Mainly a Ratchet Character Study but also: Parallel between the Ineffable Husbands and Transformers Dratchet (mostly IDW)
Obligatory Spoiler Warning: just don't read unless you've finished or heard about the last 15 mins of Good Omens S2E6 bc the spoilers (yes, the same moment you keep seeing everywhere) are there but honestly it's not descriptive enough imho.

Ratchet Character Study
The end of Good Omens S2E6 reminded me of Ratchet and Drift/Deadlock from Transformers for some reason. I think it's bc I've accepted the fanon idea (a lot of what's below is fanon/HCs, some canon to it though, but reader discretion and all that) of Deadlock likely offering Ratchet the chance to run away during the war (perhaps after realizing Megatron was starting to lose it and the Con cause was not the same one he initially fought for/corruption, conquering, domination, lunacy, etc.) with the promise of *them* and security with Ratchet no longer having to deal with the stresses that being the Autobot CMO carried and the damage that no doubt did to Ratchet's psyche and over-well being over the millennia. Esp. since Ratchet was so idealistic and bright before the war, and while still opinionated and fierce, was a youthful "party animal" with plenty of optimism, determined to do anything he could to see his hopes of a peaceful Cybertronian society through.
All Ratchet seems to want is the best for his planet, the best for other mecha, hence why I've always believed that Ratchet is a "people person" (further backed up by his past as the "party ambulance" ;D). He just has all his walls up 24/7 (sarcasm/sardonicism, gruffness, anger, etc.) to protect this soft, emotional part of himself, similar to how he keeps his walls up so that he can compartmentalize and perform his job efficiently as CMO even when surrounded by tragedy. He's a "people person" with a job that revolves around death. That shit definitely took a toll, but I don't believe it ever broke him necessarily. And Drift/Deadlock, so afraid of the war actually breaking Ratchet, wanted to do everything in his power to protect him from the war. The possibility of Deadlock presenting this offer, to me, sounds absolutely plausible.
When offered the chance to "run away", of course Ratchet declines, stating he knows his place and that is wherever he can decidedly do the most good and help the most mecha. Even though he'd love nothing more than to be free from the pressure and, most importantly, be with Drift/Deadlock instead of sneaking around throughout the war and having their relationship be so ethically complex. Ratchet understanding why Drift did what he did in becoming a 'Con and everything else, understanding that even though Deadlock went against Ratchet's code of morals, Deadlock was inevitable given Drift's beginnings in the Dead End. Hence why later in LL Ratchet seems to "blame himself" for how Drift became Deadlock, because Ratchet may believe that he should've "saved" or "fixed" Drift.
Then again, Ratchet knows the complexity of that, knows that it isn't "that simple" and that converting/ensuring Drift as an Autobot wasn't much better than having Drift become a Decepticon because, realistically, Autobots were doing things nearly just as bad. Of course, as the war went on it became clear that Megatron was going off the deep end and the Autobots truly did become the "Good Guys", if one could even call it that. Really, they were the lesser of two evils, or the arch-nemesis of the Decepticons that put a stop to their wrong-doings, but regardless, the Autobots themselves were far from innocent. Esp. from other civilizations/planets' perspectives.
When the Decepticons began, it was mainly in an effort to change Cybertronian society for the better, to gain equality for all Cybertronian mecha and get rid of the corrupt government and caste system, and I believe Ratchet (esp. seeing the corruption from the medical malpractice POV) low-key sided with them when this was their original goal. Drift/Deadlock is what makes Ratchet truly acknowledge this millennia after the war (either during the LL which it is hinted at or sometime before then during the war they may have had disagreements about this), but he'd known it deep down since the beginning.
Ratchet mostly went with the Autobots because of his own personal ties (friends like Orion Pax), his position in said hierarchy (he was the chief of medicine for descendants of the Prime and really, would Pit mecha really be accepting of the Senate's CMO in their ranks?), and as seen in the IDW comics, various other reasons.
In the end, Ratchet practically stumbled into becoming an Autobot. He really didn't want to be with any faction, but as an Autobot he believed he could do more good, esp. since he tended to end up helping both sides' soldiers anyways. Being an Autobot just meant he had access to better supplies/tech/etc.
I also personally believe Ratchet was too proud of a mech to admit this to Drift/Deadlock's face until the LL. Admitting that Ratchet was originally on the wrong side, helping the wrong side, this whole time would be a blow to his own mental, it would (and does) cripple him with guilt. Again, all of this is just my personal head cannons and fanon ideas that I've seen, but I like to imagine this is pretty generally accepted.
I feel like younger Ratchet is torn between sides. Having started clinics for the "lower class" mecha in areas like the Dead End, providing care free of charge to those who couldn't afford it as long as they promised to change themselves for the better, conveys to me that Ratchet was empathetic to the struggles of lower class mecha, despite starting off as a forged medic and becoming the Chief Medical Officer for the Senate. Yes, Ratchet started off and lived a comparatively privileged life, but he has never turned a blind eye to any other mech's struggles and does his best to understand it regardless. Ratchet's "golden spark" so-to-speak is something I believe Drift sees and cherishes, and thus it's what Deadlock wishes to protect. The Prime's doctor willingly decided to save the life of a drug addict grifter in the Dead-End and continued to see value in and, most importantly, care for Drift's life, even after Drift became Deadlock and turned to a life of killing mecha that Ratchet may have considered friends/allies/etc. I full-heartedly believe that Ratchet still looked after/patched up Deadlock even though he was with the 'Cons, esp. since I believe Deadlock kept watch after Ratchet even though he was with the 'Bots. Regardless of their conflicting morals, these two never stopped looking after and caring for one another.
I can see their "argument" or discussion over this proposal going so many ways, but ultimately, as with a certain Angel and Demon, Drift/Deadlock wanted them to become their own "side" and Ratchet, for a multitude of reasons (pride/empathy/guilt/loyalty/desire to help or "savior complex" depending how you see it/arrogance/etc.) decided to stick with the life he hates. He despises the war, the life-loss, the pain, the pointless-ness of it all (aren't they all Cybertronian in the end?), but Ratchet is an emotional mech deep-down and because of his complex feelings and morality, he turns down Deadlock's offer.
The Parallel:
As with a certain Angel, Ratchet can't just sit on the sidelines and do nothing, he has to help. As CMO and a close friend of Optimus, Ratchet is shown to have a lot of push/pull on Autobot command and their decisions and not always but often in various comics/shows/media, we see Ratchet propose the more compassionate and ethical, while still cruelly (realistically) logical, decisions.
Like Aziraphale, Ratchet believes that by being in a position of power/control/leadership and by being a determined son of a bitch, he can "save [their race/people/planet/universe/the balance/etc.]" for a lack of better terms. They put aside their own happiness/freedom/peace/etc., no matter the repercussions for them or those in their personal lives, to make the decisions and take the actions that they believe will do the universe, as a whole, the most good. That's really all they want.
Short Ver.
Aziraphale still believes that there can be good and that Heaven can be "fixed", and additionally, having Crowley back with him on Heaven's side would make *them* and everything else so much easier. Easier to protect Crowley, easier for Crowley to be happy because Aziraphale himself would also be safer, everything would be better if Aziraphale could "fix" things and the balance. Make Heaven "good" again and Hell "bad" once more, un-blur the lines, despite Crowley knowing it was never like that to begin with ("I think I understand a lot more than you do"). Additionally, all the trauma and manipulation that Aziraphale has experienced in Heaven no doubt plays a role in all of this.
Aziraphale only wants to do the right thing, but his headspace and how he decides to go about it are just so seriously warped by both himself and from his experiences of being an Archangel of Heaven.
Ratchet just wants the war to end. For the fighting to stop and there to be some peace. He still believes, despite everything he's witnessed and been through, that the war can end. He continues to hope. Ratchet, despite how gruff and jagged his exterior may become, no matter how cynical and pessimistic he acts, still has a spark of gold deep down. He still wants to do good and he believes that there can be good again, even though Deadlock knows that there was never any good to begin with. Why save Cybertronian society and the way things used to be if they were never any good before? Moreso, why save Cybertronians when they were never any good before? Shit's always been fucked up and messy, where does this bleeding hearted CMO get off in trying to save all of them?
He gets off nowhere but he's still going to try regardless because it's worth it. Cybertron, Cybertronians, mecha, are still worth saving. If Ratchet is anything, it is stubborn and after everything he's been through, he'll be damned if he gave up now.
Side Note: I still believe there was a miracle in Aziraphale's coffee ;) but in case there's not take this comparison I randomly drew from the S2 finale <3

For the character thing: Swerve
First impression: I thought he was a little weird, but that can describe pretty much anyone on the Lost Light. He was a funny little guy
Impression now: Still a funny little guy! But there's a lot more to him than that. You could say more than meets the eye. I can even relate to him a little bit.
Favorite moment: I liked when everyone found him on the sit-com Earth he created and he opened up a bit. A close second is during Dark Cybertron (I think???) when Optimus shows up and Swerve tells him that he turned his distress signal into a ring tone.
Idea for a story: It would take place after canon. Swerve still has one bar open, so I like to imagine that he throws together a little reunion with the Lost Light crew. It's not quite the same since they're missing some people (Ratchet, Skids, Rung, etc.) but they're all together. They laugh, they cry, and it becomes an annual thing.
Unpopular opinion: I don't think I have one of those
Favorite relationship: Not entirely sure! I'm rereading MTMTE right now to brush up on the story since I forgot some of it. I really like the Swerve and Skids friendship
Favorite headcanon: I don't think I have one of these either. I don't make headcanons a lot but I should because they're fun

Putting some random thoughts together so here’s IDW 2 finale spoilers:
First of all I've become kinda meh on this book? I like a lot of the ideas it had but the execution didn't always do it for me.
Anyway:
• The art absolutely SLAPS for the most part holy crap i love Milne’s fight scenes.
• Megatron and Optimus’ finally fight! It was… Hmm.
• I guess we never found out what happened with Sunstorm or the enigma? Also the Combaticons are in prison but hopefully on Cybertron and not on those Autobot ships that went to the moon. That would be awkward…
• Skywarp gets put back in time out. Lol. Go Jumpstream.
• They all leave to go on the winged moon but idk how Megatron wouldn’t find them eventually since it doesn’t seem that far.
• The last two pages… Ugh. I guess Blast-Off forgot he was a terrorist and his ”boyfriend” doesn’t even know? I say that in quotes because honestly nothing about this relationship felt romantic at all unfortunately.
• I guess they’re ending on an “it never ends” type of cliffhanger… I’m not sure how i feel about that but it couldn't really end differently imo.

(specifically the onryo borne from the murdered Yoshi Hamato and Tang Shen [because oroku saki a bitch])
[ redacted ] and Tang Shen’s ghost gained control and guided Splinter to raise the boys in love and not [ redacted ] to [ redacted ] in [ redacted ]
Splinter was just a regular little rat... who on his 1000th birthday witnessed the death of his friend/unwitting master and his wife, and thus transformed into a wrathful kyūso (minus the kitten eating) and chased Shredder until losing his trail in New York
Shredder’s fuck around and Splinter’s rampaging as the find out caused the tengu to repo some of the mysticism from ninjutsu
now all the (remaining) ninja clans debuffed and mad about it
The tengu bestowed the ninja the ability to summon shit (kuchiyose), enact mystical effects upon people and objects (kuji kiri), going invisible, minor flight (actually just qinggong/light body technique), and manipulation of the 5 elements, and creating doubles (bunshin)
but again, Shredder fucked up so now ninja can like barely control anything bigger than a lit torch or a 16 oz bottle of liquid and that’s if you got in enough hours to do even that
I mentioned elsewhere but for me in any AU I make, Venus is a cultivator and the more I think about it the more I will die on this hill, not only does it fit better than her being a “shaman” or “shinobi” it’s sick as fuck
Jennika’s origin was pretty fkkn metal, she still falls in with the Foot, gets shanked, Leo gives blood-- bam, turtle time
Jennika goes to hang with Venus in China and get a better understanding of her new turtle body
Keno’s here, still tried to infiltrate the Foot (with Jennika) but bugged out when she couldn’t stay without being made (Jennika refused to leave womp)
teaches Leo some arnis techniques for Leo’s dual wielding; Donnie also just in case his bo is shattered... again. :)
Irma has made all the boys blush at least twice
Irma is also soap opera buddies with Splinter
they meet up at least twice a month to gab, gush, and groan over what’s currently going on in their stories, when Venus visits she also joins in, Irma also has a conversational grasp on Japanese and Venus’ regional dialect because of these visits
April has a full out shoujo manga romance with Chu Hsi
and he’s a hot dragon prince uhuhuhuhuhu

Venus is brought to NYC for this antagonist instead of Dragonlord escaping (and murdering her father figure forcing her to seek out his friend Splinter for aid)
Donnie doesn’t take the news of real vampires or real magic well
Donnie and Venus have a knock down drag out fight over it (because they’re 17 at this point and being li’l shits to each other about their respective fields of expertise)
“The nerds are fightingggggg!” cries Mikey, Leo and Raph don’t believe it so imagine their surprise when they get a demo in real time on how scary competent staff fighters are
Leo gets Splinter when one of Donnie’s missed strikes cracks the concrete
Splinter breaks them up like talking a walk in the park and it’d be comical if they both weren’t bleeding from the mouth and peppered with swelling contusions
Venus begins accepting Donnie when his tech prevents her from becoming a thrall of Vam-Mi
Donnie begins accepting Venus when she uses a massive amount of chi to manipulate gravity just before he becomes street pizza when Vam-Mi throws him off a bridge
they also combine skill sets to save Mikey so there’s that
Venus goes from calling Donnie, “Horatio (derogatory)” to “Horatio (affectionate)”
they now have a dumbass long-as-fuck handshake that’s unforgivably nerdy 
April is still a magic drawing-brought-to-life baby, Venus puts her in a painted scroll when she starts phasing in and out of existence (she and Chu Hsi have a great time in the scroll... while everyone is shitting bricks until Venus and her sect stabilize her and get her made real, Pinocchio style)
April’s grandmothers gifted Venus 2 pieces of jade jewelry, and her family’s recipe for sweet potato pudding respectively for saving April
the boss fight against Dragonlord is dope as fuckkkkk, Chu Hsi is being cool as fuck, fiddled with some concepts* that has Leo and Karai being a champion of Genbu, Raph for Byakko, Mikey for Suzaku, Chu Hsi’s retainer (a good dragon, wink wonk) steps in for Seiryu because Donnie and Venus are siphoning and redirecting an enormous amount and variety of mystical power
*i’m just pulling from fushigi yugi honestly
splinter, the boys, and venus (and others) mutating from mutagen laced toxic waste was a pure accident
Splinter was investigating a lead on Shredder’s movements concerning the Foot the same night an animal liberation sleeper cell ‘freed’ some animals from the back of a pet store (that was a front for black market domestic and exotic animal trafficking) that is also the same night a stolen truck driven by some corporate spies filled with a competitor’s chemical waste, which then collides with said liberation sleeper cell’s truck and... ooze happens
Leatherhead, the Mutanimals, Mondo, Mona Lisa, Slash also get mutated from the events of that night, either leading up to or following the aftermath
plus some others etc etc
Venus still washes down the gutter, gets rube goldberg pinballed onto a crate of plums where Chung I finds her and still gets named Mei and taken to live in China and eventually learns to cultivate
Tokka and Rahzar get made, and unmade ala TMNT II; the mutagen made them a little silly tho, April adopts Rahzar and passes him off as a low content wolfdog, Leatherhead takes in Tokka
April went through a couple of major changes so now she’s a journalist with a computer programming background who now does a podcast as an informal neighborhood news reporter with a segment for chatting with people from around the street
Mikey’s the most frequent guest and co-hosts sometimes; Donnie troubleshoots free of charge
Venus brings her province’s regional delicacies when she comes to visit, Splinter and Leo both get pu er tea cakes (she managed to get one the same age as him; Splinter is too old so she got the oldest she could find, Leo has so many tea pets and a nice yixing collection); Raph, Keno, and Casey fight over the pickles, meat jerkies, and chili oil; Mikey has an artillery of cool shirts and a lifetime supply of haw flakes, Donnie has a mountain of doodads with increasingly specific uses, April gets neat accessories and the occasional care package sent with Venus from her grandparents, uncles, and aunties; Irma gets neat frames and coats that never fail to get a “Where did you get that??”
Raph rides a Kawasaki Ninja because it’s funny
A lot of bodegas give Mikey free snacks because the bodega cats love him, and he’s also saved some from being run over or ripped apart by stray dogs or the few large angry raccoons
Donnie’s the only one of his brothers to wear both a top and bottom with shoes because once he figured out how to integrate a motherboard and miscellany wiring onto clothing... he’s been a walking computing menace ever since
Splinter does his best to enjoy his time with his sons (because as a kyūso, he knows the chances of outliving his precious sons is very high (ᴗ‿ᴗ✿)  ...give or take one of the many opponents and obstacles his sons take on takes him out first ( ◕ᴗ◕✿ ) )

New York Comic Con 2023 and the Energon Universe panel is in the books
And while the room wasn't COMPLETELY full, there was a big crowd for said Energon Universe panel. Daniel Warren Johnson, Robert Kirkman, Joshua Williamson, and others came to the panel to announce that their plan involved making all these disparate parts work together as a series, including Void Rivals, which Kirkman specifically said was aiming to feel like it could have been a sister line with the Joes and Transformers (and considering Hasbro owns the property, probably means if it is successful they'll get toys of their own).
Some highlights and spoilers -
Daniel Warren Johnson knows people are upset at Bumblebee dying and frankly, does not care. "I feed on your tears", was his quote, which got a big laugh. Specifically, he didn't want to draw Bumblebee, hence his death in Issue 1, a death that he and Kirkman have confirmed will stick and Hasbro was totally cool with. With Bee dead, the panel concluded that there's more freedom to work with other characters and a lot more tension about who will live and who will die, since plot armor due to Hasbro demands is not a thing in the Energon Universe.
There was a big focus on GI Joe and how it will connect with the Transformers since the idea is that the Transformers' appearance causes the world to shift in a major way. The Duke miniseries will focus on how a traumatized Duke deals with the fallout of his fight with Starscream in the upcoming Transformers #2, and how Joe is founded specifically to combat them. Rebranding the Joes as an anti-alien strike force/international crisis team also seems to be a way to deal with getting away from the "jingoistic army toys" stigma that hasn't played as well since the Reagan years (even if most Joe fiction like Larry Hama's comics condemn blind jingoism). Interestingly, the initial lineup includes the Baroness, who's traditionally a high-ranking Cobra member and romantically entangled with Destro.

3. Cobra meanwhile is shown to be what is specifically described as a horror comic about Cobra Commander using the discovery of the Cybertronians to fuel his plans for world domination, and how Cobra Commander brings together a lot of disparate elements that otherwise would never have worked together to join his quest for world domination. More fuel is thrown on the "Cobra Commander's Luger is actually Megatron" fire, but of course, nothing is confirmed.

Another surprise for the initial lineup is the big guy in the back is Mercer, a character introduced in the GI Joe movie as an ex-Cobra officer who had "seen the light". Whether he does this time is another matter.
4. Back to the Transformers. The running idea (besides a minor but notable undercurrent of "Screw IDW") was that this is using the cartoons as gospel rather than the comics, but it will eventually expand beyond that initial concept using other characters. Specifically, during a quick Q&A at the end, someone asked about the Japanese characters, and Kirkman said while he had no immediate plans for them, he was actually a big fan of Star Saber, while Johnson mentioned liking the Japanese openings. A far cry from IDW making them all villains and losers.
5. Johnson is a big fan of wrestling. Kirkman, not so much. This led to some funny banter on stage about Johnson's tendency to fill fight scenes from the initial script (which will often just say "Character A and Character B fight") with wrestling moves like Optimus Prime introducing himself to Starscream with a Rainmaker Lariat before giving him a German Suplex. Despite Kirkman not being a fan, everyone on stage and the crowd seemed to agree that it gave the fight scenes a dynamic look that is new to the Transformers.
6. Void Rivals has not been forgotten in all this. While after Issue #6 it will be taking a five-month break, the series will continue to serve as the backbone of what's going out outside of Earth.

Including the teased appearance of the Quintesson Judge. Kirkman also promised more backstory, like possibly getting to see the Skuxxoid's family and other species that are part of the cartoon lore as part of his efforts to build out the universe while still making Void Rivals its own thing that is engaging without the other series.
7 The main goal of everyone is that while all the various series are part of a big story that is the Energon Universe, the reader can read just one and get a full experience. That being said, it's clear that the ultimate goal is for them all to work together.
And those are the highlights of the panel. Fun times are ahead if you're a Transformers fan, and after years of mismanagement and neglect, it sounds like the GI Joe-related stuff will be very interesting to see. Still, the focus right now is the comics, so my pie-in-the-sky theory about this being a dry run for a big animated show in the vein of Invincible will have to wait for another year.

Months Later, Earthspark...
So... we didn't forget about Earthspark.
How could we? We've said we think it's the overall best Transformers show so far in 2023 CE, we were very excited at how it tackled how gender and alt-mode can relate to each other (except the Jawbreaker episode was a disappointment what with how masculinity problems were basically substituted for dinosaurs and mixed up with what should have been a PTSD narrative for Grimlock separate from Jawbreaker's aesthetic journey, and on the subject of rage that came here you would sure think the warrior teacher gal Robbie's asks if she'd show her "beserker rage" would have had some advise), the prison abolition stuff is cool, Arcee was fantastic and so very clearly drawing on her IDW iterations to the point we were hoping she'd talk about gender stuff onscreen and it would unfortunately seem that is not likely to happen... So we were enthused, but also frustrated, with how the Terran and Cybertronian aspects of life are almost always only seen through the lens of anatomy, vague history, or the oppression they go through under an ICE allegory, and qualms that have been touched on how the Terrans are basically raised without connection or celebration of transformer societal practices along with false equivalencies of the Transformers to human immigrants to the USA and uh well... ...there were some things that squicked us about some of the threats the characters faced that reminded us of childhood traumas from media and socialization growing up and we don't feel like getting into it directly too much.
We wanted to write something that honored the parts we liked while navigating how we think the bots in-universe would feel about the stuff the show didn't cover or the traumas they were put through, and how they may have tackled that offscreen, if only because we feel the deep want to. So... several months ago, after writing part of the first chapter but not being in the emotional headspace to actually finish it what with other things in life going on, we got back to it in November:
All Souls' Reforging is Neverending, which you can read on Ao3, here's the summary:
After the events of Season 1 Episode 19 "A Stygi Situation", Grimlock and Jawbreaker are in the forest when Grim gets a call from his close friend and old revolutionary war pal, Arcee, who's checking on him and offering to hang out beyond the notice of GHOST to help with his healing process, as Grimlock had done for her twice in the past. Grimlock happily agrees, and Jawbreaker goes along as well. In the Autobot's hideaway, Arcee and Grimlock detail to Jawbreaker some of the depths of peaceful transformer history and society that overlap and differ from humanity, the hierarchy that disrupted that legacy, and the Autobot rise after. Arcee also gives him some tools to embrace his strength to be gentle. As a neurodiverse trans system with some gal gender stuff & a second generation immigrant background who navigated anger and rage and pain over otherness and alienation, it was a bit saddening to see how awkward the guy-gal dynamic was in "A Stygi Situation" and that Arcee wasn't present with her own insight on rage as a tool with reason and ethos. So we wrote this, Chapter 2 and 3 will be about Arcee, Nova Storm, & Skywarp navigating traumas from episodes after, and how they seek closure.

Nova Storm and Skywarp have been through a lot. Veterans of the war against Functionism, they fell from the ethos of solidarity then by helping fight for the Decepticon Empire. In the aftermath of that war, they ended up on the run from GHOST on an unfriendly world, had to turn to the cruel and hateful Dr. Mandroid for sustenance and vengeance, endured imprisonment, faced off against the terrifying and repulsively invasive Dweller of the Depths, and finally became part of the reckoning that brings down GHOST. Trauma hits differently for everyone, and for Nova Storm, her encounter with the Dweller has left her unable to enjoy embraces and kisses from her partner Skywarp, and she still struggles with anger and sadness over how helpless she felt. So, when the dust settles after the Season 1 finale, Nova Storm turns for help from one of her old combat unit friends among the Autobots, Arcee… and she and Skywarp realize almost immediately that the violation of autonomy by mind control that Arcee experienced from GHOST likely left her in need of help as well, so mutual healing and reconciliation is sought… along with resolve to make joy and mourn for all that has come to pass.
So uh, yeah, this chapter also deals with how icky the Dweller in the Depths episode was (particularly but certainly not limited to the way the Dweller held Nova Storm reminded us of sexual(ized) violence. to be honest) in a way that we think the characters might in retrospect.

So more thoughts trying to stop from spam posting( spoilers)

I saw someone point out the factor that Megatron originally was having all this character development basically and that it just got thrown at the window with Starscream but I think there's somewhat
this is highly my opinion don't take it into full consideration but I remember when the first few episodes at the beginning of the Season where Megatron was giving Bumblebee advice very old advice on how to help Terrence and
get them to listen to him and you can see that he wasn't fully out of his old ways like he's still trying to change and it's kind of hard to do so and mind you they were in a 4 million year war and they've been out of it for like almost a few decades and time works differently for the Transformers compared to how time works for humans
but in my opinion, it makes sense for him to immediately attack Starscream and the way he described him to Optimus and everyone else that Starscream is a threat
And they're right start scream is a threat he is intelligent but it's the thing of his ego getting in the way of all that and trying back when they had a war was always to overthrow Megatron and make everyone under his rule instead of Megatron
Like everyone that had a bit and trait that they had during the war still on in their lives that they're trying trying to overcome them basically and a lot of them is topped on with new PTSD new triggers new a lot of things that make them reignite that they're not changed like they're trying to back away from that but they're not that level yet
So it makes sense for him to immediately in my opinion attack Starscream because you can see Starscream is still and willing to leave people behind to save his own skid plates
And basically in the first few episodes he still has those traits of being the warlord in Tyrant that Megatron is known for literally during the training course episode he went and on about talking how he would show his dominance basically he literally has a move called the turbo twister while he was on the call with Bumblebee and even bumblebee got immediately terrified and Megatron is doing this all with the grin on his face that you see in the picture on the top of this post
, and in the IDW comics he was on the Lost lights for a year almost 2 years and he was still having all those traits of being the warlord Tyrant like it was a cycle he couldn't get out of and it took 800 years over 800 years mind you for him to somewhat straighten up and not show that many traits as he once had before
So it makes sense in my opinion that he would immediately text Starscream the way he did and it makes sense to another point where he stopped immediately when hashtag told him to do so
I'm not going to try to say that Starscream was always the bad guy but he was always a bit antagonizing in the beginning but aggressively got worse along with his need to get rid of Megatron because of Megatron putting an impressing all that abuse into him over time
Another factor I would like to point out is Megatron was a gladiator Way Before the War I don't know if it was the same in this iteration cuz we have yet to actually be filled in on all the origin points of this story for spark but and the IDW version and it almost every other version he was part of the lower class Society of Cybertron which was the worst place to be they were very suppressed and didn't have the necessary resources to go on and most of them will be doing the dirty work for the lowest amount of pay and insurance of resources
But in the IDW version of specifically you actually do get a more inside story for megatrons pass and why he's kind of like the way he is his actions are not excusable but there are understandable why he did so but in the IDW version he was a minor where they were treated like absolute garbage and the worst conditions ever and they were living around unmarked Graves and also being taken away from their jobs at that point and not being compensated for their work or everything
Even with most of these reasons if you want the full story I highly recommend you go watch a few Megatron IDW videos cuz it will fill you in more than I can at the moment
,, it was basically an endless cycle of people and stealing abuse and neglect into others making them worser of why they are and why they act the Pacific way they do cuz you got to keep in mind of the two main questions" why are they acting like this" and "what caused this"
I may have got a little point in my bad but basically what I'm saying is that they didn't write throw it out the window they may have seem like they thrown out all Megatron's character development and just one fail swoop but in my opinion they did not they kept in character with him that he just got out of 4 million war and he's been in a strict routine and it's kind of hard to break out of it even within a few Decades of years
And again he stopped immediately after hashtag told him to do so like he didn't push her out of the way he didn't yell at her he didn't do any of that yes he may have immediately went to go attack Starscream because star screams a threat but also cuz it was such a routine for him to do so.
In the end, you can also see in the episode of the dweller he did manage to have somewhat of a decent conversation with Starscream and it was nothing hard she was just trying to reach out to Starscream there was no more fighting until the finale episode where started screen was protecting twitch and Megatron was being mind controlled but
they still managed to keep in tune with his actual character in the episode of dweller in my opinion of the fact that he is trying to change and he is on somewhat a decent path to his newer self
(But don't take this all into consideration this is generally my opinion and I'm sorry if it's really long and I might be spam posting for a while I just can't help it after those amazing episodes that I was just watched and I was right I was not emotionally prepared and I am highly apologetic for any grammar's errors and misspell and thank you for listening or reading my ramble))):)

Okay, so part 2 of season one of Transformers Earthspark dropped and dang this version of Megatron. Like, living up to the version the comics crafted and inspired this is a lot and this knocks it out of the park. The writing and facial animation on him are great, and Rory McCann is just killing it here.
Like, when reading IDW phase 2 I tended to hear Cory Burton’s Animated Megatron in my head, but this is just the perfect rendition of that character.
Some spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched yet.
One thing I love is that instead of having killed his species through war, he burdens himself with having potentially done it while trying to save his home by returning the Allspark. He’s a Cybertronian patriot that may have killed his world, and may never learn if he did.
And I wonder if he fears learning the answer would be worse.
This series took an already complex characterization and managed to add another layer on it. Kudos.

EarthSpark Season 1 Finale Retrospective (from someone who hasn't seen every single TF show)
(I'm not too sure how to format text posts but whatever)
Spoilers for Transformers Earthspark (obviously lol)
I finally had enough time to finish season 1 of Earthspark, and though I loved the finale, there were just a few things I think it could've improved on.
1. The ending was too easily solved, we had that HUGE buildup of the machine that could kill anything with energon in its body, then it's just reversed 2 minutes later? The finale would have generated so much hype and appreciation for the second season if it ended on a cliffhanger.
2. A few of the plot devices didn't make very much sense if you REALLY think about it. For example, once the Autobots arrive at the Malto's home to save them from ghost, why didn't they take off their ghost badges? They clearly do not associate with ghost anymore, why were they still wearing the badges? And even after that, when the Terrans and Bee defeat a mind controlled Elita and OP, why didn't they remove their badges? They saw that the badges are what caused them to power down at first, and it's safe to assume that once Elita and OP awoke from the Terrans defeating them, they'd still be under mind control. (Unless this was specified in the show and I just missed that)
3. This is minor, but where did the cassettes go? Surely Soundwave would've freed them, right? Also where is Tarantulas?
4. When Twitch and Thrash were on the tower fighting Mandroid, they knew that the cybersleeves were powering the energon machine thingy, why didn't Thrash just free the Maltos while Twitch distracted Mandroid? (Unless that's what he was trying to do originally, I may have missed/forgotten that)
Though I do have complaints, the finale had so much good in it
1. I love how Twitch and Nightshade were the main two Terrans, their personalities work so well together.
2. The camerawork and animation is amazing, the blend of 3d and 2d works so well in the finale and it looks phenomenal.
3. The reference to the hanger fight from previous episodes when Twitch propelled herself with her cannon was perfect, I love that she picked that up from Megs.
4. Overall it was an amazing finale, and though I still do prefer Cyberverse and TFP to Earthspark, the second season could steal my heart.
Speaking of season, here's a few things I'd love to see in the 2nd season of Earthspark (Obviously not every single one, that'd be a bit too cluttered for a single season)
1. More characters who (in canon) who changed sides (during the war) such as Jetfire and Drift, I'd love to see the dynamics of a reformed character showing their perspective on the past.
2. Add the DJD, they would be perfect for Earthspark, since in IDW, they hunt down Megs for changing sides, they'd be perfect since Earthspark Megs changed sides. I just want to see Earthspark Megatron be held responsible for his actions during the war, and would love to see Megs explain more of his previous ideals and tactics.
3. Give us more time to address the stuff that happened in the war, since we've seen people talk about it, but we need to SEE it, with characters like Starscream addressing the insane shit that happened within the cons ranks. (Similar to my previous thought, lol)
4. More classic characters being MAIN main characters, like give us more Arcee or Wheeljack. (This could be fixed with spotlight episodes)
5. More character spotlight episodes, we need to explore individual characters, especially the now freed Decepticons. I'd love a Shockwave, Soundwave, or even Skywarp spotlight episode. (Also where did the cassettes go? They should've been freed during the finale)
6. Possibly introduce Quintessons since this show loves Quintus Prime so much, and if they don't do that, introduce some of the other Primes.
7. Because of how progressive the series is with its representation, introduce Knock-Out, finally canonize Breakdown and Knock-Out's relationship in a show (I know it's canon in IDW), instead of just implying it like in TFP.
8. Have the second season focus on developing characters and introducing new ones, have the second season be a set-up for the third, and build up the antagonist through pre-existing characters. For example, using my Tarn/DJD suggestion, have an episode where Megatron reveals the DJD has found his location, and have him explain what the DJD is, and why this is an issue. Or with my Quintesson suggestion, have Quintus Prime give the children a vision of the Quintessons and warn them about their approach, then have the children ask what the Quintessons are.
9. This show could introduce Unicron, but honestly, a plot following the effects of the war would be better, though a Unicron plot is always welcomed.
10. Expand the Terrans more, they all share the same enthusiasm, and just feel a little too similar. I'd love to see Twitch become more pessimistic after all the insane stuff that happened in the finale, show her being affected after nearly being killed, watching her family "die", and having to mature so quickly, show Twitch being weary around Megs after nearly being killed by him under mind control.

I watched some episodes of Earthspark and I can see why people like it and why people hate it. It's very much "You have to be open minded". My opinion on the show is that I don't care for it, I like some parts of episodes but not all the parts, I like the character designs of the bots (I don't care for human characters in transformers). It's not a bad show, but it is a show.
I like that creators are exploring the autobot Megatron angle more, I love TFP Megatron but I genuinely enjoyed IDW Megs as well. Soundwave is beautiful as always, he probably has a team dedicated solely to designing him, I can't wait to see Tarantulas because imho you know a show is trying to push limits when they have; Overlord, Tarantulas, Tarn, or Unicron, I feel like if you see any of these bots then you know shit is probably gonna get at least 20% dark. I'll admit I skimmed through the people scenes but the ones with Dorothy and Megs those are fun scenes. In terms of the kids, I use Sari, Raf, Miko, and Jack because imho those are the least annoying kids in the franchise, I'm still reserving judgement.
This is just a post talking about parts I liked or thought was decent. So far I think it's a decent show for season 1 and season 2
Episode 1/2: Idky Optimus with decepticons knowing how stubborn they are lmao*. I'm not fond of Elita-1 but she seems okay in this one, the IDW comics kinda soiled my view on her. I like that the parents are actually acting like parents, the youngest kid is actually the sound one. The scene of Mo and Robby arguing was actually well done; Robby wanted to go back to his old home and Mo hit him with the "Am I not worth staying for". I wanna see the budget for this series. I still kinda don't get the whole Terran thing but I like the idea of it and that cybertronians is long established thing already because constantly hearing the earth war thing is exhausting. That robin alone was probably half the budget, it was high quality for no reason. The sudden switch to G1 was actually unexpected but welcomed. "Be an OPTIMIST prime, not a NEGAtron" I'm gonna tattoo that on my face. Optimus lips.
I like that Megatron is his double propeller helicopter form like Animated, I low-key find it funny how Dot reacts to Optimus vs how she reacts to Megatron.
* I feel like if you have high ranking officers like Starscream and Soundwave still being active members of the decepticons, you shouldn't expect the other decepticons to surrender at all, decepticons aren't loyal to Megatron himself.
Episode 3: I like that Bee has an attitude in this ngl, mans is just tired. Love that Bee asked Megs for advice 10/10 good idea, Cows are cute. I like the idea that despite being technically cybertronian earthlings, Twitch and Thrash not knowing how to transform by their own will is a good plot line imho and I like that it's Bee trying to teach them; He's always been the student now he has to be the teacher to beings who aren't even full fledge cybertronians. Bee is clearly still in war mode and can come off as a prick, it's refreshing tbh kinda tired of seeing happy go lucky and silly Bee, he doesn't understand how being a leader in even a small task works, it's nice to see Dot put her experience as both a mother and ally to work and comfort Bee. The cows facing impending doom by the train was kinda dark lmao especially with fluffy ears like bruh. Stan Fluffy ears. The episode reminds me of Ultra Magnus in Transformers Prime.
Episode 4: Twitch and Thrash crashing into the kitchen was Lowkey peak comedy. The dad is kinda annoying but then again I'm not fond of any overly optimistic character in any media. Swindle T-boning the truck startled me ngl, I'm also very fond of transformers doing human things with glee, this show would be perfect for Thundercracker. Swindle being a deceitful prince (cause Screamer is the king) is iconic. I love Swindles voice, I think the casting director did a fantastic job at finding the voices for the characters.
I like that Swindle was doing things with Mo and Thrash to really gain their trust, shows that he can be good but he chooses to be a dick lmao. Wasn't fond of Swindle in other media and it caused me to ignore him in IDW but in Earthspark he seems really well done. I like the relationship dynamics between all of the characters so far. I like the use of 2D animation for the smoke.
Episode 5: Thrash with the stapler was a big ass mood I like doing that with staples. Why Schloder look like a ken doll. I still don't like that Optimus got cheek bones to high heavens. This episode was kinda meh ngl. Nothing to talk about.
Episode 6: Please god let Optimus keep his face plate on his cheek bones and luscious lips are distracting. Another kinda meh episode but Look there's Wheeljack yeehaw feller. It's nice to see the dad do something to actually help.
Episode 7: kinda nice to see the school life, but like....Mo seems kinda young to be there. The episodes are getting meh. I like the idea of Thrash and Twitch losing control of themselves but they ended it waaayyy to quickly, that could have been an easy two episode plotline.
Episode 8: King shit, Ravage, Laserbeak, Frenzy, and baby girl Soundwave. Babe they did you so dirty in RiD they made you look so weak, Earthspark did you justice, only Kings can throw Optimus and Megatron without effort we love that for you, you deserve praise and love bbg. Look at Starscream he's the only one that should have cheek bones. Oh hi Arcee, nice to see her retain her "one of the boys" characterization. Anyway, Soundwaves waist line.
I like that in all incarnations, Soundwave is feared by EVERYONE. I appreciate the decision to keep Soundwaves alt mode a flyer. I like Arcees alt mode too, very fond of vintage cars. The idea that they think they could contain Soundwave is kinda.... confusing, they fully know what he's capable of and they lock him up like everyone else, one would think to put him in stasis or something.
Episode 9/10: The both wikis says there's more episodes than this but I can't actually find any information otherwise than the titles. ANYWAY LOOK AT GOTH BOT SKYWARP, kinda forgot Nova storm was a character lmao. How does no one in this show have PTSD fr. Aside from the evil doctor stuff the episode was okay, Tarantulas would treat his spider bots better.
Mid type edit: I found episodes "11-17" (it's just season 2 let's be real) Germans coming in clutch.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Episode 11: So humans are containing the cons? I believe that years of experience made them good at containing bots but I don't believe they can so easily contain the likes of Scream and Sounds, bots that are known to escape pretty much anything. I'm liking the new bots so far, Thrash is my favorite one of the terrans so far, his comedic timing is beautiful. The whole hashtag trend thing is not my favorite thing in any media but, it's whatever. "The whole system is malfunctioning" I can see where this is going...
The GHOST soldier uniforms looks sick ngl, it's edgy but in a "practical" way (the eye bots are too small).

Lol yeah this definitely won't cause a jailbreak.

Episode 12: so....I'm guessing Hashtag is gonna be the Thundercracker of earth spark. Episode so far seems like a chill episode. Megatron is giving wet cat vibes. Honestly just kinda skipped half of it because... there's nothing really special about the episode, it's focused on Jawbreaker, so you don't really get much with episodes focused on one character.
Episode 13: TARANTULAS MY BELOVED, this seems like another character focused episode so far. Bri'ish Tarantulas (mid edit apparently he's Australian), I love that for him. I love Tarantulas, I love this for him. Nightshade so far seems cool, I feel like Tarantulas isn't actually being....chill, Tarantulas was always 2 steps ahead I feel like he's up to something. I want him to yell at me but like not in a lustful way, in a "I really think you're neat" way. This is just gonna be me kissing his ass ngl. I'm gonna punch tarantulas (affectionate). MONTAGE TIME. TARANTULAS HAS SCOLIOSIS SCOLIOSIS GANG REPRESENT!!!!
I knew it, Tarantulas being a deceitful lil shit as always 💅 love that he rarely uses his robot mode legs.

WOOOO LETS GO ROBOT OWL, I kinda refused to believe that someone more experienced in fighting would lose but....plot. I wish Nightshade had more kibble considering ya know....owl.
I like this new Tarantulas, I like how everyone has changed years after the war.
Episode 14: Meh episode so far, Bee seems to be going back to his racing roots to find someone. Breakdown please stop getting caught by humans. At least this one knows how to dodge. It's a nice episode towards the middle.
Episode 15: This episode is Dot focused, baby bear cute, her prosthetic legs shoots lasers now. Mama Bear came for her cub and is angry. Unrelated but I genuinely love Nightshade's design despite not having kibble. They look Owl-y.

Episode isn't very Kid friendly (positive). So what happened with the breakout they kinda just never touched on it again.
Episode 16: Flashback episode to right before Megs rebranded. The terrans and kids are reenacting it. Caused Megs to have a....moment. The Flowers. crying 😭. Shockwave titties💜 king shit. The whole episode is very much showing Megatron doing good in the end while he was still a con. Where's tarantulas I wanna see him again, Oh hi Shockwave. he took a hostage, I kinda like that the Cons aren't denouncing the decepticons but they're just kinda like doing their own thing. Overall I like this episode, It's Shockwave and Megatron focused which one would think that Megs would be in more episodes. But what the fuck is Shockwaves alt mode
Episode 17: Dog fighting episode except the dogs are cybertronians, Nightshade being batman/mothman. Some chick lured Thrash, Mo, and Jawbreaker like some weird black market trade. Robbys old friend is kind of a dick Lowkey. Very.... unusual episode but I'm not surprised that humans fight giant robots. Of course Laserbeak and Frenzy is there. Bee is undercover so him and Breaker pretend wrestle, evil science man seems to be behind it. Grimlock is a part of the fighting ring too. I feel like Grimlock (and to some extent Nightshade) could have had a better looking beast mode considering Tarantulas, Laserbeak and Frenzy also have good comedic timing. I wonder how Mama Soundwave would feel about his kids being a part of an underground fighting circle. Laserbeak looks so pettable.
Let Grimlock kill people.

This is probably gonna be a long episode. Yeah this is a long episode. Evil science guy isn't very happy, he seems bitter towards cybertronians and is hellbent on killing them. I miss Tarantulas.

Something tells me that city gonna hate cybertronians even more.

I'm sooo excited to finally be watching Earthspark! Rando observations ahead and SPOILERS for Episode 1 and Episode 2!
(Also, please don't give me spoilers for future episodes! Thank you! <3 )
My rando thoughts / observations:
It's funny how Dot is like "Nah Optimus, I'm not interested in G.H.O.S.T." and then when Megatron brings it up five seconds later she's like "Oh, YOU'RE in G.H.O.S.T., bestie? Let's goooo! :)"
Also funny how Megatron was like "Dot please don't be mean to Optimus, I love him now."
ALSO extremely funny how Megatron framed it as "Sure, Optimus and I have had our disagreements--". YOU FOUGHT A WAR. ON OPPOSITE SIDES. omg no wonder Soundwave is pissed, I can't wait for him to show up, I can't waaaaait--
Speaking of the war, I'm so curious about what caused it. Was it based in social inequity, like IDW? Did the Decepticons predate Megatron (which was the case in G1 when he was just the latest in a long line of 'Con leaders)? Maybe it will go back to the "some bots built for war, some built for the service industry" thing from G1? Megatron doesn't seem megalomaniacal, I have to believe that he had some idealistic motivation, not just "I wanna rule the universe."
I'm so happy Hardtop didn't die, I really expected him to be killed immediately (since I knew from the trailer that Mandroid harvests his arm. I hope Swindle rescues his bro.
Speaking of which, it looked like Hardtop pushed Swindle out of the way when the thing(?) was falling, thus saving him from being captured. Awww!

Initially I thought that Mandroid had turned the brainwashed Decepticons into those little arachnomechs, but on watching again I realized I was just confused by the Insecticons also having bug modes.

The license plate on the mini-van is BB5STING. Speaking of Bumblebee, it was cute how the dad started hyping up Bee in his description of the war, due to Bumblebee being his favorite.

Above, a 2D animated segment from when Alex Malto tells his kids about the Transformers War. Below, a screencap from the 1984 opening theme song of G1 Transformers. This makes my collector brain go hee hee hee!
Even though the style is similar to G1, it's not the exact same continuity--as Elita One arrives on Earth, Grimlock is implied not to be 'born' on Earth, and of course the thing with Optimus destroying the space bridge, stranding a bunch of 'Bots and 'Cons on Earth permanently.

Twitch and Thrash are adorable, I especially liked Twitch "naming" birds.
The scientific name for regular Cybertronians is Cybertronian cybertroni, but Twitch and Thrash are "organic-energonic" beings and Mandroid dubs them Cybertronian terran.

So... this may be a very long post... major spoilers for my Earthspark AU lies ahead.
Home has been turned into a 3 parter, and the term Home is used in a literal sense as the basis of the first part. We have three OCs in this episode, and they're all very important: David, who is the estranged son of Jon Schloder (which this is revealed in Age of Evolution, Part 1 during the Seeker assault), which in character lore, he's also Karen Croft's nephew (this is VERY important for later on). David has a Terran sibling named Derezz, who transforms into a GHOST Helicopter (and a prior episode had Derezz "kidnapped"), who was born from the same batch as the triplets, Age of Evolution, Part 2. Derezz is close friends with Twitch, to the point they've established a link with each other like siblings (very important). The last OC is Kage Davis, which her name means "shadow" like in the shadow of others, even her friends (and David is her friend, so that says a lot). She is close friends with Thrash, who feels left out a lot like her (again, important).
The premise of the episode is the same, for part 1: Maltos and Terrans head to Philly for fun. It turns into a nightmare. Well... this is how it's structured, since it is a three parter.
Way back in the pilot episode Orientation Day, Part 1, we learn that David actually lives in Philly, and that's where his home is at. Currently at the time of Home, Part 1 he's dealing with a deadly sickness he's hiding from everyone, caused by his cybernetic arm and the constant Energon it needs to be active. Here's some horror to explain why David has a cybernetic arm: In Orientation Day, Part 2, at the end of the episode, David gets captured by Mandroid (currently he doesn't know much about GHOST and David is a GHOST cadet, hence the title of the episode), and tortured to the extreme. The very end of the episode, David manages to piss Mandroid off so much he hacks David's right arm off. We don't know what happened to him until HOUSE Rules... where Mandroid has experimented further on the poor human, now nothing more than a slave (basically brainwashed by a chip, the second iteration since the first was on Hardtop and the Insecticons). After he's freed, David's condition worsens, and he forces Ranger Malto NOT to get help, scared of the consequences. In Classified, he eventually gets a cybernetic arm from GHOST at the end of that episode (and reunites with his dad, and David keeps quiet on the Terrans' existence). There's a lot of scrap to go over, but without giving away all the story, in Security Protocols, David snaps at his aunt and father at the racetrack, believing falsely that they don't care about him, even talking vehemently about the world and in some cases, people would say he's going crazy. This goes back to the arm, and that it's slowly killing him. So he wishes to check off his bucket list as he doesn't want to leave this world with unfinished business.
This leads to David and Robby both coercing their siblings to Philly, and David showing then around the neighborhood. It's all fun, it's all safe. Now, Kage goes with Nightshade and they both meet Sam. Kage is feeling unsettled about the whole ordeal of breaking curfew, worried about David, and just wanting to do SOMETHING meaningful.
Kage is a huge fan of an OC character who, quite frankly, acts like Aileron from IDW: Echolonar. Echolonar is an Autobot femme, who apparently is shadowed by Kage. Currently still working out the details between their dynamic, but this episode Kage FINALLY gets to have a heart-to-spark with the femme. Oh, and for you Arcee lovers, Echo is sparkbonded (married) to Arcee. Yes, gay/lesbian couples, something that my friend @spd-magenta-ranger came up with. Kage's arc increases from annoying sub character with a fangirl presence to helpful character with qualities and contributes more like she wants. Oh, and don't worry for people who don't like ES Arcee: Because of her married status, SHE'S NOT A JERK.
Derezz is actually on his own, feeling left out, at least until he comes across the sewers. He's bored, and sometimes you do crazy things when you're bored. He ends up stumbling across Mandroid's operation and calls for David to help take him down.
This is where the dark shit starts happening.
