JayKyle Mermaid Au
Jason is the mermaid here who is part human and Kyle is an artist and guild member of the Green Lanterns (a crafters guild that is reknowned for their innovation and how they get the job done). One day Kyle’s sketchbook goes overboard while he’s travelling and mer-Jason catches it, recognizes the lady in one of his idle sketches as his birth mom and is like “someone on this ship knows who my mom is”.
he susses out that Kyle is the artist and basically sea stalks him and the ports that he’s on hoping that he’ll run into her. Meanwhile Kyle gets this awful hair raising bad vibes feeling that he’s being watched. The next time he’s on deck there’s a ship wreck or an attack or something on his ship and he’s drowningggg, but his mer stalker is like oh wow opportunity knocks i guess and saves Kyle like “how do you know my mom?” and Kyle is like wtfh we need to help these people despite him being half drowned himself, this heroic quality piques Jason’s interests yada yada they actually talk, the situation is laid out and Kyle who earlier in the last few years got help from Connor to find his dad is like “I’ll pay it forwards, I guess.”
Starts the adventure^tm where they get into shennanigans, accidently become pirates, hide in high society, make deals with suspicious sea witches, learn more about each other, talk about the meaning of home and mothers and the value of building new homes.
Also at some point they meet Donna who knows Jason, the pseudo Lost Prince of Gotham or governor’s son idk who Bruce is yet, thru Dick. Because this is my story and I’m in love with Ms. Donna Troy, she has custody of Robbie and is having a good time with a Ms. Dewitt who is recovering from a hostage situation from a few years ago.
Anyways this is when Kyle finds out that Jason isn’t a mer-mer but a half mer who is also the adopted son of Bruce Wayne that is shrouded in rumors. But lol Sheila is a mermaid-pirate and had a kid with Willis, dropped off said kid because that gets in the way of pirating, leaving Willis-fisherman and Catherine-school teacher to take care of this bbyboy who tends to turn aquatic in the sea. And when they died Jason decided to live in the sea where he ended up saving a drowning Bruce who kind of just adopted him from there.
More shenanigans... A visit to the guild house and upcoming projects and a general, yo Kyle you got stuff to do. Something something the idea of wanderlust and concept of home again something something maybe the treasure was the friends we made along the way something something don’t go chasing no waterfalls please stick to the waters and lakes that you’re used to or something like that you feel me?
ANDDDD it’d be called “A fin to every tail”

Half-ass Paper Review #001 - [Productivity]
Dewitte, Siegfried, and Willy Lens. "Procrastinators lack a broad action perspective." European Journal of Personality 14.2 (2000): 121-140.
TL;DR (my takeaway) Non-procrastinators know the details of the tasks but views the task in general description. (This is my own inference from the paper) -> To achieve more, try to look in bigger picture. If you lack general view of the task, it's easier for you to fall into the procrastination trap.
Two concepts - Procrastination: putting ones intention to later, rather than enacting it when it arose. --- Optimistic: Confident that they can finish the task --- Pessimistic: Are aware that they are behind the schedule. Incompetent and is afraid of revealing their lack of capability -Perspective of actions: simply put, answers to "what are you doing" -> so called "action identity" --- the Generality Dimension - broad - medium - detailed "keeping up with course" - "reading a paper" - "trying to understand [*] in the paper"
Side note 01: Higher the competence, simpler/broader task description yields better performance.
Tumblr media
One of the study results: In both opti and pessi, procrastinators showed detailed action identity than the non-procrastinators.
Side note 02: Vallacher and Wegner (1985) - lower action identity performed better in parenting ("I'm preparing my kid for school" is better than "I'm preparing for my kid's future")
