I get so unreasonably content/warm-hearted whenever a bat passes in front of my window. Like, they're the littlest guys, just minding their business, good for them!

What people think being a vampire is like: suave and sexy, stalking in the night dramatically, luring victims to my castle
What being a vampire is actually like: My other vampyric friends and I have been running a Dungeons and Dragons campaign since literally before the game was published. No one has ever played a vampire because the lore is inaccurate. We had already been playing a table top story game for about 70 years prior.

i wish i could explain how vampirism is Everything to me, including my gender, to people without sounding insane. like. you know the myth about how some people are just born destined to become vampires after death? it's like that. the little girl i used to be is dead and buried. i clawed my way out of her grave. i am forever changed. and yet. i was always meant to be this. do not stand at my grave and weep. i am not there. i do not sleep.

I love to go out at night in the summer but in a freakish scary loser way rather than a cool party attendee way.

What do I mean when I say "Disabled Vampire?"
"Disabled Vampire" essentially means "my vampirism and my disabilities are linked." For me, this takes many forms, including:
Allergic reactions and flare-ups triggered by sunlight exposure
Strong cravings for iron and other blood-related nutrients beginning in early childhood
Enhanced hearing and light sensitivity caused by SPD
Biting/teething, as both a stim and relief from wonky facial bone development
These are both symptoms of my disabilities and parts of my identity as a vampire. While very separate aspects of me with lives of their own, they often converge and inform one another. I live a "vampiric" lifestyle and participate in the community both as a response to my disabilities and as an expression of self. Highlighting this relationship helps me feel balanced and complete.
