btw "Jews are stealing blond children for their nefarious purposes" is one of the oldest antisemitic lies in the book. It has been around since the middle ages and often been used to justify the murder and persecution of jews.
So if you see someone making this exact same accusation today, with no source in sight, and certainly not the sort of iron-clad proof a claim like that would need to be credible, maybe consider that it may just be a lie that seems plausible because it exploits deeply ingrained prejudices.
And then don't spread the lie further.

can we go back to people being allowed to make their "cringe rawr xd doing anime poses on camera" videos without people adding them to cringe compilations and showing a video having harmless fun to thousands of thousands of people. remember when you could do that and literally no one would care. why do we hate other peoples fun. also why do we have to be ableist and fatphobic ontop of it all go explode

sometimes when talking to non-American mutuals I’ll casually mention the state of national affairs in America and that will always without a doubt follow with five minutes of silence and then a ‘what the fuck’

starting to get irked by the "traveler is 500+ years old" thing bc it reminds me of the "julius caesar, who has been dead for well over 70 years" meme. you're not wrong with that number but i just hate it

i hope everyone remembers that micro aggressions still happen and asians still arent past the point of being racially targetted in the united states
my 7 year old brother literally got told by a white woman without a mask on to put on his mask…im not even joking its cold season right now and everyone behind her was coughing and yet she decides to pick on my 4 ft tall little brother…
and everyone pls remember that asians arent just “aesthetically appealing” . its not just china and korea and japan. im speaking as someone whos filo-chinese , the philippines exists and we still get shit for it in america. theres southeast asians like from cambodia, indonesia, malaysia, theres south asians (indians), asia is not just one unified culture but so many that influence each other.
so when you say that you “like asian culture”, are you just saying that you like anime and kpop idols? do you like cute bento boxes and “the language”? what language? mandarin? hindi? every dialect on the philippine islands? do you like the culture or the aesthetic?
do you also appreciate the ugly side where we can’t live up to the standard our parents hold for us? would you eat a chicken fetus because you love asian culture that much? (its called balut btw). would you acknowledge the asians with dark skin or the asians that are plain dirt poor?
…or maybe youre just a part of the problem too?
fetishization also happens to us, like in miss saigon—a broadway show about themes of asian fetishization/prostitution with a vietnamese mc…lea solanga was the actress for kim, and yet i don’t know if many people are aware that the actress was a filipina and not an east asian...she even voiced jasmine and mulan’s singing voice. we’re here and yet, somewhat invisible. i don’t know how many people would even know that filipinos are aapi.
the philippines is literally almost the size of japan, we have vocal stars like morisette, comedians like jokoy and world famous boxers (shoutout to my guy manny pacquiao with the worst filipino accent in existence).
and yet, why are we forgotten in this debate ?

I must be the only one with this particular pet peeve but I always twitch when characters say "aeons" in fiction because I was a paleontology and worldbuilding obsessed kid and I knew than an aeon in geology is the largest possible geological period, the entire period of eukaryotic life on Earth is a SINGLE aeon, we are talking about thousands of millions of years, so when a character says "I've been alive from aeons..." and they are at most a couple pathetic thousand years old I'm like "no, that's not right, that's not even geological time, do better"

when i die, and whatever entity at the end greets me, it will allow me to ask one single question. it can be anything, and it will answer truthfully. i could ask what the meaning of life is, or whether the world is better off without me. i could ask for a list of all the people who have had crushes on me, or what my life would have been like if i took one different turn. i could ask for something relating to my trauma, or my old friends. i could ask how my remaining family members will live the rest of their lives, or how many people came to my funeral. but i already know what question i will ask. no matter if i die today, in five years or sixty, the question will always be the same. the one question that has been plaguing me since i was twelve years old.
when i die, i will look this entity in the rough approximation of where it's eyes should be, and i will ask:
"what is the population of the lost cities?"
and i will be able to rest in peace.

Hey who was the third original councilor? I know there was bronte and fallon but. Who was the third? Fintan? I don't think that was ever mentioned- idk it just feels like it would be plot relevant if shannon ever did anything with it idk
Great question!! We actually only know one member of the original council for certain, and that's Fallon Vacker. Bronte was one of the first emissaries for the original council, but he wasn't an original council member. Easy to get it confused though, as he's the longest serving council member. However in this instance that means that everyone before him stepped down and got replaced with younger people, not that he was there from the beginning.
It's possible that Fintan could've been one of the three, but as of right now that is unconfirmed. We know he was a councillor at one point and then stepped down when pyrokinesis was banned, but as far as the timeline of everything goes we don't know when that happened in relation to the council being formed, if that makes sense.
We might get to learn of them, but it doesn't seem to be plot relevant. The reason we know about Fallon being an original council member is because it explains the Vacker family fame, which directly impacts Sophie's friends and therefore Sophie. And then we don't hear about the others because Sophie doesn't know their descendants and doesn't need to, if they had them. it's possible the Vacker family is the only one that went on to have descendants and the other councillors didn't have family and stay to themselves, more reason for them not to be mentioned.
So to summarize: we only know that Fallon was on the original council, but it's possible (yet unconfirmed) that Fintan was as well! Hopefully that helps

i think our ancestors would be proud of us. we give people food. we give them water. we give them things they need every single day to live. we give them luxury items, stuff they don't need to survive, but they want to have. we help people (dozens of people! hundreds! thousands!) have things they need and want. and it's not easy work all the time, or even most of the time, but it makes people's lives better and possible and i think that's nice. and i think our ancestors would be happy with that, that their descendants are helping others, bringing people joy and warmth, food and water, heat and shelter. even if it's not the easiest thing to do all the time.
