I generally don't get involved in warriors disk horse because I'm here for a good time and have other things to do than fight about cat books, but I've seen a couple takes (not going to hunt down screenshots or anything) recently that I feel like I need to say something about.
Thrushpelt is not a groomer just because he interacts with Bluepaw in a positive manner like one time while he's a warrior and she's not. (I checked Bluestar's Prophecy-- they have three interactions with each other before she becomes a warrior, all while she's an apprentice. The first is that he's impressed about her catching prey her first time out hunting. The second is him saying that she can't challenge the medicine cat. The third is him saying "may StarClan guide your paws" to her and Snowpaw when they go hunting together. They don't interact at all when she's a kit). If you think a mildly positive interaction between a child and an adult is equal to grooming, that's something you should probably do some thinking about.
In a similar vein, it's not "creepy" for Thrushpelt to not correct people when Bluefur lets the Clan think the kits are his because he's "in it to make people think they're mates". It's not some "doing the bare minimum" thing. It's helping out a friend of his for no benefit of his own because he's a nice guy. Again, if you think some guy doing a favor for someone he once had a crush on is somehow creepy and him trying to make a move, that's a reflection on you.
You're allowed to not like characters for "no reason", but you don't have to go out of your way to give yourself "a good reason" that's in no way supported by the narrative.

I don’t really care about the Bi Lesbian discourse but JESUS CHRIST- why the fuck is there a big ass list on Twitter of all the people in the WC fandom who support bi lesbians with all of their socials listed (and that’s including the small accounts)
For fucks sake- a WC artist got their Discord Server raided because of this OVER A FUCKING LABEL
BITCH- there are literal LAWS that are trying to ban the existence of the LGBTQ community and you’re focusing all of your attention on a FUCKING LABEL!?

I feel like people overreact a tad in regards to the age gap sometimes. Yes, when you are young (childhood, teenage and 20's) age gaps are really impactful and should be minded but the older you get, the less it matters? Idk, I feel like most people shouldn't be scandalized at a 8 year age gap if both parties are over 30 or something like that. Even so, in the specific case of RoC, Shrike and Fire don't become close friends until after they both are very much adults so like. I understand the concern but, it sounds a little silly.
No I completely agree, in RoC (and I'm pretty sure in canon too??) Fireheart is around 2 years old and Shriketail is around 2.5 years old when Swift dies. This makes Fire around 24 in human years and Shrike around 26. That is not a big age difference , and this is when they start being friends in RoC.
I do understand however that a lot of ppl find this kind of ship uncomfortable bec these cats will be around and live with eachother when one is a child/baby and the other is an adult. I personally have the rule that these kind of relationships are fine as long as the characters interact very little before they are both adults. Which is why I'm chill with LongFire, tho ig it is pushing it since Long does bully Fire as a child (and literally fights him).
Buuuuut, the age gap is one of the reasons I like younger Shrike, but it isn't the only one. I like Shrike being younger bec we can get to know him a lot more since he would interact with Fire more! I also feel like the younger age fits his asshole teen character lol.

so i get the whole "snowkit is an ableist representation because just because you're deaf doesn't mean you won't notice that everyone else is running for cover, or like the shadow of the bird of prey descending on you" discourse
but the worst part is that wild cats literally don't communicate by sounds - at least by sounds the human ear can get. It's something like 80% non verbal and 20% sounds the human ear can't hear or something like that.

The urge to go on a whole rant about how shitty warriors (the feral cat series) is and it desperately needs to rest but it’s only alive because of the big team of editors/writers and the fans

warrior cats fans calculating the age difference in months and consulting the giant family tree to check for vaguely distant relations before saying any two cats would be cute as a couple:

I love Cinderpelt as much as the next person (she’s been a favorite since day one and I love her) and I think she could have been a warrior AND that the Erins have a trend of relegating the disabled cats to the medicine cat den (which is very much not okay), but I think a thing that we often forget is that unlike other characters, she was not forced to be a medicine cat.
If you look through Forest of Secrets, she’s shown enjoy learning the herbs and medicine cat trainings from Yellowfang:
We can chew up ragwort leaves and mix them with crushed juniper berries,” rasped Yellowfang. “It makes a good poultice for aching joints. Do you want to try doing it?” “Okay!” Cinderpaw mewed enthusiastically. She sprang up and sniffed the heap of herbs Yellowfang had laid on the ground. “Does it taste bad?
(There are plenty of other examples; I just found this one easily findable.)
“Be quiet, I haven’t finished. I’m getting old now, and it’s time I started to think about finding an apprentice. Cinderpaw, how would you feel about becoming ThunderClan’s next medicine cat?” Cinderpaw leaped to her paws. Her eyes were sparkling and she quivered with excitement. “Do you really mean it?” she whispered. “Of course I mean it,” Yellowfang growled. “I don’t talk for the pleasure of hearing my own voice, unlike some cats.” “In that case, yes,” Cinderpaw murmured, lifting her head with dignity. “I’d like that better than anything in the whole world!” Fireheart felt his heart begin to beat faster with happiness. He had worried so much for Cinderpaw, at first when he thought she might die, then when it became clear that her injured leg would stop her from becoming a warrior. He remembered how she had wondered desperately what she could make of her life. And now it looked as if Yellowfang had found the perfect solution. Seeing the young she-cat so happy and excited about the future was more than Fireheart had ever hoped for.
Do the Erins have a tendency to force disabled cats into retirement or into the medicine cat den? Absolutely. Could Cinderpaw have gone onto be a warrior? Probably. Was she reluctant to take up the mantle of medicine cat? Absolutely not. She loved it. It might not have been the life she initially imagined, but she found purpose and a passion for it.
(Personally, the way I handle the Cinderpaw situation in (unreleased) AUs is that she initially goes back to apprentice duties before realizing she misses Yellowfang/medicine cat duties, OR she finds her passion there and so just transitions over to being a medicine cat when she feels like it. I feel like it fixes the issues there.)

No bc it’s the way Hollyleaf’s arc was so watered down by the series’s reluctance to challenge the status quo in any meaningful way… like they set her up so well in Power of Three as this character who is genuinely trying to do the right thing and loves her home and her family fiercely but is so deeply afraid of doing the wrong thing and failing her community that she relies on the archaic and dangerously uncompromising laws of her society to determine her every course of action instead of trusting her own instincts. So when she learns her values don’t align with her very existence she is left flailing in the dark and ends up losing everything she loves anyways by way of her own narrow mindedness not leaving any room for her flawed loved ones- not leaving any room for the love that motivated her in the first place. She is lost in religious ideology so puritanical it leaves no room for grace or mercy or kindness or love! This is A Lot she is a fluffy little kitty cat but like wow what a profound and horribly realistic phenomena for Warrior Cats to tackle! But THEN because because the authors are so fucking married to the status quo and are too scared to acknowledge how flawed and culty this society is we can’t have Hollyleaf then come to the realization that it was her militant rule-following that led her to hurt the community she had meant to protect and that only way to preserve said community would be to have it be a little more flexible and a little less Spartan because then we would have a character actively challenging the mindset they were brought up with and maybe advocating for change and we can’t have that for some reason!! Like!! What do you mean she never owned up to killing Ashfur!! What do you mean she never apologized to her mothers!! What do you mean she barely interacted with her two obvious character foils Dovewing and Ivypool y’all don’t know what you’re doing give her to me!!

age gap discourse in the warriors fandom is so funny to me bc you’ll see someone go like “mudstick is a GROOMER because he likes sprinkletoes who is much younger than him!!” and then its like a one year old cat and a three year old cat

Ok the discourse about Billystorm taking his kits away has to stop! We already reached critical mass! I saw someone argue it was like taking native kids away from their families to give them to "good" families to raise while someone else said that was their only chance to escape a hell of a "murder incest game" or whatever they called it and a third compared it to child soldiers being abducted to get a normal life instead of dying.
OK. We get it.
Can we get back to peaceful discourse? Can we discuss why it is bad or good to do it in-universe while not going to weirdly inaccurate lengths?

The fact that the Warrior Cats fandom has a puritanism problem is so ironic considering how much do its fans criticize Starclan. There's a thin line between what Starclan does to its medicine cats and what entitled antis from the fandom believe everyone should do.
Adult warriors content? Can't show that in a christian manga, I guess.

Erin hunter is not a real person . Look I’ve never ever read warrior cats but I do not think the cat equivalent of different christian churches made entirely for fictional drama is on nearly the same level as JKR using her giant media empire to try to eradicate trans people
