Suwannee Snapping Turtle (Macrochelys suwanniensis), family Chelydridae, endemic to the Suwannee River Basin of northern FL and southern GA in the SE United States.
ENDANGERED.
A species closely related to the Alligator Snapping Turtle (both in the genus Macrochelys).
Florida is home to several species and subspecies of cooters: the river cooter, Florida cooter, Florida red-bellied cooter and Suwannee cooter. I took this photo in the Everglades. I really like the vivid markings of yellow and orange.

Over the years I’ve seen a lot of really cool things on the boat. Yesterday, we were in the ocean and this leatherback sea turtle swam by. Of all the things- this is the best one. What an amazing moment to experience.
