WHAT  IS  YOUR  OTP  FOR  YOUR  CHARACTER? With canon characters there are two that I ship Ren the most with: Iron Maiden Jeanne, his (future) wife canon wise, because despite the lack of canon information regarding their relationship I think there is a lot of fun in imagining, theorizing and writing many what if’s about how they became what they are to each other. The second character is Yoh Asakura, many will argue Ren’s and Yoh’s relationship is just friendship and platonic and it’s fine to see it as such but to me it is much deeper than that, romantic or not, their bond is really special and deep.

WHAT  ARE  YOU  WILLING  TO  WRITE  WHEN  IT  COMES  TO SHIPPING? Almost anything really! I don’t mind writing NSFW however as my rules state I only write that with adult Ren, anything that aludes to that kind of content with a younger version of him will be done in fade to black style and be skipped. However keep in mind, writing NSFW isn’t my biggest thing, I tend to get bored with that sort of content really quick and would rather stick to the normal romantic parameters. I absolutely love to write AUs/What If’s verses so definitely come to me with AU ideas so that we can build something and above all have fun with it. Angst/romantic/comedy/fluff, any of these themes work too. Shipping with me, however, requires developing chemistry between the characters, I won’t jump immediately into something until we’ve at least stabilized a few points. Ren has a difficult temper, he has a harsh past and trust issues, it’s not easy to love him for who he is.

HOW  LARGE  DOES  THE  AGE  GAP  HAVE  TO  BE  TO  MAKE  IT UNCOMFORTABLE? Please keep anything sh/otacon (or anything similar) away from me, I absolutely cannot stand that kind of gender (I have seen that sort of shipping with Ren and it makes me really uncomfortable). Other than that, I would say anything above 6-7 years of age gap starts being a no for me.

HOW  FAR  DO  STEAMY  MOMENTS  HAVE  TO  GO  BEFORE  THEY ARE  CONSIDERED NSFW? I would say anything that goes beyond the clothing removal and the steamy kisses. Either way if the thread leads to that sort of thing we will have to have talked about it, so both me and my RP partner should know when it’s time to use the skip button.

ARE  YOU  SELECTIVE  WHEN  SHIPPING? I would say I am! As I mentioned above, Ren has a temper that is just not easy for everyone to deal with him; he is harsh, violent and most of the time is ‘act first, think later’.  I’m not really into shipping with characters from fandoms I have no idea what they are about, doesn’t mean it’s impossible but unless I get to really know the character in question then it’s really hard. Also, again, as mentioned above, chemistry between our muses is key to me! Once we have established the essential points of their relationship, really, anything can go so long we both agree on it and I love the idea of surprising my rp partner from time to time!

ARE  YOU  SHIP  OBSESSED  OR  SHIP  MORE-OR-LESS ? Depends on my rp partner and depends on the ship itself. However you can bet that if we talk on a daily basis (doesn’t have to be the literal meaning of that word) about our ship that I will spam you with memes and ideas of them.

WHO  ARE  OTHER  CHARACTERS  YOU  SHIP  YOUR  CHARACTER WITH? With canon characters there is no other character in particular aside from the two earlier mentioned! However I’m quite open to other possibilities. I do have a guilty pleasure for Ren/Hao for more darker dynamics. Other than that, again I am open to crossover ships and Ren x OC ships but again chemistry is a key here.

DOES  ONE  HAVE  TO  ASK  TO  SHIP  WITH  YOU? Yes, absolutely yes. I apologize in advance but I will ignore any romantic attempts between our muses if we haven’t talked about it at all.

Ability

“Healing Cat” is an ability aimed for self-defense. Any damage dealt to Shomei’s body will be nullified for the time span of 9 minutes upon activation; as long as the ability’s cat is unharmed.

When the 9 minutes come to an end, it vanishes and Shomei becomes vulnerable again.

The cat also vanishes if damage is dealt directly to it (i.e. getting shot or hit with a weapon), thus canceling the ability’s effects immediately. Additionally, The Blue Cat can only be seen by gifted people, which gives him an advantage over regular people he may engage in battle against.

After cancelation, be the reason of it the end of the 9 minutes or damage dealt to the cat, it can only be activated again after more 9 minutes pass.

This ability can also be passed onto one or two more living beings at the same time, granting them its effect, but with decreased time for each individual.

Shomei is unable to share his ability if it’s not activated on him as well, and anyone under the Healing Cat’s effect needs to stay in the vicinity or else the effects will cease working. The maximum distance range is 30 meters.

This ability needs a good strategy and a bit of planning ahead to work on its full potential since it has lots of cons.

Literary inspiration

“The Healing Cat” is a book that emphasizes one’s wellbeing as something of utmost importance, be it by being taken care of, or simply by loving and accepting yourself as whom you are. I chose to make it a “support” ability due to the book’s original self-caring nature towards the reader.

Personality

Shomei is a laidback man. A deep thinker with a tendency for melancholy, it’s not rare for him to end up musing to himself with little to no stimulation. He has a singular point of view when it comes to the meaning of some things and tends to muse about the beauty of the world and the depth of life quite often; since he spent years believing the cat from his ability was a hallucination, he got used to the idea of being left alone with his own thoughts.

Usually composed, he’s most commonly assigned to missions on which tension may rise up due to peril. Once focused on a task, he’s able of analyzing the situation and thinking fast to bring up the best solution at hand. However, he tends to snap and act impulsively when under certain kinds of pressure (like when he hastily proposed to his love interest in the middle of the Agency, for example).

Shomei’s memory isn’t that remarkable, but he has a good eye for detail, usually spotting things and identifying patterns that aren’t too easy to notice.

Combat-wise, his physical condition is average. Shomei usually makes use of two pistols to shoot enemies while under Healing Cat’s effect, but if unable to use them at all, he’s not physically strong enough to fight back bare-handed and deal damage, but he’s very good at stunning the opponent to withdraw. He has some basic understanding of Krav Maga.

While in the Agency, he tends to focus on doing his job the best he can, but he’s prone to try skipping work on rare occasions due to tiredness drawn from sleepless nights. He’s trying hard to fix his messed up sleeping schedule though.

Backstory

Born in Kumamoto prefecture, Shomei Yoh had a rather lonely childhood. He was usually left alone at home most of the time since his parents worked too much, and his only company was a domestic cat named Aoi. He developed a fondness for cats due to spending a great time around her.

When he was 16, Aoi ended up dying of an unknown illness and, soon after this incident, Shomei manifested Healing Cat’s Blue Cat. Although, no one was able of seeing the cat but him, so his parents and relatives believed he was hallucinating in grief caused by Aoi’s death.

Shomei went through lots and lots of psychiatry and counseling therapy, but none of that seemed to have any effect. He could hear the cat “whispering” to him at times and could even touch it, but he didn’t believe entirely that it was real at all. After a while, he chose to just put up with the counseling and fake its results, lying that he had finally stopped seeing the cat just so his relatives wouldn’t worry nor bother him about that anymore. Shomei didn’t want the cat to leave either, as silly as that’d sound to anyone else.

For some years, he stopped seeing the cat. Shomei decided to keep his life going anyway, and having remarkable aptitude in linguistics, he majored in English language and graduated from a local university, being offered a job as a teacher in the same university shortly after. When the cat ended up appearing again, it wouldn’t come close to Shomei, as if observing him from afar.

Then, something odd occurred. Shomei got involved in a car accident that caused his car to explode in the collision, but he managed to leave it unscathed; neither the collision nor the explosion hurt him, and that was surely impossible. Looking around after leaving the car, there it was; the cat was observing him. After this day, he became sure something was up with that cat.

Becoming aware of the ADA’s dealing with paranormal cases, he left for Yokohama in hopes of having them investigate his case and came across a man struggling with a stray cat. Out of habit, he tried helping the man out, explaining to him how to effectively approach skittish cats. They succeeded, and the Blue Cat also appeared, finally coming close to Shomei again after so many years. Much to his surprise, the man suddenly said:

“This blue cat of yours looks very interesting.”

“You can see it too…?”

That man’s name was Yukichi Fukuzawa.
