Batman and Catwoman Go to War

The Bat and the Cat are at odds in a new “Dawn of DC” crossover event. Batman / Catwoman: The Gotham War will spin out of Batman’s nightmares in Knight Terrors: Batman. The crossover will occur in the pages of Batman and Catwoman, as well as special one-shots and a miniseries titled Batman / Catwoman: The Gotham War: Red Hood. 

“A coordinated effort in Gotham City has led to a reduction in violent crime, but at what cost? Villains scatter as their lives begin to crumble under a new regime. And as Batman recovers from his epic battle through the Multiverse and the horrors of Knight Terrors, one name runs through his mind. One name at the heart of this new, safer Gotham: Catwoman.” (DC Comics)

“The Gotham War” begins in Batman / Catwoman: The Gotham War - Battle Lines #1, from writers Chip Zdarsky and Tini Howard and artists Mike Hawthorne and Adriano Di Benedetto. Featuring a main cover by Jorge Jimenez, open-to-order variants by Joe Quesada and Kael Ngu, a 1:25 variant by Otto Schmidt, a 1:50 variant by Ngu, and a 1:100 inked version of Quesada’s cover, the comic goes on sale on August 29, 2023.

“The Gotham War” continues in Batman #137 and #138, by Chip Zdarsky and Jorge Jimenez and in Catwoman #57 and #58, from Tini Howard and Nico Leon. 

Batman / Catwoman: The Gotham War: Red Hood is a 2-issue miniseries from writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Nikola Čižmešija. The Gotham War will dramatically fracture the Bat-Family, especially Jason Todd, and will forever alter the Red Hood’s destiny. Issue #1 (of 2) goes on sale on September 26, 2023.

The crossover will cap off with Chip Zdarsky, Tini Howard, Mike Hawthorne, and Adriano Di Benedetto coming together again for Batman / Catwoman: The Gotham War - Scorched Earth #1, on sale on October 31, 2023.
