Disappointed and disconcerted by the end of the new Loki comic. It vibes with a theory I’ve been nursing for a while, but also… it’s comics, so an easier explanation is bad writing (or bad direction?)
Is there something deeper going on or what? It’s been years since Loki 2019. What the fuck is happening with this character already. Like not to sound impatient but I don’t trust comics writers to have a coherent story going on. Is Marvel bored of Loki being interesting so they’re pivoting his character to just be bad guy evil man again for no particular reason or are they building toward some kind of payoff at some point? I have theories but they’re contingent on this all being a coherent story and when there’s 83 different writers of varying quality all telling different stories, it’s hard to keep giving the benefit of the doubt. Throw me a bone here.
Here’s hoping Ewing will bring it home in Immortal Thor! Otherwise… man, I don’t know.
Just… not happy.

i really do wonder if we'll see the end of the mcu soon though cause the quality of the movies has undeniably been getting worse, and ive noticed a lot of casual fans (which is what most people i know are, including myself, at least a few years ago when i would have actually considered myself a fan at all) are completely uninvested in phase 4 and havent really liked any of the movies lately. plus with how fast theyre pushing them out, overexposure could lead to a huge backlash soon
#when i say soon i mean like within 10 years because the disney project plans stretch out so far into the future#i mean idk we might get a big collapse that cancels a ton of future projects like with star wars but i doubt it#avpost#but idk i think mcu backlash is definitely a lot more common now than it was five or six years ago#but then again i think of how like all they had to do was get people from the raimi trilogy to stand on screen#and that was enough to get a ton of people to consider nwh to be great even though it sucks#not that thats necessarily proof that the movies are gonna survive either since a lot of people also didnt like nwh#i dont know it just feels like every release is either middling reviews or extremely mixed reviews. only those two options#plus they all get like almost no hype and excitement and then they leave the conversation so fast#people were talking about infinity war for MONTHS before release. like IN DEPTH talk. big major hype.#and then after it came out people were speculating and writing theories the ENTIRE time until endgame#nobody is talking about doctor strange 2 anymore and that was like two months ago#in two weeks or less nobody will be talking about love and thunder anymore im sure#nobody even noticed eternals. nobody talks about shang chi or black widow.#even the shows like the only one that left any sort of impact was wandavision.#the rest just like. air. and i dont ever see them come up in conversation or online after like the first couple episodes#(keeping in mind that im sure the most hardcore of fans are invested but im talking abt the general population)#(which is like. probably more important cause you cant keep a project this big alive on a specific fanbase alone)

I have a silly and indulgent Very Important People fan theory:
Very Important People!Vic Michaelis is extremely insecure and lonely as shown by their dialogue throughout many of the currently released episodes. They seem down on their luck and frustrated by their lot in life especially in their career and their personal connections. They seem like the perfect character to go through a classic “self growth through a journey of meeting crazy characters” plot.
Each of the characters seem like out of this world caricatures of people they could meet out in the world, and some (like Denzel and Vic’s Grandma), seem like representations of those in her actual life (I also have a fun theory that the dolls were her childhood dolls). Many of the characters themselves point out that Vic seems to be down on their luck and unhappy, and in some way preventing themselves from happiness. Off the top of my head, Vic has referred to their father being murdered, a divorce from their husband, and struggling to get a “real reporting career.”
If I had to construct a story of how they got to this point I would say the death of their father pushed VIP!Vic into grief induced isolation and loneliness, which inhibited their personal connections as they were stuck in survival mode. The murder of their father inspired them to become a reporter, as an attempt to help other victims of violent crime, but they are struggling to find a foothold. Their unbridled grief and obsession with retribution for their father has put a strain on their marriage and their partner asks for a divorce. Maybe in their exasperation and the chaos of life they are spurred to follow a lead they have no business or jurisdiction to follow and they end up injured. It is in this injury they are experiencing this hallucinogenic state.
The VIP set itself feels very cultivated and its “old-fashioned” eclectic style gives it a vibe of a surreal manufactured reality. Each episode starts with Vic idly messing with some aspect of the set, before realizing the camera is on and putting on the reporter mask. In my memory, none of the people “on set” ever say anything, besides Vic and the interviewee, even when Vic audibly asks them questions. Additionally the cutting off to infomercials gives an uncanny feeling of parody, someone concocting the stereotypical formula of a show. Finally, there are the moments where there is an abrupt cut to a transition card from a more intense scene, almost to redirect the emotional plot. Overall, it has given me a kinda WandaVision vibe of a dreamlike state manufactured in VIP!Vics head in order to address their loneliness and disillusionment with life.
The closing question especially points towards this specific idea of VIP!Vic being stuck in this fugue state looking for answers: “What is the meaning of life?” This is both impactful if we go with the idea she is injured and experiencing this all in an unconscious state (almost "deciding" whether to wake up) as well as just in them searching for the next direction to go in their frozen life. What is the meaning of life amidst grief, loneliness, fear, and unfair circumstances? How can Vic find meaning? In creating this dreamlike fabrication, VIP!Vic is trying to recover and find a version of themselves who can live a more fulfilling life as they let go of the past which has held them back. “Remember to always be yourself, unless you'd rather be somone else”
TLDR: Vic Michalis is having some sort of surreal, unconscious dream where crazy characters are attempting to help them heal from their father's death, their fucked up social situations, and to find meaning and happiness in their life. Through the interviewees eccentricities they teach Vic their personal meanings of life so Vic can find their own.
(This is all just to be silly, I know a lot of it is just stylistic choices of the show and the nature of the type of show it is, but I just love the show a lot and this little theory came to me)

It drives me up the fucking wall that on a purely theoretical level, Darkhold-controlled Wanda could indeed cause more destruction than Thanos, but as far as we know, she didn’t.
That said, imagine seriously thinking she actually killed more people than him. Thanos is hundreds of years old, and he was going from planet to planet “saving” them for probably centuries before Infinity War. Even if we assume Wanda destroyed Defender Strange’s Kamar-Taj (which I guess is possible), that still leaves her body count miles below Thanos’s. (Unless my cynical theory about her inadvertently causing incursions is true, but hopefully it isn’t.)
And also imagine seriously thinking Wanda is morally worse than Thanos. Even if I were to concede to her having destroyed multiple universes… none of it was her fault. Just like the incursion Illuminati Strange caused wasn’t his fault. Yes, wiping out quintillions of lives is an absolutely diabolical crime, but how much can a person who is under the control of an evil book and doesn’t even know such a thing is possible be blamed for what the book causes?
Those comments are insane and it's even crazier that they were upvoted. You know I always try to stay away from the "you hate this character because she's a woman" crowd but at some point I wonder, if Wanda was a man and Thanos a woman, would they be saying the same thing? I doubt it. Look at how mad they were at Carol for being so powerful and yet we never heard any complaints about Thor withstanding the power of a star or Thanos being capable of wielding the 6 stones for no freaking reason.
I will admit though I had never expected to read anybody writing "Thanos wanted existence to continue and not the genocide of imaginary infants". No, he didn't kill the imaginary ones, he killed very real ones across the universe.
But what I hate the most about these comments is the comparison purely based on what, number of victims? Wanda never killed so many people but even if she had... that's not enough to compare the two. That's like saying Steve and Bucky can be compared to Zemo and his squad in Sokovia only based on the fact that they're military or the number of deaths they caused. Zemo was a terrorist, Steve and Bucky were fighting the nazis. It's not the same thing.
This reminds me again of that post with all the Avengers listed next to the crimes they committed, it's such a superficial reading. But I'm not surprised with the way Marvel is handling the story lately: The Snap is treated as a joke, Loki claims in his show he went to NYC because he was mad at Thor and Odin, the Asgardians have a Thanos-themed ice cream in Norway... but Loki is blamed for the invasion, Bucky is told to make amends for what Hydra did and now Wanda is called worse than Thanos and the Darkhold's hold on her is completely erased (to be fair, that's what MoM did after the first 20 minutes so I'm not surprised these fans are doing the same).
With the amount of hate Wanda gets, I don't know how we got so lucky to have a show like WandaVision.

Hi! I just saw your post on DS2 and I have a HUGE problem with that movie, and it mainly comes down to the fact that it fails (in my mind) to properly explore character development. To explain what I mean a bit more, the MCU is a franchise and that franchise is literally built on its characters. I mean, it’s not just “MOM” it’s “Doctor Strange in the MOM.” So, a lot of people are coming to see DS and Wanda and their interactions. DS had a pretty lacklustre motivation and I honestly didn’t buy his role as a mentor with how little time it took for him to let go of his arrogance, but with Wanda especially her arc is so neglected just so shel’ll play the villainous role. They set up this whole narrative for her in Wandavision ending with her grief and hope, but then just skips to her being utterly insane. This is probably even worse for people who haven’t watched the series and just witness her going from the end of Endgame to fully evil. It wouldn’t be such a problem if Marvel didn’t pride itself on its character driven narratives but it DOES. Rewrites or no, I felt that the reason the film felt so soulless was that it prioritised fan service and wider MCU connectivity over the thing that brings the audience and drives the narrative in the first place: the characters.
(referencing this post)
Hey Lovely!
YES UGH. And it's frustrating because it kind of forces people to get the streaming so they know what happened in the "in between"? like, Marvel shows should have NEVER been about "solving movie level issues" more just like about a singular character and their adventures. Like Agents of Shield and Daredevil were (to my knowledge, I haven't seen either). So yeah, to some rando, MOM just... seemed really weird? But even then ALL the characterizations were SO OFF and, as I mentioned, Doctor Strange became a secondary character in his own movie. It's like they wanted someone else for a villain and someone higher up said, NAW let's make Wanda the villain and oop how about this fan service and let's introduce a character who's powers are SO ridiculously OP'd that it changes the power scaling of the most powerful sorcerer in the MCU.
Don't get me wrong, I liked America, and I liked the Illuminati, BUT they should have NEVER been introduced in a Doctor Strange Movie? Like... it's weird.
I dunno, I'm seeing theories going around now that they're setting up Doctor Strange to be the big bad of Secret Wars instead of Kang, so I don't know anymore. I just... wanted a continuation of DS1, and Mordo should have been a bad guy in DS2.
DS2 just... is so convoluted and not even a DS movie? I didn't hate the movie, I just... felt it WASN'T a DS movie, like the first one was. It felt like it was just there to introduce the Multiverse in the most convoluted and confusing way possible.
And WandaVision, even though I didn't really like it as much as everyone else apparently, did a good job of showing Wanda's trauma. I just feel that DS2 really undid all that and just... made her a villain to sell toys because everyone loves her.
Ugh. Then again, apparently my tastes are crap because the only Marvel shows I enjoyed all the way through were Moon Knight, Hawkeye and FatWS, so what do I know. Loki was alright until they fucking shoehorned that horrid romance into it. Feh.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts Lovely <3

“I Too Shall be Saved by Love”
Corel Painter and Wacom Tablet - 10+ hours
A repaint of my favorite (serious) comic cover featuring Vision, The Vision (2015) #7. I’ve had this piece planned for over a year and this week’s art challenge was to do this, so I had no excuse. I’m so glad I finally painted this; I really love how it turned out.
If “Working Theory” had a cover, this would be it. “Working Theory” is my (insane) fan work focused on the White Vision. It’s canon-divergent as of Multiverse of Madness, and draws from the comics to flesh out the recovery I wish Vision had been given in the Comic 616-Verse and would like to see in the MCU. You can find it HERE if interested.
I ended up deciding on Age of Ultron, Civil War, WandaVision, and Multiverse of Madness designs for Wanda. I skipped Infinity War/End Game becuase I prefer brunette Wanda and it’s the same outfit as Civil War. I also thought about doing Halloween Costume!Wanda or black and white 50s!Wanda, but decided against it since The White Vision wouldn’t necessarily be aware of them. Finding reference of all the outfits was probably the hardest part of this piece, and I was very thankful for my Scarlet Witch Hot Toys figure to pose as my model for the angles. Wanda’s magic effect was done with some fancy brushes that are lots of fun to play with.
The halo effect is taken from some transparent overlays emulating JARVIS. Originally I wanted to use JARVIS’s hologram design, but couldn’t get a clear enough HD reference to look nice and this was more aesthetically pleasing in the end.
Here Original Cover used as inspiration:
Tumblr media
(My favorite not-serious cover is Avengers Spotlight #23, Vision Goes Hollywood. You can see it as my banner on this blog and I do have a repaint of it in the works to finish eventually)

Thoughts on will being the one who had created the Upside Down??
ST4 SPOILER WARNING
I think Will being the one who created the Upside Down is a really cool fan theory with interesting implications. I don't think it is going to be canon. I would enjoy if it's canon and there's some amazing posts breaking down how it would work. Will having powers and subconsciously creating the Upside Down would be a good plot twist, even if it's a little 'chosen one' esque for my liking (I prefer the idea that he was just unlucky, but the theory is still really cool). Plus Will would get to be plot relevant again which would be nice. As much as I like him having an internal arc about discovering his feelings for Mike, I really want him to have more screen time. Let's hope he gets some more attention in Volume 2, whether it's him creating the Upside Down or him being Vecna'd (I'm making it a word now).
Because this answer isn't that detailed, I'll break down some other theories about the Upside Down instead.
Firstly, it always existed. It's a parallel universe to our world so as long as our world has existed, so too has the Upside Down. I believe Dustin spoke about this at one point. This would make sense but probably wouldn't be a very cool or interesting backstory.
Secondly, 001/Henry/Peter is related to the Upside Down. In episode 7, we saw El banish him into the Upside Down with her powers. As he fell, he got struck by lightning and effectively melted into the Upside Down. As the years went on, he became one with the Upside Down and grew into a monster himself. But what if he was the source of all of this evil? The Upside Down is a hive mind and it is established that Vecna is part of that hive mind as he controls the vines and sensed the gang through a demobat.
Before S4, I thought this was because 001 accidentally got stuck in the Upside Down and got mind flayed so became an evil part of the hive mind. But he was always evil. So what if somehow the Upside Down was a 'peaceful' if inhospitable dimension until 001 was absorbed into it by the lightning. What if he is the mind controlling the Upside Down? He has much more power than the possessed people and retains his original personality. As well as that, we know he has the power to infiltrate minds. Perhaps Vecna infiltrated the mind flayer somehow and he's been the one controlling the hive mind all along (Agatha from Wandavision sort of vibe). This theory could work with my next theory as well.
Finally, Eleven created the Upside Down when she banished away Peter. This one is pretty self explanatory. We were told it takes a lot of energy to create/close a gate and when this happened we saw Eleven's nose. But even then, Eleven's eyes didn't bleed. Maybe this is because she used so much energy and power to save her life that she accidentally split the world into parallel universes. Or maybe the universe already existed but if was frozen. If her creating the second gate ended time in the Upside Down (as shown by Nancy's diary entries), is it too much of a stretch to believe last time she opened it started time in the Upside Down?
Sorry that this didn't hugely answer your ask, I don't think I've done enough research into the Will theory or just DID in general to talk about it. I hope my other theories made up for it in some way?
Thanks for the ask anon (:

WandaVision Episode 9 Finale & Series Review (SPOILERS!!!)
Here we are after 9 weeks the hotly anticipated finale to the first Marvel Cinematic Universe TV show has arrived. Season or series finales are often the most harshly judged episodes of a series. They have the difficult task of wrapping up all the loose ends, questions and mysteries raised throughout the series as well as providing a satisfying conclusion to the story. I feel the episode delivered the goods for the most part. There were a few things I had minor issues with but overall I was happy with the story they told with Wanda and Vision.
The main focus of this series was an exploration of Wanda's grief from the accumulated losses she's suffered since her introduction in "Age of Ultron" and how she ultimately dealt with that pain. In that respect I think the series succeeded beautifully.
Grief is a very relatable emotion as we've all had to deal with loss and grief at some point in our lives. It's all too difficult to face grief and entirely too easy to let it consume or overwhelm us. In Wanda's case the pain and sadness becomes too much and she chooses to deal with it by…not dealing with it. She uses here extraordinary powers to create her own fantasy reality, one born of her childhood love of tv sitcoms, a reality where her lover is still alive, she has a family, a home and she is happy. She becomes so engrossed in this fantasy that even she forgets that it is one. When anything threatened her happy reality she lashed out demonstrating just how much she did not want to deal with her grief.
The problem of course is that the pain is still there, festering beneath the surface. She's only put a bandaid on it and by forcing the residents of Westview to unwillingly play along in her fantasy world they too are suffering and feeling Wanda's pain as a consequence. In the end she chooses to face her grief and free the Westview citizens of their suffering by ending her fabricated reality even though it would also erase Vision and her children. Her final goodbye to Vision before the hex closes is heartbreaking.
Reading some of the reactions to this episode I think the series fell victim a bit to a lot of wild fan theories and online scuttlebutt which probably placed some people's expectations out of reach. While I avoided these I feel the series itself inspired these kinds of outlandish theorizing and conjecture because of its freshness and originality.
I speculated in my previous reviews about Agatha's true nature. This episode confirmed that she is indeed a villain who’s after Wanda's power which is one of the things I was disappointed with. I admit I may have fallen prey to the rumors of another bigger baddie appearing but the problem I had is that Marvel took a character that was an ally of Wanda's in the comics and turned her into a rather one dimensional villain. Considering the things Wanda has gone through I think it would have been more beneficial if Agatha turned out to be someone trying to help her and mentor her with her powers. There are any number of other actual bad guys from the comics they could have used for the antagonist role (including the heavily rumored Mephisto). I can see Doctor Strange probably filling the mentor role to Wanda in "The Multiverse of Madness" but I guess I kinda liked the idea of another witch character teaming up with Wanda. It’s irksome when a character from the comics is used in the live action but is really just INO (in name only).
The other criticism which I also touched upon before was the empty teasing of the Multiverse. One of the big surprises this series offered was the actor (Evan Peters) who portrayed Quicksilver in the X-Men movies reprising his role and appearing at the end of episode 5. Many including myself thought this was actually going to be the introduction of a character from another film universe crossing over into the MCU. Unfortunately this turned out to be more of an elaborate easter egg for diehard fans rather than an actual occurance of seperate universes colliding. I suppose they could still put a spin on it such as the Westview resident Agatha used as fake Quicksilver could really be the X-Men's Quicksilver counterpart in the MCU just with no speed powers. We'll see.
In episode 8, Wanda was finally referred to as The Scarlet Witch which is something fans have been waiting for. However the one thing fans have been waiting for perhaps more eagerly than the name is the comic book accurate tiara to be added to the costume. And it finally made its debut and it was a thing of beauty!
This episode also delivered the series first big action scenes with Wanda taking on Agatha and Vision battling his former physical body. While the fights themselves weren’t anything revolutionary they were still fun to watch and felt like they packed a punch.
The finale does answer many of the series’ questions while raising many more. What happened to Ivory Vision after Illusion Vision restored his memories? He flies off afterwards and that’s the last we see of him. Wonder when and where he’ll show up next?
Wanda is seen studying the Darkhold book at the very end when she suddenly hears the voices of her children crying for help. An intriguing tease which could potentially hint at that devilish rumored character being involved after all down the road when you consider the Darkhold is of hellish origin. 😈
I give this episode ⭐⭐⭐out of 5. It was a bit clunky in execution but was still able to deliver an emotional payoff and resolution to Wanda’s story.
The series as a whole: ⭐⭐⭐⭐out of 5.
Well one series down but we’re just getting started! Next up in two weeks, Falcon and the Winter Soldier! Can’t wait!

Marvel Sidelined Doctor Strange In His Own Movie
Tumblr media
When I watched this movie at the theatres, I was completely entranced. Despite the fact that I do not enjoy horror or gore, it did not affect my enjoyment of the movie at all. The change in aesthetic and shift in genre from what Marvel generally produces also did not faze me. After watching the TV shows of phase 4, I was used to changes in genre, tone and theme. So I was shocked when I heard that many fans did not enjoy the movie.
But after marinating on it for a day, I think I understand why.
Marvel’s Changes In Genre, Tone and Aesthetic
Tumblr media
Up until phase 4, Guardians of The Galaxy and Thor: Ragnorak have been the biggest deviations in genre for the MCU. Marvel has built its fanbase by creating conventional superhero movies so it’s no surprise that many fans are frustrated by the sudden changes in genre, tone and aesthetic. I’m sure that even just a few years ago, no one would have expected Marvel to release a sitcom. And so it’s perfectly valid to feel hesitant to accept change.
Marvel is evolving, whether fans want it or not. Phase 4 of the MCU is by far its most diverse collection of stories present (both in terms of the characters and the range of genres). In order to remain an MCU fan, one must let go of preconceived ideas of what a superhero should be.
I think the biggest reason why so many fans have reacted negatively to phase 4 is due to an unshaking loyalty to the movies that built the foundation of the MCU. Fans are so caught up in their own expectations that they fail to enjoy the movie for what it is. To some fans, this deviation feels like a betrayal but it’s not.
The fact of the matter is that the movies that built the foundation of the MCU are generic superhero stories (I say this despite loving them deeply). They lack diversity and you could find countless stories like them. Though we may feel a nostalgic connection to them, if they are all we receive, the MCU will become boring. No one, not even die hard MCU fans, will be happy if every movie is about the same white man who created his own problems through ego and recklessness (Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Bruce Banner, Hank Pym, Thor and so on).
Marvel Doesn’t Slow Down For Anyone
Tumblr media
Marvel has created such a devoted fanbase that they now expect viewers to have watched every movie and TV show produced by them. The truth of the matter is that the MCU is just one giant TV show. If you want to enjoy a movie, you have to watch every movie that comes before it. They don’t do recaps or give you time to acclimatise to the story, they simply expect you to know the context.
And so if you walked into this movie without having watched Doctor Strange, every Avengers movie that Wanda has been in, WandaVision, What If and Spiderman No Way Home at the very least, this movie will make absolutely no sense. Without context, this movie is trash. With context, this movie is amazing and the culmination of numerous character arcs.
Without watching WandaVision, you won’t be able to understand Wanda’s motivations. Without watching Infinity War and Endgame, you won’t understand why Wanda calls Strange a hypocrite. You won’t feel empathy for them in the same way I did, having watched everything related to their backstory. And What If will give you valuable context on the multiverse.
This movie will not slow down to accommodate anyone. Parts of it are confusing even for fans who have watched everything related to the MCU multiple times. If you are a relatively new fan, this is not the movie for you. In fact, most of phase 4 isn’t for you (except for maybe Eternals, Shang Chi and Ms Marvel).
Marvel Fans Need To Manage Expectations
Tumblr media
A major problem with the MCU fandom is our obsession with theorising. So many of us are so caught up in coming up with theories that we almost feel entitled to watching them be confirmed. We don’t stop to simply watch and enjoy a movie. Fan theories are great but they should never stop you from being able to enjoy a movie for what it is.
People were so caught up in their expectations of events that they were unable to enjoy the actual events on screen. I can almost guarantee that many more fans would have enjoyed this movie if they had spent less time developing and becoming irrationally excited over headcanons and predictions.
At the end of the day, we are not the writers of the MCU. We do not get a say on character or story direction. Even if in our heads, a certain story idea would be amazing, the MCU is not obligated to accommodate us. We as fans seriously need to work on our entitlement.

Can you refresh my memory, what was the Ralph Bohner thing again
It is the absolute funniest fan meltdown ever.
In WandaVision, Evan Peters shows up as Pietro in Wanda’s fantasy version of Westview, reprising his role from the X-Men movies as a little bit of a fun casting gag. That last bit is important, because that’s all this was; by this point in the show it was pretty well established what was going on in the town, and there was zero indication Wanda could bring back the dead or open up the multiverse.
So of course, as was the norm with the show, fans went wild with theories, ranging from Wanda pulling him out of the X-Men universe to Mephisto working his black magic. To say fans were disappointed that Pietro turned out to be a brainwashed townsfolk (you know, like literally everyone else) was an understatement, and to say they were angry it was all just an elaborate “boner” joke doubly so.
To anyone not stupid enough to take Pietro at face value, though, this was the funniest thing ever, and the fans shitting themselves over something they’d have known was never going to happen if they’d paid attention to the basic details of the plot was just icing on the comedy cake.

okay hello I was thinking about this when I was showering earlier and then completely forgot
Obviously there’s a lot of talk about streaming services right now, with HBO Max just wiping a bunch of animated shows from their service, with little to no warning
But I really wish shows weren’t released all at once now
I understand the allure of binge watching, I even did it when I decided to watch Dead End Paranormal Park, but I really wish there was time for me to discuss it with fans online, theorize as we wait for new episodes to release, etc. I wish it wasn’t all one-and-done in a day. I wish Netflix would do what Disney did with Wandavision, and have episodes release every week. Even if a couple episodes release at once, I want time to discuss it, and talk about what could happen next between episodes. I want there to be time for fan theories and culture to be created while a season is running. A show’s worth, in the eyes of streaming service CEOs, should not be contingent on how many people binge watch it the day of release.

ii) Is the new eleventh doctor multishot fic based on/inspired by or like wandavision? The laughter sitcom things just made me connect the dots and would love to know if that is what i think is! and ahh you're in mcu and marauders fandom!! ilysm for that! Makes me wanna be your friend tbh lol. oh and have you read all the young dudes, the marauders fanfiction on ao3?
My guy, I am so obsessed with so many fandoms - it's a problem honestly. But it's their fault for being so amazing.
I'd say the first fandom I was in love with was Harry Potter so yes please all the Marauders content! I haven't been a big user of ao3, but maybe I'll look up that fic.
And the mcu, YES! I've been watching all the movies and shows in chronological order and absolutely loving it. I love that wandavision reference, but it wasn't the inspiration for my new eleventh doctor series.
It was actually inspired by Supernatural 😂 Season 5, Episode 8: Changing Channels. In that episode the brothers are sent through scene after scene of cliche tv show tropes and commercials. And to escape the cycle they have to play their roles and pretend that it's real.
So, a little spoiler alert, each part of that eleventh doctor series will be set in a different tv show/movie trope. Fans probably figured out the second episode was set in a F.R.I.E.N.D.S sitcom.
And someone guessed that the third episode would be in The Princess Bride universe. You'll have to keep reading to guess what show inspiration will be for the next parts - although you could probably guess from the titles 😊
I'd love to be friends! I need more friends obsessed with the same fandoms as me so we can discuss plot points, fan theories, and character development.
I hope you have a lovely rest of your day!

"The first Marvel film of 2022 has landed, and it is filled with musical easter eggs... here are some of the ones you may have missed.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the second film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe centring on Dr. Stephen Strange, a neurosurgeon turned Master of the Mystic Arts.
Played by Benedict Cumberbatch, the character stars alongside Wanda Maximoff, portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen, a powerful sorceress, who was recently the subject of Marvel’s Disney+ show, Wandavision.
In Marvel’s latest film, Dr. Strange and Wanda experience the madness of the multiverse, and all the chaos travelling between universes can cause.
Highlighting the madness is a powerful soundtrack scored by Grammy Award-winning composer, Danny Elfman. The composer has previously scored superheroes movies including Batman (1989) and Spider-Man (2002).
From sonic throwbacks, to hidden visual cues, here are some of the musical easter eggs you might’ve missed in the new film. Warning, spoilers ahead!
Danny Elfman was brought on to write the music for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness after director, Sam Raimi signed onto the film in 2019.
Together, Elfman and Raimi have previously collaborated on Spider-Man (2002 and its sequel in 2004), 1990 superhero film Darkman, and most recently in 2013, American fantasy-adventure film, Oz the Great and Powerful.
Elfman’s original motion picture score for the new Doctor Strange film features 32 tracks of orchestral writing, with a ‘horror twist’. Raimi, known for his work in the horror genre, brought elements into the new marvel film, which was echoed in the score by Elfman.
In an interview with Marvel, Elfman explained while the full orchestral instrumentation was usual for a Marvel movie, he also incorporated a “special extra low brass sound that’s reminiscent of old-fashioned horror sounds”.

What other songs feature in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
We can’t go any further without addressing the epic fight scene in the final third of the film, Marvel’s first action sequence to use sheet music as a weapon of choice.
In a scene where Dr. Strange from our Earth meets a different ‘evil’ Dr. Strange from the incursion universe, the pair begin fighting in a high-level room that houses a piano and a harp.
Tumblr media
The ‘good’ Dr. Strange falls on a piano during the start of the fight, and this leads to music note-shaped balls of energy being fired by each sorcerer at the other.
Tumblr media
As they fly across the room, the music notes play out two well-known pieces of classical music, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 In C minor and J.S. Bach’s Toccata And Fugue In D minor.
The classical works are both weaved into an intuitive and immersive track by Elfman titled ‘Lethal Symphonies’, which successfully highlights every movement and blow during this magically musical fight.
Fans are divided by the music fight scene, with some saying it was the highlight of the film, while others complained it wasn’t serious enough to fit in with the overall tone of the film.
Our favourite reaction may be this tongue-in-cheek tweet response that attributes the scene to piquing an interest, for this fan, in music theory.
Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and Bach’s Toccata And Fugue aren’t the only pieces of music to feature in the Marvel movie.
Elsewhere, Wanda’s scenes featured a return of her theme from Wandavision, and a fight scene involving Captain Carter, played by Hayley Atwell was underscored by Alan Silvestri’s Captain America Theme.
Early on in the film during a scene where Dr. Strange’s former love interest, Christine, gets married, another of Bach’s works, Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring plays, closely followed by Prelude To Act III – Bridal Chorus (arr. for organ) from Wagner’s opera Lohengrin.
Music from previous Marvel creations also makes it into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
With the surprise inclusion of Professor Charles Xavier, played by Sir Patrick Stewart, in the film, the soundtrack appropriately includes the theme from X-Men: The Animated Series; a series which Marvel intends on reviving."

Yesterday I watched Multiverse of Madness and i gotta say it was awesome. I'm an horror fan and i loved the vibes. This is how i have wanted since forever for magic to be explored in the MCU.
( i'm properly tagging my spoilers but in case my spoiler tags aren't working. HERE I SET THE ALERT)
..........................................................................
The horror references were so freaking good (thank you, Sam!!!).
I got some strong Pamela Vorhees vibes from Scarlett Witch Wanda. That hyper deranged " i'm not a monster, I am a mother" was bone chilling and it reminded me inmediately of Jason's mother. When Wanda said that she hears the kids, that she dreams with them, i thought of the " Kill them, mommy!" in Friday 13th part one. Considering that there is this on going theory implying that Pamela used the Necronomicon to ressurect Jason, the comparison is perfect.
Can't complain, it was an excellent way to expand the arc that was hinted at the end of WandaVision.
