Ok, here are my thoughts on chapter one of When The Day Met The Night by @authorleaandres

this is my first time seeing the hooligans in a story, and even though I know barely anything about them, I like them in this!

Bean was a delight, and he kept making me chuckle throughout. Reminds me of old cartoons, with how he pulls crap out of thin air.

Fang was nice as well, even though his personality can get a bit explosive in the fic. Like I said, I know next to nothing about The Hooligans, but i feel like a few of the moments where Fang got angry could have been set up more cohesively, like making The skunk brothers get on his nerves a little more, you know? Also he got a few chuckles out of me too

Bark is pretty good too. Although he doesn’t speak a lot of the time, his actions show some character to him, if that makes sense, like when he was stoic and unimpressed with Tumble’s punch and fist bumping Bean after winning. His infatuation with Jewel was also kinda cute

Jewel was a nice straight man to all of the chaos. In character to not like the fight and I’m interested in how she and bark get together since she’s afraid of him 👀

Tangle being chaotic and a bit unhinged but in a lovable way was really nice to see. Also I liked how she tried to protect Jewel from Tumble, and all her quips during the fight were very in character. Can’t wait for her and Bean to cause some chaos together!

Whisper was also nice, I like her and Tangle’s realatuonship. Also including her wisps In the writing was a nice touch.

This is my first time reading something with Mina The Mongoose as well, and after a little research I am extremely confused about her. I do love her chemistry with Fang tho. Can’t wait for more of her!

Rough and Tumble the Skunk Bros my beloveds~ it was great to see them get their shit wrecked by Bark, Tangle, and everyone else who fought in the parking lot. Very excited to see what other illegal things they’ll do!!

some random thoughts about the fic as well:

I hope bean is like 3x more insane in cannon

I loved it when the crowd started to chant “Fuck him up! Fuck him up!” That was great 🤣

Wow Bark is really love struck with Jewel huh. Poor Jewel, almost getting beat up by a salty skunk. Also I think she is exempted from any charges from the parking lot fight since she ran away at the first sign of trouble

The fights scenes were great, especially Tangle and Rough dueling it out. Also Bean duct tapping a blob to Tumble’s chest and Mina just straight up slapping Rough with her Alcohol addiction was amazing

Oh noooooo poor Jewel /serious. I wonder if she’ll get over her fear of Bark /sarcastic

and that’s it so far! Although it has its flaws, I’ve liked it so far and it’s no where near as bad as Lea makes it out to be!
