Just a heads up: If you’re pregnant and you’re using marijuana during your pregnancy, even if you stop before delivery, there is a high chance your baby’s meconium will come back positive for marijuana.
Meconium is your baby’s first bowel movement that forms between 12-15 weeks gestation. Anything you ingest within that time period (and even up to the last few months of your pregnancy) will be absorbed by your baby, and then excreted through their meconium. Most hospitals send the meconium for drug testing along with a urine screen. A lot of my cases involve folks who didn’t know they were pregnant until it was too late. They stopped smoking way before delivery thinking they were good bc their urine and their baby’s urine came back negative, but they still get a case with CPS because the meconium came back positive.
So if marijuana’s illegal where you live or you don’t have a valid prescription for marijuana, you’ll 100% end up with a CPS case. That doesn’t mean an instant removal (bc most states don’t really care about weed anymore, we just have to investigate bc state policy hasn’t caught up yet), but having an open case when you’re tryna care for a newborn can be stressful and traumatic. So be aware of the risks if you continue smoking late into your pregnancy.

was starting to hijack in the tags of that post i just reblogged but ohhhhh it is so juicy to me that the end of TKM is just part of the rising action of andrew's character arcs. and yet the way the novel leaves off, you can have so much hope in the ways its going to continue -- especially because neil proves to us on the last page that he's going to fight like hell to hold onto him whatever comes next.
it's just !!!! all andrew's deals are done. neil's big happy moment of relationship security comes from the fact that andrew didn't deny its existence lol. BUT neils correct to be happy about this, because he knows andrew is a black & white thinker, and he's entering unchartered territory! all his lil lies he uses to duct tape his sanity together are coming apart, and that break is going to be FASCINATING. i doubt it'll be explosive or anything -- andrew's more the "quietly self-destruct climax" type than the "defeat the mafia thru the power of sports climax" type -- but it'll sure be something interesting. and then once it all breaks, we know he'll have neil and kevin and his family and the foxes to help him heal -- and he'll have to believe it when they show they care about him, because he literally doesn't owe anyone anything

I follow several podcasts with people with accents from around Appalachia, and I think it sounds really lovely. It's awesome that your cousin is growing up without being pushed to change it!
:') thank you. I love the way it sounds too - - especially when you get up in the actual smokies (a subrange in the appalachians). There's entire dialects and slang up there as unique as the mountain culture! My uncle was a mountain ranger when I was little and he'd take me on the more kid-friendly trails 💕 Our local station had a series called the Heartland that would focus on all the awesome culture in the area (heehee my fav was always how goats are the preferred kudzu control). There's also dance and fiddle contests that are incredible to see! A lot of talent and highly skilled trades are overlooked simply bc of how the region has been portrayed as unintelligent. Appalachian folk living in the mountains are by far more intellectual when it comes to the natural world than given credit. When you have multiple slangs for "cougar", you have to acknowledge they have developed from a community that is so in tune with the local fauna that even cougars have a hard time sneaking up on people. That's crazy cool! Gatlinburg is renowned for the local black bear population and it's a beloved sighting when one trundles along a creekside.
I dunno, I just really love where I'm from and I wish people could appreciate it without treating the folks that hold it closest to their hearts as "hillbillies".

am currently working on a neocities site (which i cannot give you the url for yet because im working on the css still and there's no content also it looks ugly still) and oh man does it take me back to ye olde days of custom theme editing on here. i still use a custom theme obvs but back in like 2014/2015ish when i was really into indie rp custom themes were all the rage and you would spend hours editing some character specific image for your bg and then another several hours trying to make the css line up with your image (never at any point did i attempt to actually like. learn html or css. i just read other people's theme codes and edited the parts i could understand and solved problems as they arose. i distinctly remember one time i was using a base that had two sidebars and i only wanted one and deleting the section broke the theme in disastrous ways [bc i had no idea what i was doing] so i literally just made all the elements in the sidebar transparent and moved them off the screen LMAO. the best i ever got was moving from fully built custom themes that i edited to base themes that i built off of)
anyway while im slightly better now (im even reading tutorials! am i following them? sorry i have to go i think someones calling me) i am using a layout builder to build the homepage so it is even more reminding me of mid-2010s tumblr. much like building off a base theme, and definitely easier to understand than tumblr theme building (this time i at least know what all the different pieces of code are doing, even when im not sure how or why, or how to duplicate the effect under slightly different circumstances. but progress is progress!).
a good but annoying thing about the layout that im using is that i havent actually edited the site wide stylesheet, just used internal css on that one page, so when i go to make literally any other page i'll have to start from scratch. this is good because i am learning a lot and i think without doing it this way i would end up with a bunch of useless stuff in the stylesheet that really should be page-specific that i would have to correct with internal or inline css later. annoying because what do you mean i have to make decisions about the sizing and positions of the content? i literally just did that
also im kind of nervous to touch the general stylesheet because im pretty sure what i'll actually want to do is have a couple of stylesheets for different 'sections' of the website, to maintain cohesion between pages of the 'same' type but still allow a lot of fun customization on a per-page basis, but that requires deciding what 'sections' i want on the website and that is a whole other can of worms. but also you can't start without starting so i should probably just try to build a really simple layout and go from there (after all, if it sucks, it's not like i can't just create a new stylesheet, or do the css for each page independently until i hit a groove that's actually worth moving to the stylesheet). but also first i have to finish this goddamn homepage. which means i gotta find a header image that doesn't look ugly as shit

Kamila Valieva failed her drug test at Russian Nationals on December 25th 2021. If she gets a two year retroactive ban, the ban will expire on December 25th 2023. It's entirely possible she will medal at nationals tomorrow on December 23rd 2023.

I decided to give a go to @niennanir’s lovely print-your-own-fic recipe on my Inside and Out as a test run and I’m quite pleased with the results as a first pass :D
I wish I’d taken a few more process pictures but there was a slight lull as I had to go shopping for 12x12 cardstock lol, but! I do have a couple closeups/extras that I added for funsies :D
I went with freehanding the title and I think in the future I would opt to not do that lol, at least not without a printed template. That said, both LibreOffice and SAI refuse to recognize my SCII fonts >:0 If you notice on the first page, I used the Ace Attorney font in italic haha, it’s an okay alternative even if it’s not what I actually want |0 I am happy with the gold detailing tho :3c
I did have an unconscionable amount of fun freehanding the ship caption tho ahh <3 <3 Immediate happy stims upon completion, their names together look so pretty ♥ Credit to Zarla’s original minicomic on that one :3
I also managed to get the last sentence of the fic isolated on the last page thanks to the formatting haha ♪
I was also able to add a bookmark! Ma happened to have a couple very thin ribbons to choose from and red ended up complementing the green very prettily!
It reminds me of VUX tongues hehehehe ❤️💕💖💞
