There's certainly an experience that comes from watching Nerdy Prudes Must Die first and then going back to watch The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals. Specifically when Bill laments that he'd prefer is daughter dating "someone like Grace Chastity" over her current gf.

Rereading Ancillary Sword and "Fleet Captain Breq begs Fleet Captain Uemi's very generous indulgence and would like to know if Fleet Captain Uemi is feeling quite entirely herself today" is such a line. The amount of implied horror buried in that statement.

Ty for answering my q! (Am the guy who asked about lgbt being common in ancient china etc) since lgbt is more of a western concept what would be a chinese equivalent for it? Like how is the chinese homosexuality different from the west? (Sorry if my wording is off im not exactly sure how else to phrase it 😭😭)
I'm just talking about the cultural differences that shape what it means to be queer across the globe. Modern LGBT+ discourse was led and shaped by western academics so theories of gender and sexuality are based largely on the that of white thinkers. Although it's true that English LGBT terminology and the relevant standardised definitions have spread and been translated globally, and that Western ideals of masculinity and femininity remain dominant overall, similar concepts can't be understood 1:1 across all cultures. And there certainly existed something else before Western influence.
Also, picture this: you are watching a TV show from the Song Dynasty. You notice some of the male characters are always wearing flowers on their head/in their headwear 👀. You, proficient in imagery and symbolism, think to yourself, "💅🏼?"
But little did you know that this was a men's fashion trend at the time, practiced by young and old, rich and poor, hardly the indicator of queerness!
What I mean is, when it comes to looking at history, especially history of different cultures, basically you have to remember that there is a different context/historical framework to what is queer, what is gendered masculine and feminine, what is homoerotic/sapphic (and "queerplatonic" as we'd understand some of these instances and relationships), what is sexual, etc. So going back to my comment in the previous ask, based on all this, I personally feel that bringing terms like LGBT to such conversations is not appropriate because it also brings with it a modern framework which is not productive to understanding history as having its own frame of references.
If that makes any goddamn sense lmao.

The Sol Dimension can't save you from scam calls.
A little celebrity endorsement(?) from Quake the Elephant (my OC from the 1st @/sonic-oc-showdown) who definitely thinks Thistle's the worst person she's ever talked to.

Kryptonite is crystalized ectoplasm. (had the thought and it hasn't left me alone for two hours but i don't know nearly enough about DP to write anything out sooo)
Homie I feel you. Honestly almost like a solid 85% of the workings of ectoplasm is fan made so honestly you can be as handwavey as you want about the workings of the stuff. This is mostly me just rambling so the topic may ping pong around a tad. This idea is fuckin incredible homie.
I’d say since Kryptonite is radioactive pieces of rock from the exploded planet Krypton that it would be neat to say that Krypton was somehow a planet from the Ghost Zone that escaped via a massive ghost portal and when it exploded it basically became funky radioactive ghost rock. Unsure if Danny would react the same around Kryptonite if that was the case but if Superman found his way into the ghost zone he would get hit by a massive sense of home.
You can also flip it around and say that crystallized ectoplasm simply works the exact same as Kryptonite. It’s basically a renewable resource of Kryptonite and that positively terrifies Superman and DELIGHTS Lex Luthor.
Ectoplasm absolutely can crystallize I’d say. Maybe it simply gets crystallized similar to how we dry out saltwater in a the sun and collect the salt crystal it leaves behind. Instead of the hot sun in this case it’s something else like being outside of the ghost zone. It dries up in an area with a lack of recent deaths.
Would it work with the same intensity as Kryptonite though? Like would it be like something to not make Kryptonians I’ll but it instead removes just their powers. (like a kinder version of gold Kryptonite.) Imagine Superman/Superboy being able to hug their friends without having to worry about hugging too tight and killing them or to get Superboy drunk. Things of the sort. Would it even work like the types of Kryptonite we already know? Would it be like red Kryptonite or maybe even white Kryptonite that kills everything in the area?
On another note to ponder on:
Technically wouldn’t Danny’s ice powers technically create crystallized ectoplasm? Danny simply shots an ice blast at a foe and Superman suddenly feels his powers draining away and getting incredibly weak.

gonna make an extremely self-indulgent worldbuilding change to WALL which is that gendered pronouns just kinda fell out of use some time in the last couple hundred years and now there's just one universal third person pronoun and if someone want a pronoun with a distinct Implied Gender they have to ask for it

i think it’s funny for taylor to see us have our breakdown over the podcast because it’s not like travis reveals some great details, he just 1) gets teased and 2) clears the air, but we all still lose it anyway hahah
