20th March >> (@Zenitenglish) #PopeFrancis #Pope Francis’ General Audience: Full Text. Holy Father Continues Catechesis on Lord’s Prayer.
The 20th March 2019, General Audience took place in Saint Peter’s Square, where the Holy Father Francis met with groups of pilgrims and faithful from Italy and all over the world.
In his address in Italian, the Pope continued the cycle of catechesis on the Lord’s Prayer, focusing on the theme “Your will be done” (Bible passage: from the First Letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to Timothy, 2: 1-4).
After summarising his catechesis in several languages, the Holy Father addressed special greetings to the groups of faithful present. He then launched an appeal for the populations of the various regions of Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi, afflicted by floods in recent days.
The General Audience concluded with the recitation of the Pater Noster and the Apostolic Blessing.
Catechesis of the Holy Father
Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!
Continuing our catechesis on the “Lord’s Prayer”, today we focus on the third invocation: “Your will be done”. This must be read as united with the first two – “Hallowed be your name” and “Your Kingdom come” – so that together they form a triptych: “Hallowed be your name”, “Your Kingdom come”, “Your will be done”.
Before the care of the world by man, there is the tireless care God uses in relation to man and the world. All the Gospel reflects this inversion of perspective. The sinner Zacchaeus climbs a tree because he wants to see Jesus, but he does not know that, much earlier, God had looked for him. Jesus, when He arrives, tells him: “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today”. And in the end, He declares “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Lk 19: 5-10). Here is the will of God, the one we pray to be done. What is the will of God incarnated in Jesus? Search and save what is lost. And we, in prayer, ask that the search for God be successful, that his universal plan of salvation be fulfilled, first, in each of us and then in the whole world. Have you thought about what it means that God is looking for me? Each one of us can say: “But, God is looking for me?” – “Yes! He is looking for you! He is looking for me”: He looks for each one, personally. But God is great! How much love there is behind all this.
God is not ambiguous, He does not hide behind enigmas, he has not planned the future of the world in an indecipherable way. No, He is clear. If we do not understand this, we risk not understanding the meaning of the third expression of the Lord’s Prayer. Indeed, the Bible is full of expressions that describe God’s positive will in relation to the world. And in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, we find a collection of citations that bear witness to this faithful and patient divine will (cf. 2821-2827). And Saint Paul, in the First Letter to Timothy, writes that He “wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim 2: 4). This, without a shadow of a doubt, is the will of God: the salvation of man, of man, of every one of us. God, with His love, knocks on the door of our heart. Why? To attract us; to attract us to Him and to lead us ahead on the path of salvation. God is close to every one of us with His love, to lead us by the hand to salvation. How much love there is behind this!
Therefore, praying “Your will be done”, we are not invited to bow our heads in a servile way, as though we were slaves. No! God wants us free; it is His love that frees us. The Lord’s Prayer, indeed, is the prayer of sons, not of slaves; but of sons who know their father’s heart and are of his plan of love. Woe to us if, pronouncing these words, we were to shrug our shoulders as a sign of surrender in the face of a destiny that repels us yet we are unable to change. On the contrary, it is a prayer full of ardent trust in God Who wants goodness, life, and salvation for us. A courageous, even combative prayer, because in the world there are many, too many situations that do not follow God’s plan. We all know them. To paraphrase the prophet Isaiah, we could say: “Here, Father, there is war, prevarication, exploitation; but we know that You want what is good for us, so we beg of you: let Your will be done! Lord, subvert the plans of the world, transform swords in plowshares and spears into pruning hooks; may no-one ever more practice the art of war!” (cf. 2: 49. God wants peace.
The Lord’s Prayer is a prayer that ignites in us the same love of Jesus for the will of the Father, a flame that drives us to transform the world with love. The Christian does not believe in an ineluctable “fate”. There is nothing haphazard in the faith of Christians: there is instead a salvation that awaits manifestation in the life of every man and woman and fulfillment in eternity. If we pray it is because we believe that God can and wants to transform reality by overcoming evil with good. To this, God it makes sense to obey and abandon oneself even in the hour of greatest difficulty.
This was the case for Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane when He experienced anguish and prayed: “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done” (Lk 22: 42). Jesus is crushed by the evil of the world, but trustfully abandons Himself to the ocean of the love of the will of the Father. Even the martyrs, in their trial, did not seek death; they sought what came after death, resurrection. God, out of love, can lead us to walk on difficult paths, to experience painful wounds and thorns, but He will never abandon us. He will always be with us, next to us, within us. For a believer, this is not a hope but a certainty. God is with me. We find the same in that parable of the Gospel of Luke dedicated to the need to pray always. Jesus says: “Will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night? Will He keep putting them off? I tell you, He will see that they get justice, and quickly” (18: 7.8). This is how the Lord loves us, in this way He cares for us. But, I want to invite you all together now to pray the Lord’s Prayer. And those of you who do not know Italian, pray in your own language. Let us pray together.
Recitation of the Lord’s Prayer
Greetings in various languages
French
I cordially greet French-speaking pilgrims, in particular, the Saint Jean Marie Vianney Society Seminar, the youth and all the people of France, Monaco, Switzerland, and Belgium. In this time of Lent, we contemplate Jesus in Gethsemane, crushed by evil, but trustingly abandoned to the will of the Father. God can guide us on difficult and painful paths, but – it is sure – He will never abandon us. God bless you!
English
I greet the English-speaking pilgrims and visitors taking part in today’s audience, especially those from England, Belgium, Croatia, Norway, Nigeria, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America. With prayerful good wishes that this Lent will be a time of grace and spiritual renewal for you and your families, I invoke upon all of you joy and peace in our Lord Jesus Christ.
German
I cordially greet the German-speaking pilgrims. From Vienna came the interreligious movement “Earth Caravan”, on a pilgrimage for justice and peace. Let us commit ourselves to discover ever more deeply the will of God, for us and for our lives, for our communities and for the whole world. Let us be ardent collaborators of His saving will. A Good Lent to you all!
Spanish
I cordially greet Spanish-speaking pilgrims from Spain and Latin America, particularly the Manos Unidas de España Foundation, which, from the Christian commitment in its campaign against hunger, seeks to fulfill God’s will so that no-one may lack their daily bread or necessary means in their lives. Let us ask the Lord that our testimony and our prayer be a wake-up call so that all men may come to the knowledge of the truth and be saved. God bless you all. Thank you.
Portuguese
I address a cordial greeting to Portuguese-speaking pilgrims, in particular to the Brazilian faithful of Ribeirão Preto. Dear friends, in the time of Lent, the Church recommends that we increase the time we dedicate to prayer. May such moments of filial dialogue with God help us increasingly to rediscover His infinite love for each of us and thus become instruments of mercy and peace. God bless you.
Arabic
I warmly welcome Arabic-speaking pilgrims, especially those from the Middle East! Dear brothers and sisters, Saint Paul teaches us that in our prayer we must open ourselves to the presence of the Holy Spirit, Who prays in us with inexpressible cries, to lead us to follow God with all our heart and with our whole being. Thus the Spirit of Christ becomes the strength of our weak prayer, the fire of our dry prayer, giving us true inner freedom, teaching us to live and face the trials of existence, in the certainty of not being alone. May the Lord bless you!
Polish
I cordially greet the Polish pilgrims. Yesterday we celebrated the solemnity of Saint Joseph. The protection he offered to the Holy Family is a significant example for us. As Saint Joseph did, we keep Jesus in us, when today we receive Him in the Eucharist and in listening to His word. With the same love, let us turn to Mary asking for support and good advice in daily life. From Saint Joseph, we learn trust in God, humility, courage, and obedience. Praised be Jesus Christ.
Italian
I cordially welcome the Italian-speaking pilgrims.
I am pleased to welcome the Capitulars of the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary; the participants in the meeting promoted by the Focolare Movement and the Deacons of the Diocese of Milan.
I greet the parish groups, in particular that of Gesualdo; the pastoral units of San Martino in Campo; the Campus Bio-MedicoUniversity of Rome; and the following associations: AIDO of Alessandria; “White Roses on the asphalt” of Senigallia; Active Citizenship of Bronte; the White Hands Choir Melissano, and the educational Institutes: there are many of them!
I address a special thought to young people, the elderly, the sick and newlyweds.
The journey of Lent, which we are following, is an opportunity for authentic conversion for each one of us so that we can reach the full maturity of faith in Christ, eager to spread His Gospel in every environment of life in which we find ourselves.
Appeal of the Holy Father
In these days, major floods have sown grief and devastation in many regions of Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. To these dear populations, I express my sorrow and my closeness. I entrust the many victims and their families to God’s mercy and implore comfort and support for those afflicted by this disaster.

Usa Vs Mexico 2013: Live Stream & Tv Time For 2014 Fifa World Cup Qualifying
A sprain describes injuries in that your ligament between two bones is stretched, damaged or torn. A Grade 1 injury rather mild with only minor damage on the ligament. A Grade 2 injury is a partially torn ligament and a Grade 3 is a ligament that is completely ripped. With a grade 1 injury, the time to recover is short with very few possible associated symptoms. There are a few online websites that stream live games, although individual football live stream experience these people has been very awful. What you will need to do is go through the game that you really want to watch from the games on their online business. Because the streams have to load from their web server onto your browser, frequently you discover that you might be waiting for your match to buffer as opposed to watching high-quality match efficiently. If you're staying in Dubai and has a involving money, I'd encourage you stay at al arab sport. It's a sail shaped hotel discovered on a synthetic island in the sea. It's one from the biggest hotels in the field of and is world renowned for to be a "7 star hotel." In think outside is amazing, wait before you get after only. The inside is blown out and still is as extravagant as it gets. The hotel contains 202 mega-luxurious locations. Each decked out on the inside most expensive decors. If al arab sport is too expensive to your wallet, I would at least suggest you pass because of it while in Dubai. The correct answer is a magnificent sight. For the Bills, offer defeated the colts 44-20 at Indianapolis in week 1 and the actual Minnesota Vikings just last week, 20-16 at Buffalo. Two different QB's have led they in passing yards their particular two victories, with Jeff Tuel throwing for 212 in week 1 and Kevin Kolb for 111 in week 2. Their rookie pick, quarterback EJ Manuel of Florida State, has been unavailable consequence of knee surgery, so Kolb will be trying to secure the starting job. Look for him to get a number of playing time now a days. The most distinct differences between the two main methods could be ease of installation. While your setup process for an actual physical satellite dish might you have to be complicated, sat tv software only requires which install it onto your PC, and also you can start watching during first minutes. I know I personally chose the Satellite TV on PC software because is simpler to acquire (through net download) and expenses less dollars spent. The blowout Hollins refers to was a 105-83 Spurs exhibition of which San Antonio shot a magnificent 48.3% from behind three point arc, and fladskrrrm.6% for their overall field goals in the rooms. It was that shooting that won the game, even though Memphis won the battle of it's 35-28 as well as the two teams had nearly identical turnovers for the contest. Memphis will now look to return to their basics and try to prevent the Spurs from going off again. The great news for the Grizz is that they've yet to lose a game at home, and seem to continue that trend Saturday get together. You are careful that you can do a service that enable you to football sports news online. Like I said before, some services will ever try to rip the money right rid of under and also your run. Rather than a service, make particular they offer good technical support and include any software that it ought to need for your service to jobs. No Greater Friend
The other day I attended a seminar where there was a motivational speaker giving a talk about making changes in our lives and how hard it can be to do so. She was talking about how we have to ask ourselves certain questions that cause us to reflect on our own strengths and weaknesses and how we should give ourselves goals to attain theses changes. I was thinking about this and trying to relate what she was saying to my spiritual life. How can I make changes in my spiritual life or in my walk with God? And then I realized something: I can’t do it. It’s not possible. I can’t make myself better out of my own will. I can’t do this myself or on my own. How many times have we said to ourselves, “I need to get right with God, I need to stop putting off my relationship with God”, but then we go right back to our normal daily lives. Or how many times have we said, “I’m going to start praying more”, or “I need to start reading the Bible more”, or “I’m going to stop sinning. I’m not going to do this in my life anymore, its going to stop”. Or “I’m not going to talk to this person anymore,” or “I’m not going to go to this place anymore”. “I have to get right with God”, “I have to change my mindset. I have to stop.” Guess what? You can’t do it. No matter how hard you try or how much will power you display, you will fail and you will fall right back to where you started. Why is it like that? Why can’t we make these changes in our spiritual lives? Why do we constantly fail? We hear of people changing their lifestyles all the time, we’ve seen these stories of people who are morbidly obese losing weight and living a healthier lifestyle. We’ve seen people who stopped smoking or drinking alcohol or doing drugs and turning their life around. All I’m trying to do is read the Bible more or spend some time in prayer more, but I can’t do it. Why is this so hard? I think I figured out why. There’s a difference between an unbeliever making a change in their life for the better versus a believer making a change in their life for the better. An unbeliever making a change in their life does not bring them any closer to God. A believer making a change in their life will bring them close to God And there’s something about us as believers that prevents this from happening - its called the flesh. I’m gonna go a little deep here, so try to follow me. Something we have to understand and something we tend to overlook is that in this world, there are two realms: a spirit realm and a physical/earthly realm. In this same way, when man was first created by God, he was created with a spirit and also flesh. God said, “Let us create man in our own image” – so the spirit man was in likeness to the spirit of God. So, before man sinned, his spirit man dominated his flesh. All aspects of his being was controlled by his spirit. His sight, his smell, his touch, his voice, was of the Spirit. Man was living in the spirit realm, within the framework of his flesh. His flesh was under the dominion of the spirit, why? Because he was in fellowship with God. How did he have fellowship with God – he was sinless. So, we have to understand one thing. God and sin cannot coexist. Where God is, there is no sin. Where sin is, there is no God. Why, because God is holy. Moving on, when man sinned, what really happened? God had commanded Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 2:16-17 The LORD God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die." Genesis 3:6-7 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. God said if they ate the fruit, they would die, but instead the Bible says their eyes were opened. How does that make sense? Remember that Adam and Eve were living in the spirit, not the flesh, so when they disobeyed God, sin entered the story. And we know that sin and God cannot coexist. So when sin entered, the spirit man that they were once living through and had fellowship with God through, that spirit man died, and the earthly flesh took over. Now they no longer saw through spiritual eyes, because their spirit died, they became spiritually blind. Think about, a dead person can’t see, so technically, a dead person is also a blind person. So when it says their eyes were opened, it means their earthly eyes were opened and they were seeing through the eyes of their flesh. From that moment on, God was separated from man because of sin. Man could not have that fellowship with God that he once had because he was no longer living in the spirit with God, but he was living in the flesh. Galatians 5:17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[a] you want. From that moment on, sin became a part of man. Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinner. Romans 3:23. for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Man is now born into sin. So what now? How can God ever have fellowship with his creation? If he can’t be next to sin, how could he ever have a relationship with sinful man? Fast forward to the New Testament. 1 John 4:9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 1 Peter 2:24. “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness;” Through the cross, the death and resurrection of Jesus, we once again are able to have direct relationship with our Creator. By salvation through the blood of Jesus and by the power of His resurrection, our spirit man can once again live. Romans 8:10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet the Spirit gives you life because of righteousness. Where am I going with this? Why can’t we make changes in our spiritual lives? Why can’t we get closer to God? Why can’t we stop sinning? Why can’t we pray more or read the Bible more? It’s because we are trying to do these things with our flesh and our mind – our flesh that is inherently sinful. Matthew 26:41 - We can’t do it by your own - Romans 7:15-20, 8:5-8 We need the Holy Spirit to create a change in our lives. We need the Holy Spirit to bring us closer to God. We need the Holy Spirit to guide us to God. Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. John 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. John 14:16-17 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. The Holy Spirit is more than just about speaking in tongues or using gifts, yes that is one side to the Holy Spirit, but that is not only who He is. The Holy Spirit is your best friend. He wants to have communion with you. He wants to talk to you. You should never feel like you are alone in this world – you have the Holy Spirit to guide you. He is your counselor. If you have a desire to be closer to God, know that the Holy Spirit is there to guide you to Him. You can’t do it by yourself. Sin separated God from having communion with His creation. But now through the cross, we now once again can have communion with our Creator. Through the blood of Jesus and His resurrection, our spirit man has life. But at the same time we live inside a flesh that is born into sin, and we live in a world surrounded by sin, so how can we maintain our relationship and communion with God? This is why the Holy Spirit is so important in our daily lives. Without the Holy Spirit, our sinful nature and flesh will pull us away from having fellowship with God. Let’s ask ourselves, what is my relationship with the Holy Spirit? Am I living a life that is connected with the Holy Spirit? What changes do I need in my life? Let our prayer be, "God I need your Holy Spirit. More than anything in this world, I need your Holy Spirit." God bless you.
