ON THE TOPIC of Mermay, I think I should make a Before Sunset verse for Dyanna. It could be quite fun (And maybe angsty!) to write her adjusting to life as a mermaid after she fails to get her antidote back and drink it before the titular deadline.

I’ve put Ignatius’s pre-Fragokinetic days on the verses page! It’s called Sorcery and Sandal, the title is a mashup of Sword-and-Sandal and Sword and Sorcery.

I’ve decided to rename the country Ignatius is from. It was Ephesus, but now it’s Cretaceum to keep in line with the way I name other countries in my world: Cambria is America, Permico (Permian) is Mexico, Arkheya (Archean) is Russia, Yuan Gudai (Proterozoic) is China, so on and so forth.

I was telling my mom about Ignatius earlier, and I said, “He flaps his ears when he’s happy, like some people do with their hands.”

When I went back to my room, I hopped on google to look up why some kids do that, and I got this:

I just gave Ignatius’s bio a few tweaks… And man, it makes me so sad

He tried to help an injured man, and how was he rewarded? He lost the powers he’d bet his entire future on and gained powers he never wanted that not only made him a pariah, but public enemy number one. His caretakers turned on him, and he had to leave the only home he ever knew and spent the next two years effectively all alone, a paranoid wreck. And this nightmare started when he was only eight! :(

On the topic of shadows, I’m currently writing a fight scene between Elias and Valeriya, to 1) practice writing action, 2) get a sense of how they’d wield their magic in a fight (Especially Valeriya), and 3) let plot bunnies spring up for new mechanics said magic.
