Love this little guy! My starter the first time I ever played Champions when it first came out. Drawing this guy has pretty much convinced me to play it again, as I just recently finished replaying the original and have been thinking about Champions ever since. I've replayed it a bunch, but can't remember the minutia of the story. (Like I remember the overall main events and it's so great but if you were to be like "tell me the entire plot of fossil fighters champions" idk if i could do it). So I think it's time.

Woah been a bit huh? Would've probably shown up sooner if it werent for my laptop breaking down during July. I have basically lost all data on the background templates I created and such. This sadly means I am not going to make a regular return for awhile yet.

However to tide things over I am going to start posting some concept doodles every now and then for future redesigns and give ya the basic rundown on the idea behind it. Think of it as a sneak peak before the eventual final illustration and refinement of the designs.

Lets start with the first concept of Zino!

Zino would now be classified as a herbivore.

It still is a Pyro element that uses its thick layers of fluff and feathers to build up high ammounts of heat which it can use to breath flames and deliver burning hot slashes.

While by default Zino is a glass cannon type, by using Burning Sythes it not only deals a large chunk of damage to the opponent it changes to its Ash Reaper stance. This lowers its accuracy by 75% and its defenses by 25% in turn though its attack is boosted by 50% and all of its hits are guarenteed critical. With the proper supports Zino would be a force to be reckoned with!

So what do ya think?

This concept is not final and could change so feel free to put input. I hope to show more of these wip concepts in the future!

the hard part of drawing a lot of theropods is that since we don't have a lot of their fossils we kinda base their look on other dinosaurs so they all kinda look alike so you have to get creative while also being realistic

Next in my favorite creature catcher critters, we have Fossil Fighters. It’s a super under rated game that would have been higher on the list if Coromon wasn’t objectively better. That doesn’t necessarily mean the ones after this aren’t also objectively better haha. It isn’t super high quality, but I love it nonetheless.

B-Onyx

Can't get enough of doodling fanmade boneysaurs lmao

This guy's designed to be a 'signature' Boneysaur (Like B-Ptera, Plesio, Tricera, and Jara) hence the unique coloration. Since the base lot's colour palettes were based on RGBW, I figured I'd go for CYMK for a secondary set. As for the Lightning motif, hey, if B-Ptera can be the moon then B-Onyx can be the storm that is approaching.

I'm not the best at designing or drawing human characters but I made this guy with eventually gaining a human partner in mind... I imagine whoever's using this guy as their ace would probably be way more energetic than any of the BBB characters we currently know. You'd need someone with super-high energy to keep up with this lightning-paced fishmonger.

Crack Crossover: Pokemon X Fossil Fighters

Pokemon: has fossils that are then revived into now living Pokemon (creatures that do battle)

Fossil Fighters: has fossils that are dug up and then revived into now living Vivosaurs (creatures that can do battle)

What if:

Someone from the Pokemon World wound up in Fossil Fighters

Someone from the Fossil Fighters World wound up in Pokemon

1:

If someone got to the Fossil Fighter world from Pokemon they'd be real confused. Like, where are all the Pokemon, or what kind of Pokemon are these? *points to regular animal*.

Like maybe they still have their Pokemon with them and the people of that world would be like, "wow I've never seen a Vivosaur like that. They're so small." And the Pokemon person would be like "the f*ck is a Vivosaur?"

The Pokemon person would realize that this is some alternate world where Pokemon don't exist, at least not their idea of Pokemon. Rather, people there entirely fight with Fossil Pokemon (sort of).

Pokemon person decides to become a Fossil Fighter since they have no other direction of what to do with themself. They get gear, they dig, they attempt to clean but they struggle with it. They try fighting but the battle system is really different from what they're used too, and this world only has 5 types, so weird.

Given the choice, I'm sure they'd choose their home world. But they might have to jump through a bunch of hoops to do so. Might even have to git gud at fossil battling.

When they get home they bring their Vivosaur team with them. People are interested in their weird fossil Pokemon.

2:

They still have their digging equipment. The equipment works just the same way it does in their original universe. They dig up a bunch of Pokemon fossils then ask someone where they can restore the fossils. They are surprised that there's only, like, one place to restore fossils.

They are more surprised that when they get there the fossils are taken away. That they aren't getting to clean the fossil themself. They are given back fossil Pokemons. By now they have already realized that all the animals are weird and realize that they aren't in their original world anymore.

All the same they keep trying to call their fossil Pokemon vivosaurs. And they keep trying to do Pokemon battles with Fossil Fighters mechanics. People are confused about this trainer doing some kind of weird combination between triple battles and rotation battles. Fossil Fighters person is confused about the lack of fossils in battle. Like, how are they fighting with modern animals??

Maybe they learn later about Pokeballs and they go and catch some rock types. They are a mono rock type trainer.

They could potentially be trying to get back home or they might decide to stay in Pokemon. If they stay they probably become a Pokemon paleontologist, helping to find new fossil Pokemon. They could also become a gym leader who has a gimmick of only using fossil Pokemon. They becomes friends with Steven of course.

If they get back home, they'll get back with their fossil Pokemon. And other people will be like, "yo, what Vivosaur is that?". And they'll say that it's a Vivosaur from another dimension. They'll probably be really good at battles because nobody can figure out what their "vivosaurs" are good at/weak too.

Estemmo has black cloud patterns covering its body. This is broken up by some lighter clouds and yellow lightning. Its legs and tail in particular are wreathed in lightning, and its horns are gold.

Estemmo is found in giant fossil rocks. It has no super evolver.
