"they're all such good friends"
twst oc week - day six: farewell or dorm leaders
--
Tumblr media
“It seems we’re all here.”
“Not quite.” Crowley declared; his eyes flickered at two seats at the end of the table. The seating arrangement went like this: to his direct left, was Idia Shroud’s floating tablet, Vil Schoenheit, Leona Kingscholar, the two empty seats, Kalim Al-Asim, Azul Ashengrotto and Riddle Rosehearts.
“Do you mean Malleus? I don’t believe anyone remembered to invite him...” Vil spoke out loud, at which point Leona snickered.
“We don’t need that Lizard anyways.” The lion beastman said, his arms behind his head.
“Guh, he’s just too terrifying to approach, you know?” Idia’s voice trembled from the floating magical tablet. Riddle on the other hand, frowned at the two empty chairs.
“There are two empty chairs.” He stated. “Who is the other one for?” Crowley smiled mysteriously and the six present dorm leaders shot him suspicious looks. Riddle’s question was soon answered by a loud knock on the door.
“Sorry we’re late!”
We?
“Do come in!” Crowley called out in a loud voice and the double doors of the meeting room were pushed open. Raina stepped in first, dressed in a white top with gold and aquamarine designs on the chest and down her arms. The brown skirt was short at the front but long at the back and hemmed with aqua coloured frills. She had a belt with golden chains, and small circular glass like items. In her hair, she wore a clip resembling the belt. She had thigh high stockings and short boots with buttons down the side.
“Sorry we’re late!” The girl said again, sheepish.
“Raina...?” Azul blinked in surprise. “Why are you here—?”
“That’s because she currently counts as a Dorm Leader.” Crowley answered for the girl. Said girl looked over her shoulder, a smile on her face. “And also, because…”
“Come on, Bright Eyes!” She reached for someone past the door and pulled in—
“She seems like a rare person who is unafraid to call the Dorm Leader of Diasomnia.” Crowley chuckled. The girl had one of her hands wrapped around Malleus’s wrist as she pulled him through the doorway. The dragon fae regarded her with a fond expression before his face cooled at the sight of the other dorm leaders. “From now on, I figured that Raina Hua should sit in during meetings as Ramshackle’s Dorm Leader… and because she can go fetch Malleus Draconia.” Crowley nodded at the two as they settled into their seats before he gazed down at his notes.
“Ah!” They all jumped as he yelled, “I seem to have forgotten an important document—do excuse me—!” Before they could get another word in, the Headmaster sprung to his feet and tossed himself out of the window.
“… Ah, I wonder if he’ll be fine.” Ai murmured out loud, as if she actually cared.
“The Headmaster does that a lot so that should be fine.” Riddle assured, with sweat dropping down his forehead. Kalim only laughed in amusement before he leaned forward to engage Raina in a conversation.
“So, you’ve joined us now! That is nice! Hey, we should celebrate at Scarabia for this! A parade of congratulations—!” he said cheerfully.
“Ahahah… Thank you Kalim-senpai (“Just Kalim is fine you know!”) but it’s fine!”
“I have been wondering when you would join us.” Riddle smiled, “I didn’t think you were able to talk to…” his eyes lingered on Malleus “But this is a welcome thing.”
“Actually Raina, if you could talk to Diasomnia, there is a proposal I’d like to ask of you—” Azul began, while Riddle’s brow twitched at his year mate’s talk about money.
“Azul, is this really the time for this—” The two second years began to argue, while Kalim looked on with a brilliant smile. Raina laughed nervously as she turned her gaze to her right to see Malleus was engaged in a ‘conversation’ with Leona.
“So, you finally got invited, huh, Lizard?”
“It would seem so.” Malleus said calmly, “I have heard you were assigned to call me… but that the invitations never arrived. It must’ve been such a difficult job for you, Kingscholar.” The other dorm leaders snickered while Leona looked displeased with his eyes narrowed, ears flat against his head and his tail—bristled.
“Say that again—!” Electricity practically sparked between the Savanaclaw and Diasomnia Dorm Leader whilst on Leona’s other side, Vil rolled his eyes.
“What savages…” He muttered as he peered down on his nails. Idia’s tablet shook in place—and looked ready to leave if an opportunity gave him too. Ai only sweated harder at that before she turned her gaze back to the second years.
“This is fun, isn’t it?” Kalim only smiled jovially.
“Ah… I guess it is!” Ai giggled in response. As the room descended into chaos—“Mhm, they’re all such good friends!”

A waltz for two solo dancers (VilXFeMC)
For TwstOC Week Day 2. Relationships.
There is a lingering tension between Vil and Ann, like a waltz. A waltz for two solo dancers, each gliding at their own tune, so close yet so far. Wanting to get close, but not enough to touch each other. Yearning gazes being the only betrayal of those hidden thoughts.
Thanks to polyphenols@AO3 for beta-reading this!
-
Vil stood in front of Ann, fixing her tie and her hair, unaware or uncaring of the soft smile on her face. Her heart always beat this fast when she was with him, always aware of the way he made her feel.
She loved Vil deeply, ever since that day.
“That’s why I want to give my all to be able to vote for myself proudly.”
Her heart was taken by those words, the deep conviction in his heart.
But she knew things couldn't go the way she wished, because she was a person who did not deserve anything.
It was why she was content with these faint touches, these ephemeral interactions that would go nowhere. At times, it almost felt like Vil was affectionate, an elusive softness that felt like a mirage. But, even if her heart trembled, she pushed her delusions to the back of her mind while simultaneously surrendering herself to the moment until her mind reminded her of her own reality, which marred the moment with a deep shame and grief.
"I cannot enjoy this, no matter how much I desire this. No, it was wishing for anything in the first place that caused me to lose everything."
A risky double thought.
-
"I don’t like the Potato, Rook," Vil said dryly.
The vice leader arched his eyebrows, with a matching knowing, taunting smile.
"Sure you don't, Roi du Poison. That's why you're mesmerized by the trickster."
"How could I be?" Vil scoffed with disdain, glaring at Rook, a sign to wipe that smirk off his face.  "She doesn't know her place and dares to talk back to me. She's untidy, she doesn't take care of her skin, have you seen how she's always yawning in art class?"
Rook nodded to everything he said. "Oui, she is exactly as you say. When you demand her to move, she asks you 'Why?', instead of 'Is this far enough?'. Instead of being mesmerized by your beauty, she waves you hello. You expect her to fear and respect you, admiring you from afar, but she invades your private space to tell you she doesn't like how you treat others. Didn't she tell you, 'I'm on a raid, don't interrupt me or I'll kill you' without batting an eye, when you were filming in the courtyard she was sitting in?"
"You are proving my point, Rook."
"Unyielding against your charms and uncaring at your status as the Queen. To call this a crush would be a mistake. No, your feelings run deeper than this, ahhhh~ the scorching and relentless feeling of love!"
If looks could kill, the hunter would have been buried thirteen times already, for saying something so ridiculous. Vil Schoenheit in love with her, of all people?
"The Trickster also seems interested in you."
The words aimed directly at his heart, why did he choose Rook as vice leader when he was not careful of his place? And why was everyone telling him things he didn't want to admit?
"Of course, isn't that obvious? I am Vil Schoenheit," he uttered, attempting to assert his dominance, to defend his wounded pride.
"You know that's not what I mean."
He turned his eyes away, she had seen through him, the ugliness he wanted to hide. She saw it and yet...
"Stop spouting nonsense, Rook. I'm in a foul mood. I will be in my room."
He entered his room and closed his doors, fist slamming on them. His heart ached, frowning deeply as how easily he could recall her face and her cheeky smile.
And how he desperately wanted her to look at him.
When she was nice to everyone...
How could he tell if she is looking at him...?
He slammed his fist against the door, once more hiding his blushing face on his sleeve, as he was only accompanied by the sound of his racing heart.
-
Her feelings were like an open box, the best way to hide something was to be upfront about everything. It was how she had managed to fool herself. Never had she tried anything to reach him, to try to get him to love her.
It was fine if her love was one-sided, as hurtful as it was.
She was okay with being just his ‘professional headache’, the girl who sometimes got scolded by him, the possible friend that sometimes hangs out with him. She enjoyed their talks, their accidental meetings, their bickering.
As long as that line was never crossed, she was fine.
There was a silly contradiction to that trail of thought. She was fully aware of her love, and always acted on it, whenever she greeted him or talked to him. Her reassurance came from the bottom of her heart. However, she had no intention of it being known, she wouldn’t go and confess to him or anyone. She was no idiot and she knew how to avoid the usual talks of romance and love between her friends. It helped that Ace and Deuce hardly talked about the matter, focusing on the day-to-day happenings, and less on whatever she was feeling.
So long she could see him, from an invisible wall she had erected to protect him, she would be fine with whatever they never were.
-
He was surprised to acknowledge she had similar traits to him, even if they looked like immediate opposites at first glance. She didn’t look much like it, but she favored hard work, that was his first surprise. All of her potato friends had been duped by Azul’s scheme, but she was the one who bailed them out. She had also a hidden passion as well, given her devotion to that game of hers she played, and the art she seemed fond of making. While she was young and inexperienced, given how she often lost track of time, it was precisely this trait that showed her ambition and determination. The fortitude to throw herself into a task she had to accomplish no matter what. It honestly annoyed him, she somehow thought it adequate to go to bed at unholy hours as long as she did what she wanted, her skin care be damned, but it somehow made her shine when he scolded her the next morning.
“Sorry, Vil-senpai, I was at a good part of my game and I couldn’t stop.”
With his cosmetics, he could somehow make up for a tired look on her skin, but at times, it was as if she was glowing instead. He wouldn’t have imagined she had pulled an all-nighter, even if she was supposed to be the potato and him, the beauty expert.
She did possess something he lacked. It was that kindness of hers, one not restricted to her friends. His world didn’t forgive the easily duped, the ones who did something for others, expecting nothing in return. The school they studied at held this principle deep in its roots, where being kind and soft would only leave you as prey to be used. He was far from the likes of Azul and Leona, but he wasn’t the kind to help others for no reason. To give out his secrets for free, it was a way to coddle laziness and neglect. In the industry, it was a sure way to get you killed. But it seemed this concept didn’t apply to her, as her webcomic was a way to help her study (one of the potatoes had come to read it often) and her Magicam was full of advice, the accumulated experience of a high-ranked player in her home world. Everything for free, nothing expected in return.
He himself had been on the receiving end, with her annoying encouragement and unwanted advice. With his own life being saved from overblotting, like she had saved the others. Riddle, Leona, Azul, Jamil. Some of them people who had attacked her or her friends. Yet she still helped them, she helped him, not asking for anything, not even a thank you. They had argued, he had been cold to her, but she still extended her hand to save him.
-
There was something Vil Schoenheit possessed that no one else had, a brilliance that lay deeper than his obvious beauty.
Ann knew he was beautiful, but it was the elegance he carried himself with, the strictness he had for himself and the diligence to reach his goals that made him who he was.
Vil never excused himself, taking responsibility for his faults, like his own admission of his failings for his Overblot and making amends for it. He never asked for help, he worked on his own. She had learned his father was a famous actor, and Vil, while loving him dearly, had never resorted to latching on his father’s fame as an easy way into the business industry.
Instead, he had worked hard, went to auditions and prepared himself. The few times she helped him carry props for his Film Appreciation Club, she had seen the worn out scripts, the hundreds of notes and stickers. He took care of everything with meticulous care, she might have found him rehearsing nonstop even on his busy schedule.
Vil worked out and prided himself on being perfect always, even though he was close to wearing himself thin, and it wasn’t out of simple vanity. He was complex, far from perfect, with his secret failings that didn’t make him less beautiful in her eyes. Someone who wanted to better himself, to reach perfection even if such a state was impossible from the start, how could she not love him for giving his all to a goal?
Even if he denied it, he was kind, secretly helping others being their best person they could be. As harsh and strict as he seemed, he looked out for everyone, not only those close to him or in his dorm. He wouldn’t even mind being painted as something he loathed, as long as that person got the drive to improve themselves. It was why for her, he was a true selfless hero, with shortcomings that he struggled with. And it was why she wanted him to achieve his dream, and had tried to help him in the only way she could, through words, written or spoken, and through art so that others might see him in a different light, the things Vil never mentioned about himself that were easily missed by others just looking at him at glance.
-
He wanted her to look at him. To praise him. To tell him he was the most beautiful.
"I don't care about your opinion. "
It was a bold lie, one to hide his own deepest feelings, the actual fear of her opinion of him. He was aware that he was in the eye of everyone, but...
He wanted to be in her eyes but feared hearing her thoughts. Because she saw right through his efforts. Through everything he did. Would she praise him?
He felt bare, exposed. And, he was unsure if he could handle her rejection. That was why he shut out her opinion fast, fearing the words he didn't want to hear.
Why wasn't she telling him he was beautiful, like everyone else? Why did she approach him easily? She didn't know her place, he kept repeating that to himself, but there was a lingering fear it was because he was nothing to her, hence why she acted so nonchalantly.
He wanted to be her very first thought in the morning and the last one at night, just as she invaded his dreams and haunted him everywhere with her presence or absence. But he couldn't easily go and tell her, "I saw you in my dreams again. We were together, you by my side, the place I yearn for you to be."
He sighed. There was no use getting upset over this.  But these words didn't reach his heart, its pace increasing as he thought of her again.
(He knew that it was because she didn't say those words, that she looked deeper, focusing on his sweat, blood and tears, that he looked for her everywhere now.)
"You've worked so hard to get where you're standing on and that's really amazing."
He was in deep.
"I think your beauty doesn't only lie in how you look, you are beautiful, but it's your determination and hard work that makes you shine."
He stopped breathing when she said that, heart aching so much because she wasn't aware that her words pierced his heart, permanently latching on it like the sword in his crown. Whenever he repeated them in his mind, like a broken record, he clenched his chest, losing all strength, a sweet tasting poison that bewitched his soul. It hurts him but, he couldn't stop himself from yearning it.
"Please, look at me."
"...Please love me..."
He whispered quietly in the darkness of his empty room.
There was an irony of the Pomefiore Queen falling victim to her sweet tender poison.
(Was it really poison? Her words were sweet and gentle, beautiful and without any ill intentions. But they killed him slowly, so they might as well be the most dangerous venom in the world. And he wouldn't stop wishing for it, taking them all until there was nothing left.)
-
"Vil-senpai, good morning!"
She would smile brightly at him and he would avoid her eyes, feigning indifference because he couldn't hold her gaze back. He preferred to nitpick, to tell her that her lips were dry, that she should pay attention to her appearance, harshly scolding her as his hands carefully arranged her tie.
"I won't be always fixing you. You should be always presentable, what am I going to do with you?"
He fussed over her, giving her even some lipstick he had, after applying it to her lips that surely her potato friends would comment on later.
What was he going to do? Wasn't it obvious? He'd look for her next and fuss again over her appearance, because that was as close as he could allow himself to be, safely hidden by the pretense of her untidy appearance.
-
"Tell me, Trickster Ann-kun," Rook's piercing voice shot through the silence like the arrow from his bow. "Do you have feelings for the beautiful Vil?"
He had suddenly approached her, as she had taken a night stroll in the surroundings of Ramshackle Dorm to clear her head, even though she knew the chaos would remain.
She closed her eyes, she knew that looking away or up front would show the answer, a fawn in front of the perceptive hunter. Vil had already confronted her, her eyes telling a different story than what she wanted to say. Rook would surely suspect, no, she had a feeling he was asking to confirm his suspicions.
"What do you mean?"
"Your eyes shine the most when you are next to him, even if you then look away moments after. You approach him often, during the free times he has or even when your paths cross, in between classes and your personal activities. There's a tension, a soft lingering warmth when you talk to him. I look at Vil the most, so naturally I would notice first anything that happens around him."
She looked up at the sky, her lips drawn in a thin line. There were no stars to reflect on her eyes.
"Would it bother you?"
"Non, naturally there are many who have feelings for him. In fact, I would be most bothered if people didn't realize his beauty."
"You did mention it before, you wanted us to see his beauty back during our VDC training."
"Oui, Vil has a beauty no one else possesses. It would be foolish to ignore it when close to it. But we are not talking about me, we are talking about you, Trickster Ann-kun."
"..."
"Befitting of your name, you try to fool your opponents and the people who surround you. But you should already know I am a hunter and it's my pride to say I do not let my prey get away.”
"I had a feeling you would say that, though whatever. Whatever I feel, it doesn't really matter."
She could feel his sharp eyes on her, carefully examining her every movement, conscious or unconscious. For a moment, she thought he was concerned, but she wouldn't engage in eye contact for her sake. She knew better than engaging in a fight she would lose.
"If I like him or not, it doesn't matter. Someone like him shouldn't be with someone like me."
"Do you think of yourself as inferior to him, Trickster Ann-kun? Vil is the kind of person who can appreciate beauty, no matter how unconventional."
"I don't really know where I fall in that category, and I don't think too much about it anyway," she said with a casual shrug, but it didn't shake off Rook's inquisitive gaze.
"You should be aware that you're already someone important to him. What happened in the VDC put you in another place in his eyes."
What would it be? Vil’s overblot and her desperate tries to save him? Their talk alone after they lost the VDC? She was sure Vil couldn’t know her punching Rook was largely due to her own anger at him for doing this to Vil.
But no matter the reason, it changed nothing.
"...It's because of that...Things are fine the way they are now. I'm fine with that. "
"Perhaps you are, but what about Vil?"
She unconsciously turned to him, his green eyes revealing a strong protectiveness and concern. She winced and looked away, though perhaps she had already shown too much.
"...He is better this way. I...I don't deserve him, that's all."
"Is this why you don't grasp for him? The yearning in your eyes, you cannot hide it from me, but you don't wish to claim him."
Ann couldn’t reply, and the look in the hunter’s eyes told him he knew more, her silence a confirmation for him. He pressed for no more answers, not that she would give them. Her love was doomed from the start and she was fine with that.
“But what about Vil?”
That was the only problem, though she prayed it never happened.
-
The truth is, I want him to love me. I want him to hold me.
 But I can’t have him.
I have to look at him from afar, no matter how much my heart aches for him.
This was a waltz for two solo dancers, each gliding at their own tune, so close yet so far. Wanting to get close, but not enough to touch each other. Yearning gazes being the only betrayal of those hidden thoughts.
-
His lips touched hers and a bolt of electricity passed through his body, heart aching so much, as his tight chest reminded him to breathe. Her lips were so soft and tender, and when he pulled back in shock at what he had done, her warmth lingering on his lips almost made him wish to continue. Locking mouths, their skin needing to be one, to be this close always, it was a feeling he had been blessed to have just experienced and cursed, because it would never be enough.
Especially when her eyes reflected a pain he would have never expected to see.
The one time he had let himself be overcome with emotion, his relentless feelings deciding something so bold, it had to be the time where he quietly poured them all in one action only to feel a quiet unmoving slap in the form of her gaze.
She didn't have to say anything, too shocked to move but the rejection in her eyes was more than clear, and her lingering lips on his skin added insult to the injury.
It was the pain he felt as he left the room that let him know how hard he had fallen for her, how much he yearned for her love and adoration, and it was crushing him.
-
"Potato."
"Huh..."
The next thing she realized was his perfume so close filling her nostrils, his soft lips on hers.
And she felt her world crumbling, the small bubble she had crafted for her delusions rupturing and bringing her to the terrible reality she had to confront.
Something took over her, a violent mix of terror and guilt, of her realizing the thing she had done and how far her silly nonsense had reached.
She wanted his love, she yearned for it deeply, but she couldn’t accept it.
Vil was in love with someone else, right? Not her, someone like Rook or someone else who deserved him.
But his lips were on hers, a delicate blessing she wasn’t worthy of receiving. Hence she could only stand in horror, unable to move or react, because what was she supposed to do?
He pulled back abruptly, his cheeks light pink and brilliant violet eyes avoiding hers. He shook his head before vanishing through the door.
She pressed her fingers on her lips, they were warm, so tempting to keep bringing back the ghost of his skin over hers, the thing she had wished deep down for so long.
But the hurt in his eyes kept haunting her, and she felt like dying.

"huling sayaw"
twst oc week - day seven: free day or alternate universe
*arknights au
“hold my hand, before we have to give each other up everything, I will give to you. everything.”
Tumblr media
She had been on the run for days.
Raina gritted her teeth as she tugged her hood lower across her face to shield herself from the heat of the sun. She turned around, her eyes squinted as she glanced at her fellow travellers. Most of them (just like her) bore the mark of the Infection—Oripathy. Dark, crystal shapes that emerge from the skin.
“... We shouldn’t be too far away now.” She kept her voice calm and in control—even if she wanted to scream and cry about how unfair their situation was.
“Where exactly are we going, Raina-nee?” Her eyes met that of a child, clutching onto her older sister. Both had contracted Oripathy the most common way: being exposed to a dead body with the disease. Her heart broke—their futures, stolen from them. Not by the disease, but by the treatment they received from their homeland—Laterano.
It was the Laterano decree, that those who became Infected were forbidden from staying or entering Laterano territory.
“... We’re going to Rhodes Island.” Her smile trembled—and she was sure it was more of a grimace. “I am friends with the Doctor there—we exchanged research quite a bit before...” her voice trailed off. “... If there is a place who will accept us... I’m sure Rhodes Island will.” She looked up, and hoped that there was nothing but determination on her face. “So just a bit more everyone..! We can do this.” She helped guide everyone across the sandy terrains they were crossing before—
She raised her head again and peered into the distance. The sun had just begun to set, dragging its brilliant colours of red and yellow past the horizons. In its wake, the sky began to darken purple and blue--like a bruise.
“We’ll need to set up camp soon...” Her hand reached up, and clamped tight on a small, diamond shape charm that hung around her neck. She felt her heart twist as she traced the shape with a finger—her eyes watered, and the smile she had been desperately holding up—immediately curled downward.
‘I miss them, gods I miss them. I don’t know how to live without them.’
After all, It was the first time, since she was born, that she was separated from them.
--
“Sankta Raina. You are accused of harbouring Infected when it was clearly against Laterano Law. Do you deny it?”
“I do not—but do you not have any humanity in you? These people are still Laterano citizens and are owed help by our government, on our lands—”
“Silence, Sankta Raina. You were not asked to speak.”
“That’s—”
“Sankta Raina. You are also accused of being Infected yourself… and hiding it from Laterano Authorities. Do you deny it?”
“… I do not.”
“Then you and your harboured Infected will be banished and stripped of your Laterano Citizenship and Privileges…”
“Are you serious? Now of all times, we should be united in understanding Oripathy and healing it…! Banishing me—us—it will not cure or help anything—You are just delaying something inevitable—!”
“Out there, you are no longer our concern or our problem. You are on your own, Sankta Raina. You will be stripped of your firearms on your way out of Laterano. Do you have any last-minute requests to make of us?”
“Oh, so now you ask!?”
“Speak it. And perhaps we will permit it.”
“… You won’t tell the twins.”
“Naturally. The two of them are core members of Laterano’s Apostolic Gun-Knights. Their very reputation… their future would be tarnished by your actions… No, the two of them will be kept far away from the trouble you have caused, Sankta Raina.”
“… I’m glad we can agree on one thing.”
--
‘Jade, Floyd... I hope you two are okay. I hope you are not kicking up too much of a ruckus...’ she couldn’t help but desperately pray to any god or higher being that could be listening.
The twins were well loved in Laterano due to their effectiveness as Apostolic Gun-Knights and enforcers of the Laterano law. Their future in Laterano was brilliant—and not one she wanted to mar with her selfish actions.
“Perhaps… I can meet them again one day…” she raised a hand to trace the scars of Oripathy on her cheek. ‘But who am I kidding…’ It would be impossible to cross paths with them again—knowing that Laterano was likely going to send them as far away from her as possible.
‘So until I discover a cure… I can’t see them… and even then, with what I’ve done… Laterano will not make it easy.’ She gritted her teeth, the tears started to gather at the edge of her lashes and she started breathing heavily in an attempt to not let the tears fall.
‘I can’t cry..! If they were here—! They would tell me not to cry—!’
Her thoughts are cut off by a sharp scream behind her. She turned immediately, and what she saw made her eyes widen.
‘Laterano’s Apostolic Gun-Knights!?’
She rushed over to her group as she rubbed fiercely at her eyes to ensure there were no tears before she confronted the Gun-Knights. She slid to a stop and spread her arms out in a protective stance over her group.
“We were peacefully allowed to leave Laterano territory.” Her eyes narrowed and she bared her teeth. “So why are you here? Threatening my companions?”
The Gun-Knight peered at her.
“Are you Sankta Raina?”
“Y—yes. Why do you need to know—!?” Before she could finish her sentence, the Head Gun-Knight gestured with his fingers and two of his accomplices quickly manoeuvred themselves to hold her down on either side. “What are you—?”
“We have reasons to believe that the criminals we are chasing down are looking to meet up with you.” The Head Gun-Knight said. “So we are using you as bait.”
“Criminals?” She questioned, stunned. “What—who would—? I’ve never—!” The Knight looked almost bored as he stared at her.
“Who else but—”
‘No they wouldn’t—’
“J—”
BANG BANG.
The Knight slumped down, dead—and her companions all shrieked in surprise. Raina flinched as she felt blood splatter across her cheeks before she craned her neck to see—
The Twins.
Just as she remembered them. Aquamarine halos and diamond shaped wings shimmered under the light of the daybreak sky. They were beautiful—so beautiful. Raina’s heart skipped a beat at how handsome they were—standing before her, protecting her, as they always did since they were children.
Except...
“Awww, we wanted to keep it a secret a little longer~ Ne, Jade?” Floyd had a tail. Diamond tipped—like his wings. It twisted and flicked around, as if expressing his excitement.
“Ee, Floyd. Oh well, we can’t deny that this slight hiccup in our plans isn’t fun at all.” Jade had horns. Tall and curved wickedly—beautiful and grotesque on an angel...
“Ehehe. You’re right~! Let’s… have some fun…!” Floyd’s horns were identical to Jade’s—if not somehow pointed outward.
“Fufufu….” While Jade’s tail was identical to his brother in appearance, he moved his lazily by swinging it from side to side.
‘The Law is absolute. From the moment a Sankta aimed their gun at another of their kind, their fates were decided.’
Raina could only stare in horror as she watched the twins decimate the entire squadron of Apostolic Gun-Knights—with eyes glowing gleefully and mouths spread into wide, sharp grins. The other Gun-Knights stood no chance—the twins were considered their best agents in decades. Once they had finished, they turned back around, their eyes immediately fixated onto her. Floyd moved toward her eagerly before Jade raised his hand and stopped his brother. Floyd frowned and opened his mouth to protest but he was interrupted by Raina.
“... Why…?” She felt her throat dry. She was caught between sheer happiness at being able to see them, sorrow upon knowing what must’ve happened and—anger. Anger because she did not want this future for them. “Why!? Why are you here—I made sure—!”
“As if they could hide something so important from us.” Jade cut in, calmly. His gold and olive eyes peered down at her, before it flickered off to the terrified group behind her. His smile turned cordial. “Well, it’s quite late in the day. We should set up camp. Don’t you agree d—Raina?”
She turned around at that, to see that her group was staring at the twins in pure fear… as they would any Sankta who had fallen from grace. “Yes… Do… do not worry.” She stood up shakily, “They’re my friends… They’ll keep us safe.”
She smiled—and she wondered again, how reassuring could it even look—when she herself was terrified.
‘What have you two done…?’
--
The whole group skittered around when the twins had rejoined them after disposing of… the bodies. She had only approached them once—to offer them dinner, before she slipped away from their grasp to look after her companions. She could feel the heavy weight of their gaze on her shoulders—down the black crystals that formed on her arms… But she ignored them for as long as she could as she dressed or reworked any of her companions’ injuries.
She did this—going around the hot fire at the center of their camp, until there was no one left to distract herself with and—
“You’ve kept us waiting long enough!” Floyd pouted as he yanked her down to sit in between him and Jade. The other twin stared at her, as collected as ever, as he poked a stick into the fire.
“I have to take care of everyone.” She bit out. “They’re my responsibility now.” Floyd only huffed in response before he nuzzled into the curve of her neck, lips dangerously close to—
“Don’t—!” She flinched back, briefly hitting Jade as her hand went up to cover the crystals that had formed across her skin.
“Haah? You’ve never resisted squeezes before!” His expression twisted. “Is it because of these?” He gestured to his newly acquired demon horns and tail.
“No--of course not—it’s… I’m… an Infected now… I just thought...” The twins snorted in unison.
“You must be a unique kind of stupid, doll. If you think your infection will make us stay away from you.” Jade said dryly, as his hand snaked around her waist and pulled her tight against his side. Before she could protest, Floyd moved, and pressed up against her—which squeezed her in between them both.
“You…” She felt her eyes water and she blinked rapidly—in an attempt to not let her tears fall. “Nothing’s changed…?” her voice cracked.
“Absolutely nothing.” They said vehemently, once more in unison.
“Your future…” She raised a shaky hand to trace her fingers up the length of their dark horns. Both twins bent down, their eyes fluttered shut at the sensation of her hand against their new appendages. “... You shouldn’t have fallen… not for me.”
“On the contrary.” Jade purred as he nuzzled against her shoulder, lips pressed against the crystals there. “How could we picture a future without you?”
“Besides, it was getting boring in Laterano!” Floyd smiled, goofily as he nuzzled his nose against the curve of her shoulder. “It’s more fun with you!” She gritted her teeth, her hands fell away from their horns—and cupped her own face. She started to cry. She had thought she had lost everything but…
Tumblr media
'But she hadn’t lost anything. Not anything of value anyways.
“T—thank you… I’m sorry…!” She began to sob, “I’m sorry I kept it a secret…! I should’ve… told you guys… I…” her whole body began to shake, and the twins only drew closer.
They had been together every day and knew they would see each other every tomorrow. It had simply become impossible to imagine a future without each other.
“That’s right! Say your sorry! To think you were going to have fun without us!” Floyd pouted.
“Cry for now, dear doll. Let it all out.” Jade said smoothly. “And don’t forget, from here on out. We have already fallen… it doesn’t matter how much farther we fall.”

"mahal ko o mahal ako"
twst oc week - day two: relationships or matching
“who am i going to love? you, the one I am longing for? or him, who is knocking on my heart?”
Tumblr media
“Ah..! I’m late!” Ai yelped as she scrambled down the stairs of the Ramshackle dorm. She had promised to go out on a night stroll with her fairy godparent (Malleus, or “Bright Eyes” as she preferred to call him!) but had spaced while doing some revisions over Azul-senpai’s notes. When she had raised her head, she realized it was a couple of minutes past their supposed meet up time.
“I hope he won’t be too upset…!” she mumbled to herself as she staggered out of the dorm’s entry way. She shivered as she stepped to the cold outdoors. She wrapped her arms tight around herself as she kept walking, her eyes flickered upward; awed by the starry sky that expanded before her.
“The sky is beautiful tonight.” She murmured; her cheeks flushed from the cool night air. “I wonder what stories Bright Eyes will tell me…” she muttered out loud. Bright Eyes would often tell her stories about this world’s constellations. They were much different from her own world. Excited for the next story, she finally lowered her gaze to the garden. She blinked in surprise as she realized that Malleus was nowhere to be seen.
“Huh…? B… Bright Eyes?” She called out shakily, “Bright Eyes?” she repeated as she started to walk deeper into the garden. She furrowed her brow nervously, ‘I hope I didn’t miss him or something… I got a feeling that would upset him so..’ She tried to call out again, “Fairy godparen—!?” She squeaked as she found herself tripping over something.
“Ow… What was—” she turned around quickly, only to realize there was a pair of long legs coming out of a nearby bush. She tensed in fear and felt her heartbeat quicken at the suspicious sight. ‘It’s not like I planted any bushes that would have leg plants…’ she thought rather lamely. She shakily got to her knees and drew closer to the legs. She nudged it lightly with her foot and when there was no response, she pulled away and looked around her warily.
‘This isn’t some sort of twisted joke, right?’
She inhaled sharply and turned to the bushes. She bent down warily and pushed the bushes aside. “Uh—I’m sorry for hitting you! Are you ok—?” She froze in surprise at the sight of a familiar senior.
Silky, pale white hair framed the gentle sleeping expression of Silver. His pale lashes flickered with moonlight and his soft lips were parted as he continued to snooze.
Ai stared, wonderstruck by how enchanting Silver looked. Her heartbeat sped up again, but this time it wasn’t because of nervousness—it’s because—‘He’s a Sleeping Beauty…!’ She continued to stare in quiet awe before a sharp sound came from somewhere behind her. It made her flinch hard, and she turned her head to find what made the sound. Her eyes peered wildly at her surroundings before she noticed a bat fly off. ‘Oh… just a bat.’ She exhaled in relief before she turned around and laid a hand on Silver’s shoulder.
“Sil-senpai… Please wake up…!” He’s unresponsive after the first shake. It took a couple more before he shuddered, and his eyes blearily opened. His gaze is fixated somewhere in the distance before his eyes widened in surprise and he shot upright. The sudden movement made her lose her balance and fall back.
“Ow…!” she winced, again. Silver turned to her and blinked those purple eyes slowly.
“Oh… sorry.” He ducked his head down in apology. “I didn’t mean to surprise you, Lady Raina.”
‘Lady..!’ she flushed at the address.
“N, no it’s fine!” she waved a hand close to her face—not only to dismiss his words, but in an effort to settle the blush (she wasn’t successful at all) that had coloured her cheeks. “I just… what are you doing here… asleep… Sil-senpai? It’s really cold and...” she trailed off. “That’s worrying.”
“That’s because Lord Malleus got busy and could not make it to meet with you today for your walk.” Silver said after a moment of thought. “He sent me to walk with you instead…” He raised a hand to scratch the back of his head. “My apologies for falling asleep and… for making you worry for me, my lady.”
“No—it’s okay! It’s fine!” She waved her hand frantically this time. (‘Oh, come on! Calm down!’ she yelled at herself.) “But uh…! Thank you… for telling me… Sil-senpai!”
“Of course. As was my duty.” He nodded as he brushed off the dirt from his knees and stood up. He looked down at her and politely offered a hand. With red cheeks, she took it—and blinked in surprise at how easily he hauled her up to her feet. ‘Strong… Sil-senpai really is a knight huh…’ She thought to herself.
“Is something wrong?” he furrowed his brows. “You’re looking at me quite a lot…”
“No-no! I just! Realized, Silver-senpai is really strong…” She laughed awkwardly, mentally berating herself for looking at him for such a socially inappropriate length of time. She looked down at the hand that Silver had yet to let go off and her eyes widened as he tucked her hand into the crook of his elbow.
“S—Sil-senpai?” she stuttered, “Uh, why?” He looked at her through pale lashes.
“Lord Malleus asked me to escort you on your walk tonight.” He calmly reminded. “Unless you would prefer otherwise—?”
“Ah. No! I mean, I would love to walk with you!” she blubbered. His lips curled into a soft smile and she was once more struck by how beautiful this senior was. Especially with the light of the moon and stars shimmering down onto him…
He bent down and took her other hand in his gloved one. He pressed a gentle kiss against the back—and she felt that spot heat up from his action.
“And I will be honoured to walk with you, my lady.”
--
“That’s my son—!” Lilia exclaimed as he clapped his hands eagerly. Malleus looked on, slightly depressed that he hadn’t been able to spend a little bit more time with one of his favourite humans but…
Ai looked happy and excited to spend time with Silver.
‘The child of man looks good with Silver…’ Malleus thought in approval. ‘He would safeguard her smile.’ To think it had only been a few months back when Ai peered at him with those brilliant eyes and called him—
“You’re my fairy godparent!”
“And I am doting on her as if she is my fairy godchild.” He chuckled lightly. Lilia looked at him at the corner of his eyes, his own amused smile shaping his lips.
“Very well… let’s set the mood… shall we?”
With a snap of his fingers, he felt his magic rush around him and—
--
Tumblr media
“Oh! Sil-senpai…!”
Ai stared on in awe as fireflies began to appear from beyond the forest. Their golden light flickering—and brightening the night evermore.
Ai held out a hand as a firefly drifted close, and gently landed on the tips of her fingers. She lifted her hand; the little firefly used the momentum to spring itself off her hands and into the air. It began to dance and sparkle alongside the other fireflies. She looked eagerly up at Silver only to realize that he was looking at her with a particularly soft expression that made the blood rush to the tips of her ears.
“Um…!”
“I apologize for staring.” He said quietly, “you look beautiful amongst the fireflies.”
She let out a squeak at that, the hand on his elbow tightened abruptly. Then, as if he hadn’t realized how much he had shaken her heart—he looked away.
“Shall we continue with our walk…?”
“Y…yes… please.” She curled a hand over her chest and felt her heart thump to her ears.
‘A… ah… at this rate…I’m so confused. What is this feeling…?’
--
“oh, which one should i listen to? my mind or my heart? i’m so very confused. who am I going to choose? the one I love or the one that loves me?”

twst oc week - day one: school days or domestic
"don't look at me, or else my anxious heart will melt..."
Tumblr media
“Are you sure this is a good idea?”
Ai huffed as she turned to squint at Ace. It was the nth time he had asked, and she was tired of it.
“Hey, Trappola, hey.” She puffed her cheeks up and began to pick up the pace of her walking. “You were the one who begged to be included in my tutorial sessions with Azul-senpai. If you don’t want to go— “
“No! I’m coming!” He replied quickly, “If I can get free lessons from Azul-senpai— “
“They’re not free!” Ai frowned, “you have to pay him back—all three of you have to pay him back.” Her eyes shifted to her other side, where Grim and Deuce had identical looks of horror.
“Haaaah? That’s unfair! You’re getting lessons for free!”
“I’m not!” Ai shook her head, brown hair swished down to her waist at the motion. “I’m paying him.”
“Oh yeah? Paying him with what?” Ace challenged, as he peered at the girl with brilliant, coloured eyes.
“…” Ai shifted her gaze away—at which all three immediately began to protest.
“So, you aren’t after all!”
“That’s so unfair!”
“Hey minion! You have to let me get it free too!”
“No! I—I don’t know what I’m paying him with, but I am certainly paying him back!” she stomped her foot almost childishly.
“Haaah? Azul-senpai say something like that?” Ace snorted as he raised his hands to the back of his head. “Yeah right!”
“It wasn’t Azul-senpai!” she hissed, “It was…” she bit her lip and her cheeks flushed red—she ducked her head, almost shyly. It was the type of action that Ai only ever used around—or when talking about…
“So, it was Jade-senpai.” Ace rolled his eyes in an exaggerated manner. “He’s a liar, you know.”
“Yeah! He’s scarier than that Floyd!” Grim yelped. “That pleasant smile of his… he uses it to manipulate the people around him—you know.” Ace and Grim turned to Deuce, who flinched at the attention. His eyes moved from the expectant expression of the boys before finally turning to the only girl… She had her head bowed; dark hair covered her expression…
“Ai…” he scratched the back of his head anxiously. “… I don’t know. You know his reputation so… If you trust him…”
‘You might end up getting hurt.’ was left unsaid.
“… It’s not like I don’t know.” She mumbled, underneath her breath. She peered depressively down onto the ground, the playful mood from earlier had vanished. The boys looked at each other—slight panic on their expressions and a need to push the blame on any of the other. (Unbeknownst to her peers, her expression changed—darkened—ever so briefly…) Deuce elbows Ace harshly and while the latter scowled, he moved closer to comfort their friend—
“Hey—Ai, you know we didn’t me—”
She slapped her cheeks harshly to keep her thoughts light and happy.
“Fine! Then don’t come!” she huffed, startling them as she raised her head. Her long hair dramatically swung from framing her face, to slapping Ace flat in the face (“OW, WHAT THE FUCK—”)—as she began to stomp off towards Octavinelle’s Dorm.
“Huh? No wait! We are coming with you! We’ll haggle with Azul-senpai if we have to!”
--
“—that’s because you have to do it like this—” Azul hissed as he pointed harshly at a point in Deuce’s notes. “Sweet Witch, how did you even get past—” Azul went off into a long spiel about the finer points of Alchemy. Ai muffled her giggles as she noticed that Deuce (and Grim, alongside him) began to zone off, not absorbing a single thing Azul was saying…
‘And they went through all that trouble to haggle with him for a sit down…’ Ai’s lips quirked before her gaze flickered off to Ace, who had Floyd’s sole attention. The tall senior peered over Ace’s shoulder with a wide grin.
“Wow. Kani-chan’s quite lazy, isn’t he?” Floyd teased.
“Hey, shut up Floyd-senpai! I don’t see you doing anything!” Ace scowled; Floyd only cackled in response.
“Eh? Studying is boring when you can remember everything easily~”
“How does that even work!?”
Ai let out another soft, little laugh at Ace’s indignation. She was more than aware of how brilliant Floyd was—but she was also aware of how difficult it was to ask him for help if he wasn’t interested at all. She knew because, ‘how many times have I sat here…’ her eyes flickered around Octavinelle’s Lounge. ‘and gotten teased over it…?’
“Raina!” She flinched in her seat; eyes darted towards a scowling Azul. His eyes flickered down to the papers on the desk. “You’re not allowed to slack off as well. I’ve taught those to you already, so do the problems and I’ll look it over later.” She flushed in embarrassment at being caught, distracted.
“Sorry senpai. I’ll get right to it.” She nodded fiercely as she gathered the papers in her hand—when at the corner of her eye she noticed something. She turned her head in surprise and had her breath stolen from her.
“Oya, oya. Hello Raina.”
Tumblr media
“Hey Jade-senpai…” she wheezed. “You... you’re here.” Her cheeks reddened at the mere sight of him, of his smile. (Which widened at his junior's speechlessness.) He leaned over the couch, his face a few inches away from hers (‘Don't look so closely at me—! You're too close!’ She panicked internally.)—a tray pulled tight to his chest as he gently settled a teacup onto the low table.
“Where else would I be?” he murmured, amused. After all, out of the two of them, he was the Octavinelle student. Ai doesn’t respond, her eyes are busy raking all over his face as if she hadn't just seen him earlier. As if she hadn't seen him in so long and needed to engrave the planes of his face to her memory. She studied how the light from the aquarium cloaked him in some supernatural light. His lashes tangled with a single blink, olive and gold eyes peered down at her with mirth. Her eyes hovered briefly on the curve of his nose, before it dropped down to his lips and that smile.
That smile.
It was the smile that made her blush reach her ears, made her throat dry, made her fingers curl, made her heart skip, made her want to—
Their silent staring is cut off by an indignant Azul.
“Hey, Jade! Stop distracting my student!” She let out a strangled sound (at Azul's words, or upon realization of where her thoughts were—she's not sure) whilst Jade merely chuckled.
“I do apologize, Azul.” he maneuvered the tray so that he could put his hand over his chest and bow politely. “I shall endeavour not to do that again.” His eyes flickered back down to the blushing girl.
“Your tea, my dear doll.” he gestured (she let out a squeak at the nickname, and she swore his smile spread even more—) before he retreated to Mostro Lounge. Ai’s gaze lingered on his back, still dazed from his proximity.
‘... It doesn’t matter what people say. I want to trust him. I think there’s something worth trusting in him.’ She’s not sure what, or if there actually is anything to trust but… Her heart pounded.
People do stupid things when they’re in love and she resigned herself to whatever Jade Leech would bid her to do.

"ever ever after"
twst oc week - day three: fairytales or reverse isekai
*special au where ai is a fairy!
“to ever, ever after forever could start today ever ever after maybe its just one wish away”
Tumblr media
Jade softly closed the door to his bedroom. An exhausted sigh escaped his lips. He had been busy most of the day and even though he had just returned to his room, he would need to change to his dorm uniform and get ready to serve at the Mostro Lounge.
Time he could spend with his precious terrariums… He unclipped his magical pen from his breast pocket and put it down on a nearby table. He had to get ready for his shift… His lips curled downwards until he heard a familiar tinkling noise. He raised his head, eyes fixed on the terrarium at the center of his display. Something sparkled from it and seemed to zoom right for Jade.
His lips twitched as a sudden force pressed lightly against his cheek.
Tumblr media
“Jade, Jade~!” The little mushroom fairy snuggled up to him—her tiny feet landed on his shoulder. “Welcome home Jade~!”
He let out a soft laugh, his hand instinctively raised to keep the fairy from falling off his shoulder.
“I am home, Raina.” He felt her move and settle into his palm. She curled up, her adorable mushroom hat sat daintily on her head and her pink dress was spread around her as she sat on her knees. Her pink wings shimmered underneath the light of his bedroom.
“How was your day, Jade~?” She trilled. Her bright amber eyes peered up at him in excitement. Ever since he had rescued her in the mountains, she had never really left his room (not that she wanted to and not that he would let her—a mushroom fairy, of course he would keep that little joy to himself if he was able to!) Whilst she found no need to leave, the fairy named Raina always seemed so interested in his day in the outside world.
“It was quite tiring. But unfortunately not over, quite yet. I must help at Mostro Lounge today.” He said and watched in amusement as the little fairy practically wilted in his hands.
“Oh…” she pouted, “I thought we could spend more time together.” He laughed again—it may seem that he wasn’t the only one who was ever so possessive of a new friend. He raised another finger and used it to gently pat the little fairy on her head.
“Do not worry, sweet fairy. I do wish to spend more time with you.” She flushed happily at his words. “Would you like to accompany me on a trip to the Alchemy Workshop or the mountains soon? I am most definitely planning a trip.”
“To the mountains—! I haven’t been there since you rescued me…! Of course~” she fluttered into the air and twirled around in excitement. “I can show you some mushrooms still missing from your collection~!” She eagerly puffed up her chest. “I am a mushroom fairy after all~!”
His lips curled up into an expression of pure delight.
“Then it’s a date.”
“Oh~ A date~!” Her blush was darker and she played with her dress. “I might need some new… and…” she mumbled.
“I will drop by the Gardens to find some loose petals you can use for your new dress.” He suggested, willingly. It was a small price to pay to keep the mushroom fairy happy. She helped him take care and grow his precious hobby after all.
“Oh!” She held her hands close to her mouth, her eyes glittered. “Oh yes please! Thank you Jade~! Thank you~” she floated from his hand to nuzzle against his cheek. He lets her do this, patient and amused all the while. The little fairy seemed to enjoy nuzzling up to him when she could…
‘How cute.’ He thought.
“Now then, I must get changed for my shift, and while I do that, won’t you tell me about your day?” She squeaked at that—and fluttered off his cheek to zoom back into her home in one of the terrariums he had created. He watched, satisfied, as the little fairy ducked into a small house he had crafted. Then from there, she began to regale him about the mushrooms he kept in his bedroom.
“Mamo has become pretty stubborn about the way they’re growing, I think they should visit the Alchemy Workshop again—” he chuckled again, it would never fail to amuse him how she had named his mushrooms… “Yuuya might need more of that fertiliser made by—Trey-san was it—” he hummed and made a mental note of it. “Kana was the best girl! She’s doing great in the terrarium closest to your brother—” He continued to quickly change clothes while Ai kept talking. “—Liz on the other hand is acclimating quite well to the sandy terrarium… I feel we should move Dory to one as well…!”
He turned around to peek at the terrarium and barely stifled a laugh to see that she was carefully facing away from him. (“El is growing best away from sunlight while Wyn seems to prefer the heat—”) He remembered the first time he had changed clothes without warning and the girl had tossed tiny rocks at him in indignation. “I am a lady, you know!” she had yelled, flustered at his half nude body.
Yes, life had certainly become more colourful with her tiny presence in it.
As he finished putting his dorm clothes on, he called out for her again.
“I will be going now, Raina.”
The fairy fluttered out of her home and drew close to him once more.
“Okay!” She said, nodding her head. “I will be here..! Jade…” he paused, and peered at her at her sudden silence.
“I will miss you!” She blurted out, her hands reached for her head so she could hide underneath her hat.
“It’s just for a little bit more, Raina.”
“Mhm~! I know but! I will still miss you!” She looked up at him—shy but fierce somehow. There’s a brief hesitation on her face before she darted close and—
Jade blinked as he felt her kiss the corner of his lips.
“—have a good day at work.” With a loud squeal the fairy zoomed away—back to her home. He can hear her squeak madly to herself but he could only let his lips curl into a smirk.
“My my, how daring… Until I see you later, Raina.”

The Mirror of Darkness floated before her. Its expression is difficult to read as it regarded the girl it had been unable to sort, that time—so many days ago.
Raina blinked, surprised. She quickly turned her head from side to side—to her hands, then back up at the mirror. It stared back at her with empty eyes, and she shivered.
“… Is this… a dream…?” She asked, but the Mirror ignored her, only regarded her with an air… that was almost curious.
“About you, I once said.” It murmured. “I sense not a spark of magic from this one…The colour, the shape, all are nothing.” Ai stiffened at that; her fingers laced tightly together.
“Nobody could understand it.” Ai opened her hand, and a shimmer of magic flew from the tips of her fingers. “Why… I could suddenly use magic.” She looked at the magic dancing at her fingertips, a content smile on her lips. “Nobody could understand it but… I am happy. I fit in, now—in this Twisted Wonderland.”
“… This place really is the fantasy of my dreams.” She continued, the magic at her hands turning into little flowers and butterflies—bursting forth in multiple colours…
“Nobody could understand it.” The Mirror repeated her words. She lowered her hand and let the magic die away. She met its solemn gaze and couldn’t help but tense.
Tumblr media
She didn’t like it.
The way it was staring at her—
It almost felt as if it could see what she held tight in her heart—the secret she kept in her soul.
“Nobody could understand it.” The Mirror said again. “But I believe, you know exactly why…”
“No, I don’t.”
“Yes, you do.” He replied calmly, despite the rising panic in Raina.
“No—don’t tell me—don’t—”
When something is spoken out loud, it suddenly becomes all the more real.
So don’t tell me.
Please.
Let me enjoy… this Twisted Wonderland…!
“Child, you are meant to be an empty vessel. And yet you bear the shape of a cup—with magic spilling out of you and its colour is ▃▃▂▂▃ ▃▂▃▂ ▂▂▃—”
She jolted awake, sweat dripped down her brow. She blearily looked at her hands as they trembled.
“Doll, are you alright?” She blinked wearily, before she turned her head to see the calm gaze of Jade. She noticed he was in his dorm uniform, without the blazer and hat...
“Y… yeah… I…” her voice is weak and as she pushed herself upright, she feels something fall from her shoulders. Jade let out a sound of disapproval—and he reached forward to pull his blazer up and over her shoulders again. He pressed a bare hand against her cheeks and frowned.
“You are heating up.” His brows furrowed and something that might’ve been worry (or is she making things up in her head? As she always does—?) passed through his eyes. He watched, as the girl pressed her cheek into his palm. He can feel her tremble as she nuzzled into his cold hand. The cold sensation was good for her pounding headache. “Rest more, doll. I—you won’t be of any use to m—Mostro Lounge if you don’t feel better soon.”
Her eyes became darker and then dazed.
“Yeah… you’re right.” Her eyes fluttered shut. “Will you stay… senpai?”
She falls asleep before she could hear a response.

twst oc week - day five: unique magic or magicless
*special au where ai grew up in twst and develops a um!
"all that is near us we must know could disappear any day be careful the main key to finding happiness lies nowhere else but in our souls"
Tumblr media
Octavinelle would have one prominent student amongst the first years. And this would be none other than—
“Raina.” Said girl snapped into attention at her dorm leader’s voice.
“Yes Azul-senpai?” Azul peered at her from the corner of his eyes. She stood slightly off to Jade’s other side. One hand curled at her chest and eyes attentively staring at him. She was their junior back in the Coral Sea, so imagine their surprise when they found that she had followed them all the way to Night Raven College.
“A client of mine... that is. Idia-san wishes to borrow your presence and Unique Magic once more.” He paused, “is your Unique Magic ready?”
She blinked and nodded cheerfully.
“Yup! I set another microwave on fire at the Mostro Lounge today! And I also tripped down the stairs this afternoon!” She gave him a wink. “My Unique Magic is probably charged to full again!”
Tumblr media
At her words, Azul’s eyes twitched and Floyd let out a loud laugh. Jade peered at her, eyes scanning her head to toe for any visible injuries.
“Aaaah~! Ai’s accidents are way too funny! It’s always fun to see the things you accidentally get into..!”
“Thank the Sea Witch that Idia-san seems to believe so strongly in your abilities... He is paying us a high price. So make sure you don’t fail us tomorrow.”
“Of course senpai! Gotta pay back for that ruined microwave.” Azul grumbled at her words, before he turned to Jade with a deadpan expression.
“Of course. The damages have been calculated, and the loss of another microwave will barely make a dent in our finances.” Jade inclined his head. “I believe it was a great idea to sell Raina’s presence and the use of her Unique Magic. We are earning much from it.”
“Anything for my beloved seniors~!” Ai smiled, goofily. Truly uncaring—what mattered to her was that she was making her three seniors pleased with her contributions to Mostro Lounge... albeit the fact that her services weren’t really connected to the Lounge itself.
“There there.” Ai flushed happily as Jade reached out to pet his junior on the head. “You are doing such a good job for us, doll. We expect nothing but the best from the stubborn mermaid that seemed to have followed us to Night Raven College...fufufu.”
“Yes…! I’m happiest when fulfilling my seniors' wishes…!” They all shared an amused glance, what a frighteningly naive and absentminded girl… Not that it mattered—as long as she only showed such intense devotion to them.
“Jade will escort you tomorrow. (“Eeeeh? If you’re going to Ignihyde, then I’m coming too! There’s someone I wanna bother…!”) Don’t want you getting into any last minute accidents and never finding your way to Idia-san... he’s a very important client after all!” She nodded in excitement. “Well, I’ll dismiss you for now. Go get some rest. And try not to get into another accident before you get to your room!”
“I will try my best but I make no promises, senpai!” At that, Azul could only groan, Floyd laughed—and Jade’s smile… faltered.
Had it not been for Jade clutching her elbow throughout her entire trip to Ignihyde, Ai would've gotten into at least eight accidents (Floyd was, of course, content to watch and laugh). Luckily, Jade had been present to steer her away. He shook his head.
He truly had no idea why or how her magic worked—only that he had seen it first hand enough to say that the girl was capable of manipulating fate… in a manner of speaking. Her Unique Magic was, by all accounts, incredibly powerful. Azul didn’t really understand it and he had a difficult time believing in it but Jade—and his brother, Floyd—had found it to be an incredibly amusing power. At times, they would allow themselves to be subjected to it. It has always served to give them an incredibly enjoyable time.
The repercussions of it, however… He peered down at the girl. She was, like him, dressed in her school uniform. She wore the blouse, with her ribbon, the Octavinelle vest and her thick cardigan. Her bottoms on the other hand—she had switched and wore the pants version for today. As she did on days when the scraps and bruises on her legs were a bit too excessive and easier to cover with pants… Yes, the repercussions weren’t good. While the positive effects of her UM can be shared with other people (generous, this doll of his was—), the negative effects only affected her.
(It almost made him frown. He hadn’t particularly enjoyed the days when the backlash hit her harder than usual...)
(What? Jade Leech worried? Whatever gave you such an idea?)
“Jade Leech! Raina Sorte!” The little Ortho Shroud appeared in Ignihyde’s lounge. (Floyd had long since abandoned them once he caught sight of a certain classmate…”There you are!” “W-wah? Floyd, why are you here? I have to go meet C—” “Eh? Spend time with me instead!”) “My brother has been waiting!”
“Hey Ortho, hey.” Ai greeted as she hopped onto her feet, she stumbled briefly then blushed as Jade immediately placed a hand on the small of her back to steady her. Ortho peered at her with slightly worried eyes.
“Will you be okay, Raina Sorte?”
“Yes! Jade-senpai is with me after all!” She turned to him, eyes aglow with nothing but trust. He let out a soft laugh at that.
“I will certainly do my best to keep m—our doll safe… Or else we wouldn’t be able to fulfill our contracts now, would we? Fufufu.” he said, a pleasant smile on his lips. When they’re finally brought before Idia, whose expression brightened at the sight of Ai.
“Oh Best Girl is here. GG.” Jade followed close behind as Ai stood right next to Idia’s chair.
“Oooh, so what game is it this time, Idia-senpai?”
“Upright Underland!” He chirped up rather happily—Ai was one of the very few people he had opened up to about games because she had been genuinely interested, “I had to grind some gems because I just MLB’ed Flora-chan and Castle-chan from the Flower Day Event--but then they suddenly dropped Sterling-chan’s Birthday Banner and I really want her…!” He played around with the game’s interface and showed Ai, Sterling’s card art. “Look! Her baton matches her mom, Lilith-chan’s bat aesthetic…!”
“Oooh! Lilith’s the MILF character, wasn’t she?”
“Yes! I need to bring her daughter home…!”
“Aww!” Ai cooed as she peered at the screen. “I’ll do my best for you, Idia-senpai!” Idia clapped his hands and put his phone down in front of her. Jade and Ortho took this as their cue to step away. Her Unique Magic was the type to spread out and affect everyone around her—so they could only hope that stepping away, even a little, would help ensure that her magic would be focused. Ai closed her eyes and chanted:
“Lucky Ending..!”
--
“—Oof!” Ai tripped, again and even as Jade attempted to catch her, she still fell, hard—on the ground. “Owwie…” He sighed deeply and bent down slightly to pull her up again.
“My, I don’t quite understand why getting the same card five times in a row could use up so much of your Lucky Ending.”
“Well! It’s a gacha.” Ai winced as she stretched out her injured legs. “It’s technically gambling. And I got enough copies to MLB Sterling-chan in one ten roll. My luck was certainly at peak performan—woah!” She tripped again—she waved her hands frantically around before this time Jade was finally able to catch her. She looked at him, surprised.
“You know senpai. You don’t have to catch me when I fall. It’s better if my luck builds back up with small accidents like this.”
“You speak as if…” I don’t want to catch you when you fall. As if I don’t mind seeing you in pain. He held his tongue, and smirked instead.
“I was simply growing tired of you falling and making whiny noises.”
“Oh. That’s valid.” Ai hummed as Jade pulled her up, and tucked her into his side. At his actions, her face turned red. “Senpai—!? W—what?”
“We should go back to the Mostro Lounge quickly, doll.” Jade said smoothly, “I’m sure Azul will be pleased to hear that Idia-san was very happy with your services.”
“A—ah… of course.” Jade’s arm tightened and secured itself around her waist.
“Since when was it that I could no longer stand to see her like that…? My oh my, what have you done to me… little doll?”
