Fano Jazz By The Sea 2023

Torna dal 22 al 30 luglio Fano Jazz By The Sea, con una XXXI edizione di 45 concerti, 35 dei quali a ingresso gratuito e 200 musicisti provenienti da tutto il mondo che si esibiranno in tutta la città, dal centro storico al lungomare, con il consueto finale alla Golena del Furlo di Acqualagna. Organizzato da Fano Jazz Network in collaborazione con il Comune di Fano, con il sostegno di MIC-Ministero della Cultura, Regione Marche, Fondazione Carifano e altri partner istituzionali e privati, il festival ha un format consolidato, con il Main Stage alla Rocca Malatestiana e varie sezioni ospitate in diversi luoghi della città. Sabato 22 luglio si comincia con il trombonista Gianluca Petrella e i suoi Cosmic Renaissance, una band artefice dell’incontro tra suoni acustici ed elettronici, mentre la sera dopo ci sarà il gruppo di uno dei nomi più talentuosi della scena afroamericana, la sassofonista Lakecia Benjamin, mentre lunedì 24 luglio il festival ospiterà le alchimie sonore dei Rymden, trio formato dal tastierista norvegese Bugge Wesseltoft e dai due svedesi Dan Berglund e Magnus Öström, rispettivamente a contrabbasso e batteria. Nelle serate del 25 e 26 luglio ci saranno i gruppi del trombettista Theo Crocker, con il suo mix di funk spirituale, R&B elettronico e jazz spaziale, e del bassista Stanley Clarke, virtuoso delle quattro corde di basso elettrico e contrabbasso, che torna al festival. Un altro gradito ritorno sarà, per giovedì 27, quello del sassofonista Donny McCaslin, coinvolto da David Bowie per il suo ultimo album Blackstar e inoltre ci saranno altri due dei solisti scelti da Bowie per il suo testamento artistico, il tastierista Jason Lindner e il bassista Tim Lefebvre, oltre al batterista Nate Wood. Una novità sarà, venerdì 28, il trio del pianista scozzese Fergus McCreadie, che con la sua miscela di jazz e musica folk affascina il pubblico di tutto il mondo oltre a, sabato 29, uno degli eredi di una delle leggende della musica africana, Fela Kuti, la cui incredibile vitalità e la straripante energia del padre dell’Afrobaeat rivivranno grazie a Seun Anikulapo Kuti, li sassofonista come il padre, e agli Egypt 80, l’ultima band dell’indimenticato Fela. Il cartellone della XXXI edizione di Fano Jazz By The Sea è animato dalla programmazione dello Young Stage, lo spazio dedicato ai nuovi talenti, alcuni già affermati a livello nazionale, e ai nuovi progetti di  Exodus Stage, che pone l’accento su una delle tematiche cruciali dell’oggi e Cosmic Journey, immancabile appuntamento round midnight con le sonorità elettroniche che invadono il Green Jazz Village. Pearl Jam. Not many bands have achieved a status needing no adjective or description. Pearl Jam has. And fewer still have had an insider, much less a member, obsessively capture onstage and offhand pics of the experience-the friends, family, and fans...and one very famous plastic toy. Couch 2 80k - Exercise 1

Hello. This is the first ever post in this space. I am using this old misbegotten, ill-conceived Tumblr as a place to deposit my attempts at writing exercises as I make my way through Tim Clare’s “Couch to 80K” writing course. I went through this writing course a while back -- mostly. I didn’t complete it. I also didn’t keep my writings in one place, which I somewhat regret.  I’ve fallen off my writing habit in recent months (a baby has something to do with this), and taking another crack at this writing course seems like a good way to try to get back into things.

I'm sure many of you have seen my horror figures bookshelf before, but I've recently added quite a few new faces.

First up, we have Delambrefly-1 from the original 1958 The Fly:

Next we have an alien from an obscure Italian/Americam sci-fi film called The Green Slime (basically Aliens before Aliens and written by Batman co-creator Bill Finger), a small, possessed Regan MacNeil, and creeping up on '78 Michael are Leatherface and the Xenomorph affectionately nicknamed "Big Chap":

But wait, who's this?:

This little man is the villain of a very weird little horror movie called Tourist Trap.

It's part of that small subgenre of wax museum horror but even that doesn't account for how weird it is.

Coming up is the shelf with the most new faces: Captain Blake, leader of the ghostly crew of the ill-fated Elizabeth Dane from the original The Fog, the Kessler Wolf from An American Werewolf in London, the killer Miner from the original My Bloody Valentine (is he Harry Warden or Axel Palmer? Only he knows for sure), R.J. McCready from the original The Thing, Billy Chapman in killer Santa mode from Silent Night, Deadly Night and a very small, very confused Herbert West:

I like how it ended up looking like all the regular sized guys are rightfully concerned about the huge werewolf in their midst. XD

Then we have a few new additions to the late 80s-2010s shelf: 1990 Tim Curry Pennywise, who looks pretty pissed at AOD Ash:

Ghostface creeping around the corner and a tense moment for a much older Michael Myers and Laurie Strode:

I did consider putting HK's Mike and Laurie up by 78 Mike, but that wouldn't jive with the by release year organization I've got going on.

Alright, so that's it for now. I do also have a figure of the Creep from the Creepshow series, but I might not end up keeping that one as I would have to see more episodes to judge if I really like the show enough (I just wanted a Creep figure over all, but am much more interested in the upcoming 40th anniversary figure based on the first film's design).

Anyway, next pic set is going to be the Halloween decorations in my room.

Most of the musicians who exemplify their periods have some career behind, they very rarely achieve this highly known status with their early works, though there are some exceptions. For instance, Pearl Jam could be most definitely a case of that, their debut Ten was one of the discs that made grunge happen. When you listen to the disc, you can practically smell the flannel. However, this doesn't suggest the album remains a historical curiosity. No, the entire LP shows them to be different from their peers, because they already showed their affinity for classic rock on that one. While they were rightfully seen as a part of their scene, the tunes here fit the prevailing trends at the time, they also felt different in the ways that only became apparent later on.

i have been waiting 8 years to be asked this!!!

here are some personal faves that i am obsessed with and have legit shaped how i perceive some of the characterisation on this show. (most of these are boyd/raylan because that is what tickles me).

They are hostile nations by @foxlives my absolute favourite justified fic ever. my absolute favourite pre-canon raylan ever. complete perfection. i've read it so much i could quote the entire thing back to you.

Dead of the Fall by thornfield_girl i think this was one of the first justified fics i ever read, and also another all time fave. also just love fics that play with the timing of when pre-canon boyd/raylan happened, and having it happen literally RIGHT BEFORE raylan leaves is maximum angst which i adore.

Those Who Walk in the Light by RedheadAmongWolves i read this one recently and it blew me away!! an angel/demon au but raylan’s the demon and boyd’s the angel which is just SUCH a delicious concept and done so beautifully. there’s a scene in a church that has been living in my brain rent free since i read it.

I Sea What You Did There by someotherstorm (rumbrave) i’m quite iffy on domestic boyd/raylan just cause i’m annoying about realism i guess (it's a personal taste thing and not a reflection on those kinds of fic), and often there’s a LARGE suspension of disbelief to make it work for me. that being said, this one is perfect and exactly what i’d imagine they’d be like. it’s also just SO FUNNY.

College Boy by @ezlebe the dialogue in this is superb!! another hilarious one but so full of feelings. also i love how in this one it’s raylan sort of expression feelings which is rarer because he’s raylan but it’s done perfectly here.

I Have Always Lived in the Moment by scioscribe a lovely final season AU that balances raylan’s general propensity to be kind of a dick with his affection for boyd and ava so well!! delightful!!

to know me as hardly golden is to know me all wrong by @norgbelulah raylan stays in harlan AU with the added bonus of tim POV. a very interesting look at just how much more feral raylan would be if he’d stayed. also just as a side note there should be more raylan stays/boyd leaves AUs.

Rise and move again by @praycambrian this one GUTTED me. so painful but done so beautifully.

Typical Girls by @toli-a there’s a few justified genderswap AUs out there, and they’re all amazing, but this one!!! oh my goodness!!!! another one that lives rent free in my mind since i read it.

I Know You Didn’t Ask, But... by ama just the entire concept of art seeing rachel/tim/raylan as his eldest/middle/youngest children is so charming!!! also hello a tim-centric one on this list!!! when i was talking about fic that define characterisation for me, this is the specific one i was thinking of.

The Soul’s Settling by Whitefox a delightful post-series fic that also perfectly suits my annoying “how would raylan/boyd realistically be domestic” pet peeve.

Break Lines by @psikeval a wonderful ava POV. there’s a description of a kiss in this that’s so simple but leaves me breathless it’s so good.

You Snuck That Little Bit of Vanilla In by scioscribe and for something completely not boyd/raylan, i read this the other week and it’s so fun i want an entire series about it. it’s the loretta mccready/jackie nevada fic you never knew you needed.
