If Ancient Greek plays came with AO3 tags - #underage #non-con #incest #matricide #patricide #infanticide # found family - but then discovers they're his real family - and he slept with his mother - so he blinds himself #war #major character death #beatiality #gods turning into animals to do the dirty with humans #possible canabalism #lgbt characters - like all of them really #woman escapes abusive father yay! #though only by killing and dismemberment her younger brother and throwing peices of him at said father #drug use #lots of alcohol #blood and gore #epic stroops by so - called heros #lots of redemption arcs #for those few that survive that is #oh yeah, getting turned into pigs #being kept as sex slaves #plagues #fires #lers just say its a bit problematic

Lost Sons and Fathers
I wrote this for Eugene Appreciation Week, day 4 : Snow. The original post said to tag you in it, so I hope you don’t mind. @gleamful-lanterns @kingreywrites @autumn-ravenclaw
Edmund rolled behind a bush and peered over the top. From here he could see the doorway of the orphanage, he had walked for over a month, just for a few minutes. Every step away from the dark kingdom left him anxious, he had left his post, he wasn’t supposed to leave his post, but Adira had persuaded him. She’d said she’d keep watch for a few months, and he trusted her. She was one of the only people in the world whom he could trust fully.
He watched intently, then almost as if he had wished for it, the door opened, he held his breathe as a boy ran out and along the pathways. He knew instantly it was Horace. His heart ached, he longed to take his son home, but he would not let himself, he wouldn’t let his son end up imprisoned like him, alone, his only meaning in life to protect the world from the moonstone. No, if he could give him anything, it would be his freedom. He watched the boy disappeared into the forest.
***
Eugene was running, blindly running, the tears filling his eyes as he did so, fresh bruises starting to appear on his arms from where Alaric had pushed him over. He hated it there, he hated the guardians who never seemed to care, he hated the bigger kids who always picked on him, he hated being alone and without parents, he hated not having anything and having to share his bed with the smaller kids. Share his shoes, and his coat when somebody else needed them, but mostly he hated Alaric with his sneers and his quick fists.
He was never going back to the orphanage, he would stay in the forest, he would build a den, he would learn to fish. First he would make a fire, seeing as he was already cold. Something cold and wet touched is face, he looked up annoyed that it was raining when he’d run away without his coat, but as he looked up, he noticed white specks starting to fill the sky, it was snowing.
***
“Did you see how big he had got Hamuel? And he looked smart, I know it’s difficult to tell by looking at somebody that they’re smart, but the boy’s got wits I tell you… say… he’s been gone a while.”
Edmund looked around, there was already an inch of snow settling on the floor. There was more in the air too, the storm becoming heavier every minute. If it continued, he would not be able to see very far, where was the boy? Starting to feel a chill in his stomach that had nothing to do with the snow he got up and made his way in the direction he’d seen his son run.
 ***
It took over an hour to find him. The snow falling so fast that it was covering footprints almost as soon as they were made. It seemed like Horace kept heading west, towards the main road. Edmund hoped he knew somewhere safe to go, but then he saw him.
He was so still, the snow already settling over him in a thin dusting. Edmund had been wrong, he wasn’t big, not really, he was small, oh so small, and curled up against a tree trunk, his eyes closed. Edmund fell to his knees next to him, his fingers reaching out to touch his face, to feel the chill of his cheeks, then the soft tickle of air against them. He sighed in relief; the boy was still breathing.
Edmund shrugged his bear skin off and wrapped it around the boy, before he bent and picked his son up in his arms for the first time in six years.
***
Eugene was awake but he couldn’t open his eyes. There had been snow, so much snow and he’d tried to find his way back, but he’d not been able to see. His arms and legs had got so cold, and they had hurt every time he’d moved, till he was stumbling, and he just couldn’t move anymore, so he’d sat, he’d sat and waited to die.
He wasn’t dead though, and slowly he began to realize he wasn’t cold, and that his back was against something slightly softer than a tree trunk. Finally, he opened his eyes, he was back in his bed at the orphanage. He did not understand, his hand reached up to his head, to see if he was feverish, but it bumped into something. He looked down in puzzlement and saw a book sitting on his chest. He picked it up, he’d never seen it before. Eugene knew how to read; he was one of the only ones in the orphanage who had paid attention to the few lessons that they’d had. He read the title.
 “The Adventures Of Flynn Rider.”

The worst thing about getting married is... you now have in-laws, todays battle is trying to tell my mother in law that she's not allowed to give my 2 year old an ipad - and receiving 13 text messages at 2am in the morning from my 36 year old sister in law because she managed to grow a carrot and needs everybody to p her on the head and say 'clever girls.
I grew a person - and sent less pictures than she sent of that bloody carrot.
