idk something cute about obikin, when characterized that anakin has loved obi-wan since he was a kid, is just that. anakin gets to fall in love again and again and again. every new phase of life he sees obi-wan differently and he loves him differently. obi-wan treats him differently as they both grow up and anakin finds new things about him to love, new jokes that he understands now, new corners of his personality that were previously hidden, and finds all of them so entrancing. whereas obi-wan's love for anakin shifts and changes over their time together, until romance is all tangled up with i took care of you and will always take care of you and i used to teach you and i always want to be able to teach you and you used to come to me when you were scared, i never want you to be afraid again, anakin just finds new ways to love, always different and exciting, until all his past loves are still obi-wan

au where obi-wan and anakin are both employees of their respective (state?? planet?? take this au anywhere you want) departments of tourism and part of their jobs is doing the whole social media thing. anakin (who high tailed it out of the desert as soon as he could) is very happy promoting the wonderful lakes, forests, markets, and temperate weather of naboo. obi-wan, after a slight 1/3rd life crisis, is having a blast promoting the beautiful dunes, rock formations, sand boarding, hiking, and tanning opportunities of tatooine.

once anakin finds out that fucking tatooine of all places has a department of tourism, and that theyre trying to make his hometown seem nice, decides that he has enough job security to start ripping this social media account a new one, from the official naboo account. obi-wan, of course, has to retaliate. in between normal, expected posts, about cultural events, true accounts, and cross promotion of different departments, it’s common to see an absolutely scathing review of tatooine canyon or a less than stellar photo of a hot spring from naboo (with the caption you guys really hike 4 hours, spend thousands of credits, just to see a hole with less pressure than my showerhead 🤨🤨 alright then #VisitTatooine #AtLeastOurSunsDontDecideNotToComeOut). onlookers think this is just a funny ‘haha the accounts are trying to personifiy themselves and have a little rivalry’ but no, their coworkers are begging them to stop. please anakin, we know you hate sand, but NABOO cant say that. obi-wan please we cant have people think that everyone on tatooine likes fighting our department is supposed to change that.

they end up meeting at some large conference and they hit it off and when they find out WHERE they work, WHAT department, and WHICH media account they’re in charge of, they’re like the spiderman meme except with more sexual tension.

long story short, they split the difference and end up moving to coruscant when they get married

My #1 post of 2022

au where anakin is a habitual sugar baby but he doesnt like to do much sexual stuff so he usually dips when his daddies start asking about more than dates. he’s making his way through grad school and doesnt have a lot of time for a ‘normal job’, between TAing and doing research labs, so this works for him, despite his limitations. obi-wan is a hot shot accountant that was conned by his friends into using a sugaring app, since he refused to be endearing on dating apps and hated everyone that his friends tried to set him up with. the goal is just to get him used to ‘putting himself out there’ and no one actually expects him to become a sugar daddy.

anyway he and anakin start chatting, anakin asks obi-wan to take him out to dinner and obi-wan is like “uhh sure” and takes him to a nice, but not overly expensive restaurant, an anakin is like HUH? they start talking and anakin offhandedly mentions some of his spending habits and obi-wan is like “you spend HOW MUCH a month on toys?” (”Gunpla aren’t toys, they’re model kits, and it takes a lot of patience to put them together”) and instead of a normal session, they spend the rest of the evening arguing about anakin’s monthly budget. he almost forgets to ask obi-wan to pay him his usual fee, and when obi-wan hands over the money he’s like, “this better not be going to those ‘gunpla’s when you havent paid your cell phone bill yet”

usually after such a confrontational meeting anakin would NOT be setting up another one. but obi-wan is handsome and funny and he actually had some good advice of how to reshuffle money so he meets with him again and again and soon he has a budget that saves him more money and he can just stay afloat with his pay from TAing and with just one sugar daddy.

and obi-wan, who expected nothing out of this and instead found this sugar baby who he’s kinda obsessed with, certainly isn’t going to argue. and hey, you know, an even better way to save money is by finding a cheaper place to live, anakin, for example, my house, where i don’t charge rent at all. anyway, anakin transitions from a sugar baby to a trophy husband in under a year and obi-wan still side eyes him everytime he buys mecha kits

Activity UPDATE

So I been getting back from art block and putting my best foot forward on most sites, mainly art related sites i feel need a proper chance again. By that I mean 1, post more art and 2, interact with others. Which I found highly rewarding before and find I STILL love even when I don’t get likes/reblogs/replies on my posts. Curious~ More of journals and expressive outlets by this point for myself. Course, I love when my posts make friends and others happy or interested xD can’t lie about that! lol But can’t take that for granted or you be disappointed. -shrug- \-(owo)-/ now...... *what do people tend to connect in posts more* ~

- Colors choice are a big one. I am not the best with pigment choices and patience slip up. When you have good color harmony people’s flock! xD - Fanart. Course, they don’t know your OC’s, Relate more to their favorite movie/book/etc. This works out great for me tho, tend to put OC’s or sona to interact with fanart characters. its great! More fun for ME! - Comics/active images. Easier to comment on then say a posing character. - Personal art. I tend to like art more when I know the artist, or at least find them funny, kind or somewhat relate to them emotionally. This is why I think personal art are extremely important. They are putting themselfs out there, connecting with their family/friends/audience despite all trolls/haters/AI and art thiefs. And If I think this are important. Then I bet. Most art lovers are the same. --------- BUT OF COURSE!!

We can’t create for others. no! well, maybe, if it’s your work and you have no choice and need income. o_o; still STiiiiiiiiiiiiiILL To protect you from art blocks and burned out!!!! - it’s important to sometimes like the idea of what you draw! Get it out there and even if nobody interacts with it’s creation, you, are happy its out. create for yourself. /^ U^/ When in an art block I rather sketch faces of all my OC’s, it’s relaxing. no rules about having to look good, surprising how creative one become with the I draw whatever i want mood. - Write a creative list: of things you would want to create for a blue day when the head is empty(butyoufffffSTILLwanttodraw). this goes hand in hand with the first one, but are soooooo fucking handy. ---------------

For me personally, - It’s mainly friends and art community!!! - I also like using these sites as journals/blogging/outlet. - and some sites are handy portfolios. ;)) not particular important for ME. but you know... people (mainly family lol) get’s curious what you are drawing. ------------------------ and after all that I want to turn to the subject of problematic interactions on the internet.... the creativity killers, trolls/haters/AI art/art thieves................. =____= I know................ better be done with this one quick. Bleeeh.... - Block if they make you uncomfortable, it’s your room. - Delete comments freely. - You don’t own them anything. ----------------------------------------------------- NOW.

Having said all this I am highly aware folks are working/going to school, rather be with family when free and the world are in a stressful position. Becomes even harder if your disabled, easily stressed and got frail income (and so much more!!!!!) Art is not your main focus. Only reason I myself can art every day and be be active online Is I made it a daily activity, to make myself happier. ^^ Because I was retired at an early age of 30. Could not keep up with today’s pressure of society because of my ADHD. Working 8 times a day, doing shores like shower/do dishes/bills/wash clothes and still have energy after for family and friends was impossible. ^^; Was lucky to have a mom who work in the health field so she noticed my difficulties just as I entering my teen years. To not mention, Sweden are one of those countries who take mental health rather seriously. Which is how I can survive without working full time and instead have meetups and the like with others like me almost every day to at least get out from the house. Daily activities or schedules are encouraged. Like going to the gym, hanging with friends an family, working on your interest.

SO YOU MIGHT SEE WHY IT’S EASIER FOR ME!! don’t beat yourself up. I can only do this because of all the support I have and, well, my own urge still wanting to contribute to society. Would not get anything done if I didn’t find art/blogging/journaling interesting. xD I dono If I ever get a proper job. If I have one It have to fit me personally rather then I fitting in a tight mold. I was so frustrated and felt trapped for years. Nowadays I accepted reality but have not abandoned my dreams. Dreams are important. Make art to make yourself happy you guys!!! <3

ESC 2021 Preshow: 08. France

Barbara Pravi - “Voilà”

Autoqualifier

France going from 3rd last on my ranking / likely last place in the finale to 8th place in the ranking / probably top 3 in the Grand Final. 😍 WHAT A GLOW-UP.

So, “Voilà” is epic, obviously. Yeah I will skip the theatrics, each and every one of you know this song and we all know it’s probably the best French entry in ages. 

Funnily enough, I didn’t care for “Voilà” when I first heard it lmfao. It felt similar to the song Patricia Kaas went to Eurovision with and while “Et s’il faillait le faire” has its fans, I was never one of them. Worse, the internet immediately resorted to refering to “Voilà” as a “masterpiece” which is probably the pretentious statement you can make about Eurovision songs. Guys, it’s an Edith Piaf-inspired tribute act. Calm the eff down. Still, even at this early a stage I was instantly charmed by Barbara’s introspection and pluck even if I didn’t care for the music at first. After all, Barbara was the mastermind behind jesc HITS “Bim bam toi” and “J’imagine” and if she wants to bring a song that puts HER SELF at the forefront, she’s perfectly entitled to do so. About fucking time. On top of that, I thought the ending was sublime, even in studio version. “Why can’t the entire song be like that”, I thought. And then, E:CVQD arrived and Barbara SERVED, OUTSOLD, SLAYED, etc every superlative under the sun. 

So remember when I aired my critique regarding Gjon? “Tout l’Univers” is an “Objectively Strong” composition in that it employs music theory to conjure up a song that sounds impressive on first listen. But behind that academic skill lies virtually nothing of interest. I cannot connect with it beyond a base level because what does it tell me about Gjon or his story? Technique without a heart or a soul is merely pretense. But I suppose it can sound sophisticated to someone who doesn’t know what “sophistication” is. 

Barbara, however. Her personality just SPRINGS FORWARD on an approachable level from the first note. “Voilà”s’s technical expertise and Barbara’s own perfomance talents carry this vibe, this SERVE of personality, through the full three minutes without ever getting boring or tedious and they leave me craving for another listen. ALL OF THESE ARE AMAZING TRAITS IN A EUROVISION SONG. And this is just from the studio version, the live stage show makes it even better. 

So yeah, homeboy’s got his work cut out for him because if this is his competition he’ll have to graft hard for his victory.

NF Corner -  C’est Vous Qui Décidez

In what would become a running theme amidst countries this year, France led the charge in a personal project called #OperationForget2020, in which every trace of last year would be subsequently memory-holed. To acheive this, they revived their NF, gave it a new name and pretended it was ~The First NF of Its Format~ (so basically doing what Lithuania did last year when they rebranded Atranka into PiN).

INCIDENTALLY, this would also wind up the best NF of the year, pretty much by default because France had the most to win. Even though Barbara was the obvious winner from the instant the songs were revealed, the French had some excellent back-up options in their arsenal. Let’s rummage through them shall we?

LMK - “Magique”

R&B Trap wench <3 “Magique” starts off pretty and cute for fifteen seconds, before whiplashing hard into kick-ass tropical house territory. Her Slovene spirit mothers Raiven and Lea Sirk are so proud of her <3 She definitely deserved much better than the result she got (being NQ with the audience O_O), but lol it’s France, they ain’t NEVER crowning a sexually confident sassy woman, let’s not kid ourselves. 

Céphaz - “On a mangé le soleil”

This Hat God had me at that title. “We have eaten the sun” 😍😍😍😍. More songs should adopt a fatalistic environmental angle by using consumption-related metaphors à la “we’ve devoured out planet :burp:, MOAR”, and then set this suuuuper cynical and depressing text to an upbeat and optimistic soundtrack <3 The “Hey ya” tease of it all. 😍

Amui - “Maeva”

So cheerful it turns a surly cretin such as myself into a blundering mass of uwu. It’s like a nillies Eurovision semi NQ’er suddenly wandered into the set, so derivative and repetitive and tacky but SO fun and happy-go-lucky <3 The entire premise of “Maeva” is basically like: “VISIT FRENCH POLYNESIA, WE ARE THE MOST HOSPITABLE PEOPLE ON THIS EARTH” <333 using this message in the middle of a worldwide viral pandemic <33333333 Normally fun-trash like this would be murdered at first sight by any jury, but whoops “Maeva” turned out a massive televote hit HEHEE 😛 and finished third in the televote despite being last or second last with the jury. Those Tahitian diasporia votes coming through <3

Adriamad - “Allélujah”

TACKY EUROTRASH <3 Lol when I think of it, did I like this NF because it was good or because it was so fun-trash. Anyway, this display of diversity would normally be on my shitlist but it’s honestly SO OTT in its ~People Of The World Of All Colours Are Equal~ message it circles back into funny. The eye gimmick, the hammy choreography, the obnoxious fusion of several cultures into a nondescript ethnotrash hodgepodge, the fucking LYRICS everything is so funny and so entertaining it’s giving me LIFE. 😍 I’d say it deserved better but “Allélujah” stranding in the demifinal (not a typo) is honestly a much, much more satisfying result <3

Predicted Journey - France

Barbara is going on that Mahmood trajectory, I see. Early fave who gets near unanimous critical acclaim, rules solely on top until the other contenders show up and is then put on the backburner because she’s an autoqualifier and therefore isn’t a part of the “who will qualify?” discussions. Then, the rehearsals will happen and everyone will remember “hey, that French chick we almost forgot about is actually REALLY good” allowing her to pick up momentum again, catapulting her into the top five. So it is written, such it shall be.

The question is... Can she win? 

The answer is: yeah, possibly? At this point we have three potential contenders: Gjon for Switzerland and Destiny for Malta are the main rivals and I’d say Barbara has one big advantage over Gjon and Destiny: She already has a great live performance to back up her potential winner status. In fact, Barbara is a fave to win because we know what she’s going to bring in Rotterdam.  Gjon and Destiny could theoretically still bomb if their staging is off (and both are getting theirs done by Sasha Jean-Baptiste, soooooo) and their contenderness is based on things such as hype and expectation. Barbara meanwhile already had her baptism by fire when she competed in E:CQVD, which she handily won.

The problem though is Gjon Muharremaj. For the average eurofan, France and Switzerland have similar entries and it will result in a tug-of-war between which of them has the better song. Either could win this televote bout, and whoever does could beat Malta.. .but that would require Malta to have a disappointing televote result and with each passing day this is starting to look less likely. (Jury results matter less because they’re probably the top 3).  Personally I don’t really have a preference between Barbara OR Destiny as a win for either would push Eurovision in a better direction (A Gjon win though... I am TERRIFIED that may result in a 2022 contest filled with Vincent Bueno’s and Vasils), but if these three are indeed the top three, Barbara’s position is the most secure although she’s probably also the least likely one to actually win. Pray that I’m wrong though and we can all meet at her flat in Montmartre for a covid-proof afterparty.

Can’t get over how wildly iconic & funny it was in LB one when Kadoc sent Salieri to kill Ritsuka & Co. and he shows up to try but his spell breaks and mid-fighting he suddenly realizes what’s going on & who he is & that he’s not Mozart--Kadoc & Co. just kept him under the spell & he’s like “Wtf? Wait. Oh my god.” & while he’s still just standing there having a mental breakdown & exastential horror crisis remembering Mozart dying again and realizing what’s going on and just existing again out of nowhere Kadoc appears and is like “Damn you’re not useful anymore now that you know who you are. Rip--May as well kill you.” and Salieri is like 

and gets shot and he’s like “Well fuck that & you” and tries to kill him & almost does but gets himself shot to shit and he’s like, unconscious dying in the snow while you fight Kadoc and kick his sorry little bitch ass, and then your group is like “Well that random dude is just bleeding out here in the snow. 4. Do you have a favorite member within Chelicerata?

(Chelicerata is the arachnid/horseshoe crab/sea spider subphylum for reference) Uhmmm well. Generally I'm pretty partial to spiders because my brother likes spiders so probably jumping spiders? Historically my favorite genus has been Maratus (peacock spiders) so I'd probably go with M. personatus (blue-faced peacock spider) which is actually a pretty newly designated species! When spidersonas were popular mine was based on the M. personatus so its been a longtime favorite BUT i dont know anything abt other arachnids so maybe im missing out on some sick as hell scorpions or something o_o

8. What's the neatest bug you've seen in person?

The African Giant Millipede! Thats a pretty basic answer but I really like millipedes and those guys are so fucking big. There arent really any interesting native bugs where I am that I've seen but tbh I think any bug I find is the neatest :]

16. Talk about a bug most people hate that you don't mind?

Mud daubers !!!! Which is actually a pretty huge collection of bugs but I feel like theyre a pretty hated section of wasps (which are already hated) that I really like!! Also while looking them up to make sure I was saying the right things about mud daubers I found that their wikipedia page has a section for "Airplane Incidents". Which is interesting. But anyways I really like the structure of wasp nests generally and the amazing structures mud daubers make out of ??? mud ??? Is crazy to me. I love nest-building insects so much <3 I don't have much else to say I just like these guys <3

32. Favorite fruit fly gene or mutation?

this is gonna be soooo basic of me but i really like sepia mutated flies because ive worked with it more than most other mutations? also i think its funny that females will see males with sepia eyes and go. that guy is so gross and unfuckable :/. i feel like the more interesting answers of miniature, white, and vestigial are just kinda cruel??? sepia eyes mostly dont effect lifespan or mating other than like. female choice selective forces which is present in wt flies anyways so it doesnt bother me as much as the decreased lifespan of white-eyed flies and the fucked up flight of miniature and vestigial wings.
