Stardust (Novel) by Neil Gaiman, review
Tumblr media
Poster credit: https://images.app.goo.gl/rPV9NYqKfz8ZS6eq5
Recommended for: DREAMERS
Somewhere I read that reading stories before going to bed at night is always a good habit, maybe for nice sleep or to have a good dream. And here fantasy genre fits perfectly at sleepy time.
Somebody said that Fantasy and Adventure genes are match made in heaven, and here Neil Gaiman's Stardust comes true[[MORE]] when Tristran crosses wall for promise he made to Victoria. World-building, character arc and morals everything amazing.
[SPOILER ALERT]
The feeling of the climax was most important, actually I forgot that Dunstan had a lovely night with cat-like ear women and her conditions when she will be freed from that silver chain and why Daisy was watching little differently when Tristran decided to go beyond the wall. I thought that this story too is getting boring as reaching towards the end but when read the climax it was like seriously something terrible had happened here or I was reading in sleepy-mode. I was when that cat-eared faerie woman introduces herself to the evil witch that she is the only daughter of the lord of Stormland and as the only conditions which will free her from evil witch were about to happen, it was like that evil witch had doomed herself by kidnapping the unknown child of Lord a long years back. It was awesome.
Overall fairy story is about love. It shows that nothing is more important than love of forgiveness, as when Tristran tell Victoria to marry Robert as they both love each other and also when Lady Una says Tristan to take the throne of Stormland.
Finally, I had read a beautiful ending of fantasy before I went to my terrible dreams.

“And if you don’t have a gift and you live in Xanthia, do you know what that means?” Bits of spittle escaped Piper’s mouth as she spoke. “It means that they kick you out. The elders, everyone, is going to force AnnA to leave. And not only that, but they’ll erase her memory and dump her in the outside world like a piece of trash....She told me that she is the only kid on the mountain who doesn’t have a father, and she’s too afraid to ask her mother about it. They treat her like an outcast.” (Piper about AnnA, The Boy Who Knew Everything, 308-309)
okay
I’m not saying that AnnA is one of Max’s kids
but i’m not not saying it either
in this essay i will- 👀

Day 9 of posting The Girl Who Could Fly art despite my lack of talent
Tumblr media
I’m going to take a break before moving on to book 2. At this rate, I’ll probably be making even sh*ttier art as time goes on.

Me reading "the girl who could fly" at 10: wow cool she can fly
Me now, reading about a girl who has powers and her parents discover it and her mom calls them "unnatural" and says that god doesn't want people to fly and ends up sending the kid away to an institution full of other kids like her that are all there because their parents want to get rid of their powers and make them become normal humans and the people there try to torture the powers out of them: ......oh my god

Three cloudy covers! The outside two are both books from my childhood that I remember really loving and also being unsettled by, and the middle is one I just read last year and loved.

A Conspiracy of Kings by MWT and The Girl Who Could Fly by Victoria Forester
Yoooooooo!
Okay, CoK is a late summer/early fall book. Back to school, if you will. Good for reading instead of going to gym class. If not in school, it’s great for enjoying in pajamas while eating cereal and being glad you’re no longer in school. Drink your milk and grow up to be a strong murder bunny! (Lol jk i hate milk)
I have not read The Girl Who Could Fly, so that’s one for the TBR list!!!
Thanks for the rec, @mad-as-a-box-of-bats!
Send me book titles and I’ll write you a recommendation

Ain’t nothing in this life comes easy to any of us, child. Every road you walk down’s got a price. Sooner you learn that the better. Don’t matter the direction you go, there’ll be be some bad mixed in with the good and you just gotta learn to take the one with the other.

“It’s not possible. Flying is wrong. Abnormal. Humans can’t fly.” Letitia tried to pry Piper’s arms away, fighting her. They descended rapidly.

Piper hadn't realized that she'd stopped breathing somewhere in the middle of Conrad's speech, and suddenly she gasped like a fish pulled out of water.  "No." She shook her head. "No."

Once in the air, Piper decided to keep it simple. Turning a few spins, she followed them with a quick loop-the-loop and finished with a pirouette.  Dr. Hellion's breath fell away. "Dear God, she really can fly."

I just bought Victoria Forester’s two novels and I can’t believe I read through The Girl Who Could Fly in a day. I’ve never read a book that thick so fast in my entire life. But hey, I liked it a lot and it almost felt like it was written for me.
This was published back in 2008 and the sequel just got released last year, how have I only seen this now?

But in all honestly, go read The Girl Who Could Fly and then The Boy Who Knew Everything.
God fucking damn this is fucking me up so badly.

(from Amazon) “There is a prophecy.
It speaks of a girl who can fly and a boy who knows everything. The prophecy says that they have the power to bring about great change . . . .
The boy is Conrad Harrington III. The girl is Piper McCloud. They need their talents now, more than ever, if they are to save the world-and themselves.”
You have no idea how happy this news makes be. I’ve been waiting forever for a sequel and was starting to think Victoria Forester was never going to make one. The Girl Who Could Fly is by no means the greatest book in the world, but it is one of my personal favorites. The story is basically (and I’m quoting another reviewer here) Little House on the Prairie meets X-Men, with a good array of characters, a complex antagonist, and a strong, young, free-spritied heroine whom I relate to so much. And now I’ll get to have another adventure with her come October!
