Hiii friends I just wanted to take the time to recommend some recent comedy tv I've been enjoying recently! I feel like I hardly see anyone ever talk about these shows, so if any of these sound interesting to you, please check them out!

Killing It: This show is an insanely good satire of class and capitalism in modern America I can't praise it enough! After being denied a loan and losing his job, Craig (played by Craig Robinson) teams up with Uber driver Jillian (played by Claudia O'Doherty) to kill invasive pythons in the Everglades to make enough prize money to start his own business. Season two sees the pair try to run a saw palmetto berry farm as bosses on the swampland their prize money bought. It covers everything from the gig economy to social media influencers to companies that buy peoples' debts to the myth of the self-made man itself. It's even got Tim Heidecker!

This Fool: Another excellent satire, This Fool centers around Julio (played by Chris Estrada), a self-pitying pushover who works at a non-profit helping ex-felons get back on their feet. When his cousin Luis (played by Frankie Quinones) is released from prison, Julio's desires to be seen as a good person are put into conflict with his existing biases. I'll be honest the pilot does not do a great job of setting up what makes the show so great, but if you get past all the "isn't it funny these tough guys are doing soft shit" jokes in the first ep, it has a ton of great character-driven comedy! This show shares a writing team (sans Estrada) with the show Corporate, which I also love, so check that out too if you haven't!

Kevin Can F**k Himself: A kinda high-concept show about what the archetypal sitcom wife goes through outside of the multi-camera setup. Allison (played by Annie Murphy) is sick of her husband Kevin's pranks and schemes, and decides the only way to escape is to kill Kevin and make it look like an accident. This show actually ended last year, but I'm genuinely surprised this doesn't seem that well known on tumblr because the metatextual commentary and experiments with format (and yuri slowburn) are all things people on here seem to love. It's only 16 episodes check it out!!

How To With John Wilson: This show has probably seen the most critical praise of all these so you may already know about it but it's honestly incredible. Each episode follows John Wilson as he delivers meandering commentary vaguely related to the topic of each episode (eg. "How To Make Small Talk"), laid over footage he has taken of the streets of New York City. He interviews people he finds on the internet, and reflects on the human condition. It's silly, sad, gross, and beautiful all at once! Recommended for fans of Nathan Fielder and Joe Pera.

For the gang: What are some after-school activities you kids do?

Phoebe: I like to go bird-watching, and I'm on the school soccer team with Keesha, Carlos, Tim, Wanda, and some kids who aren't in our class. Ralphie and I also like to play with our pets or cook dinner together or watch Star Wars.

Ralphie: I like to go fishing at Walker Lake every once in a while. But most of the time, I have baseball practice. When I'm not at bat, I'm the second baseman. Wanda's the pitcher, Carlos is the left fielder, and D.A. is the first baseman-- I mean baseperson.

D.A.: I like to visit the library with my sister Evan. We always come home with more books than we can carry, so we use a wagon. And once a month, the Walkerville Astronomy Club has a stargazing night at the park, so I go to that.

Carlos: Mostly hanging out with my younger siblings. (And trying to get Maria to do my math homework for me by offering her chocolate.) Also, I'm on both the soccer team and the baseball team.

Tim: Drawing and painting, mostly. Also playing on the soccer team.

Wanda: When it's warm out, I like to go swimming in the lake. (Fake monster or no fake monster.) And of course, I play baseball and soccer. I also have dance class once a week.

Keesha: I have dance class (the same one Wanda goes to). Soccer as well. When I'm not doing either of those, I like to go bug-hunting with Phoebe, Ralphie, and Wanda. We got Carlos to join one time, but he chickened out after seeing a centipede.

Arnold: Just staying home and relaxing. If Janet's visiting, I spend the time avoiding her.

read the wikipedia summary (and tvtropes) for the new ari aster film and having watched every other film on his letterboxd and enjoyed or appreciated elements of some of them i can confidently say that LMAOOO LOOKS BAD 

idk i just feel like there are better films out there for so much of what it is doing

surreal manifestations of the psychology of a sad and lonely man with a dysfunctional relationship to his mother, ass balls dick character design, and a faux trial? pink floyd’s the wall literally does all of that

absurdism and nihilism in a bonkers presentation with some immature humour and practical effects? everything everywhere all at once will give you that without the weird attitudes about the homeless or the relentless pessimism and shock factor that aster puts in all his films, Swiss Army Man will give you all the gross out humor taken seriously you could ever want too.

Headcanon Anon here with the kids' individual senses of humor!

John-Zany, prank-filled, with slapstick! Not out to hurt anyone's feelings, just mildly annoy/confuse strangers and friends and family.

Rose-Snark, dark humor, casually intrusive wordplay. Has a hidden goofy side that only friends know about but likes to present herself as a Rule 63 Cigarette Smoking Man from X-Files with an even worse sense of humor.

Dave-Anti-humor with rambling monologues and left-fielders galore. Probably went to sleep watching Tim & Eric and would get along great with Neil Hamburger.

Jade-Loves math humor and feghoots; actually likes to work for her laughs, the poor soul (Remember, she is canonically able to make Kanaya laugh so make of that what you will.)

Terezi-Sick, distressing, prank-filled sense of humor that's a dark mirror of John's. Basically swears by the healing power of schadenfreude. Could take Eric Andre's desk in a heartbeat.

Kanaya-Morbid, literalist sense of humor. So dry that most people don't tend to know if she's joking or not.

Tavros-Self-deprecating, surprisingly dark at times sense of humor. Casually mocks any unfortunate events that befall him, regardless of the seriousness.

Karkat-Wants to come off as serious but likes it when people show dedication to a joke, like H Jon Benjamin's jazz piano album.

Sollux-Loves snarking and loves being snarked at. Is also partial to particularly negative reviews of things as long as it doesn't rely on shouting and obvious bias.

Feferi-Very juvenile sense of humor with a love of puns, toilet humor and bring up sexual topics in non-sexual situations. Giggles everytime at the "hide under there/under where?" gag.

Eridan-Not really a laugher but does chuckle at hearing a good pun every once in a while.

Nepeta-Loves her puns and her small pranks like hiding kills in friend's pillows. Thinks pushing cups off tables is the height of comedy.

Equius-Enjoys gentlemanly Oscar Wilde-esque snark; also enjoys his share of puns.

Meenah-Loves puns, pain, people being in pain, breaking stuff, and Aranea's long-winded shaggy dog stories. She'll kill you if you tell anyone the last part though.

Vriska-No sense of humor. Does funny things, says funny stuff but has no timing, can't tell a joke to save her life and hates comedies.

Jane-Loves sitcoms, one-liners from detective dramas and verbal bathos.

Jake-Loves one-liners and pratfalls. As well as the good ribbing from any of his friends.

Roxy-Loves pranks, flirtations (even more than Rose, believe it or not) and coding humor.

Dirk-Very dark sense of humor and loves to keep people in the dark about how serious he is about any given topic; he likes it even more when even he doesn't know (re: his MLP obsession)

Aradia-Twisted sense of humor almost as dark as Dirk's; believes nothing's off the table and will only stop when her target audience tells her to, nothing more, nothing less.

Gamzee-Loves bad jokes and stupid sounds; will probably laugh at a joke without you having to finish it.

Damara-Sexual humor is her main weapon and everything is looking like a target; will do anything outside of actual battery to make her target uncomfortable.

Rufioh-Has a wide range of humor but seems to prefer observational comedy.
