vintage ads.

Capitalism: bad. Vintage ads: good.

Or so dictates the paradoxical logic that we have decided for ourselves, and when the question is this awkward, the answer is obvious: to stick our collective heads in the sand and simply enjoy the pretty things. And goodness, they are pretty. The problems with advertising, and its seductive evils, are laid bare by this selection of ads handpicked from the dashboard. The common thread between all of these ads is that they have been produced by corporations whose end goal and very purpose is to convince you (against your better judgment, or circumstances) to spend your money (money which you need) on their products (products which you don't—and possibly can't really afford.) 

Similarly demonstrated, however, is the irresistible nostalgic glamour. Perhaps when contemporary advertising tries so hard to be a meme, or be funny, or be quirky and off-beat (or perhaps more simply put, tries too hard) there is a genuine allure in classic adverts that, even now, feel so effortlessly stylish. This effortlessness is also paradoxical because, like the products they often advertise, they are the result of hard work, time, dedication, from those at the peak of their craft. Like these products, they were made for leisurely, long-term use and enjoyment, and not to be so quickly consumed and discarded. What we're really saying, I suppose, is when #advertising is this slick, and pleasing to the eye, we must simply ask that you be quiet, promptly, and accept our money.   

And remember, folks, one eye on the pretty ads, the other guarding your piggy banks x

Watching A Court of Fey and Flowers, I am seriously impressed by the fact that there are two bird-themed PCs talking about various types of birds constantly, and Brennan not only isn't playing one of them, but has stayed completely silent on the topic of birds throughout.

This morning I watched a video about Motaz Azaiza. An interview for AlJazeera.

And Wallahi, my tears wouldnt stop.

First, I saw the loss on his face. Then I saw the pain in his eyes. Then I heard the desperation in his voice.

Just a man, fighting all odds for his right to survive.

Now. Does that sound familiar?

Right to survive. In 2024.

Even cats and dogs have more rights than Palestinians.

To be killed or to kill.

That is the choice they have.

This is not normal. Humans killing other humans without valid reasons can never be normal. Wake up.

Only when you have been in his shoes, will you understand his strength. His strength to find hope in midst of extreme cruelty. His ability to speak for his people. I cannot imagine being him. The survivors guilt he must have. The pain of seeing his loved ones die. And to see dismembered dead bodies. To take the photography in hopes someone stops the madness. How terrifying. All i know is I would have broken down in this scenario. My mind will be torn to shreds. May Allah Swt keep him strong.

Motaz you may not believe it, but you have always been a hero. Your unstoppable willpower, may Allah Swt preserve it.

To you who is reading this. Our days on this earth is not permanent. We all end up 6 feet under anyhow. Understand that this was never about religion. Emmet breaks spacetime to find his brother this, Emmet goes feral without his brother that (which you shouldn't take too far btw), where are the Ingo goes apeshit fics. Where are the fics where Ingo single handedly corrals the gods into getting him (and Akari, if she's tired of being in charge after having to save the world) home. This man is depressed one day about his memories and then his unovan religion socialization kicks in subconsciously and he goes 'no fuck this. I am going to get my memories back whether they comply or not' and that escalates into 'i am going home no matter what' and also 'i am going to be happy. I will make it so'. This man didn't get raised with the values of TRUTH and IDEALS for nothing. That shit sticks in your mind so much even if you don't personally think about it much. Have you seen how many times unovans mention truth or ideals in the games. They're important to them. And they're important to him.

I don't even mean that Ingo becomes a villain or anything. I just mean to say he sees a child befriending gods and goes 'hey what the fuck. If they can do that i can do something about my own situation as well for sure' and don't try to tell me the gods wouldn't listen to him. First off i believe Arceus and everyone else do love their creation, they just sometimes don't understand it. Second of all even if that wasn't true not all the gods agree with each other. If Arceus couldn't or didn't want to do anything he could just ask giratina. Or dialga and palkia. How would palkia help? They bring him to celebi. There's no way he wouldn't get celebis approval especially with palkias help.

What? The Pearl clan wouldn't let him go? Lmao what are you even talking about. Even if they didn't want him to leave the position of warden they value space very much. They'd want him to find his own before all else, and even if they didn't Irida would and her judgement is the most important one in the clan. I'm pretty sure she mentions wanting to travel, too, so she might join Ingo for a time as well.

Something is wrong in Unova upon his arrival? Impossible. Unova loves their Subway bosses and Emmet loves and trusts Ingo enough for that not to be a problem. Even if he didn't Chandelure would be proof enough of something off. i don't think she would just feel her trainer's soul disappear in a split second and not cause a commotion, she'd immediatly begin to freak out. Even without that you know what always fixes shit? Communication baby. This man will not let something go until they've properly discussed it. If the other's opinion is still the same after they've all explained themselves, then fine. But i guarantee you it won't be. If communication is difficult for some reason there is nothing that stops him from making it easier or doing it anyway. He can also go to a god again and have them help out of it's something he can't do anything about himself. Grudge? Gone. Death? Xerneas'd. Legal trouble? Over.

There is nothing that can't be fixed, especially in the pokemon world. It's going to be exausting, and probably very taxing on the mind, but it would be worth it so much. And there is no way Ingo and Emmet aren't both going to go to therapy anyway in the end.

Even if the gods couldn't fix it and send him home, they'd at least grant them both peace of mind. A letter, a picture, sent back or forward in time. With proof that it's real, obviously, and that yes it is god that brought this to you, so there's no misunderstandings. And don't tell me they can't do that, you've seen the arc phone. A space time distortion, conveniently timed on both sides, courtesy of dialga and palkia. They're going to get to be happy eventually, whether that means moving on or being reunited. Though there's like no way they don't get reunited lol

Part of Dr Russel Barkley's talk about the neuroanatomy of ADHD, touching on topics of Working Memory, Motivation, Timing, and Emotional regulation. The full talk is also available on YouTube if you want to listen to it all.

I found his work very useful in understanding more about how ADHD can affect the 'expected' working functions of the brain. By being able to pin down more specifically the ways in which my brain differs from the typical, I feel better equipped to find and develop accommodations that actually work to combat them and also to accept and understand more about myself.

Monsterization & the cure

Blast is thiiis close to figuring out the secret ingredient to monsterization on humans and how to reverse it, though ironically one more secret to reversing monsterization is standing right next to him.

Saitama has a curious ability to reverse monsterization, as seen when he punched Cosmic Garou in the nogging and he lost all power and reversed his monsterization.

Unfortunately, Blast won't be able to just ask Saitama how he does it, because Saitama has forgotten. Otherwise he would ask Saitama to give shock therapy by punching people.

It's pointless to ask Garou either, for he has completely forgotten the secrets of monsterization.

It would appear that great shock to the biological system is enough to destabilize the monster cells on humans turned monsters, though the real key is in the willpower of the individual wanting to transform. It would logically make sense that if the person desires and obsesses over something and becomes inhuman, the reverse would have to be true as well. Hamukichi regrets turning into a monster and he was a promising subject in terms of reversing the monsterization.

Clearly, the desire to turn back into a human would appear to play a large part in reversing monsterization. Those who willingly turn into monsters renounce their humanity, so those who want to become humans again would have to attain back their humanity.

Now if Blast was to apprehend Gale wind and Hellfire flame and ask them questions in how they are capable of turning back and forth in their human and monster forms, he would be that much closer to unveiling the cure to monsterization.

Truly a shame that Bang has also retired; nobody is there to ask him questions about how he managed to reach Garou. He would be able to answer that by genuinely caring about his student, he managed to reach his true heart beneath the monster form.

The pieces are scattered around all over the place, but the players in OPM world are this much closer to bringing together all the keys.
