didnt think he really knew simon. so yeah - here’s the same scene as in the fic.... but different. 

Simon looks pained. “I really want to touch you.”

I smirk, raising an eyebrow. “That’s what happened?”

He shakes his head. “You said I was a moron. Who couldn’t find his way to the dining hall.”

I reach for his hand and draw it over to my stomach as a reward for answering the question. 

“I’ve seen you there.” 

He laughs, tracing his fingers up my chest. “Yeah, I know how to get to the dining hall.”

“And I don’t think you’re a moron,” I continue. “You’re a good researcher. You’re friends with Penelope Bunce. You’re good with your hands.” 

“Not sure that’s relevant.”

“It feels relevant right now.”

He laughs again and the sound goes straight to my cock, already hard from Simon’s petting. 

“You told me to move.” He gives the next part of the story unprompted. “Out of your way.”

I put my hand on one of his pecs and give him a gentle shove. “Move.” 

“Not until you apologise,” Simon growls. 

I almost swoon. He shouldn’t be allowed to be that sexy. 

Fortunately, I know my lines from here. It’s something like: 

“The only thing I’ll ever apologise for is having met you.”

He nods. “Tell me this,” he’s getting into it now. “Tell me your life would be so much better without me. Tell me.”

“My life would be much better if you just kissed me right now.”

 SIMON

The magic makes me do it. 

Well, I mean I might have done it anyway because Baz and I have been feeling each other up since we got back to our room and, by this point, I really want to kiss him, but now I don’t have a choice. 

I grab Baz by the back of his head with my free hand and tug him into me. 

This kiss is short too. 

Baz pulls away almost immediately. He looks horrified. “Fuck, I’m so sorry. I didn’t think that would work. I was just joking.”

“I know, it’s fine.” 

“Did you mean to make that magic?”

I shake my head. “Sometimes it just happens. That’s why I’m such a shit Chosen One. But––” I slap my forehead. (Maybe I am a moron. I should have thought of this.) “We could do it on purpose.”

Baz still in shock, I think. 

“What could we do on purpose? Kiss?”

“The magic,” I say, more excited now. “I could say Tell me, and you say you want to remember me again.”

He frowns. “Would that work?”

“Yeah,” I say. “Why wouldn’t it?” 

He still doesn’t look happy. I spell it out for him. 

“Baz, we could get your memory back.”

 BAZ

I don’t want it. 

Or do I? I don’t know. 

This has all escalated too fast. One minute Simon and I were doing some sort of sexy, shirtless roleplay, then the next thing I know I’ve magickally compelled him to snog me. Now he’s saying he’s not upset. (He barely seems to register the loss of control – which is appalling). He’s saying I can be back the way I was quicker than it takes to click your heels together three times. 

We all fall down

tiny little bit of a different beginning where i thought it was going to be set in seventh year. these were the opening lines. and baz said he started coughing after he came back from easter break. 

Normally, it’s hard to follow Baz. He doesn’t like me doing it and he doesn’t leave much of a trail.  I’ve learned to be good at tracking. I can spot where the grass in the Wavering Wood is slightly flatter where he’s stepped on it, the odd broken branch. 

It’s not like that today. The trail is clear. He’s been dragging his feet, leaving huge scuffs in the forest floor. Even a handprint at one point, like he fell.

and... a different ending which i re-wrote after getting feedback from @giishu viz a) the cave where baz went to die? really? and b) he’s been drowning the whole fic, we shouldn’t stay in that metaphor. i knew this was right, i knew the ending wasn’t working as written. time to leave the cave - that was the point. but i wanted to keep the wings and the flower magic. weirdly i didn’t think of ‘roses are red’ until the re-write, even though it was obvious retrospectively. i also thought ‘spring’s come early’ was a nice final line - so i went back to baz’s first scene and added him saying the flowers he was thinking of (which i chose because they were blue or had the word ‘snow’ in them, honestly) were all spring flowers, so i could get to that ending.  

“Do you want to be my boyfriend?” he asks – so seriously and so unnecessarily that I actually snort with laughter. I have to bring a hand up to cover my mouth. And then I have to drop it so I can answer him. (And so he doesn’t think I’m about to cough.)

“Yes.”

He grins. “Do you want to get out of this cave?”   

I do – we’re supposed to be in class right now, and it’s a bit grim in here – and I don’t. (We’d have to go to different classrooms, we’d have to split up. Even if we’d see each other at lunch time.) Simon clearly spots my hesitation.

“Or we could stay?” he offers. “For a bit.” He shuffles closer. “We could have sex?”

I open my mouth to say something like “I’m not having sex in a cave”, but then Simon corrects himself.

“We could make love?”

It’s an easy decision to make. Now I know the truth.

I push him back onto the ground behind him, crushing the last of the roses that still linger even though they can’t hurt me anymore. The ground is hard and unyielding, but we have Simon Snow’s magic and I have Simon Snow. As soon as I complain, he summons the same feathery white wings he wrapped around me weeks ago and wraps them around me again. I can feel the magic humming against my lips as we kiss.

“Let me share it?” I ask and he doesn’t hesitate. He pushes it into me, and I know now. It is love, that’s what I’m feeling. That’s what I’m filled with. That’s what I would be drowning in, if I was still drowning.

“In an ocean the colour of your eyes,” I tell Simon – and I know without opening my eyes that around us the cave is filling with bluebells. With snowdrops. And forget-me-nots.

I came out to my mom as bi and she was very accepting

I came out to my mom as trans and she said she was already pretty sure & accepted me

I came out as autistic and my mom tried her best to do accurate research

I came out as physically disabled and my mom said she could already tell and already completely accepted & was OK with the fact that I will be living at home for a long time and probably won't be able to drive or work outside of home for the rest of my life

But I know if I told her I have NPD, our relationship would be ruined. She is deathly terrified of narcissists. My dad is one, and I denied it for a long time because I hated the notion that narcs are inherently abusive. But no, I totally see all my symptoms in him and he just decides to take them out on other people rather than find healthier ways to cope & communicate.

She was married to an abusive narcissist and has an abusive mother who she deems narcissistic, so she would probably be horrified to learn that her own kid is one too. Would she still be willing to support me financially as a disabled person? Would she still be comfortable enough to come to pride events with me? Would she still want to regularly hang out and do activities together? I don't know.

oh wow, this sounds really tough and i’m so sorry you have to worry about that. im not trying to claim that i know what you’re going through, but i feel pretty similarly about my npd and aspd- im not really scared to come out as queer or autistic- not because i don’t think there are risks, because i know there are, but because i love those parts of myself- so even if i get beaten up again, it won’t make me want to change. but i don’t like having npd or aspd. i havent accepted those parts of myself yet which makes me terrified to even think about telling others. because being queer and autistic can be super hard, but in many ways they’re much less stigmatized now, but being a narcissist is like, ultimate stigma argh. anyways, i really wish you luck in navigating this because you deserve a mother who would never abandon you, financially or otherwise.

So the other day I woke up and was on Facebook for about 5 minutes when I saw an advertisement for a “milf” hat and that reminded me of the “man, I love frogs” meme. I was instantly overcome with a desire to know everything there is to know about frogs and so I spent some time just reading about frogs on Wikipedia. You wanna know what I found out this morning? Loving frogs is a bisexual stereotype (this is not on the frog Wikipedia page, I saw it in a meme) (it should be on the frog wiki page though)

I thought to myself “wow, the more time passes the more stereotypes I find myself fitting.” (Teenage me would’ve been horrified) But then I had another thought. It’s not that I’m this huge stereotype. I mean, I kind of am, but that’s the wrong way to look at it. I realized that the more I find out about myself and the more I get to know about other people and communities who I didn’t see/interact with growing up the more I’m able to see other people who have actually felt the same way and experienced similar things to me. This is so soothing to me since I spent so much of my life feeling only partially understood by even the highest quality of friends and my family who I am very close to. (I’m not going to get into the lower quality of friendships I had and all the damage that I’m still dealing with because of that). There’s obviously never going to be one person, or even one group of people who could ever completely understand me (or anyone), but being able to connect to new and different people than you’re used to is just so awesome.

It’s why I got involved with fandoms. I loved the idea of being able to have something in common and be passionate about with huge groups of complete strangers who have literally nothing else in common with me

It’s also part of the reason why I love sports and going to concerts

there’s something special about being able so share not just big important things, but also silly little things

For context, I’m 24. I realized I’m bi two years ago and was diagnosed with adhd less than a year ago. It is honestly insane how long it took for both of those things to happen

I hate American Christianity, it’s fucked up my spiritual relationship so much it hurts to even think about stepping inside of a church just because I’m bi.
