Hero stares down at the paper in front of them with mounting dread. Their stomach is all tied in knots, and they feel a cold sweat at the back of their neck.
"You know, you don't have to do this if you truly don't want, I'm not forcing you." Villain purrs behind Hero, voice against their ear. The threat is unspoken. If Hero doesn't sign, they'll continue with their rampage. Continue killing, destroying, maiming.
The pen shakes in Hero's hand as they continue staring down at the paper. It's just a piece of paper, made of thick cardstock, cream white. Yet Hero has been staring at it for fifteen minutes, as if it'll bite them.
Certificate of Marriage
The font is too pretty, all stately and official looking. Hero feels as if they may throw up any minute.
"I don't understand why.." Hero finally finds their voice, asking the question that's been bouncing around in their mind since Villain first pulled the paper out as they suggested a truce.
"You already know my terms. In exchange for leaving your hero friends unharmed, for leaving the civilians of the city unharmed, I want you." Villain's voice is something possessive, filled with fire and heat. "This just makes it more official. More binding."
Hero shudders, and they feel as Villain steps closer behind them, a dark shadow looming over them. They know this goes beyond simply wanting to make their agreement more binding and they both know it.
"You know it's not legitimate- it's not legally binding without an officator." Hero stumbles over their words, not even sure if that's true.
Villain snorts, not usually one to be worried about legality of course. They put a hand to Hero's shoulder, warm and rough.
"I can find a priest to threaten. No one needs to know how and when we signed. Unless you'd rather make a big ceremony of this." Villain's tone is now teasing, amused by the idea of a wedding. "That could certainly be done if you prefer."
Flushing hot, Hero shakes their head quickly. No, they would not prefer that. This is already nerve-wracking and humiliating as is. A part of them wants to outright refuse, to tear the paper the shreds, and throw it in their face, but Hero knows this is the chance to get Villain to back down.
"I wouldn't be unkind to you." Villain says, voice suddenly softer and more serious. They lean forward, face resting against Hero's neck. The most terrible part is that Hero knows they mean it. They wouldn't be unkind or cruel, and that makes this all the more difficult. "You'd belong to me, but I'd take care of you."
Hero already knows there's no choice. They knew from the beginning that there was no other option. They have to do what is best for everyone else. Shakily, they finally nod.
"So selfless, so sacrificial to others." Villain says as they place a feather light kiss against the shell of their ear. "We'll have to work on that once you're with me."
They take Hero's hand currently holding the pen in their own, their grasp strong, as they lift it to the paper.

Good god (tw: some light undertone themes of suicidal thoughts and self destruction/harm) but with lots of comfort to come so dont worryyyy
Tumblr media
The rain poured down the hero’s face, they had their chin tilted up high towards the light grey clouds as if the mist surrounding them was suffocating. Their eyes were closed, but that didn’t stop the pelting droplets from finding their way under the hero’s eyelids.
It felt somewhat like relief, the cool water soaking through every single layer of their clothes. It eased their mind and their wounds, washed the blood from their chin and nose.
It stilled such a busy world.
On the other hand, the hero was freezing. It must’ve been at least six hours since they had had their arms wrenched behind their back and duck taped together to keep them bound to a school yard post. A singular piece covering their lips to keep them from shouting for help.
It was so simple compared to the intricate traps they had been stuck within before. Nonetheless, for some reason it was also the hardest to escape.
Partially, Hero knew it was because they had no will to. They had gone through the darkened alley behind the school knowing they were going to get jumped. They had let themselves be beaten and hogtied, they had accepted a concussion and a busted nose.
Hero knew if they were ever to talk this out with the Agency’s therapist there would be words strung out around the concept of ‘goodness’ and ‘greatness’.
Hero didn’t feel all that good—let alone great.
Hero didn’t feel anything except exhausted. So they had slumped back against the post, legs sprawled out against the asphalt, haphazardly painted with basketball gym lines.
Their arms were burning from the awkward position and consistent strain and the hero ignored it all the same. It was the weekend, so there would be no concerned teachers to save them and definitely no kids out to play in this weather. And sure, if they wanted, they could break free—they were a hero after all—but for now they just sat.
Unwilling and unwanting of any form of further freedom as the hypothermic chill coating their skin slowly reached into their bones.
“To freeze or not to freeze…” Hero’s eyes snapped open at the sudden familiar voice coming from behind them. “That is the question~” Villain’s head poked out from around the post where the hero lay still bound.
They stepped around to face the hero straight on, crouching down to meet at their level. “Sucker for punishment? Or are you just really too weak to get yourself out of some lousy tape?”
The villain grinned, even through the heavy rain the hero could practically feel the other’s heat and see their sultry eyes. They squirmed, suddenly all too uncomfortable in their position as they tried to push themselves up into a standing position.
“What? Cat got your tongue?” The criminal laughed, watching their nemesis wriggle helplessly and increasingly more desperately against their bonds. They reached up, one hand delicately cupping the hero’s face as the other ripped the duct tape off their lips in one swift movement.
Hero gasped mostly in pain, slightly due to their racing heartbeat. “Fuck— Villain—”
Gently the villain’s thumb brushed over the hero’s bottom lip, wiping the blood away with the rain water that tainted everything it could touch. Hero took in another deep breath, collecting themselves from a moment ago before looking into the villain’s eyes again.
“Need some help?”
The crime-stopper wanted to shake their head no, they wanted to spit at the villain and break free on their own, instead they mumbled an incoherent form of yes and let themselves be brought to their feet in a single pull. The villain’s hands did not leave the hero’s sides even after they were steady on their feet and Hero couldn’t help but notice just how cold they truly were without the villain’s warmth.
The villain didn’t question them a second time, once they were sure the hero could stand on their own they reached one hand into their pocket for their smaller knife. Flipping it open while their other hand still rested against the hero’s hip, wrapping their armed hand around the hero’s body to cut away the remaining tape from their arms.
And for the few seconds their bodies stayed pressed together, Hero wondered if this was close enough to be considered a hug. Then, in a sickening moment where all of the blood rushed from the hero’s head to their now free arms, they swayed and collapsed against the villain.
The criminal had barely enough time to catch them before the hero relaxed their weight completely into Villain’s chest. Head pressed into the crook or the villain’s neck, Hero’s icy fingers clawed at the fabric of their nemesis’ suit with what little energy they had left.
Hero was searching for heat, they had forgotten just exactly how badly their body craved it when they had let themselves rot against the post. Now that the villain was here though, they needed to warm up and they only wanted to while trapped in the villain’s embrace.
“Hey, hey, hey, it’s okay, Hero. I’ve got you, you’re safe.” Villain reassured them, voice soft and inviting as they shifted their arms around to help walk their nemesis back to their car. “Do you know how long you’ve been out here?”
Hero took their first few shuffling steps with the villain’s support, making up for a lot of their weight. Their eyes flicked to the villain’s worried expression, “A few hours.” But they couldn’t hold their gaze.
They were ashamed now. They had been caught in their own self-destruction and saved by their mortal enemy. The person they fought tooth and nail almost every single day for the past two years.
Now that person was helping them into their car and out of the rain, where initially the hero had hoped to stay forever. How embarrassing.
The villain didn’t say much else, only answering with a curt nod before returning their focus to bearing the hero’s weight in their steps. It was safe to say the hero hadn’t expected to be as weak as they truly were and that maybe if the villain had never shown up, they wouldn’t have been able to get away.
That was worrisome. Worrisome enough to dry the hero’s mouth up in a second and send shivers down their spine.
Villain reached out, hand grabbing onto the passenger side door handle and they slowly opened it to reveal the inside of their beloved car Hero had heard about so many times in battle. Yet, they had barely even registered the walk from the school yard to the parking lot, let alone the fact that their enemy was actually helping them.
Hero looked to Villain, who gave them an assuring smile. “I’ll take care of you, or bring you straight home—no questions asked. Just don’t make me leave you out here any longer.”
That earned them a small smile.

ok hear me out,,,,,,, the hero is on a mission but they dont find the villain anywhere UNTIL they find them half-asleep with fever but their still willing to fight but heros like NU UH so they just care for them-
“The walls have ears,” the hero said. They dragged out the words, trying their best to gain the villain’s attention. However, the villain only let out a noise close to a whimper. “You have to be more careful around people who might not be your friends.”
“You’re so charming,” the villain croaked. They pushed themselves up but the hero was quicker.
“I know.” With their flat hand on the villain’s chest, they pressed them back down into the mattress while simultaneously sitting down.
The hero felt the villain’s bare chest glowing under their touch, hot and sweaty. Definitely a fever. In all of this, the hardest part had been getting into the hotel room.
After the hero had tried to get into the villain’s room countless of times, the villain had let them in, completely unaware of who the hero was.
Apparently, they had woken up from a nap. Groggy and confused, they had stared at the hero and only recognised them later.
Which was bad, really bad. The villain was able to identify them no matter how creative the hero’s disguises were.
The hero hadn’t planned on playing nurse for their nemesis this weekend and they weren’t in the mood to neglect their duties. But it was the villain.
“Quite a lot of people want you dead. Did you really think it was smart to plan an assassination with other villains? And you planned on murdering another villain with them?”
“Eh.” The villain turned around in bed, pulling the blanket up to their nose.
“You’re aware how messy these villain relationships are, aren’t you? Each of them can betray you at any given moment, each of them would give out your information for five bucks, did you really—”
“Okay, fine. Let’s just fight,” the villain sighed. They shuffled.
“I’m not done.” The hero pushed the villain into the bed again, clearly frustrated. “Now you’re sick, hiding in a hotel room instead of home. You’re weak and an easy target. What were you thinking? Starting a war with no one in your corner?”
“You’ve come to lecture me, is that it?” the villain asked. Their face was red, their body heating up. “Because I really don’t have the energy right now.”
“I was supposed to clear out one of those nasty hideouts. I found a bunch of messages and posts on a strange server mentioning you. About you getting beaten up and hunted. I went out to find you immediately,” the hero admitted. They scratched their neck. “Found you with some detective work and the tracker that I put on you a while ago.”
“You’re tracking me?” the villain asked. They didn’t seem surprised.
“You’re tracking me too,” the hero reminded them.
“Aww. You found it and didn’t remove it?”
“Neither did you.”
“Softie,” the villain whispered. Their smile, although sleepy, seemed to be of genuine nature. “Always a softie around me.”
“Keep those little fantasies to yourself, will you?” the hero asked. They liked not to think of this aspect of their relationship. It was distracting.
“Hm.” The villain closed their eyes again. “You went through all of this trouble to make sure I’m alright?”
“I…hey, I am warning you, alright? You have to be more careful with information and the people you share it with.” The hero pushed up the blanket even further. “Do you have any medication?”
“It doesn’t matter, I’m dying.”
“My god, you have a cold.” The hero stood up and went into the bathroom. Once they had found a towel, they let it soak in cold water and returned to the “dying” villain. “You’re so dramatic.”
They put the towel on the villain’s forehead. The villain winced, sensitive to the cold touch.
“But they didn’t find you yet, did they?” the hero asked, softer this time. They didn’t know why but they didn’t feel as anxious as before. The villain shook their head
“I really messed up, didn’t I?” they asked eventually.
“You haven’t made the smartest decision.”
“Fuck, I’m so stupid,” they mumbled. “I really thought I could help you a little.”
“I don’t need help,” the hero answered. Although, they were quite surprised this was about them.
“You’re working yourself to death.”
“Not your problem,” the hero said. They shifted the towel a little. “Don’t do anything like this again, got it?”
“No promises.”
The hero didn’t know if they were worried or flattered.

Queen Azshara
Glorious 💠 Foretold version
Azshara had a palace fortune teller because she liked hearing the colorful stories they came up with - sometimes life in the palace can be quite dull.
One night when Azshara had troubling dreams about green fires on the sky, she decided to take a stroll around to calm her mind. The fortune teller crossed paths with her in the corridors where she felt a light breeze stroking her ears. Then a sharp vision invaded her mind like nothing before.
Choking, immense suffering, loud drums attacking her ear, making her magic flow through her veins and radiate through her entire skin. Silent screams embracing her beautiful figure, making the exceptional jewels feel like shackles...
Then it was over. The fortune teller slowed her footsteps while Azshara was still stunned from the visions. "Now you know how it ends, so you can be the real Queen"

Acts of Kindness
Warnings: emotional distress, vulnerability
The hero stood nervously in the Villain's apartment, holding a steaming plate of the villain's favorite meal. They had spent hours tidying up the space, washing dishes, hiding tiny notes and presents, and even taking care of the villain's cat, all to bring some comfort to their nemesis who had been having a rough day.
As the door creaked open, the hero's heart skipped a beat. The villain stepped inside, their expression a mix of surprise and confusion. They froze in the doorway, taking in the sight before them.
The once chaotic and messy apartment was now clean and organized, warm light from candles filling the room. The smell of their favorite meal filled the air, and they spotted a few small boxes hidden behind their sofa.
The villain's eyes welled up with unexpected tears as they took in the scene. They looked at the hero, who stood there flustered, holding the plate of food.
"What... what is all this for?" the villain finally managed to speak, their voice barely above a whisper.
The hero shuffled their feet, suddenly feeling self-conscious. "I heard you were having a rough day," they replied softly. "I just wanted to... cheer you up."
Before they knew it, tears were streaming down Villain's face, and without hesitation, they crossed the room and enveloped the hero in a tight embrace.
"I... I don't know how to thank you." Villain choked out.
The hero hugged them back, feeling their heart swell in happiness. "You don't need to," they murmured. "You are more than enough for me. I love you, Villain. "
After a moment, Villain pulled back slightly, their heart skipping a beat, and their eyes searching Hero's face for any joke, but all there was was sincerity. "I love you too, Hero. Thank you so much," they whispered.
The hero's heart skipped a beat, and a warmth spread through their chest. A small smile formed on their face, knowing that this could be possibly the best thing to happen to them.
"The greatest gift one can give is unexpected kindness."

He was so fragile at the end of the day, like any human, but you won’t get that impression when you first meet him; he will do anything in his power to fool you and paint you a world where only he can be king.

“Heroes are stupid.”
“How come?”
“They see a gray situation and look to name it black and white. If they had to pick whether to save one person or the world, they’d try to save both. And then they’d end everything. They’re more dangerous than villains in that way.”
