It was three am and Erik was still awake. He couldn't get comfortable, he was starting to get sweaty, and Peter was playing his video games at the highest volume with the occasional shout. He was annoyed and confused, he's never had any trouble going to sleep before. He usually goes to sleep around 10 and wakes up 6, and it's been that way ever since he was a child. So why is having trouble all of a sudden? Two words: Charles Xavier.
He never stopped running through Erik's mind. He was always subconsciously thinking about him. Everything reminded Erik of him and he didn't know what to do.
He's tried for weeks to make his feelings for Charles clear but he just doesn't understand. He decided about two months ago that he's sick of keeping his true feelings inside. He knew he liked Charles and he thought Charles reciprocated, but every time he says something flirty, he ends up taking it as a friendly comment or something. It's extremely aggravating!
Like yesterday, Charles came down wearing a new sweater. Granted, it looked like he took it straight off his grandfather, but he made it work like nobody else! As soon as he entered the dining room, Scott immediately started bursting with laughter, causing Raven and Peter to look up and start snickering, Hank and Jean looked up as well but didn't really care.
"Good morning, Grandpa," Raven spoke, smirking at Charles, who just rolled his eyes and poke his tongue out at her.
"Good morning to you, Smurf." Charles retorted. Raven's smile immediately dropped and rolled her eyes at Jean who was now pointing and laughing at her.
"I think you look great." Erik winked as Charles sat next to him. Charles just smiled and pushed his shoulder playfully. Erik swear he saw a little red tint on Charles' cheeks, but it could've been because he just woke up or something.
"I know." and that was the end of that. Their day went on normally, but Erik was really confused. Was he not blunt enough? He thought he was, so what was he to do? He was too anxious to admit his feeling flat out, but he was tired all of this flirting and obliviousness to said flirting! He knew he should tell him, but he wasn't ready.

He woke up the next day at 10 am feeling like death. He pulled himself out of bed, all of his joints popping loudly. As he walked to the kitchen, he noticed that mansion was oddly quiet at 10. It was early in the morning, but everyone's usually up by now, talking in the sitting room or outside messing in the gardens. He looked outside and saw no one, he continued on his path to the kitchen in a state of confusion.
"Well, look who finally woke up," Charles joked as he entered the dining room, "I didn't think you'd ever wake up. I came in there around 6:30, but you looked so tired, I gave you more time."
"Thank you. I don't why but I couldn't get to sleep last night," Erik said, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
"I figured, you're usually up by now and on your 500th cup of tea," Charles joked as he stood up, "speaking of..." he trailed off as he disappeared into the kitchen, only to emerge with a steaming cup of tea.
"Oh, thank you," Erik said dumb founded and Charles just smiled. He had to stop himself from moaning, this was probably the best tea he's had in a long time. "Ah, what would i do without you, liebling?" Erik froze after he let the word slip, but Charles didn't seen to notice, which he was thankful for.
"Die, probably." Charles replied cheekily. It was quiet for a few moments, Erik drinking his delicious tea, Charles staring out the window. Erik loved these moments with Charles, he could just sit here for hours. He was still confused though, where was everyone?
"Where has everyone gone?" Erik said after a moment.
"They were trying figure out something to do, Raven had suggested going to the lake and they all agreed. They left about an hour ago, I told them that i'd wait for you and we'd meet up with them later, if you want to go." Charles explained.
"Oh, that sounds really nice actually. Yeah, let's go!" Although Erik would rather just stay here with Charles all day, a swim in the lake sounds amazing.
"Okay, i'll go get towels and all that, while you need to get dressed mister," Charles joked as he pointed towards the stairs.
"Yes, mom," Erik joked back and went to get dressed. They met at the door a few minutes later. Charles had the bag over his shoulder and a book in his hand. 'Of course he's bringing a fucking book to the lake.' Erik thought to himself fondly.
"What book did you bring?" Erik asked as they walked down the path to the lake.
"Harry Potter. I haven't read it in a long time, and I figured it would be a nice break from all the old non-fiction stuff, you know? I remember Raven read it as a child, and she wouldn't ever shut up about it. It was all she ever talked about, and until I read it, I never understood why. We would read it together when we would go to bed. Those were the best moments of my childhood." Charles rambled on, but Erik loved every second of it. He loved it when Charles rambled on about something, he loved the way his eyes would go bigger and talk with his hands and be short of breath. Or if it was something nostalgic like this, his face would soften and his voice would go quiet and he would play with his fingers and stare off in the distance; It was incredibly endearing.
They emerged a few minutes later and walked over to where everyone's stuff was. Charles set the stuff down while Erik took his shirt off, and was immediately greeted by cat-calls and cheers. He replied with the middle finger and turned around in time to see a blushing Charles looking away and sitting down. 'Huh, that's weird," Erik thought to himself, "Must be the heat."
They'd been swimming in the lake for about an hour and Charles hasn't gotten in. He's been reading the book. Erik stopped for a moment, encaptivated by Charles, yet again. He was hunched over his lap, blocking the sun from hitting the pages and blinding him. His hair was falling over his eyes, but it wasn't long enough to cover his face. His eyebrows were scrunched together, his eyes feverishly moving back and forth, taking in the words a million miles a minute, as if each word would be the last. He was completely distracted...Perfect. He walked over to Charles and stood in front of him for a moment.
"Do you need something?" Charles asked without looking up. Erik just smirked.
"No, I just couldn't help but how hot is it out here," Erik replied, "and I couldn't help but think you must be burning up over here." That made Charles look up at Erik warily.
"What are you planning?" Charles asked as he closed his book.
"I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about," Erik said and slowly walked over to Charles as he placed his book on the ground and prepared himself to run. Then Erik shot forward and almost caught him before he jumped up and ran away. Erik let him go for a second before he chased after him and eventually caught him around the waist. Charles wrapped his arms around Erik's shoulders as he ran.
"ERIK LET ME DOWN!" Charles laughed as Erik ran towards the dock, "Erik STOP NO NO NO NO N-" He was cut off by Erik jumping into the lake. When they came up for air everyone was cheering and laughing. Erik and Charles joined in too, until they realized they were still wrapped around each other. They met each other's gaze and stared for a moment, Erik was captivated by the way the water bounced off his eyes and made them look electric. Charles was studying the way the sun was giving his face the most beautiful glow. They stared for a few moments until Peter cleared his throat and they broke out of their trance. They let go of each other and swam to everyone else. Charles was supporting a terrible blush for the rest of the day, and honestly, Erik was dying inside.

It was later in the evening and everyone went to the game room, while Charles and Erik read in the study. Erik loved when they did this, he loved spending time with Charles, even if they weren't talking. But he couldn't stop thinking about that moment between them. How their bodies absent-mindedly grew closer and their hold on each other tightened. Erik is so confused, he didn't think Charles reciprocated his feelings. He hasn't acted differently since Erik has started acting a little more flirtatious towards him, but the moment they shared today...something happened and they need to talk about it.
He looked over at Charles and...holy shit...he looked so beautiful. The lamp gave the room an golden glow, which brought out the natural highlights in Charles' hair. He looked up from his book and the way the light made the gold in his eyes stand out nearly made Erik faint. Charles smiled at him and Erik knew he was ready. He was ready to tell him how he felt. He needed to tell him because all this flirting and cheeky comments aren't enough for Charles' obliviousness.
"Charles, I need to tell you something," Erik said, and he suddenly felt all the air leave his lungs as Charles just nodded at him with the most open look on his face. He shouldn't feel scared, this is Charles we're talking about! The most understanding person in the universe. Even if he doesn't feel the same way, he'll still be in Erik's life. He wouldn't abandon him. Right?
"What is it?" Charles asked as he leaned in closer to look at Erik's face, only to be met with a look of panic. "Erik," Charles reached forward and grabbed his hand, trying to comfort him, but only making his panic worsen, "Whatever it is, you can tell me. You know that."
Erik took a breath, focused on his breathing and Charles' hand on his. His hand is so soft, fits so nicely with his. Like a match made in heaven. It felt right and that gave Erik the confidence to tell him.
"I'm in love you," Erik said suddenly, meeting Charles' gaze, "I just needed to tell you because I'm sick of keeping it inside, it's been eating away at me for weeks. I've been trying to hint to you for a while that I like more than a friend, but I didn't know how you felt." Erik explained, trying to form coherent sentences while staring at Charles' ever growing eyes, and tightening grip on his hand.
"Really? I had no idea, I just thought that was friendly banter! I didn't know you like me, too." Charles breathed out, staring down at their hands.
"Well yeah, I thought I made it quite obvious, but apparently not," Erik said, laughing a little, before his smile dropped and realization hit, "wait...too?"
Charles looked up at him and nodded, "I-I'm in love with you, too."
Erik felt the air leave his lungs, for a good reason this time. Charles loves him! This didn't feel real, but it was. Charles is real, his hand on his is real, their love for each other is real. Erik couldn't believe it. He leaned forward and placed his hand on Charles' cheek, rubbing soothing circles, taking in his face close up. The little freckles that dotted his cheeks and nose, the small flakes of green in his eyes that he's never noticed before, the softness of his lips. Charles brought his hand up to hold Erik's hand that laid on his face. He closed his eyes and took in the moment, while Erik feel in love with the look of pure serenity on his angelic face. He couldn't help himself as he leaned in and placed his lips on Charles'. They felt so much better than Erik could've ever imagined. They felt so nice on his and they had this slightest hint of tea, and Erik loved that. He loved everything about Charles. He was so happy to finally be able to kiss him, hold him, cuddle him, look at him without feeling guilty or nervous.
Charles is his and he is Charles'. Nothing could ever change that.
They weren't the only ones who were happy, though. Out in the hallway, peaking through the cracked door, was everyone high fiving each other, silently cheering and Peter was handing Raven $10. It was a good day for everyone indeed.
