gonna start a new tag 'half baked goods' for some of my story ideas that like. idk if i will ever execute but SOUND DAMN COOL in my head and im worried i'll forget about
anyway may i present: story idea about a crime story club/interest group that gathers to discuss like detective novels and the occasional true crime case from their region (and maybe through these discussions the audience gets a feel of how they think, e.g. one of them's the perfect logician type, one really love criminal psychology and analysing suspects motives, one is a really good communicator and is more into the storytelling part of crime stories/reporting, etc.) until one of them gets like, Actually Murdered and the rest of the group is called to assist in the investigation by police as the victims closest friends (as in, provide statements and eyewitness reports or whatever), and of course as crime nerds all of them start their own little investigations into Who Killed Their Friend, each going off in their own wildly different directions based on their own personal strengths (investigating the crime scene for physical evidence, interviewing the victims family/coworkers for a possible motive, bribing/manipulating the police investigators into revealing leads from the official investigation, etc) and as the story and their little investigations go on it gets revealed that the killer is very very likely another member of the club, so their investigations also become this mind game where they have to exchange information with each other to proceed but they're also not sure who to trust because they dont want to reveal to the killer that they're on their tracks
and to the audience it slowly becomes clear that each of them are in this little club because of/to escape from something from the rest of their lives (like, one of them is definitely neurodivergent and this is their special interest/hyperfixation) (but also for some of them its absolutely just shit life syndrome) and this investigation is slowly forcing them to confront that as the people around them realise how it's consuming their lives (and in the end the killer's motive is also tied to this Thing that they're avoiding/escaping from, like running away has become so important to them that they're willing to do anything including commit actual murder)
and maybe the final part of the story can be this knives out-esque perspective shift (spoilers for knives out btw) where like, at least one member of the club has actually figured out who the killer is and we're following the killer's pov as they try to cover their tracks and clear their own suspicion and even like, converting other members of the club to their side and helping to vouch for them and stuff (also if you go back and look at this character's 'investigation' from the earlier part of the story its actually reframed as them trying to conceal evidence/gaslight witnesses/throw the other members off the right track)
(also the police suck in this because of course they suck. like the police investigators are super slow and inefficient and susceptible to bribery. like partly to make the members' investigations more interesting but also just partly because that feels like it would make sense for the tone of this story KJDSHFKDSJHFKJSD)
#half baked goods#anyway what's the notes app? never heard of her#this is of course very very much inspired by the truth/whos the murderer#both of which i HIGHLY recommend if you like chinese variety shows like in general they're both so good#but also another inspiration is just a really good fanfic for the truth im reading rn on lofter#like especially this idea of 'if your friend committed a murder will you be able to Tell'#like not even a question of whether you'll consciously look the other way if you know your friend committed a crime#more like.. the immovable object of unconditional trust vs the unstoppable force of indisputable evidence#like yknow. ep 4 of the truth but For Realsies#one thing im starting to realise recently is that i REALLY like thinking about those kinda#stories about kinda screwed up people manipulating/playing mind games on each other#like ever since watching heroes ive become obsessed with like... a. sympathetic villains b. characters who arent quite right in the head#this concept will likely have both#the one problem with executing this is just that im really really stupid#every time i consume a crime story i literally just turn my brain off and wait for the denouement#the whole idea of each character thinking about crimes in different ways comes from those comments/metas about the truth/whos the murderer#on the strengths of the different cast members like guo qilin's logic vs zhou keyu's spacial reasoning vs liu yuning's divergent thinking#im just. highly doubtful of my own ability as a writer to like. adequately demonstrate something like that to an audience JKSDFHKJH

Thinking about Garrus again and how much I appreciate his character, his development, his search for perspective and how it shapes his relationship with Shepard.
He always wants to do the Right Thing, as in Achieve X Positive End Goal, but the way there is so murky to him. So tough to navigate, to visualize. He likes when it's clear and when it's simple, but it simply never fucking is, so he has to Think It Through. And he simply cannot trust anyone else to do the thinking for him. He can't trust them to value the Right Thing as much as he does. He can't trust them to want it as badly.
and then, ENTER SHEPARD STAGE LEFT, and finally he finds someone that he can trust. With all of it. He can Tell she wants it just as badly, but the difference is, she seems to also have an idea of how to get there.
I've seen people complain that he has no backbone and just agrees with whatever Shepard says, and it's like… they don't get it. He needs someone in his life who he can trust to think things through with him, to meet him where he's at and to engage in good faith. She is the Only person he would ever cede to, the only authority he'll accept, because she has proven herself to care just as much as he cares.
(As a side note, that's also how I view his infamous elevator talks. He's not approaching these conversations closed-mindedly even if his word choice is often lacking or people take offense to his straight-forwardness. As I said, the path is murky for him. He's asking because he genuinely wants to know. He's practically desperate for another point of view. He wants to understand.)
He's the only character who constantly asks Shepard for her opinion on things, on morality issues and approaches and how she'd navigate all the little pitfalls that line the road to Justice. And over the games he recognizes that even this lofty end goal is anything but simple, and it's shaped by how they get there. He doesn't talk these things through with her just to follow her direction like a soldier following orders. Him accepting her response, no matter what it is, is him respecting her so much and believing so much in her true desire for achieving Justice - it's not blanket agreeing with her.
This happens so often in ME3: he'll ask, and she'll respond, and he will accept her answer without judgement, but you never hear him say "you're so right, o my moral compass". He's just mapping the path that's ahead, and he takes her opinion as much into account as his own, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't have his own or that it always aligns with hers. He wants the full picture, and at that point, he is humble enough to know that his opinion is subjective, so he needs more points of view and more intel, and there is none that he values more than Shepard's.
But it's not all for himself. They're both stuck in the same, horrible situation. He's asking her, and in turn she has to think about it and really consider all the pitfalls he's already identified but isn't sure how to approach. He's a safe sounding board for her. They think it through together, her as this unstoppable force towards the Right Thing, him as the one in the sniper's perch who sights the path ahead and calls out to her when there's a wall before she can run head-first into it. In the end, they're two people united in their striving for the same thing, two halves of a well-oiled machine. No Shepard without Vakarian.

[headcanon] donald and douglas have a unique skill where they can call anyone a nickname ans no one ever gets mad at them. Even the people who you'd expect to get mad (or find nicknames should be reserved for more intimate times).
List of names the twins somehow get away with
Thomas: Tommy, Tom, Massy/Mossy. Low-tier but Thomas usually gets huffy being called Tommy
Oliver: Ollie. Classic, easy. Tho one of them called him Liver for a whole day once and that was beginning to get onto thin ice.
Duck: Duckie, Monty. They are the ONLY people who ever get away w calling Duck Monty (Donald more so than Douglas) (i'm a 8x9 shipper, sue me)
James: Jim, Jimmy, Jimbo, Jammy, Jimjam, any other annoying derivatives they can think of. James is so goddamn fed up with them but has given up protesting becauae Donnie and Douggie are an unstoppable force
Edward: Eddie, Ed, Ted, Teddy, Theodore. 'Ted' can be derived from both Theodore and Edward, you see. Edward finds it amusing and endearing.
Bill and Ben: William and Benjamin. Donald and Douglas are the only engines who can lengthen the names and Bill and Ben can hear it from and not assume they're in trouble.
Henry: Hank. Henry doesn't get annoyed by this so much as confused.
Harold: Harry. Harold gets miffed because only Percy calls him that ò///ó
Gordon: Gordie. WARNING: Use Sparingly. Only when Gordon is in a good mood/up for a joke. They have received the scariest death glares trial-and-erroring this one.
Percy: Perce. Nice n straightforward. Duck likes Percy too much for them to give Percy an annoying or mean nickname.
Emily: Emma, Emmy, Milly. She tolerates it/finds it about as endearing as Edward does
They call Rebecca many variations on her name and she's too new and too ^-^' to ask why they do it. She Has politely requested they don't call her Becky, though
They also call the fat controller Hattie. But Never Ever to his face. (Not as brave as Junior tatmr, clearly. lmao)
It's 1am and i cant think of any more examples but yeah <3

This season established that:
Tech can outpilot/outrace every other non Force sensitive humanoid we've seen in canon.
He's a deadly supersoldier, even with injuries that would cripple most humanoids.
Tech and Omega are physically very durable and capable of surviving falls, rogue waves, natural disasters, spelunking, technology run amok, the zillow beast, races, the Emperor, the Senate, Imperial fighters, stampede, and more.
Omega has learned his flying maneuvers, as well as to think as strategically as he does. She also knows a lot about Kaminoan technology.
Tech and Omega together are resourceful, cunning, brilliant, and unstoppable. What he doesn't think of, she will.
They're family, not just fellow members of a squad. And Tech feels very deeply about the family's situation, safety and future.
Neither wants to leave Crosshair behind and will do whatever it takes to rescue him.
Both have the medical and technical knowledge to understand just what the Empire is up to and Hemlock is doing to the clones.
Both have made friends among the smartest, most adventurous, well-connected and deadliest people in the galaxy.
Tech and Omega have tasted what their futures could be like. They both have a lot to live for.
Tl;dr: Tech is more than capable of surviving the fall. Now he and Omega are just where they need to be to free Crosshair and get the needed information about the clones to Rex, Bail, and Riyo.

My lovely Shakratu, Fury. They/she/he are focused on electrogenesis and weather manipulation.
They're especially fond of creating downpours, fog/mist, and thunderstorms to obscure their passage and corral their prey to seek shelter from the elements, only for their prey to find itself with no options to escape when Fury comes around to capture or eliminate them.
When not manipulating storms to cause further environmental disasters, he enjoys observing nature and critters considered less-desireable by many, like slugs, worms, frogs; anything that prefers rain and moisture.
She's also adept at underwater survival and navigation, having been made with Chimaerax's genetic material, who is a primary Makuta for creation and maintenance of deep oceanic regions. Infused with traits of some sharks and fish, Fury easily navigates by electroreception, compensating her poor eyesight.
Fury was the second Shakratu to be created, after Kayos. While Kayos was to be the major destructive force, an unstoppable one-man army for the Brotherhood, Fury was made with a more defensive focus rather than pure carnage. Their weapon of choice is a guardsaber, a blade with a built-in hybrid kanoka/rhotuka launcher, that extends their ability to weather the incoming assaults, as well as potentially protect others.
Fury has enjoyed their rivalry with Kayos, which led the two to develop begrudging respect and friendship-with-benefits. Fury was one of the first lovers who did not submit to Kayos's domineering presence, managing to come out on top in their frustrated sexual struggle. It was an enlightening experience for both of them.

Fuck it, Possessed qPhil headcanons
It starts out slow. Little quirks that pop up or intensify and sail over his head. They're harmless, or seem justified after all. Like his impulses to steal shiny or neat things activating more often. His aggression towards threats like the Purgatory workers or Feds growing to proportions usually unlike him. It flies under his radar, and under the radar of everyone closest to him. Ender King is methodical and careful with the start of it all, and it works. His influence begins to fester inside Phil more and more over time.
The process of the possession is the worst part. It stings like dragon's breath. Every nerve in his body is on fire, his wings in ten times the agony as they're already so sore. His eyes flash between their usual ocean blue and a fierce, foreign, violent purple. Blink and you'll miss it, but his pupils occasionally thin into draconic slits. The hallucinations get worse, so much worse, and so much more vivid. He loses track of time so easily, hours worth of it. The progression is convincingly sentient, it strikes when he's alone like it KNOWS he's vulnerable and there's no one around to witness the way it tortures him, temporarily immobilizing him as every inch of his body burns and aches like it's soaking in acid. His own tears start to vaguely sting and splashing his face with cold water in an attempt to ground himself is a MISTAKE. Oh god, he's in so, so much pain... And that's what makes him succumb in the end. He can't take the burning of his wings anymore.
He feels.. so.. hollow. So empty inside. Like this deep, inconceivable void has opened up inside him and is devouring every inch of his being until nothing is left. And... it feels so right. It feels so deserved...
No, this is definitely deserved. All that guilt he felt before is gone. That must mean this is him finally being punished for all his failures, right? For being so weak?
He doesn't want help, he's perfectly fine. Why are you looking at him like that? Please, as if you could do anything about this anyway. Don't make him roll his eyes. You couldn't fix this even if he let you. You think you stand a chance against him, The Angel of Death? You'd never win.
His temper is so unstable. He snaps at people he'd never snap at. He yells, he never yells unless it's in jest or at the Feds. He lashes out. He'd NEVER seriously lay a hand on any of the others. He'd never so much as genuinely threaten them. What's come over him? And why won't he answer the others when they ask?
He isolates. He deserves to be alone. Also he can't be bothered with those two needy children, can't a man breathe for a bit? This infection inside him festers more and more, the longer he's away from the things that could tug at his heartstrings or prod at his memory.
So many things have become a blur. Did he say that? Did he do that? When did that happen? What's this "abueli" sign mean? Who's this "Missa" you speak of? What do you mean we're friends? I've never met you in my life. I think I'd remember being friends with a man with a mechanical arm.
The sunlight hurts. It hurts SO much. Keep it off him, keep it away from him, don't bring him outside.
His insides feel like they're withering. He can't eat it comes right back up. Even bending down or moving certain ways hurts. It's like he's shriveling up and decaying from the inside out. No he doesn't need help.
The longer you watch him, the more obvious it becomes that he's fighting a parasite inside. And it's agonizing to watch. There's nothing you can do, you don't even know what's wrong with him, and he won't tell you. But he can't hide the way he's losing control of himself. It feels like you're watching him die right in front of you. The immortal you've always thought of as both an unstoppable force and unmovable object. Dying.
The moments of clarity are the worst. The way awareness hits him like a brick. He's abandoned Chayanne and Tallulah for who knows how long. Has someone taken them under their care in his absence? His friends have seen him in such a pathetic, terrifying, unsavable state. He's mortified. Has he hurt anyone? What destruction has he wrought? Where has he been? How long has it been since he was last in control of himself?
He can't bear looking people in they eyes anymore. Even looking them in the face is a challenge. It borderline disgusts him. It makes him viscerally uncomfortable.
He's terrified to see his reflection. He knows the changes aren't all in his head. They aren't just behavioral.
Something startles him. Suddenly he's on the roof of the nearest building, or in a tree. But... he didn't shoot his grappling squawk. He didn't even have the tool in his hand. Did he just.. teleport?
He doesn't startle again. He is no longer flight, he was never freeze. He is always fight. Even when it's unnecessary, even when it's an ally that surprised him, he swings. He almost immediately comes to his senses every time & quickly moves so he misses. But there's no mistaking that those swings are intended to be precise and lethal.
His vision starts to change, like the way the world looks when you possess an enderman in spectator mode. It's a gamble if his vision is normal or not every time he wakes up.
Eventually he stops sleeping though. And stops talking to Rose. Stops showing up at the Sanctuary. Chayanne & Tallulah keep going though. They've been talking to her, desperate to find a way to bring their Papa back into control for good.
He stops eating too. Ender King He doesn't need to. He's slowly becoming a skeleton of himself. How.. ironic, given the Ender King's state last Phil saw it in person.
It's convenient that depriving Phil of sustenance and sleep makes him weak enough to keep controlling with ease. :) It keeps him too weak to resist. :)
Phil always has a shred of awareness of his situation and surroundings even when Ender King has full control. He knows the harm being carried out by his hands. He knows the vile things being said with his tongue. The guilt is so unbearable. He wants it to stop. But he's so weak. And this is his punishment for being weak. He doesn't deserve to break free of this possession until he can do it himself. But the longer he stays under, the weaker he gets...
The longer he's subdued, the more convinced he becomes that this is deserved, escape is futile, all is lost and it's hopeless. But is that him thinking that, or one of the many ways EK is keeping him complacent? Preying upon his insecurities and flaws. Stupid greedy insecure old crow.

oh yet another good purgatory moment i rediscovered earlier today, and i'm willing to bet i said something about this when it first happened, but day 3 i believe when tubbo came to bolas spawn and was chatting with foolish and asked to borrow their enchanting table and foolish was dodging the FUCK out of the question and refusing to clarify if they even had an enchanting table, meanwhile tubbo's noticing the evasions and calling them out
like foolish goes "idek how to make an enchanting table" and tubbo goes "so you do have one, but you didn't make it" and foolish goes "well i didn't SAY that" and they go back and forth and then foolish goes "listen i don't see an enchanting table in [the hole in the wall that is the bolas base]" and philza like stifles a giggle bc he has the enchanting table in his inventory rn and foolish def knows it
like the fucking mental chess that they're both playing like a fucking unstoppable force vs immovable object type beat. trickster meets trickster. every time i see that conversation i want to take notes holy shit. a dishonest person who never tells lies meets a guy who knows his tactics and unlike badboyhalo doesn't join the dance but smashes through the wall like a goddamn sledgehammer. i LOVE THAT SHIT it was like that time tubbo went circles around cucurucho the first time they met or whatever. amazing. 10/10
i'm also thinking about this now bc i noticed jaiden doing it too, on day 4 during all the spawnkilling (yes i watched that vod again lmfao it's too good not to). like when pierre is taking her over to the green base and she stops herself when saying "it's time for my revenge on green team" and corrects it to "my revenge on elquackity", and when bbh came back to red spawn to escort her safely to her body after she quickwarped via punching a whale, she didn't say outright that she was going to take him to her base when she started walking, just implied it and then took off.
like goddamn. i love that shit. i eat that shit up. i love when characters are tricky and manipulative. bbh and foolish talking in extended metaphors is an absolute feast for me.

Individual Expression in Spider-man: Across the Spider-verse and the trilogy's introductions:
So knowing what we do about the other protagonists of the Spider-verse films and the narrative format of characters introducing themselves and other characters, I think BTSV will open with Miles G Morales introducing himself as the Prowler and Earth-42. Not only keeping with the tone of the first film, but also emphasising the theme of "Beyond" the Spider-verse. It only makes sense that we open on a character who isn't Spider-man - even though they should've been.
But what exactly would that opening / introduction look like? Well, first we'd have to examine how our other protagonists have opened the previous films.
Tumblr media
When we first meet Miles, he's colouring some stickers, and later, we see one of his hobbies is slapping those stickers around New York. We later learn his dad knows about this and disapproves, so instead, Miles bonds over his artistic expression with his Uncle Aaron. By the end of ITSV, Miles paints a mural for Aaron with his dad but he keeps making stickers, most notably on the clock tower because it's somewhere his dad won't find it (and doesn't know he's Spider-man).
Tumblr media
Gwen opens ATSV by drumming and saying she, "didn't join a band to talk about my feelings, I joined a band to hit my feelings with sticks". She also talks about never finding the right band. When she meets Miguel and Jess, her mind flashes to drumming because she thinks she's found her band, and by the end she decides instead of joining a band she just make her own by siding with the people who want to save Miles.
In both films we see this is how these protagonists leave a mark on their environment. It's how they want to live with "no expectations" like ITSV implicates through Miles and Aaron's mural.
Tumblr media
Gwen's drumming is a cry to be heard, and her dad quits the police force after listening halfway through her speech.
Tumblr media
Miles' stickers are a cry to be seen, and reveals his identity to Rio before showing her his graffitied Spider-man icon (even though it backfires).
It's not just an artistic expression it's also in the way they do their hobbies - Gwen hits her drums, Miles slaps stickers...
So what is Miles G Morales' cry?
Tumblr media
Ever since ITSV, Aaron's punching bag has become a subject of interest. When we first see it, Miles is playfully punching it - Aaron even holds it steady for him.
Tumblr media
Later on, we see Miles tie up Peter B. Parker on it, and this scene is later paralleled with how Miles G Morales ties up Miles in ATSV. This works because it shows us how like Peter in the first film, Miles is now the Spider-man in the wrong dimension and how the tragedy of this Miles has gone from a likewise bright-eyed, clumsy awkward kid to a hardened but equally lost teenager. Finally, in both scenes, Miles and Peter make an attempt to break free of their bonds.
Tumblr media
As unfortunate as it is, I don't think we're going to see an updated version of the 2020 test movement in the next film. Even though it looks amazing, that was a character exploration and not actually supposed to be in the final cut of the film.
Aaron punches the bag when Miles believes he doesn't want to be the Prowler. And that may be true. But either way, Aaron views the Prowler identity as a necessity to the stability and protection of his and Miles G's family.
Tumblr media
But Miles doesn't understand that. At least not yet.
For Miles, the Prowler was an unstoppable force of nature that literally hunted him until Aaron unmasked himself and was so entangled in Kingpin's schemes that it got him killed. But in Earth-42, Aaron and Miles G are "the only heroes in that dimension" according to the artbook. Both Miles and Miles G are products of their environment, but that doesn't mean either is more or less heroic than the other. They're just operating on literally different timeframes.
Tumblr media
And that's why Aaron punches the bag, and its why Miles G puts his fist near Miles' head because they want Miles to understand that no, the Prowler identity is not a corrupt alternative to the Spider-man identity based on preconceived misconceptions. Without much evidence, we believed Miguel was a "good guy" based on his identity as a Spider-person. Why can't the inverted case be applied to Miles G and Aaron?
This is why I feel like in the next film, Miles G's "Let's do this one last time" will be him training with the punching bag before Miles comes to Earth-42. Not too dissimilar from Jinx's boxing-machine scene from Arcane minus Jinx's psyche, but a scene intersecting with current and past events. Like with Miles and Gwen, Miles G training with the bag is his own cry for "no expectations" of being labelled a hero or villain.

"stay close to the people who feel like sunlight"
being a skywalker and best friends with poe...
Tumblr media
Your Luke’s kid and the youngest in your family.
Growing up you were close with your dad as it was mainly just the two of you (your mum was never in the picture)
Like most of your family, you were powerful in the force and in turn, your dad made the decision to train you with your cousin.
You and Poe met when you were kids through a small gathering of such. Old rebellion members would try and meet every few months and it was the Dameron's time to host.
You and Poe were adjoined at the hip after.
You both seemed to fit together like two pieces of a puzzle. You both had a love for flying and both wanted to one day help the galaxy if needed (It would be)
You were kinda opposites in terms of Poe being more impulsive while you were a bit better at thinking things out.
But that was just part of the reason why you both worked so well together.
You’d both stayed in contact mainly through comm calls while you were still with your dad.
Poe thought it was incredibly cool that his best friend was a Jedi.
When Ben fell to the dark side and destroyed the temple it was Poe who you ran to.
You told him everything about what had happened. You were shocked but not surprised that Ben had fallen.
“I Should have seen it coming, the signs were all there…now they're all dead.” Poe shook his head at your words. “No. His actions aren’t your fault. Their deaths are on him, not you.”
After losing Ben and your Dad you stayed with Poe and his dad for a while. Leia would visit from time to time while she was building the Resistance.
You helped gather support.
Eventually, you and Poe made the decision to go and fight in the war. You both took on a squadron.
You were pretty much an unstoppable force together (When you weren't arguing)
Fighting helped you to take your mind off your father's disappearance.
Poe insisted on helping you in the search for your father.
He also stole your lightsaber a few times.
“What are you doing?” You grinned slightly coming up behind him. Poe jumped swearing under his breath before quickly pushing the saber behind his back. “Nothing just looking for my jacket.”
You taught him a few simple tricks after that. He never shut up about it to your friends and how you had let him use your saber.
At times when the war was quieter, you would both go find somewhere quiet in the woods around the base and just sit and talk for hours.
You’d tell him about stories your dad told you. You’d also sometimes talk about stories you’d found out about your grandfather from the Clone Wars. (You spent a lot of time looking at old articles as a child)
Poe would tell you about his mom slowly.
You were each other's biggest supporters and would do anything for the other.

I find it kinda funny how in a lot of the Lupin III animes, a lot of times Zenigata is often times played up for a comedic effect. Or that other policemen that work with Zenigata never really take him seriously because he's always getting screwed over by Lupin and his gang. So much so that it makes you forget that Zenigata is literally the best of the best in the world of law enforcement.
Pops has arrested several hundreds of criminals within his career and has influenced and helped a lot of people with his kind actions. He's also a master at Judo and can wreck someone's shit pretty quickly with zero effort. Not to mention that he's the only one who's able to keep up with Lupin, as well as predict what his next moves are and is the only one who's managed to arrest him several times throughout the entire series.
Adding onto this, other criminals who aren't Lupin or his friends always fall to the Inspector's skills. Cuz he's so damn good at his job that they're not a challenge him at all in the long run. Basically Zenigata is the king and he rarely ever loses, if at all.
Unless it's Lupin.
Like it's so easy to forget that beneath the usual emotional, kind and goofy Zenigata we all know and love, is actually a god damn powerhouse of a man who's a literal unstoppable hurricane. He's the ICPO's best detective they've ever had in their ranks.
It's why Zenigata is the only one that Lupin pays attention to and takes seriously as a rival. Cuz like Zenigata, Lupin's the best of the best. He's the world's greatest thief, an unstoppable force that leaves carnage in his wake. He's left several policemen and detectives and inspectors in the dust because they couldn't pin him down nor keep up with him. Lupin's literally ruined people's careers in the law enforcement department just by outsmarting them.
And then there's Pops.
Pops, the only cop who was able to keep up and keep in step with Lupin and his moves. Pops who's the only detective whose ever given Lupin an actual challenge in his usual heists. Who's the only one besides Lupin's partners, Jigen, Goemon and Fujiko, that's still able to take Lupin by surprise outwit him when he least expects it.
They're both masters at their crafts, the top class in their respective areas and careers. No one else is able to match them when it really comes down to their skills, talents and assets.
No one except for each other.
Like dude it's interesting to think about it, like if one of them were to quit or go missing or die the other would be incomplete. Because at the end of the day, the reasons why their jobs are worth it and makes them so enjoyable, is because they have the other there to heighten up the excitement. A rival that makes the experience of heists and adventures worth while. If one of them wasn't there, then it wouldn't be worth it.

The Finn stole my baby AU
ok FINE you can all have the Eelfinn Stole My Baby in outline form
I've never pinned down the details on this, because I think it would be most interesting as an installment in a larger series and a lot of the details would be determined by the needs of the overall storyline, but this is the vague outline:
1) Fortuona has just found out from Min that her kid's going to be a marath'damane. Because a) SOME IDIOT (maybe Mat, maybe Berelain if they're on speaking terms, there's some other options depending on the scenario) made the mistake of telling her about Sindhol in some way that makes her actually believe in it, b) she's a slut for prophecy and always has been, and c) she wants to explore all her options, she wants to go to Sindhol to get some answers from the Aelfinn. The questions she intends to ask vary by setting but it's something along the lines of how to survive the current situation/protect her marath'damane child/solve the sul'dam problem/ensure stability of the Empire in the westlands/how best to reconquer mainland Seanchan. You know! #FortuonaProblems. Mat eventually agrees to escort her; both to get in, since the only way in right now is the Tower of Ghenji, and to get out.
2) But because they're going in outside of treaty rules and Mat's there, the Eelfinn are the ones waiting for them and they won't let Fortuona go see the Aelfinn (maybe they say that they won't see Mat, but they will see her, if she agrees to be escorted alone. Mat's almost like "oh, over my dead body" but catches himself just in time.) Whatever deal Fortuona makes with the Eelfinn involves something she can use to solve her existing political problems (not sure what this is but it could be something horrible, like a better male a'dam), and something for Mat (maybe a magic replacement eye?). The third item is either something else for her, something else for Mat, or a very thoroughly rules-lawyered escape clause, depending on how confident Mat was/she is about being able to escape with the ashandarai. In exchange, they take her about-to-be-born-child, which she either explicitly names as the price, or is counting on them taking as the price.
3) At least they're not gonna eat the kid; the Eelfinn want a human child who can channel to build them new treaty doors someday, and if the human child is raised by them and therefore on their side, so much the better. They're also thrilled to get another piece of Mat. I figure the Eelfinn would want the savor of Mat and Tuon fighting about this, so while there's a possibility that the world's least hygenic c-section happens before Mat cottons on to what Tuon just bargained away, I think it would be more likely that they don't strike until the price is explicit or Mat has figured it out.
Tuon's like "I understand that you're upset but it's better this way. I came to solve a problem. It's not solved the way I intended, but it's solved and I got you an incredible boon in the bargain. We can always have more children."
Mat's like "Yeah, well, you aren't having them with me! You're a monster for unilaterally trading our child to my eldritch enemies."
She's like "If I'm a monster, so are you. As soon as you found out she would be marath'damane you began setting plans in motion to take her from her destiny. From the empire. From me. Don't think I haven't noticed. At least in this situation, I'm getting something out of it that benefits both of us."
4) I honestly don't entirely know what happens next, but it's bad. Unstoppable force (Mat's desire to rescue women & his love of Tuon) meets immovable object (said woman/Tuon just betrayed him and his innocent child to his worst enemies). Would he just leave Tuon there? (maybe?) Would he try to trade Tuon's life for the baby's? (I like this because I like pain and I think he might be deranged enough in the moment to do it) Would he try to trade his life for the baby's? (maybe, but they wouldn't accept it.) Would he try to kill all the Eelfinn? (yes, and they'd still take the baby.) Like how the fuck do you recover from any of that? And the worst part is you can like… sort of see where Tuon is coming from, if you enjoy women's wrongs? And she really just wanted to meet the Aelfinn and it's Mat's fault that it isn't going as planned?
5) If there's a sequel, it would be the fully grown child showing up in their world with a terrifying knowledge of esoteric ter'angreal construction and thoroughly socialized as a *Finn some improbably short amount of time later. Maybe when Elayne and Mat mount a rescue mission in a few months. Time runs differently in Sindhol if the *Finn need it to.
Bonus: I'm still debating adding a variant of this to the epilogue of The Fox That Makes The Ravens Fly- for one thing, I haven't decided yet if Tuon is pregnant, and if she is, by whom. If I do it'll be Rand who tells her about the Aelfinn & Thom who tells her about the Eelfinn, she'll go in with Thom and someone else (Elayne, I think, in exchange for access to the dice-ring ter'angreal that replicates Mat's luck, also Elayne would love to go on that field trip, although I could see Min being interested for the metaphysics of it all), and the ostensible point is to rescue Moiraine. I think instead of that, she negotiates getting Mat back, at the cost of leaving her baby with them, and resetting the timeline so Mat never died and the canon events where Moiraine gets rescued happen, but she remembers the old timeline. I have no idea if the *Finn actually get to keep her baby, who may or may not be a sparker in this scenario, or for that matter if they get to keep Moiraine, but I bet they'd take the bargain regardless because they invested a lot in Mat & also now Tuon has some weird fucking emotions about the entire life she didn't lead. Also they're the fae, the only thing they like more than bargain eyeballs is bargain babies.

Yandere x Yandere just makes me happy, okay? Just two crazy people willing AND ABLE to burn the entire world to ground for this person. Both equally and insatiably in love with each other.
“I punched this guy that was talking shit about you.”
“I maimed that guy that was staring at your ass.”
And König would know this isn’t how a lady acts. Ladies do not punch people or maim. At least not his lady but there’s still a layer of excitement, of sexual enjoyment of knowing this person would tear about someone for him. Just like he would. It’s different then Engels sweetness and innocence, although those two are crazy for each other. I could never see Engel straight up attacking someone like a feral dog, like König would, if she heard someone talking horribly about her love. Her stabbing someone sent her into a spiral.
Also on my other one, it feels like a immovable force meets unstoppable object. Neither of them is gonna give up their views or compromise but yet they keep coming back to each other like magnets. And there’s always going to be that thought that maybe they can change each other. König thinks if he fucks this lady solider enough, rough and hard enough, she’ll submit to him outside the bedroom. Become a proper woman for him. And the solider lady REFUSES. She loves her guns, the rush of the battlefield. She would never give up the job for anything but it also seems she will never give up König. They won’t give up each other.

Yesss this is the hook! He would try to turn her into a lady while also loving that savage side of her, the girl with a gun who play punched him on the shoulder and told him he was cool.
And I bet the soldier woman would entertain the thought of what it would be like to become his little wife and let him take care of her... She would both love and hate even the idea of quitting her job because some man wanted her to "be safe"...
These two would be a menace together 💞 (I wouldn't want to be in the same room when they're arguing lol)

Hello Smooches !! :D anon again
I've been re-reading ur Pantalone hcs lately (I'm *weak* for Pantalone fluff every time I read it I simply crumble) and now it has me thinking
So we all know how Pantalone is like,,,rich rich right ? So he's probably used to having his way and getting what he wants when he wants it
Hear me out: Pantalone who falls headfirst for reader who's downright *oblivious*
He just hits a whole new level of patience as he tries and mostly fails to get reader to understand that he likes them in a more romantic manner. Expensive gifts, flirty gestures and comments, COMPLIMENTS, the whole nine yards
He finds it increasingly both devastating and amusing how reader doesn't seem to take the hint but he just keeps going anyways in hopes they will someday because hey, it's them. He'll always be patient towards them
(Plot twist they're not oblivious. Reader is just in heavy denial thinking there was no way he felt that way towards them)
tldr; Unstoppable force (Pantalone's affection) meets Immovable object (Reader's denial)
:D ANON YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS BC IT'S THE PERFECT COMBO OF LOTS OF FLUFF + HUMOR AND A LITTLE PINCH OF ANGST SIMPLY DELICIOUS
When Pantalone became one of the wealthiest people in all of Teyvat, he knew that no one would be able to deny him, at least not for long. After all, Mora is what makes the world go round. Even the Doctor has to comply if he wants more funding! Not to mention his other features. But you? It just does not go according to usual. He swears he has it all - money (obviously), good looks, charming and suave, doting + loving (to you only), etc. And no matter how much he flaunts it you don't seem to get the message...
He pulls out every kind of courting there is. Expensive presents, to which when you see the price tag you're like "You shouldn't spend this much money on a friend!" Buying you gorgeous clothes and never failing to compliment your beauty, takes you as his plus-one places and yet you just smile like "He's a really nice guy huh?" Quality time (romantic dinners) Acts of service (making sure you don't have to lift a finger despite not living with him *yet*) He's doing the best he can but nothing is getting through that pretty head of yours.
It's simultaneously hurting him yet also giving him a good chuckle 😔 Having someone who is somehow irresistible to his charm... something he's never experienced since becoming a Harbinger since many people would do *anything* just for one chance with him. But he is a patient man after all, he has a lot of time left to woo you and you will be his in the end 🤭 Everyone else is confused as to why he insists on sticking with you, but they'll never understand the extent of his love for you <3
Plot twist reader bringing in the pinch of angst we need 😓 I imagine them pulling away a bit because they can't handle being loved by someone like him and then here comes the hurt comfort fluffy angst confession 🥰

Dont want to be annoying abt shipping but i am kinda curious if u like fish n’ chips (because of ur rbs) or what u think of their friendship?
i do like fish n chips! and im very not normal about them. every time i think about them i explode into one billion millions pieces because i can't put into words or art what i feel about them because its always not quite right. they're just. you know. yeah. i feel like i can talk about them all day, but when i try to say anything there's just noises.
chip is not beating the allegations, that's for sure. and like. they're very tragic, but they're also not, and its so????????? mhnmhmhm... because one of them is gillion "oblivious but trusting" tidestrider and another is chibo "i will never speak about my true feelings and intentions", and there's so much potential for drama and angst and goddamn?? but they're also very soft and touchy feely and emotional and open and stupid????
i like them as a ship and i like them as friends, both are really good. because they had so much impact on each other's lives and the way they perceive the world around them and themselves. very early on, chip learning that lying is not always the answer and he can't treat people who are dear to him like everyone else, gillion learning that people make mistakes and sometimes good people do bad things, intentionally or not. they're so like... an unstoppable force vs an immovable object, but instead of clashing they're learning to move and stop and accept each other? because they're similar but they're different? and they both put themselves in front of danger, physical and mental, to protect each other...
ugh im sorry my brain stops working when i think about them
