Leona really was done dirty by his chapter

Long post so imma put it under the cut-

First, I think the first impression of Leona’s character is gonna be different depending on if you’ve played/read the Japanese version of the game, or if you’ve only played the English release. Because, if you asked a Japanese player, they’d say he’s informal and disinterested, maybe rude. But an English player is much more likely to say he’s an outright bully, mean, entitled.

Part of this is because in the original Japanese, Leona often spoke in a very informal way (especially for a prince), which came across as him being rude. But, since that’s not how the English language works, they added insults to his lines where there weren’t any before. They also removed almost all mentions of his brother or family, aside from the flashback scene at the very end of the chapter and Cheka’s appearance in the infirmary.

But I think the main problem is, we barely saw him at all in his own chapter. Hell, he had more of an impact in chapter 3 than his own.

So, since we spent a lot more time with the Heartslabyul boys and Ruggie than we did with him, only saw a few glimpses of him until his overblot, we only saw the very surface level first impressions of him. Which is pretty bad, considering Leona overblots pretty much entirely due to emotion instead of overusing his magic (he doesn’t use his magic at all until the very end during his overblot). Emotions tied to his family, standing in said family and the way the majority of his kingdom sees him. Which we didn’t see at all aside from a teeny glimpse through a flashback during his overblot.

I think just adding a scene or two showcasing his home life would have made a huge difference in how the player base sees him.

Maybe add a scene where Cheka came to Night Raven early to see his uncle, try to run over and hug him, only for his attendants whisper-shouting from several feet away to get away from Leona, he’s dangerous, don’t anger him, but unwilling to come any closer to said prince themselves in fear of his unique magic. Have Leona brush off the comments but later in the privacy of his room be upset about them.

Or perhaps add a few scenes to his flashback, show him working so so hard as a little kid to learn as much as he could, to be the best despite people’s comments so that he may earn their respect and praise, but have his every effort be shot down by everyone in comparison to his brother (his much older brother, I’m talking about a decade or so older). 

Or add a scene at the start of the chapter, showing the reason Leona came to Night Raven College at all (a year later, as he didn’t go when he first got the letter, already knowing most of the material they were teaching) was because Cheka was born, how everyone adored the baby prince from birth and he got pushed further into the shadows by everyone. (this part is canon, but you only learn it in Leona’s birthday card story)

Heck, a few short scenes throughout the chapter showing him giving advice or wisdom to his dorm students or club mates would have made a big difference.

I mean, this is the guy Ruggie and the rest of his dorm were willing to follow, even risking serious repercussions (I mean, sabotaging the other teams, going as far as injuring the competition, they really put their necks on the line, because they believed in Leona and his plan).

But, since a lot of his character we do get to see is locked behind card stories or bits and pieces in events or lost in translation, he was kind of destined to be viewed negatively by the player base.

leona kingscholar; 1,394 words; fluff... bc i was thinking about leona's power and... well.

he has never fancied himself a romantic (more a lazy realist, how could he not be, after all he’s seen, all he’s suffered, being born who he is — what he is), and yet the first time he makes you laugh, he wonders if he hasn’t just been lied to about what romance is for his entire life.

because how else is he to explain the way you make him feel, the way he can’t stop himself from staring when you move to brush your hair behind your ears, how his eyes are drawn to the sloping line of your shoulders when you sit across from him at lunch, shrugging or laughing at something someone else said. how else does he explain away the purr already curling up his chest the first time you reach out to run your fingers through his hair, tugging lightly on the ends, marveling at the softness, saying that you wished you had hair like this — so beautiful and thick.

“it’s the royal blood that does it,” ruggie had teased, giggling to himself, and leona had considered glaring, but it’d been too hot and he found he couldn’t be bothered, not when you were still absently running your fingers along his scalp, making a mess of his thoughts.

“i dunno,” you’d said, looking down at him from above, his head pillowed on your lap, a grin perched on your lips like fireflies on a midsummer’s night, “i think it’s all the napping. they don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing.”

“hn, you should try it sometime, it’s pretty nice,” leona had said, letting his eyes fall shut, his tail tapping lazily against the gorgeous green lawns, the shade of the massive willow tree above them sending dappled sunlight across your skin in patterns he wishes he could paint into the darkness behind his eyes. just so he could trace them over again with his fingers, trail them over with his lips.

and at first, the tells himself that it’s a summer thing — the both of you driven to incoherence and passion by the warmth, the heat, that something like this could never last, like building sandcastles in a desert storm but then one night, you tell him that even if that were true, nothing would change. that you’d still be here in the morning.

“but…”

“why?” you finish for him, turning to look at him, your cheek pillowed on your folded arm, your eyes a pair of twin stars, locked in orbit in a distant galaxy and, not for the first time, leona finds himself caught in the sheer gravity of you.

you smile, and he thinks he feels the entire world around him spin to a stop, the wind shushing itself in the ruffling feathers of sleeping birds, the jungle a respite of silence for a single beat, a single held breath.

he reaches out to trail a finger along the silken smooth of your cheek and you reach out to catch his hand, pressing his palm to you.

“because… even if this ends one day… it wouldn’t change what i feel for you now. and just because a thing might break or fall apart one day doesn’t mean it isn’t worth building in the first place.”

leona laughs, the sound deep and rich as it rumbles from him, even as he shakes his head and pulls you closer, pulls you into his chest, tight enough for you to squeal, pushing back against him, squirming in his arms — he breathes you in and lets himself sink into the scent of you, the sweet and musk of your skin, the slight tang of your sweat, the fragrance of your body layered over his sheets.

that night, he falls asleep with you in his arms.

the next morning, you wake up to find him already awake, watching you with half-lidded eyes, a broad, easy grin on his lips.

“good dreams?’ you ask.

“mm,” he says, stretching slow and deliberate before twisting in a swift motion to pin you beneath him, “the best.”

you blink up at him, slow and sleepy and soft, “what about?”

“about… all the castles i’d build for you one day.”

“one day?”

“yeah,” he says, leaning down to nose at the juncture of your neck, shivering as he feels your fingers tangling in his hair, the breaths quickening in your chest.

“why one day?”

“cause…” he hums, trailing his lips gently along the exposed skin one your shoulder, savoring the way you gasp when he lets his teeth catch along your collarbone, “i don’t want to build you sandcastles.”

you laugh then, and he drinks in the sound, leaning down to catch it between his lips, silently thanking the heavens that the temperature of the dorms is so carefully controlled.

“so… what kind of castles will you build me?” you ask, pulling away, all the sleep now gone from your eyes, replaced by a sharp, scorching desire, the kind of look that sets leona’s entire body aflame.

he growls, deep in the registers of his throat, his chest, his whole body rumbling with the sound.

“i’m gonna build you castles of glass.”

“glass?” you quirk your head, your fingers pausing in their slow but certain journey down the front of his already half-opened sleep shirt.

he grins, catching your hand and bringing it to his lips, pressing a kiss to your wrist and watching you gasp.

“yeah, from what i hear, they’re quite a bit sturdier than sand.”

“th-that they are but…” you hiss as he kisses up your arm before placing your hand behind his neck, his hands settling around you waist, “w-what’s all this about, all of a sudden?”

leona smirks before rolling the pair of you over to settle you over his hips, your hair spilling over your shoulders as you squeak and steady yourself with your palms on his chest.

“cause i’ve decided that i don’t want this to be over — i don’t want this to break or fall apart… i want this to last for —“ he still hesitates over the word forever, because sweet god, when did he become that kind of person, the kind of person who promises forevers, anyway?

“for a long, long time,” he says, finally, even as you press your lips and smile down at him, your thighs on either side of his, the morning sun washing the horizon in pinks and oranges, your cheeks a mirror for the blushing sky.

“and… what’s stopping you from doing that now?” you ask, walking your fingers up his chest, tracing your thumb along the line of is lips. he catches it between his teeth just to hear you moan.

“well… turning sand to glass isn’t exactly easy… we haven’t covered it in alchemy class yet.”

you tumble into a fit of giggles, burying your face in his chest, and leona finds himself laughing too, wrapping his arms around you, letting the laughter wash through him in waves, ebbing and cresting till he’s full to bursting with it.

“alright then, i’ll look forward to it,” you say, when finally, the pair of you have settled back into your bodies, your skins still tingling from all that laughter.

“you better. it’s gonna be incredible.”

“the most beautiful thing on the entire savannah.”

“mhm. and they’ll be strong enough to withstand any kind of storm.”

you grin, leaning up to press your lips to his jaw; he turns down towards you, catching your kiss against his.

“hm… but you’ll have to be careful,” you say, a bit breathless when you pull away.

leona hikes an eyebrow, “and why’s that?”

“cause glass is breakable, isn’t it?”

and here, he shrugs, casting his eyes back up at the high ceiling of his dorm.

“sure, but… if it breaks, then we’ll fix it. if it shatters then… we’ll build another one. a bigger one — a better one.”

because leona has never considered himself particularly romantic, but with you, he’s slowly come to realize that love, even more so than sand, is infinite. and you can always, always make more of it when you need it.

Where Are You?

Summary: Yuu stopped showing up in the HoM mainly because of the canon story still processing. This took place before and during Book 7.

Note: Gender-neutral Yuu (can use your Yuu oc for this)

It has been an exhausting day in school for Yuu. They just dealt with Idia's and Ortho's overblot a few weeks ago, and now Yuu has started to gain awareness. They notice how each overblot resembles the Great Seven's by the vivid dreams they are having, and now worrying for the next one. 

"*Sigh* I need to get ready for work. Just need to rest for a while before dinner." 

As minutes went by, Grim woke up Yuu to remind them that it's about to be dinner time, well, mainly to remind them of his tuna. Yuu couldn't blame Grim for this one, he did get kidnapped and probably never eaten his favorite food. 

"Sure, Grim. Let's go to Mr. Sam's shop. Maybe get more than three this time."

"Fnagh? You will?"

"Yes, I have been saving up from my job. Remember?"

"Oh yeah."

"Well then, let's go in a hurry as I have to go to work in about an hour."

In the House of Mouse, Yuu serves the food to the great sevens as they are the only waiter who wasn't afraid of them. Also the fact they can handle it. Yuu also knows about their evil deeds from their vivid dreams, but after dealing with the OB boys, they kind of got used to them and see the similarities between them. 

After their work hours, they are on their break so they went to the seven's table to chat with them.

"So Yuu, how's your day in Night Raven College?" (QoH)

"Busy as the upcoming exams are coming next month." 

"If you need help, you can ask one of your classmates. Why not ask Azul? I'm sure he'll help you without paying any debt." (Ursula)

"I'm pretty sure they'll ask Riddle as they are not what they call "shady" Ursula." (QoH)

"Aren't you forgetting that Leona is wiser than those two. He's even older than those brats." (Scar)

'Oh boy, here we go.' 

"Oh wait! I forgot to mention that I won't be able to come back to work."

"So when will you be back from your exams?" (EQ)

"I would say about a week or two. I'm not sure how long it'll take considering it's a different school system from my home world, but I know it won't take long."

During the conversation, Yuu didn't bring up another overblot incident, which happened to be the shroud brothers. They didn't want to make them worried, but Yuu still needs to tell them about their vivid dreams and know the truth about them. They just need to wait until the time is right. 

After hours pass, the clubhouse is about to close. Yuu farewell to the great sevens and the other disney characters as they left. Mickey congrat them and gave them their paycheck of 5,000 thuamarks. 

"Thank you, Mickey."

"No problem, Yuu."

"By the way Mickey, I won't be able to work in the next couple of weeks. I have an upcoming exam so I would need time to study and a small break as well."

"Oh okay, thank you for reminding me, Yuu. Remember to take it easy. I'll have to tell the other staff about it."

"No worries, I also told the great sevens about it. I'm sure the rest will understand my situation."

"Okie dokie! Good night, Yuu." 

Little does Yuu know this might be the last time they see the rest of the disney characters again.

After a couple of weeks, Mickey and the staff were able to work knowing Yuu is busy with their education. There was some mischief going around, but it was only from Pete, and one of the great seven's shows up one time only. So far, everything seems normal. Nothing can go wrong… right?

It's been about a month, and the whole House of Mouse Club was panicking. Yuu should have been done with the exams. Where are they? Did something happen to them? 

Of course it wouldn't make sense, Yuu wouldn't just quit their job as they need money to buy their needs or send a message to Mickey or anyone to let them know. 

Even the great seven's were wondering what happened to them. Someone like Maleficent, who has access to travel to Twisted Wonderland world only to find out she can't.

 As if there is a barrier that she can't enter. That's when things are going downhill.

Mickey and his friends try to calm everyone down, but nothing seems to work. Until the lights went dim, the front stage, the screen went black. Then the loading screen started, which is not just any loading screen but the twisted wonderland loading screen. Everyone then quieted down as they sat down at their table as they watched how book 7 started.

With all there is, the screen went black again. With half of them, questions to what just happened and the sleeping beauty cast, now know what's going to happen next. 

Then again, 2 months later, the theater screen went black and the twst loading screen play. Now playing Book 7, chapter 2. 

"Hey Mal, do you know what's going on?" (Hades)

"How I'm I supposed to know? I can't enter Twisted Wonderland because the canon story is happening so I can't interfere." (Maleficent) 

"But do you know what will happen? This is where he will began to overblot." (Jafar) 

"Let's just watch it. There's no way my descendant won't-" (Maleficent)

*Malleus OB by end*

"..." (Maleficent) 

"You were saying~?" (Scar)

"Shut up." (Maleficent)

Knowing there's like 5 chapters in Book 7, I have no clue for how long will I continue writing. So I just stop at where chpater 2

I find it really hard to explore Leona's character with the limited amount of information about the structure of Sunset savannah monarchy. I wish there was more detail into how he was treated within aristocratic circles because Leona's developed good people skills, I wouldn't say he was well liked, but he's still a prince. I get that his frustration is centred around his rivalry with his brother, but how did that fester(whats his subconsious fear)? Who were his parents? How did his brother come into power? How did their dynamic shift completely? Why isn't Leona's depressing attitude addressed more seriously in canon(crowley might as well hand in his licence as much as NRC appears to be an objective institution, it isn't and the competitive nature of it, the social divide between the students, does impact how they are treated and that can contribute to overblot rates) the system is a lot more sinister than I'd initially thought but I wish there were more world building hints at societies outside NRC(I know it's centred around the school but I have thoughts alr!!)

Tl;Dr Leona is a hard character to analyse and I wish there was more content about him

Chapter 1 - 6 OB Battles with a strong friend

Personally I don't raise my R cards and most of my SRs unless I don't have any other cards to work on. So I did all the OB battles up to Chapter 6 relying on strong friend supports. As long as you have a strong support, you can use your honey and books for cards you want to invest in.

If you haven't already, check out the FAQ for details of the elements and effects of all the OB battles. Mod Furoido made a post about doing all the OB fights with a team of Rs and the guest supports that you can check out here.

If you are having trouble finding strong or specific support cards, you can check out our post here on how to refresh the support list. You could also try finding supports on reddit or discord.

If you are persistent and willing to keep retrying the battles, you can defeat Chapter 1-6 OB battles with a fully built support card. I made sure the duo partner and power buddy of the support SSR are on the team. Until Chapter 6, all the Rs I use are Lvl 1 1/1 and I picked them for their elements in case I didn't get the support SSR spells in the first turn.

Most people get stuck with OB Jamil. You need a 10/10 Leona to do because you won't do enough damage without the 2 strong hits from his M1. This took a few retries until I was able to land strong hits with both of Leona's spells.

With Dorm Riddle Lvl 80 10/10

Similar to OB Jamil, you need a 10/10 Dorm Riddle for his M1 2 strong hits otherwise you won't do enough damage.

Ignihyde

You can't use supports for the Ch6 towers but since you got past the towers, you should be able to beat OB Idia with the Tower 3 team and using a strong Dorm Azul support. I did beat him with a very weak team consisting mostly of the cards I recommend building for Chapter 6 Towers. I did try with Lvl 1 1/1 R cards but Idia burn affect took off too much HP before I could get to Turn 6 to have Azul's duo ready again.

With Dorm Azul Lvl 110 10/10 and everyone else on the team is under Lvl 40, no groovy, and spells are all 1/1. They do have the stat bonus from being MLB since we got that for the 2nd EN anniversary.

Reminder that leona used his “king’s roar” on ruggie //before// his overblot!! Haha isnt that so symbolic? For a person who was always look down on in his own home,treat ruggie,arguably the only person who genuinely wanted leona to be the leader,the same way people treated him at that moment? Essentially proving people who always said that his magic was scary and terryfying right?? Haha
