Back on my shitposting Bullshit. This posts theme is something I had already done on my older writing blog and I always love making headcanons so here it is for JJBA. (Jodio not included yet)

Loves it, huge fan of the tiny wholesome animal game.

Speedwagon showed it to him, knowing Jonathan would love it.

Jonathan puts a big effort into keeping his island pretty, villagers happy, filling the museum, sending gifts and letters to his friends and you.

Most wholesome player you'll ever encounter, that happily trades anything he has.

Loves to buy furniture and clothing for you to surprise you with it.

Joseph:

Wasn’t that big into it until he discovered the custom pattern function.

Now he's a menace, using loads of cursed patterns to paint his island in and give his villagers ugly shirts.

His own character wears a "Pussy Master" shirt.

Will visit Caesar’s and your island just to mess with you and gift your villagers ugly clothing and furniture.

Avid time skipper.

Biggest troll you two know and yet you love him.

Jotaro:

Not interested, didn't know what it was until he saw you having fun with it.

He asked Kakyoin what the game is, and he happily showed Jotaro.

Jotaro eventually surprises you with a friend request on your switch.

He doesn't do much around his island, just places some stuff here and there.

Is absolutely obsessed over aquatic Villagers and filling the fish part of the museum to take pictures there with you.

Josuke:

Organized Town, pretty layout, casual player that takes his time to slowly work towards everything.

Will make his house gaming themed.

One part of the island is dedicated to recreating the cafe and fill it with references to you and his other friends.

Eager to get his friendship up with all his villagers, loves to give them gift and talks to them daily.

Loves the Nookmile tickets/ Kapp'n trips and goes on them whenever he can.

Giorno:

Froggy Chair obsessed.

Owns the Sanrio Amiibo cards and decorates with it.

Also has all the villager amiibo cards and everyone is welcome to borrow them to get their favorites on their respective islands.

Loves the museum and eagerly works on filling it, gifting anything he already has to you.

Cute natural island theme with loads of plants and occasional duplicated statues spread around.

Made a cute park for you that has lots of hybrid flowers and cutesy furniture.

Loves all villagers, but his favorites are the frogs.

Surprisingly organized in a sense?

Like you, Ermes, FF and her share a group chat where everyone posts their newest decoration updates, what villagers moved in and might move out, turnip prices.

You trade furniture for the catalog and help each other's museum, teamwork makes the dream work.

Loads of pictures of you four hanging out in the coffeeshop.

One room in her house is dedicated to you and filled with references to your relationship.

Anasui is banned from all islands, and you designed a custom pattern with his face and a red X on it that all of you have next to your airport.

Johnny:

Johnny wasn't big into it at first and then got completely hooked.

Only Horse and Mouse villagers.

Western themed all the way. Kentucky state flag as his island flag.

Loves Gyroids and has multiple in each room.

Gyro and he trade furniture and ignore the museum completely. They are only interested in decorating their homes and island to have it perfect.

Made it big with turnips but refuses to explain to Gyro how it works.

Gappy:

Was confused at first why you liked the game so much.

Yasuho and you made him his sailor outfit and buy him some furniture to start him up with.

You two explain the whole concept roughly to him and then let him play.

You never expected him to figure it out super quickly and making loads of money with turnips.

His house was upgraded faster than yours and Yasuho’s, he began making his own custom paths, made an orchard on his island.

He quickly takes a huge liking to the game and loves everything about it.

He leaves the island largely as it is, the only stuff he really decorates are his house, the orchard (reminiscent of the Higashikata one) and the little area with his villagers.

The rooms in his house are all dedicated to a person that he then decorates accordingly to. (You, Yasuho, Holly, the Higashikata Family etc)

MOONSHADOW ELVES:

Moonshadow elves believe in oath and duty above all else. Their bond with the Moon primal is exemplified through their elusive nature and profound connection with the concept of balance. Stealthy and speedy, they’re well-suited to the role of assassin or scout. Though many are peaceful guardians of the forests in southwestern Xadia, Moonshadow elves are among the most feared kinds of elves. Some human cultures consider them synonymous with death itself.

Moonshadow elves usually wear garments that allow them to move quickly, comfortably, and silently. They favor dark garments that evoke the colors of the night sky and the shadows below, such as deep green and violet. Horn rings and decoration are a traditional symbol of marriage. Elves express affection and intimacy by braiding each other’s hair.

In ancient times, before they assisted in the banishment of humans, there were Moonshadow druids in western Xadia. Conducting their studies around the Moon Nexus, they created the Moon Henge, which allowed them to open a portal to the strange and dreamlike realm between life and death. Unfortunately they were forced to destroy it when the world was divided, separating them from their most sacred place of power.

Moonshadow elves tend to live amongst the trees or near the mountains. Because they guard their emotions well and the more martial among them are trained to never show fear, they can appear rather rigid to outsiders. Yet they incorporate dancing into their rituals more than any other elves, from magical protection spells to marriage ceremonies.

The Silvergrove

Deep in the Moonshadow Forest lies a hidden community of Moonshadow elves. Home to the most feared assassins in all of Xadia, it’s also known for its weaponcraft. The village’s entrance is difficult to find without a Moonshadow guide, and the assassins there might not have a warm welcome for every party that manages to get past their entryway defense. Despite their hostile reputation, the elves here value tranquility.

Stories of Note:

Blood Moon

Long ago, a group of Moonshadow elves embraced a forbidden practice: they drank the blood of still-living beings to extend their lives and enhance their magical powers. Their fellow elves shunned them, and eventually the blood-drinkers were hunted down and killed by their own kind. Only one is known to have survived: their former leader, Kim’dael, or as most know her, the Bloodmoon Huntress.

Flowers of Elarion (note: Katolis has its own version of this tale known as Lasair the Insidious) 

When the world was divided in two, an unfortunate elf called Lasair was stranded in the west. Lasair lived in fear of human hunters and mages, tormented and lonely for years. While not a thief by nature, they began to take items left unattended out of necessity, but never without an exchange. Lasair left beautiful blooms called flowers of Elarion, rare and precious blossoms that glow with soft light and have a scent that can soothe the most ragged spirit. While Lasair hoped the trade would lay the grounds for friendship with humans—a fair exchange of beloved for beloved—they never saw the precious blossoms fade and turn to cold ashes when exposed to the dawn. They never learned their gift was perceived as a curse, not a trade, and never knew why their name drew ire and hatred across the Human Kingdoms.

“Din.”

You’ve been like this for hours.

He doesn’t know what’s come over you, doesn’t quite understand it, but you’ve been squirming in your seat every since the Crest lifted off of Nevarro. He’d made it a few parsecs away before you’d stared calling to him, your voice dripping with affection, laced with something much deeper, something that wormed it’s way beneath his helmet and right down into the barrel of his chest, making his muscles ache.

It’s just been the two of you for a while, since he returned the kid to his own kind, since he rescued you from a less than pleasant situation on Coruscant. The connection between you was instant, something Din couldn’t quite explain, but he did his best, finding the best way to do that was to show you.

His way of showing you meant fucking you senseless any and every chance he got, pressing you against the walls of his ship, still dressed in his armour, or crawling over you in the dead of night while the Crest floated through the edges of space, naked as the day he was born, pulling sounds from you that are meant for his ears only, disappearing into the darkness but imprinting in his mind. 

He couldn’t get enough of you, truly, craving your presence any and every time he left your side, off chasing a bounty or trading information on some backwater planet. Din always found his thoughts wandering to you, back on his ship or at the inn you’d found for the night or wherever he’d left you, making sure you were safe before he even considered going anywhere.

So therein lies the problem, because you’re calling his name like that, and he’s trying his hardest to focus on the wide expanse of space before him, trying not to let his eyes slide to the side of his visor, because he knows he’ll be able to catch sight of you that way, and he knows that if he sees you, sees the desperate look on your face that matches the tone in your voice, he’ll be done for. And then you’re never going to make it to Tatooine.

But then you do it again.

“Din.”

It makes the hair on the back of his neck stand on end, gloved hands gripping the steering console even tighter, and he grits out the word: “What.”

He hears your breathy inhale, but still refuses to let himself look. You probably have your head thrown back against the headrest, your pretty neck on display, hands curled around the armrests. “I need…”

“What?” he presses, still not looking. “What do you need?”

A pause, and then, “I need you.”

“We can’t stop,” he answers quickly, “We should have been on Tatooine hours ago.”

“Does it matter,” you ask, “really? Cobb can handle himself until we arrive.”

Din bristles. He’d taken you to Tatooine shortly after you met, called back to Mos Pelgo, and Cobb Vanth had taken an instant liking to you, flirting his handsome face off any chance he got. Din didn’t like it.

The memory of the jealousy, of hearing Vanth’s name on your lips, that’s probably what pushes him to say: “Come here.”

“Thank the Maker,” he hears you mumble, then the click of your seatbelt. Din reaches for the level on the side of the captain’s chair, pushing the seat backwards and leaning back slightly. You waste no time, clambering onto his lap in record time. As you settle into him, Din realizes…

…you’re not wearing pants.

Your tunic is long, hitting the middle of your thighs, and as you roll your hips down he can feel your heat through his flight-suit, scorching and wet, soaking the fabric almost instantly. He settles his hands on your thighs, gripping you tightly. “You’re a needy little thing today.”

“It’s been too long,” you whine, hands settling on his pauldrons, tracing your fingers over the beskar. “I have needs, you know.”

“It’s barely been a day,” Din counters, tilting his helmeted head to the side. “You’re greedy.”

“Needy,” you repeat, lifting a finger and pointing it at his visor, “not greedy.” You grind down into him, and Din can feel himself twitching to attention, but his gaze is preoccupied with your bare core dragging along the seam of his flight-suit. You toss your head back on your shoulders, lifting your hips before rolling them into him once more. “There’s a difference.”

“Then take what you need, mesh’la,” he says softly, the endearment rolling of his tongue easily. It makes you smile amid your pleasure, your face lighting up, and Din doesn’t think he’s ever seen a more beautiful sight. “Take whatever you need.”

“Hold my hips,” you command, and he obeys, gloved hands sliding up from your legs to your waist, curling around your hips.

Your hands adjust as well, one moving to the middle of his chest plate, fingers hooking around the top edge. Your other hand moves to the back of his neck, sliding beneath the edge of his helmet, and Din feels his cock jump when your fingers lock in his hair, pulling as much as the helmet will allow.

“You look so beautiful like this,” he tells you, watching as your mouth drops open in a gasp as you drag yourself along him again. He’s fully hard now, pressing against the crotch of the fligh—suit, and he can’t stop his own groan when he feels you move right against him, fabric the only thing separating you two. “I want to watch you come undone, mesh’la.”

You nod, starting to get frantic, pressing into him as hard as you can. Din catches onto your movements, your rhythms, and helps guide you, canting his own hips up when he can, giving you an extra bit of pleasure. He’s right; you do look beautiful like this, spread on his lap, backlit by the wide expanse of the galaxy behind you, the stars in the sky matching with the stars in your eyes as you look back at him. There’s no way for you to know that you’re holding his gaze, but you are, Din makes sure of it, keeps his eyes glued to yours as you start to crest, body twisting as the pleasure overtakes you, leaving you panting and sighing and gasping, collapsing against his chest.

He lets his hand drag up and down your back, waiting for you to catch your breath. You shuffle back slightly once you do, and Din glances down, catching sight of the drenched crotch of his flight-suit, the evidence of your orgasm making the fabric shine in the dim light of the cockpit.

He reaches around you, flicks off the flight guidance, and shifts the ship into stasis. “What are you doing?” you ask, and beneath the helmet, he’s grinning.

"See what a mess you've made of me?" he asks, gesturing to his crotch, and pinching your chin between his forefinger and thumb. “We’re only just getting started, mesh’la. Tatooine can wait.”

You’re up like a shot, pulling him out of the captain’s chair and towards the bunk of the ship. “Thank the Maker.”

Hiya! I’ve been extremely interested in Cdrama’s as of late and the costumes! Now in some of these dramas there are dancing scenes. But I saw that not all the dancing scenes are done in chinese clothes. I saw one scene where they wore a ‘bedlah’. Can I get your input wether this is just modern aesethic or not. Thank you for your time in answering our asks!

Hi, thanks for the question!

I know what you’re referring to - in Chinese historical costume (guzhuang) dramas, you can occasionally see characters wearing bedlahs or bedlah-like outfits for dance scenes. Example below - a character wearing bedlah for a dance scene in historical Cdrama Myth of Sword (x):

Bedlahs typically show up as dance costumes in historical Cdramas for the following reasons:

To give the dance a seductive/sensual air (of course this can be achieved with Chinese clothing, but bedlahs add an additional element of mystery and/or “exoticness”) 

To suggest/signify Xiyu influence. Xiyu (西域), lit. “Western Regions”, was a historical name specified in the Chinese chronicles between the 3rd century BC to the 8th century AD that referred to the regions west of Yumen Pass, most often Central Asia or sometimes more specifically the easternmost portion of it (e.g. Altishahr or the Tarim Basin in southern Xinjiang), though it was sometimes used more generally to refer to other regions to the west of China as well, such as the Indian subcontinent (as in the novel Journey to the West)

For example, Tang dynasty-set Cdrama Beauties in the Closet features a bedlah dance scene, in which animal spirits disguised as women perform a dance to seduce the emperor (x). The Tang dynasty is famous for its Silk Road trade route that enabled strong relations with the empires to its west (ex: Byzantine, Persian, Arabian). The Tang capital Chang'an became an international metropolis, and foreign clothing & hairstyles became trendy. In Chang’an and Luoyang, Turkish and Persian fashions were highly sought after (x). Thus, the bedlahs in this scene serve to emphasize the seductiveness of the dance, as well as make a nod to the multicultural nature of Tang society:

Another example comes from the historical Cdrama The Great Dunhuang, which is based on the history of the oasis city of Dunhuang, which lies on the ancient Silk Road. In this scene, Meiduo, a princess from the ancient Kingdom of Khotan, dances a feitian (apsara) dance in feitian costume (x). Feitian costumes as depicted in Chinese media have similarities with bedlah, as can be seen below:

With all that said, though, the use of bedlahs in historical Cdrama costuming is still a modern aesthetic, due to the simple fact that the bedlah as we know it today is a modern 20th-century Egyptian belly dance costume influenced by European theatrical attire (1/2):

“The bedlah is essentially a Westernized creation, though not a wholly Western creation. What really cinched its iconic popularity in dance was the golden age of Egyptian Cinema in the 50s-70s, when Egyptian movies still largely cast professional dancers for dance roles. These Egyptian dancers, directors, and costumers sought inspiration from Hollywood and American culture - the bedlah is basically an Egyptianized iteration of the types of costuming that American dancers and showgirls were wearing. (Think Vegas, burlesque, cabaret, lounge and nightclub culture, in addition to movies/popular music culture.)” (Source)

Needless to say, this particular type of outfit did not even exist prior to the 1900s, much less during the Tang dynasty.

So why do they show up in historical Cdramas? As I’ve mentioned many times before (1/2/3), historical Chinese dramas tend to take a lot of liberties in their costume design. And indeed, this is one of those cases. I chalk it up to a combination of trying to appeal to modern audience’s aesthetics/expectations & lack of resources/attention. Researching & creating historically accurate outfits is a lot more difficult than slapping on a bedlah and calling it a day. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To be fair, this misunderstanding is a worldwide phenomenon, not just a Chinese one. For example, I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that Disney’s depiction of Princess Jasmine in a bedlah in Aladdin played a huge role in propagating the perception that the bedlah was an actual “ancient” historic outfit. This influence is especially noticeable in the recent Chinese “Xiyu aesthetic” fashion trend. Below are two Xiyu-style outfits with the theme “Loulan Princess” (the Loulan Kingdom was an ancient kingdom based around an important oasis city along the Silk Road) (x):

The “Princess Jasmine effect” is quite strong, wouldn’t you say? :P

Breaking Bad Color Theory

The popular western TV show, Breaking Bad, is possibly one of the greatest shows of all time. The term "Shakespearian" has been used more than once to describe it (usually compared to Macbeth). Just watching the first season of the show, you immediately notice that it has strong and vibrant colors. Characters (for example, Marie) also have their "usual" colors. Try to imagine Walter wearing blue, you just can not, it is strange. So, what do these colors actually mean? That is what this post is about.

BIG BREAKING BAD SPOILERS, MINOR BETTER CAUL SAUL SPOILERS AHEAD!

In the image above, you can see that characters have usual colors, or that their colors change with them throughout the story. Let's look at what each of these mean, and their characters.

GREEN

Green represents pride and greed. Green is the color of money, signifying greed. Green is almost always worn by Walter White. Walter's greed destroys him by the end of the story. In season one, shortly after Walter tells his family he has stage 3A lung cancer, Skyler organizes a "family talk". Walter is wearing green in this scene, because his pride is making him choose to not get chemotherapy when it would benefit the family most, and it is important to Skyler.

YELLOW

Yellow represents anything that has to do with meth. The Pollos Hermanos uniform is yellow, hazmat suits are yellow, and the Mexico flashbacks are yellow. Jesse and Gus are most commonly seen in yellow, although most characters are (Walter). For example, Walter noticed the yellow on the doctor's jacket, because he is focusing on the meth industry, not his health or family.

BLUE

Blue represents loyalty and honesty. Skyler almost always wears blue at the beginning of the show, but her colors start turning more black (See the first image for reference). Skyler's eyes are blue, and her name is a reference to the blue sky.

RED

Red represents danger, violence, and "bad guys" (as the opposite to blue). Red is the color of blood and danger. Out of the main cast, Jesse is seen to wear the most red. A character will most likely wear red when they are going to do something violent (see the Jesse gun scene). In the image for the final season of Better Call Saul-

-Jimmy (AKA Saul) is seen putting a red coat on. This symbolizes what the show is about, Jimmy's transition from good to bad. There is no real reason for Jimmy to choose bad (the same applies to Walter) he solely chooses it because it is bad.

PINK

Pink is the color of youth and immaturity in Breaking Bad. All the presents at Holly's baby shower are pink, Holly's room is pink, the teddy bear is pink, and Jesse's last name (Pinkman) is symbolism of his immaturity.

PURPLE

Purple is one of the most obvious colors, with Marie's house being covered in it. In Breaking Bad, purple represents self-deception, luxury, and not having to do with the meth trade (purple is the polar opposite of yellow). Throughout history, purple has been the color of luxury and riches. Saul Goodman (Jimmy) and Marie are the two main characters who wear purple.

BEIGE

Beige is a bland color, representing plain, basic, and, most importantly, not being a danger to our protagonists. Walter wears beige while teaching, and most notably, the beige party in season one. "Jesus, guess we didn't get the "beige" memo." Is said by Skyler when they first come to the party.

BLACK

Black is the absence of color, representing death and emptiness in Breaking Bad. Walter White's old business partner's name is Elliott Schwartz, "Schwartz" is German for black. The black and white creates a contrast between our protagonist and Elliot.

WHITE

White is the opposite of black, representing life and innocence (Strange for it to be Walter's last name, right? /j) White is the name of our protagonist's family, Walter strips down in to his white underwear in the first season, the symbolism being that Walter had a new beginning in the meth industry. White is usually seen on Skyler, but Marie wears it some.

CONCLUSION

Thank you for reading this post. Breaking Bad changed the way colors are done on TV, I can't watch anything without thinking, "Oh! Red!" anymore. /lh

on the schedule it says 'subway bosses ingo and emmet guest lecturers' but its just ingo there by himself giving it. emmets battling kids/maybe giving criticisms/waiting for his daughter in the courtyard. cant be assed to be in a classroom unless its with inka or emma. clay would be So Fucking Embarrassing (affectionate) as a dad i can feel it in my bones, lacey and inka need to trade numbers and have penny in a group chat to lament about their dads. the family heirloom cowboy hat haunts lacey.

You think the cowboy would embarrass his poor daughter? How many bad western-isms can he use in one sitting? The heirloom cowboy hat isn't as bad as your dad wanting you to wear suede tassel hell clothing lmao.

Kids are asking Ingo where his brother is, and he just looks at the door and sighs. Emmet said he would battle whoever comes up to him, but he needed to see Inka while she was here. There would be an exception for Emma if she showed up to the class, however. Ingo has to beg his niece to please linger so he can have backup. She understands but also wants to bother her little sister. Being Ingo is suffering. (At least Erin is there. Seeing his little boy instantly calms him down. Even if Erin is trying to hide behind him from Kieran.)

There is an actual line of kids waiting to go up against Emmet. They are local celebrities after all, and if anyone has ever ridden the subway back in Unova, they know who they are. Beating them would be a wonderful claim around school… except it's next too impossible. Emmet is genuinely too good and refuses to hold back, especially against students aiming to be professional trainers. The only two who manage to keep him momentarily distressed are his daughters. (Well, three if Erin tries against him, which he might. Ingo might force him, or Emmet might hunt him down himself to make sure he isn't slacking.)

Also, Inka and Emma take him down to the artificial Chargestone Cave, and he just stares at the Joltiks and Galvantulas scuttling about in wonder. There is also the Tynamo lines around and he giggles at one nuzzling into his hand. He is in love. Inka then orders him to let out the rest of his Joltiks because she heard from some club member that the numbers were down. Emmet scolds her for trying to get rid of some of her siblings.

Penny, Lacey and Inka cross-school club of Dad, Please Stop Calling Me, I Told You I Was Fine. (They do not stop calling them.)

Has anyone had anything to say about izzy's little glove? I've seen the entire show analyzed back to front but i haven't seen anything about the glove. WE JUST DONT KNOW - on a symbolic level tho...

as "Izzy" as he is, he's also just like. So fully buttoned and covered all the time (a fully tied actual tie! on a pirate!) - he is a fussy little man for one and I'm loving the recent metas showing how he and stede parallel in that regard. Costuming is SO DELIBERATE on this show I can't believe anything is coincidence. Ed and Stede dress down, unbutton their collars, and wear the red dressing gown as they become more vulnerable with each other. At the end of the season Ed trades in his fingerless gloves for full ones - closing himself back up. But Izzy is covered from neck to fingertip for 99% of the show - an indicator of a character who can show ZERO vulnerability. He is Blackbeards RIGHT HAND MAN (and is honored to be so) and this is how he shows it; never backing down from the role he plays, never showing fear or uncertainty, never SHOWING HIS HAND. Wearing full gloves is very in line with this type of character design.

So maybe the outlier we should be focusing on is actually his uncovered LEFT hand??? Why would that be his one vulnerable spot? In the western world, the left hand is one taken in marriage. if Blackbeard owns his right, who has his left? Is it the only part of him that's HIS, or is it someone else's? Veronica: Loves classical literature, John Hughs movies, and Disney movies. The bloodier and more chaotic, the better. Red and Green are too disturbed to really judge or comment and just let Gold enjoy herself. Likes to collect He-Man toys but is often in a disguise when going to places like KB Toys to find them. Ram: A big TMNT fan, especially the movies and video games, but initially hides it. Is actually a pretty big gamer when he’s not playing football, and frequents the arcades to play the games albeit in disguise. An expert BurgerTime, Pole Position, Contra, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong player, and is very fond of Mario and The Legend of Zelda. Isn’t particularly great at sports games like ExciteBike and Track & Field ironically. A casual fan of Star Wars, and unsurprisingly his favorite part of Return of the Jedi is the slave Leia stuff. Battles of attrition are defined as those in which opposing forces do not confront each other in direct combat with the full strength of their teams but instead aim to wear each other down over a period of time. [U]nilaterally-imposed economic policy sanctions that coerce certain desired patterns of international trade and economic exchange may be cast as attempts to win a battle of attrition.

The latest headlines in the attrition front from Germany, the epicentre of the continent’s unsettled energy geopolitics after the launch of Western sanctions on Russia, seem incredible at first sight. It was only about a month ago when what seemed a dumbfounding report by Deutsche Bank predicted that "wood will be used for heating purposes where possible." The Business Insider headlined its column “Germans could switch to wood this winter to heat their homes as Russia withholds natural gas, Deutsche Bank says”.

Last week, Bloomberg’s Javier Blas tweeted with his “chart of the day” showing Google seearches for firewood ("Brennholz") surging in the past two months as Germans increasingly realize that firewood (yes, firewood!) might stand between them and a freezing winter with electricity rationing “as the country braces for natural gas shortages”. Germany’s citizens — living in the world’s pre-eminent engineering nation with its flagship BMWs and Audis in manufacturing, its world leading petrochemical sector typified by behemoth BASF and much else besides — face the prospects of surviving winter as their forebears did over 2 centuries ago, huddling around a firewood hearth. [...]

A few days after the launch of Russia’s “special military operations” in eastern Ukraine on 24th February, the U.S., U.K. and the European Union along with their closest allies (Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and a few other countries) imposed the most wide-ranging economic blitzkrieg on a sovereign nation since the Second World War. The sanctions launched on Russia were meant to devastate the Russian economy and force President Vladimir Putin to sue for peace on Ukraine’s terms or even engender regime change.

Russia responded with a “roubles for gas” scheme for “non-friendly” countries (i.e. those participating in the sanctions) as a prototype for all of Russia’s major commodity exports to a hostile Western alliance. In the days after the sanctions, Russia’s rouble fell to almost half of its pre-invasion levels, its stock market was shut, and its central bank jacked up interest rates to contain the fallout. Contrary to expectations and President Joe Biden’s boast of collapsing the ‘rouble to rubble’ however, the currency soon recovered sharply. It strengthened to its highest levels in 7 years while the country’s current account surplus surged to record levels by May.

This was due only in part to the Russian central bank's actions limiting currency outflows and raising interest rates. It was primarily an outcome of the surge in the global prices of fossil fuels and industrial commodities which constitute the major commodity exports of the country. According to a Reuters report yesterday, higher oil export volumes, coupled with rising gas prices, will boost Russia's earnings from energy exports to $337.5 billion this year, a 38% rise on 2021, according to an economy ministry document seen by the newswire.

While there was some fall-off in energy exports to the Western countries, China and India rapidly increased their energy imports from Russia at discounted prices. While China is in talks with Russia to buy oil to replenish its strategic reserves according to Bloomberg, India has been refining cheaper Russian crude to then export as petroleum products to Europe and the US. [!]

In an irony that will not be lost to observers of European affairs, Robin Brooks, Chief Economist at the Institute of International Finance, says that the West is “paying a high price” for denying Russian energy to itself, although EU “exemptions” to sanctions are multiplying. Meanwhile, Russia’s financial conditions now are almost as relaxed as before the war.

He also notes that the German current account surplus “is back to levels last seen in the early 2000s, when Germany was the ‘sick man’ of Europe” adding that Germany is “sick again now” having had a growth model that was “heavily predicated on cheap Russian energy”. The Nordstream-1 gas pipeline — Germany’s main gas supply artery — running at 20% level of normal supply and the resulting Eurozone energy price shock — is Putin’s grapple-hold across the throat of Europe threatening “catastrophic industrial shutdowns” and mass layoffs.

Russia’s citizens, while poorer, do not seem to be doing so badly relative to their German neighbours. Retail spending at cafes, bars, and restaurants is doing fine. Well-heeled Muscovites might miss their I-phones and Gucci handbags under sanctions and voluntary exits by publicity-conscious Western corporations. But ordinary citizens are certainly not searching for firewood this winter or worried about being able to have hot baths.

The battle of attrition between the G-7 and Russia continues as the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently went on “a charm offensive in Africa to regain the US popularity which was lost ostensibly during the Trump administration, and to counter the attempts from Russia to get more African countries on their side.” In pointed remarks to the press with Mr. Blinken sitting at her side, South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor said that she objected to “patronizing bullying” coming from the West: “Because when we believe in freedom – as I’m saying, it’s freedom for everybody – you can’t say because Africa is doing this, you will then be punished by the United States…. One thing I definitely dislike is being told ‘either you choose this or else.’”

Making the same point more diplomatically, India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar said in a June conference when he took questions from an audience: "I am one-fifth of the world's population. I am what today the 5th or 6th largest economy in the world… I feel I am entitled to have my own side. I am entitled to weigh my own interests, and make my own choices. My choices will not be cynical and transactional. They will be a balance of my values and my interests. There is no country in the world which disregards its interests."

In a speech delivered yesterday in Bangkok when attending a India-Thailand Joint Commission meeting, the minister defended India’s crude oil imports from Russia. He referred to the surge in energy prices across the world due to the Russia-Ukraine war and said: “We have been very open and honest about our interest. I have a country with a per capita income of USD 2000, these are not people who can afford higher energy prices. It’s my moral duty to ensure the best deal.”

In a blistering article last week headlined “Washington has only itself to blame for growing de-dollarization trend”, China’s Global Times stated: “The thought the US may move to grab anybody's assets who refuses to obey Washington's dictates is truly unnerving, which is now inducing more countries to diversify their reserve assets away from US dollars.” Russia, China and India have been engaged in efforts to facilitate trade via the use of their national currencies and a potential BRICS basket as the basis of commodity trade among those outside the Western alliance.

Potential future members of the BRICS bloc such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Indonesia, Nigeria and Thailand have made clear — either overtly or by their neutrality in trade and diplomatic relations with Russia and the West – that they will not “pick sides” as India’s Dr. Jaishanker put it. There is little reason to believe that the EU or the US can browbeat developing countries to join in the anti-Russia sanctions.

Financial and trade sanctions on Russia by Western protagonists has led to an economic battle of attrition the results of which remain uncertain and far-reaching. It looks increasingly likely that Russia will achieve at least its immediate goals in the military battlefield in the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine, albeit at great cost of men and materiel. Yet the costs of the Western economic sanctions on Russia which have boomeranged are far more consequential to people’s lives and livelihoods around the world.

The Western alliance, led by the US under the Biden administration, offers no prospects for a negotiated solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict as called for by Henry Kissinger at the Davos conference in May. Indeed, the mainstream media and Western political leaders have continued escalating the narrative of a Russian military defeat with a seeming endless supply of funds and arms by the Biden administration to Ukraine.

Pensioners and poorer sections of society across Western Europe and the UK, unable to afford skyrocketing heating and electricity bills, will be the most affected proximate victims. But even worse injuries to people’s lives and livelihoods will be among the vast populations of the developing countries that live in poverty or on the edges of it. The surge in the price of food, fertilizer and fuel as a result of the sanctions will punish the far-flung innocent poor the most.

Admission to many museums in the UK are free, so once and a while we drop in to get to see local art. Here are some photos of art with themes of colonization, injustice, and issues of our time at Tate Liverpool.

This photo is of a Palestinian woman in what’s left of her home during the Sabra Camp massacre in 1982. It is by Don McCullin, a British photographer who covered the Lebanese Civil War during his visits in 1976 and 1982. Palestinian refugees fled to Lebanon after the establishment of Israel in 1948 in what was once a part of Palestine. The war in Lebanon led to massacres of Muslim neighborhoods including Palestinians in the Sabra refugee camp.

The late Zarina Hashmi was an Indian-American artist born in India, whose family was displaced by the 1947 partition of India after British colonial rule. While her sister Rani moved to Pakistan, Zarina eventually traveled the world, staying in touch with her sister everywhere she went. “Letters from Home” use these letters from Rani as a basis for the art, as they are written in Urdu and printed along with depictions of blue prints and maps of the places Zarina had lived through the years.

Kader Attia was born in France to Algerian parents, and later grew up in Algeria. Believe it or not, this artwork is made out of food. Specifically, couscous, a staple in Algeria as well as the rest of North Africa. Near the exhibit is a photo of Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier, who applied modernist architecture during the French colonial period in Algeria near the mid 1900s. In this artwork Attia seems to shape buildings in the modernist style, depicting the ancient hilltop city of Ghardaia in Algeria. The buildings are molded in couscous, and cracks and crumbling areas in the buildings could be seen as weathering from both the city’s old age and French colonization.

Torkwase Dyson handcrafted these huge, black structures and placed them in a large dark space on the first floor of Tate Liverpool. Dyson’s abstract works “grapple with the ways in which space is perceived, imagined and negotiated particularly by black and brown bodies.” This installation, “Liquid a Place,” definitely displays this, with these huge statues of what seam like heavy slabs of the darkest marble. They definitely convey the weight of colonization for me, and the artist description of them echoing “the curve of a ship’s hull” got me the most. Tate Liverpool sits in what was once one of Europe’s busiest ports serving the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

Lubaina Himid was one of the pioneers of the UK’s Black Art movement in the 1980s. “Carrot Piece” shows a white figure hovering a carrot over a Black woman carrying her own plentiful batch of food and items. The white figure is on a unicycle and wears light make up, conveying ridiculousness or crude entertainment, as if a clown. These are cut-out wooden paintings that are life-sized and was made for, as Himid wrote in her description, “…the moment when you slowly realise that you have learned something quite useful about yourself which proves to be a whole lot better than anything ever offered to you for free.”

Kerry James Marshall is known for his colorful paintings depicting Black people in dark shades. He counters “Western pictorial tradition” and brings forward Black figures in it. This work shows a Black figure wearing a British royal guard uniform, holding a sandwich board advertising a fish and chips restaurant named after a freedman, prominent writer, and British slavery abolitionist Olaudah Equiano. The irony of this art, is that it does not show a place in England. It is a scene in Arizona, where a “London Bridge” was made to attract American tourism.

Cherry is five foot ten, but she gets up to six foot four with the raptor feet. She’s also really long and lanky, so she looks like a forest monster with her hair grown out.

Scylla is five foot two.

She also often wears big hiking platform boots so she’s not five foot two. She hates being shorter than the interns.

Cherry’s way of showing affection is by doing acts of service or giving others little trinkets and such. Scylla loves this, bc just because she’s butch DOESNT mean she can’t have many LITTLE TREATS. Usually in the form of nice smelling soaps or fancy foods or what have you.

Scylla. Is a loser. Don’t let the fancy treats and good clothes and practiced introduction fool you. Her way of showing affection is to make a dying goose noise, and then clap you on the back too hard. Maybe, if you are VERY LUCKY, she will hold your hand without getting too embarrassed about ten seconds in. Cherry simply doesn’t notice these things

Cherry tends to be very cheerful and talkative, and Scylla tends to be very quiet and stoic. When they’re stressed out their personalities swap to quiet and chattery!

Scylla’s favorite holiday is scraps sale day when the trains come by to trade and sell a bunch of nonsense. Cherry’s favorite holiday is Halloween!

Cherry tends to shove things down when she’s mad or upset, because being upset outwardly is not allowed and very rude, in her brain. She doesn’t like the sensation of being mad, either. Scylla will make it known when she’s not happy, and even though she’s aware she’s doing it she can sometimes get carried away being mad before she calms down and it’s fine actually she just had to be mad for a second. Her griping is often meant to be mutual and fun, Cherry doesn’t understand that and gets worried.

Scyl hates horror movies, Cherry likes them. Scylla would rather watch an action film or an old western than a slow creeping psychological horror that has really cool puppets I promise scyl they’re SO cool

Cherry once had a month long obsession with yo-yo tricks so she can do some SICK YO-YO TRICKS. She does not broadcast this it’s a hidden talent of hers.

Scylla’s hidden talent would be animal handling. She can shear a mean sheep and hold a mean chicken.

In creating his NFT collection, former President Trump seems to have borrowed images from across the internet, including clothing brands on Amazon and Walmart.

On Thursday, Trump began selling his first-ever collection of NFTs, dubbed the “official Donald Trump Digital Trading Card collection.” The former president released 45,000 of them, each individually priced at $99.

However, journalists noticed that at least some of the images for the NFTs relied on photos of clothing you can buy online. For example, an NFT showing Trump wearing a cowboy outfit seems to be based on a duster jacket from Scully Leather, which is sold on Amazon and Walmart.

Another NFT of Trump wearing a tuxedo borrows imagery of a suit sold on Men’s Warehouse. Meanwhile, a separate NFT incorporated a photo of a $49 Western Sports coat.

Journalist Matthew Sheffield added that other NFTs seem to be based on photos from stock image provider Shutterstock and a news article.

That said, many of the other Trump NFTs are merely the former president standing in the same overall pose, but with slight variations that could include holding up a fist, wearing a hat, or even gripping a basketball.

To produce art for the NFTs, the Trump Organization hired a contract artist named Clark Mitchell, who’s done projects for Star Wars, Disney, Hasbro, along with other NFTs, including for sports athletes. Mitchell didn’t respond to a request for comment, so it’s unclear what process he used to create the Trump NFTs. For now, Mitchell has only tweeted: “This is def a unique day for sure,” after Trump announced the NFTs.

But we wouldn’t be surprised if Mitchell tapped the stock images to help streamline producing hundreds of individual images for the NFT collection. In many cases, the art for the NFTs looks as if Trump’s head has been Photoshopped onto a body.

LETS TALK ABOUT BEARDS AND 18TH C. BRITISH GENTLEMEN

Well, folks, I’ve seen some meta about bearded Stede Bonnet, and here’s some information that might be useful to you. Please note: I am only discussing how Stede having a beard in season two makes sense within the context of the show. There’s plenty to talk about with shipping and historically what “beard” has meant in queer culture, but those should be their own posts. 

First up: beards? Not fashionable for the Georgian Era gentlemen. In the 18th c., gentlemen were clean-shaven. A beard would clearly mark someone as on the fringes or entirely outside of society:

Eighteenth century men differed from those of the preceding centuries in their preference for beardlessness. This was the typical facial hair condition throughout most of the 1700s, when wearing a beard was likely to cast one into the category of eccentric, insane or otherwise unreasoned and ungoverned. (National Portrait Gallery, Australia)

To complicate this discussion, the definition of “gentleman” was in flux in the 18th century: did it describe a set of behaviors or was it tied to having wealth? (Encyclopaedia Britannica). Stede is likely using both definitions. He agrees to teach Ed how to be a gentleman, aka, manners and behavior. However, there is an emphasis on “fine things,” which require wealth…and wealth was most often acquired through land ownership. (Side note: I suspect Stede is landed gentry, not British peerage, and my reasoning could be yet another post.)

Stede’s narrative arc ultimately requires that he resolve his past and future. Most notably, Stede fully surrenders his property and land, giving up the traditional definition of gentleman. In the last scene of “Wherever You Go, There You Are,” Stede is dressed in plain clothing, a stark difference from the finery we see in episode one.

I’d also like to talk about Ed. Although shaving his beard is a Royal Privateering Academy requirement, he’s not unhappy to do it. This is when Ed is most hopeful about the future:

STEDE: How are you handling this so well? ED: It’s kind of nice just to take a load off. Just to… to be Edward. I don’t know if I want to go back to the old days.

When he returns to being the old Blackbeard, he draws the beard back on. To me, the beard is a visual signal of someone consciously rejecting society and becoming ungoverned by British laws.

Related, I’d argue that the Royal Privateering Academy is a liminal space, neither gentleman nor pirate but on the cusp of becoming either. It seems logical that this is the place where Stede and Ed can have their kiss: they are removed from their crews, neither one has more power than the other, and the future is unknown. They’ve managed to temporarily step off the track that’s been laid for them by virtue of their birth. 

It is also worth noting that the way they can have a future together is by leaving their current lives behind and going to China, a place most 18th c. British gentry and nobility would consider an entirely different world. This is a time when China had a lot of trade restrictions. Only four ports were permitted to trade with western Europe, and there were limited areas for accommodations around the ports. If you wanted to completely cut connections, China would have been a good choice.

1: Where in the Faerûn is your Tav from?

Like, originally originally? Somewhere along a major trade route that passes through the sword coast. His parents were outlaws and had to make do ambushing merchant caravans. When they died of some illness or other, he hitched a ride to a nearby large town/city and used his talents at misdirection to his advantage, and learned he had a knack not just for lying, but also for wearing others' faces.

11: Weapon of choice?

A concealed stiletto dagger, perfect for a quick, clean strike into the unsuspecting. Now that he's roped into this whole slay-the-absolute quest and has to take on hordes at a time, he sticks to the shadows and takes the hand-crossbow approach. It's more stressful than he likes.

14: What hobbies does your Tav have?

Since his prior occupation was "identity theft," he's been in the habit of picking up enough of his marks' habits and skills to pass for them without too much scrutiny. He always loved learning instruments best, but the only thing he remembers how to play without needing much of a refresher is the mandolin.

30: What's your favorite thing about your Tav?

The way he's delicious poison. There's something darkly thrilling, in the way that horror is, to see someone win over the hearts of those around him so completely that not only are they wholly surprised when he performs an abhorrent act, but they can be convinced that he still isn't that bad. That there's good in him. That surely he didn't mean for this.

Winter

1: Where in the Faerûn is your Tav from?

making me brush up on my geography :( A small village that won't show up on major trade maps and near the western edge of the high forest. That was over sixty years ago, though, and with the way Faerun is, there's no way of knowing if it's still standing without making the trip. Out of shame, it hasn't.

if you were to ask it, though, it would answer that it had lived on the road for so long that it wouldn't be fair to name just one place. However, its heart still aches for what (or rather, who) it left behind.

11: Weapon of choice?

Itself. The polished serpentine dagger it carries is turned on itself, and through blood magic it reshapes itself into whatever best suits the task at hand - something fierce, strong, and clawed for battle, something small and agile for fitting into tight spaces, something with soaring wings and far sight for aerial scouting. If magic is off the table, it has a regular metal dagger for stabbing.

14: What hobbies does your Tav have?

It likes to dance, and sing badly, and play the fiddle (not badly).

30: What's your favorite thing about your Tav?

It is so, so full of life and love, and also very pretty :)

TSUKASA!!! first!

Honestly, #1 best most favorite outfit is... his stock-standard kimono+hakama+western shirt set-up. You know in many series, you really are chomping at the bit for an outfit change, not SO for Jibaku Shounen!!!!

every detail is so entrancing. and so fitting for Tsukasa. The dark black silk with a shimmering texture, very oversized and slouched over his shoulders, nearly falling off, carelessly slack. It conveys his demeanor perfectly ... a kind of sloppiness that actually is naturally graceful and feminine? The kimono bowing outwards creates an amazing 'frame' for his chest, and the slit at the center, creating some sort of, truly intoxicating Zone. The shirt lacks prominent visible buttons, more sleek than Hanako.....

The hakama meanwhile with its front-bow, just continues the party, attention drawn there for shots when Aida wants you to be forced to gaze at his crotch uncontrollably. The many straps also pulling everything in about the waist, pinching, remind you that he's really tiny under there, under all the extra kimono fabric. I really like how utterly microscopic he feels beneath it all. The hakama really billows and floats and lifts up with twirls and air like a pleated skirt, so scenes of him showing off are breathtaking. But the shoes+socks that match Hanako ALMOST lend this, bizarre, crossdressing vibe to the whole feminine allure, I have no idea how to put it. But I love that the red finally comes into play there, and his top and bottom mirror his brother to call back to their twinhood.

I love that the inner fabric is often colored a blood red, it's just again so lurid and entrancing.

so hard to really order the rest! it'll get looser.

TANABATA MATCHING YUKATA BOYS!!!! ACK ACK ACK

The reveal of these yukata hit me like a truck at the time I saw them. Amane in the dark, moon-themed yukata, while Tsukasa wears the light, sun-themed attire; for both boys, this is one of the top outfits for them. GORGEOUS, HEARTBREAKING, MAKES ME EMOTIONAL. I LOVE that they are TRADING their usual symbolic imagery, adorned in one another's imagery .. some lovely symbol of, connection, adoration? I LOVE THE BIG BOW OBI!!!! I love that Amane's is a rich, vibrant color to contrast his, while Tsukasa's is dark! MATCHING DINOSAUR MASKS!!! This-- image is everything, it's like, eviscerating me every time. I wish they could figure out kissing at this day,,, like this. Beautiful utterly agonizing outfits.

I really love Ghost Hotel boy!!!

the night-time blouse is just so cute and... thematic? Scary, haha? It implies so much so quickly, so narratively effective, it's a perfect pairing for the overtly sinister vampire Amane. I love, love the pillow and blanket, further alluding that he was killed in BED, and, the little frills and flounces on it. He feels so simple and humble, and yet, the long trailing tail also makes it feel like a dress or night-gown, right? White is always nice on an innocent Tsukasa!

incredible. I dunno I love that Tsukasa's is red and purple. Amane's is this green and red (green feels so basic in a way...). I love that Tsukasa has the really cool and exotic toys of mosasaur (?) and plesiosaur (?) while Amane has more basic triceratops and trex. He really is 'normal'. I love that they have, on their, white tops under the kigu??? Why lol? Their respective different collars are seen. Why did this image happen? I don't know, but, it's fantastic, and, I love to see it.... please have fun boys....

from a random Picture Perfect era image. Little dinosaur in his pocket... holding his halo in his hand... long looong shirt, like dress, cute bow on chest.... his top looks longer and more dress-ish than Amane's, which has a trim more similar to his gakuran. Tsukasa looks nice in white as always! I wish he was always this comfy looking.

overall, I love Tsukasa in more frilly, fanciful, ornate clothing. these petal-like sleeves... evoking flowers or feathers... he is Amane's protected treasure, isn't he?

a delicate flower, your otouto you killed. Wonderful! I guess in this kind of garb, it feels like taking what the hakama+kimono provides, and, just increases the volume, this, graceful and pretty quality of Tsukasa's, something Amane lacks.

overall, I love traditional clothing for Tsukasa, so I loved this boy, too.

in particular I REALLY like the striped bow cinching it, and the placement of the bow more askew, all irregularly off to the side and slack, it's very 'Tsukasa'! It has so much going on with its patterns.... and with this emerald butterfly fan, again that, wonderful feminine grace is happening, right? Love it.

the Tsukasa from the 'Ace King' or whatever cardset AU. This Tsukasa's Amane is implied to have taken his fucking eyes out? And now he appears to live beneath Amane's DERANGED EVIL CORPSE ARMY KINGDOM OF ASH AND BONE castle. Amane is so overtly VILLAINOUS in that AU, and the Tsukasa to match him is this-- CLOWNISH, SILLY, FUNNY LITTLE GRIM REAPER THING???? WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THIS AU??? Will we EVER know more???? But like the look is wonderful, I love the jester collar drooping around his neck, I love the striped pants, I love the scythe, gloves. I think about him. Would love to know you.

now this 'sort of' outfit isn't typically my thing but it has a lot of details that make me go, "hi?" like, seemingly Tsukasa wearing the world's shortest shorts under his ...... skirt? hakama? I cannot tell where the shirt/top ends and the 'hakama' begins so it has a weird dress vibe, but a dress with the big hakama slits in the side, making it some sortof slutty outfit. I could stare at this for a long time and still not UNDERSTAND what his clothes are doing. He really feels like he forgot to wear pants.

AND NOW.... AMANE TIME!!!!

well, honestly, it's all the same as before: his standard outfit is, phenomenal. Change nothing about it. I LOVE the gakuran, and I LOVE the mods AidaIro have made to the standard gakuran to customize it to Amane.

He feels like a labor of love, as he didn't ALWAYS have the red trim along the edges of his jacket .. it was added in after the pilot. It really creates this lewd picture frame, and like Tsukasa's hakama bow, it makes you zero in on his crotch in some images. All this... shocking red, right at his waist, in a perfect ^. Ugh... what deranged madman came up with that trim? As a result of it, his red motif carried from hat, to trim, to socks-- HIS SOCKS, WHICH ALSO, DID NOT USED TO SHOW ALL THE TIME!!! In early volumes, Amane's pants are long enough to basically always cover his ankles, save for certain poses! BUT AIDA BECOMES.. OBSESSED WITH EXPOSING HIS RED KNITTED SOCKS! And... I don't blame her!! They are the PERFECT little flirtation of color, but at this point, his school slacks are like capris, lol. It's so unique, then.

The material of his jacket is so... vividly thick, but tight, it always wraps around his ribcage tightly. I love how viscerally it 'shelfs' on top of his thick, leather belt; you can always make out the shape of his belt beneath the jacket. It 'rests' on top of the belt. The belt, which almost always peeks its buckle just through the ^ of the gakuran's petals, which so resemble the roof of the red house in their shapes-- ALSO A DETAIL AIDA DID NOT START THIS MANGA DOING, but gradually became addicted to depicting..... perfected.... the belt.....

His ever-deeply-tucked-in shirt often baaaaarely teased as the jacket rides up, ugh, this flash of white, I live for it, it feels tantalizing.

Meanwhile, the high collar feels tight, enclosed, so the moment even 1 button of the gakuran is wrestled open by shenanigans, it feels like a great loosening of Amane's strictures. The softer, wrinklier fabric of his undershirt feels delicate beneath, but is so clustered. His neck is such an incredibly busy zone, shots that detail it are very captivating to me. The double-collar is decadent.

His buttons are so cartoonishly big they make him look like a gingerbread man, he has 1 fewer than the typical gakuran, for some reason, so there are too few of them to be spaced sanely at a normal size, so they have to increase in size to spread over the area it seems. They are like huge gumdrops. I want to eat them off. Homf. The sakura detail beveled on the buttons is pretty normal for a gakuran of certain era, very ornate and beautiful detail though on an otherwise sleek boy. A touch of something delicate for flower-boy....

The gakuran has shoulder pads, which make these pointed tips out of Amane's slim weedy shoulders, giving him a more traditionally masculine appearance. It's imposing and impressive and boyish, I dunno...

Amane feels like a sleek sports car, he's so tastefully tricked out in key zones, but mostly a smooth silhouette ... and then his tsueshiro adds that little flavor of, what at first comes across as heroic and mystical, but carries a kinda, Villain In A Cape vibe as the manga goes on.

He feels.. incredibly 'held in place'-- everything is TIGHT, MULTILAYERED, KEPT IN LINE. When merely his HAT comes off or is pulled askew, it feels like Amane is falling apart!! If I think about him just finally taking off the jacket, I'll faint.... its the perfect outfit, it makes you want to peel him apart, beg him to let go of, something, let loose, untie-- perfect contrast to Tsukasa's loose, draping, pleating, billowing, floating fabrics, falling off his shoulders, pulling from his chest....

if I had to pick a fav here though it'd be the ice skating boy, I really love the slack jacket over top the turtleneck... and he feels so small, beneath everything, its nice to see him wearing less. All the other boys have multiple layers as Amane typically does, a jacket over top of the turtleneck.... but that one at least has it shrugged down, which makes him feel so small..... ♥

As much as I like Tsukasa in beautiful traditional clothing, I love Amane in it, too! But it's rarer for him to wear it (and often he wears his ENTIRE GAKURAN underneath it, which honestly ruins it, come on!!!)

this gold color is utterly irresistible on him, matching his eyes.... I love when Amane gets put in gold, overall, but its rarely an outfit I really like... I feel so lucky he has gold in this! Rare illustration! the white shirt more exposed is gorgeous.... its so rewarding to see Amane in an outfit like Tsukasa's... he can be beautiful too sometimes maybeee~~ heehee~~

on a similar wavelength, I really like the shroud he dons to save Yashiro from the village people in Sumire's boundary .... despite that he's wearing his whole damn outfit under it,

the veil being a golden-orange is just so beautiful on him, his eyes brought out... the white fabric otherwise, quite rare on the sinful Amane, its very lovely...

I think about this Amane a lot. He's dressed like some sort of, 1950s, dad, what the fuck ... the plaid pants, its like, christmas morning and he's come down to sit on his special leather chair with his, wife, Nene. He's wearing like. a smoking jacket or something. The textures on it are absolutely tantalizing though, I'm pretty weak to this era of robes actually ... and Amane in such casual slack flannel pants, urgh. What an inexplicable look. It's somehow still pretty 'Amane' .... why is he in a tie if hes otherwise in such "just chilling around the house" wear? I'll never know ... he's pretty nice with it though. I would like to blow him...... ?

very captivated by his knitted undershirt's thick texture, its tightness, and his legwarmers or thick socks... his red, tights...?? His short jacket is VERY alluring, just covering his shoulders like a tiny cape.... ornate around his wrists, big button in the center, he's simply incredibly handsome ....

This sort of outfit is honestly more 'busy' than I typically like (I'm not really the sort of shotacon who likes victorian aesthetics ... I'm no Ciel stan, you know?) ... but I'll be damned if Aida doesn't make me, like it, with the crazy details. I cannot believe Amane is in a CORSET? CORSET? REALLY? Ugh its cinching so appealingly around his waist, accentuating his ribcage JUST like his gakuran does. Feels so small as a result Pinched. The .. METAL COLLAR???? ???? his, married jewelery. His big feathered wings .... this Amane feels like he is, wearing, fetish gear, appalling that he can just look like this. I think the corset combined with the shoulder pads, giving him the same broader shoulders as the gakuran lends, is such a crazy look. I hope some day we get a really nice full-color full-detail illustration of this boy fullbody....

crab boy. from the, era of time where Iro kept going on crab-buffet binges every time the manga got a reprint ordered by the company as it sold out, and went insane only ever sending Aida crab emojis and constantly talking about crab. So you have this Crab Shirt Amane. He looks insane, on the beach in his full fucking black slacks and vintage shoes and knitted socks and an UNDERSHIRT under his CHILL SHIRT because he CANNOT BE IN ANY LESS LAYERS TYPICALLY. He's like, the epitome of Amane's, bizarre, broke ass clothing rules that cannot be broken in canon (unless its as extreme as PP), I don't know, as a result he's quite charming to me .... I look at Crab Boy a lot. I guess as well, Iro used to be so trembling and sobbing and whining and scared of the manga's success, begging it to do well, hoping people liked it, that the Crab Buffet era Iro feels so powerful and like, the energy of this charm is in the beach boy, lovingly so, I would love to go to the beach with him.

here's one very random boy I think of.... stained glass demon lad...

stained glass themeing is so, intriguing, beautiful really. Wonderful colorscheme. He has THIGH HIGH BOOTS and, GREEN, leggings/tights? Very weirdly lewd and eccentric. I like how long his jacket is, I like the colorful shimmering buttons. I like that the stained glass motif is carrying all the way to his hat, unusual. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE his red, red gloves, and sharp nails. Mmm... who is he? We will probably never know a single thing about this aesthetic illustration. Oh yeah, and this Amane has the typical sortof military aesthetic to him.

this is one of those illustrations I typically shrug off as "not exactly 'my thing', I'm not really the Alice in Wonderland AU type, nor am I big on like, almost uh, RPG style crazy weird outfits with like zippers and trenchcoats. BUT. This Amane is like lock-and-key themed. And. it feels. perverse? the. shape of the key ... Nene's decorations being these. red circles. this guy is so . creepy and awful looking and I hate his penis key. I hate his weird GIANT ZIPPER. That he is somehow both lock and key and zipper themed is like, jesus christ, what the hell is going on . I like, hate him, it's such a weird, image, he looks all creepy and gross, HIS WEIRD GLOVED HANDS WITH NAILS ON THEM ........ but it, is also, sortof, sexy, all of this, this, demon of, unzip and unlock. I've just spent so long wrestling with this image, this Amane. But at the end of the day, he can have me. Sigh.
