I really despise the Marvelification of Stranger Things, because all the interviews nowadays are constantly referencing how fast paced and epic and big the finale will be but the reason people fell in love with the show wasn't special effects or long episodes; it was the plot, it was the characters, it was the mystery. Stranger Things 1 may have been a story about a government conspiracy and a monster, but that's not why we stuck around. The show can throw amazing CGI, Russians, a battle within the American army and an apocalypse at the audience with the biggest budget known to man but if they forget to ground it and keep it central, it'll just get lost amongst a plethora of other "epic" blockbusters. We want Steven King, not Avengers.

#i think s5 has a TON of potential to be great don't get me wrong #but they need to drive home the characters #make the final fight rooted in emotion not throwing hands at each other and screaming #s4 i think was getting there by exploring max's arc and the hawkins plotline was perfect #so don't take this as me saying s5 will be bad #but s1 and 2 are my favourites for a reason #im just getting nervous based on them constantly banging on about how big the finale will be #ALSO they need to put emphasis on the mystery around will and the ud being frozen #if they keep it central and focus on will and eleven i think they can pull it off #but i hope this makes sense #stranger things #byler #will byers #stranger things five #st5 #stranger things one #stranger things two

can't vibe with the pathetic sopping wet generic sub boy man/pristine feminine perfect goddess woman dynamic people try to put onto every m/f pairing in existence. don't you want something more interesting? characters don't need to have perfect psychologist approved relationships in fiction obvs but it's just so boring. don't you want something in character? don't you want something more interesting?? oh she pegs him? and you write this in a way that implies penetration is about domination and power? wowee. never seen that one before.

#i just think that if you are clearly intending to write a relationship where both parties benefit emotionally #it should be emotionally beneficial to both parties #that doesn't mean ''perfect'' it just means at a certain point i wonder why these two are even in each other's lives at all #fandom nonsense

once upon a time, when I was in the process of calculating death stats, I was chatting with a friend about it and they asked me who the most innocent player in 3rd life was. an interesting question, but first we had to define what "innocence" was.

in the end, we decided that "innocence" was, more or less, "goodness." it was primarily based on whoever had the fewest kills, but to narrow things down further, other factors would be considered. did they ever try to kill people? were they loyal to their allies? did they steal? cheat? grief? who truly didn't deserve what happened to them?

according to that definition, the most innocent player in 3rd life was Jimmy. as you all know, he was also the first one out.

on to last life. Jimmy is out first again, yes, but someone actually narrowly beats him for the Most Innocent Player award.

it's Tango.

and then, in double life, the two of them are soulmates. it's as if the universe took the two players who would not play its game viciously enough, brutally enough, cruelly enough, and doomed them by giving them each other. it cursed them for their innocence because the life series is not meant to be a game of kindness and mercy. it is not a game of making vows with your ally. it is not a game of giving your life away to save others. it is a death match. and so, for their goodness, they will die first. together.

It's about being on the same path and being so near to each other.#and yet parallel lines never intersect. They cannot meet each other despite their existence being tied to another.#I think the brothers tragedy is just as much of a tragedy of parallel lines as is pre-resurrection wangxian.#Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian spend so much time running side by side and yet - they cant close this gap between them.#Even if their relationship never recovers - they are forever tied together through their past. The good and bad and ugly.#All the things that are left unsaid between them. All the love and sacrifices they made for each other that are never shared. Parallel line #I firmly believe any post-canon material that would have them be indifferent towards each other is just...really doing them a disservice.#And dear god the Lan brothers. They certainly love each other! Its a far fonder fraternal relationship than jiangxian (/platonic)#They fool you by having you think they have a good read on each other. Lan Xichen certainly wingmans + advocates for lwj!#But lets not forget - Lan Xichen by the end is in the reverse situation and headspace as Lan Wangji by the end of this story.#Lan Wangji is more free and open than he has ever been. He's in love. He's married. He and wwx are intersecting lines.#& LXC who grew up with and lived the same path as LWJ - who even is said to resemble him visually - his parallel line - shuts himself away #Despite all the love LWJ has for his brother I don't think he ever manages to reach him.

Apropos of nothing, here's my personal headcanon in regards to Mario and Luigi's surname.

Now, it's been generally announced and accepted that the brothers' last name is "Mario," shackling them with the somewhat awkward full names of "Mario Mario" and "Luigi Mario." My take on this is that the family's original last name was "Marianetti" (likely coming from the more common "Marinetti"). This name was changed to "Marionetti" when the boys' grandmother came over from Italy. (A common occurrence in record keeping at immigration at the time. Someone probably had bad handwriting and smudged a pencil stroke somewhere. It happened in my family for sure).

In Brooklyn, their father went by the last name "Marionetti," which ended up shortened to just "Mario," as oftentimes he would be addressed by his surname only. (Think, "Hey, Mario! Get over here!" as opposed to "Hey, Marionetti! Get over here!")

So, the boys are born and get their names. (Their father's middle name was Mario, and so our Mario, being the oldest, inherits his father's middle name as his first name. Luigi's name maybe comes from the middle name of some uncle who is long out of the picture).

So we have "Mario Marionetti" and "Luigi Marionetti." Which, their surname being a mouthful, gets shortened to "Mario" more often than not, just like their father. And thus we end up with "Mario Mario" and "Luigi Mario," culminating in the "Mario Brothers."

#hello there #this is based on zero science and mostly a way for me to explain the weird last name thing #i also came up with middle names for the boys based wholly on how i feel they sound and look written down #mario's middle name would be alphonso and luigi's would be giovanni #but i just looked up the meaning of the names and they're PERFECT for the boys #alphonso being “noble and ready to battle”#and giovanni being “gift from god” which would fit with luigi being the second younger twin #also if these definitions are off forgive me and google hahahaha #but the bros don't use those middle names in real life except to annoy each and embarrass each other #anyway enjoy that little tidbit while i go back to work
