my master list
The first time you had met Felix Catton you were eight, your first summer at the Saltburn estate and after meeting Venetia at an all girls private school you had been introduced to her older brother by one year. Felix was mesmerising, he was like a prophet, everyone loved him, and you felt yourself fall in love with him deeply, of course at first Venetia hated it, you were hers, you belonged to her. But years after spending summers while your own family spent summers in Venice and Paris for business you had become Felixs as well. No jealousy had become between either of them. You had lost your virginity to him, smoked your first cigarette with him, your first line of coke, your first shot. All of your firsts and now.
None of your lasts.
The air was heavy with grief as the Cattons to give the farewell to their beloved. Tear-streaked faces and her eyes swollen, Elsebeth stands stoically, hands gripped with Venetias. The service wasn't beautiful, but nothing could live up to Felix.
You stand opposite Oliver, his face crumpled, gripping the white handkerchief from dinners ago. The room echoes with muted sobs, you stand in disbelief, the last you had seen Felix his gold wings loomed over you, and now they hung from his bed untouched.
His grave now laying in the estates graveyard, six feet under with people who he hadn't met, you run you hand over the temporary wooden cross, his bracelets hanging from the oak, you taste the tears on your cheeks and Venetia clutches at your arm, mascara running over her cheeks, just like yours.
It's raining and the Cattons and you throw Felix's rock in the river before returning to the house. Oliver stays behind and returns with muddy knees, his shirt see through. When Venetia excuses herself to her room that night, you find yourself wandering saltburn in the dark with a glass of deep red wine in your hand, all you can think about is Felix's swollen blue face lying in a pile of puke. There was no beauty in his death.
Clad in a white night gown and Felix's jumper you find your self in his room.
It suffocates you with the smell of cigarettes and cologne. the smell of Felix prevalent in his sheets comforts you. closing your eyes you begin to believe he's still there.
Suddenly you hear a sloshing of water. Deciding that Oliver must be taking a bath you think to yourself, a few minutes go past and Oliver enters the room. He's clad in blue boxers and a red robe, you can hardly remember the timid boy with frameless glasses at the beginning of summer. Silently, you observe Oliver as he moves with a heaviness in his step.
“What are you doing in here?” you ask, you smooth down the covers with your hand, rings catching on a bare thread, the duvet is lumpy and you assume it's from the socks Felix would shed off in his sleep.
“I should ask you the same thing” He questions back.
“Felix was mine first, I saw you crying at the funeral. Like you had known him for years and it's been six months, pathetic really."
You stare at him as he bends to meet with you at eye level, he leans on to his knees with his hands as you turn from his glare. He feels the heat radiate from your cheeks. They're wet, his hand meets your face wiping the salty tears with the back of his hand, rough against your skin.
“Stop it, Stop it Oliver” you cry, your hand meets the small of his wrist pushing it away from your face. They fall to your lap, your gaze following.
And suddenly “Apologise to me” he orders, his thick fingers grip at your chin, forcing you to look up at him. You stare through your lashes, one eyebrow raised at him.
“what? Sorry for what?” you question, your head tilts, hair following.
“Say sorry for being such a bitch to me, such a bad girl” he coos. His other hand stroking at the wetness of your face.
And you whimper at him. It's so delicious, he feels himself harden.
His eyes darken, pulling his hand back. You begin to think he's going to leave but your face is smacked to the left. Heat rushing to your cheek.
“ow, what the fuck Oliver” you clutch at it.
“I said apologise, tell me your so sorry for being a rude brat this summer, make me believe it”
“You're joking,” your eyes widen.
He grips at your chin again, you think it might bruise this time, and as your eyes meet you feel something you haven't felt in forever, fear. Your heart thumps against your chest.
“I'm so sorry that you think i’ve been a bitch to you this summer Oliver,” your chest heaves. Teeth gritting at him.
Oliver, however, doesn't seem satisfied; his grip on your chin loosens only to be replaced by a vice-like hold on your hair. The room feels like a confined space, trapping you in a twisted dance.
“Again” he commands with venom. You feel the grip on your hair tighten and you are pulled back in submission, reminded of the bruise on your arm from him.
You hiss at him as he holds your head up by your hair. “ I'm sorry!” you sigh “im sorry ive been a rude bratty bitch, i'm really sorry” you comply and his hand once cruelly knotted in your hair loosens.
His head cocks to the side, cooing at your disgruntled face “ Got there in the end didn't we?” he smiles looking down upon the soft of your faces, smoothing your hair down.
You nod at him quickly, and your body stills, eyes flickering down, you refuse to hold gaze with him. He still stands above you.
Lips trembling you stutter,“Venetia was right.”
“Huh?” he interrogates, eyebrows rising, intriguing him.
"You really can make people do whatever you want," you murmur, a bitter realisation lingering in your words, the taste of  imbalance still fresh on your tongue. Oliver smirks, a perverse satisfaction radiates from his gaze upon your body. You squirm underneath him.
"Then kiss me," he commands, his tone laced with an arrogant confidence that sends shivers down your spine. It hangs in the air, an unspoken challenge that demands submission. He bends to meet you once again.
You push your morals aside. Leaning in and allowing your lips to meet his in a forced union. His hand cups around your neck and tightens as you murmur against his grip. He parts your knees with his own. The oak bed frame digging into the flesh of your thigh as he runs his cold hand against it.
“Fuck” he grunts. Your breath catches as Oliver's grip tightens around your throat. In that moment, something shifts, and his lips crash onto yours. Oliver's lips mold against yours; it's cruel and leaves you breathless, but it's too harsh to feel like Felix, and the breathlessness makes you panic, not giddy. Oliver is every bit harsher than Felix and it reminds you of how fleeting of a memory he will be. His weight presses into you as you paw at his chest, mewling against him you breath against each other in open mouthed kisses , he licks up into your mouth, thumb pulling your bottom lip down and watching it bounce back in satisfaction he smirks as he peers down on your body hand gripping at your thighs you whine.
He pushes your white silk nightgown up over your hips revealing your pussy,  smiling to himself and dips a finger in your wetness.
‘Hate me and yet you're soaked’ he grins up to you, his cheeks just at your knees, eyes looking so sweet.
He bites and sucks into the succulent flesh of your thighs, you gasp as his lips meet your cunt and indulges himself in you. You mewl your juices dribbling down his chin and creating a wet trail on his face.
“Fucking slut, could Felix make you come?”he questions.
You nod at him.
“how sweet, too bad ill fucking ruin him for you” his hands traces at your thighs wandering up to your hips,
“Actin’ all innocent under me now, i know what girls like you are like ,your a fucking tease is what you are”
He dives in once again and your hand grips at his hair, it's gotten longer. He's every bit rougher than Felix, choosing to pinch and suck rather than kiss. You gasp and whimper as he eats you like his last meal, hands tightening on his hair.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck” you moan, he smirks under your hold, hands grasping at your hips to pull you towards him, you hump at his face and he drinks you up like nectar, feeling the pressure build.
“Mmm, close Oli” you whine.
He goes everybit harder and faster than before, and you feel the pressure snap, you convulse under him. Moaning and overstimulated, you whimper as he laps you up.
His head leaning against your thigh, he looks up at you, bright blue eyes smiling up at you. Realisation settles in.
"You alright?” he strokes the length of your arm.
You look away from him, biting down on your lip before slipping the covers over your body, now cold in the ridiculously big house, he joins you in Felix's bed.
“yeah, no, I'm fine.” you smile at him. Laying down and turning your body away, you feel his hands snake around your waist, you close your eyes, you feel so dirty.
Guilt pools in your stomach.
The light filters through the dark curtains, a curse of being south facing. Oliver lies there cocking his head, you pull on the red robe, smoothing back your hair. as you scurry to the bathroom to wash your face. Hand on the golden door knob you hear something smashing to the marble floor. Your eyebrows furrow, the door swings open and the maid in front of you releases a guttural scream, the bathroom floor is filled with murky red water and your eyes meet hers. Venatias head floating out of the bath, her blood spilling over the bath. You fall backwards, hand clutching over your mouth, Oliver peeks his head round the corner, his eyes widened. You push the door closed.
Eyes flickering to the floor. You swallow. “I think you should go back to your room Oliver.” your hand reaches out for his arm, “ i think it's best i tell Elsebeth”
He nods, you choke back tears. Flapping your hands over your face before calling an ambulance.
Oliver is gone, he left in the morning shortly after Venetias funeral, you assume James had paid him off.
You pack your things, one week of summer left and then oxford university, you look into the room adjoining yours. Venetias, she won't be coming to Oxford with you and neither will Felix, you begin to wonder if you'll see Oliver and how best to avoid him, not wanting to get into the complications of things, hoping you would never run into him.
When your luggage is piled up by the main door, Elsebeth and James stand next to you, smiling.
“You will join us for the ski trip this winter won't you, dear?”
You smile at her, head nodding “ Mum and Dad said they would be coming, i think it would be best if we all spend christmas together”
James nods at you, “maybe we could share the chateau with you, there's loads of rooms”
You smile “of course, i'll let them know, thank you for this summer, amid everything it was lovely” you hand clasps around Elsbeth's shoulder, but she pulls you in for a quick hug, James taking to patting you back.
“Well, I'll message you how I get on at oxford. Gosh ten years have flown by havent they?”you laugh, eyes watering. “Well goodbye, I'll see you christmas.”

IVY AND IRON THORNS
CHAPTER I
a medieval au / sir simon riley x lady reader / 3.3k / warnings descriptions of violence, gore, death, and religious practice / taglist open
betrothed to the prince of a nearby land, you embark on a journey that changes your life forever…
masterlist / chapter II
Tumblr media
Above your head, the sky is deep and dark, the morning stars twinkling as you are drawn awake. Maids hurrying about your bed chambers, packing trunks full of fine dresses in vibrant, rich colors of blues, pinks, and reds. You watch your life belongings stowed away into the heavy trunks and chests as you sleepily rub your eyes, still wishing you were happily asleep in the warmth of your bed and annoyed by the prospects of the journey ahead.
Four days and three nights you will travel with your mother and escort. A long trek to your betrothed and his lands. But it is necessary, every day you overhear the rumblings of your father’s enemies encroaching on farmlands and forests, raiding villages, and terrorizing peasants. This marriage of convenience will strengthen the lands and riches, providing allies from raiders and wars. It is your duty as the only child to ensure the peace of your people and to continue the family line.
“Mistress, you mustn’t be falling asleep now. We still have much to do before your journey.” The head maid scolds you as your head bows while she brushes out your hair. “You can sleep in the carriage.”
“But I’m tired!” You whine, reminding the head maid that you are still treated like a girl. Allowed to do as you please and act out as you want. No one dares to scold the lone daughter, your happiness is of the utmost importance.
“Ach, we all are, Mistress. But you are to be married and become a wife. You must start acting as such and put your childish behaviors behind you.” She reprimands you, tilting your head up right before picking up the ornate silver brush and pulling the bristles through your locks.
Instinctually, your lip pushes out in a pout. A frown forms as the oak door of your bed chambers pushes open and your mother, the Lady of the castle, strides in. Her garments and hair are simple and plain compared to her normal daily wear, she is dressed for the travel and looks over at your dress of choice disapproving.
“Don’t you think it’s a little much for traveling, my dear?” She frowns at the red velvet dress, a gift from your father when merchants from afar visited the castle. It’s your favorite dress, beautiful with fine embroidery. “Shouldn’t you save this for when we arrive at Darenby Castle?”
“No, I want to wear it today. This is my wedding week, and the bride shall wear what the bride wants.” You announce, lifting your chin with a proud smile. Your mother shakes her head but does not pester you further, placing a kiss on your cheek before giving final instructions to the maids and manservants. She departs from the room with one last lingering glance, you are her shining star. The only one of her offspring who’d lived past childhood, she’s been trying hard to hide her grief for your sake. But you’d heard the whispers, her pleading with your father not to send you so far away, and chose to hide away the feeling it left you with.
When your hair is done up, out of your face, and lying beautifully, the chambermaids help you into the dress, lacing it up and tying it closed. You catch your reflection in the looking glass, letting out a satisfied hum, so young and fair to the eyes. It was no wonder that when the Prince first laid eyes on you, he joined the long line of suitors.
“I don’t know how you’ll manage to be even prettier on the day of your wedding. But you will, Mistress.” One of the maids says sheepishly, looking up at you with wide eyes. She is younger than you, only having served in the castle for one year and still learning how to properly behave and address you. But her compliment kept you from scolding her and making sure the head maid put her in her place.
“Yes, I will. Won’t I?” She shakes her head vigorously at your question, before returning to her work and allowing you a moment to take a final good look at your room. Many years had you spent in here: sleeping, learning, playing, and growing. It’s your fortress of refuge from everything, a place you can run to. And you will never return. Even if the Prince allows you to visit, they will room you in the dreadful East Wing where your horrid aunt stayed for so long.
Eventually, as the sun begins to paint the early morning sky shades of pale blue, orange, pink, and purple you journey through the halls of the castle. Down stone steps and over wooden floors to the bailey where the carriage, cart, and horses are loaded and preparing for departure. Your father is talking with the escort, giving instructions for the journey as you approach him.
“Ah, my dear! What a beautiful rose you are this morning.” He beams, approving of your appearance which took after your mother. “And a bride you shall be. I received a letter from the Prince just last night, he is looking forward to your arrival with much anticipation.”
“As am I.” You reply cheeks tinged pink from praise. Though you will miss your home, the gardens, and the grand hall, you are anxious to begin the new journey. To receive a new title, one far greater than you would’ve inherited from your parents. Princess has such a beautiful ring to it– like you were born for it.
As the carriage begins to drive away, all of heaven seems to shine for you as you and the escort depart from the castle. The colorful songbirds singing your farewell, the flowers blooming alive for the spring, the world was awake for you.

Thunder drums out, the noise exploding in your ears as you startle awake. Heart racing as wind howls and tears at the curtains of the carriage, rain beginning to pelt out. Your eyes shift around the interior of the carriage as you try to compose yourself as your mother had, but fear of the storm holds onto you.
The escort is yelling amongst themselves, one of the knights speaking to your mother about what must be done. For the past two days, the journey was passing well. Besides being jostled around on bumpy dirt roads and having to listen to your mother read passages of Latin, you hadn’t minded. And the growing excitement of seeing your fiance made everything fade away.
But the sun has hidden, dark clouds bursting open as all of heaven’s floods fall to the earth. Another clap of thunder scares you, lightning cracking along the blackened sky as the escort pushes through the weather. The choice had been made to push through, you’re told there’s an abbey not too far away that will provide safety from the storm.
Rain continues to soak into the carriage as you move to your mother’s side, clinging to her for warmth and security. She stays calm, praying the entire time and holding you close as the carriage drives on slowly, bumping through the mud and puddles. The horses fighting against their handlers, every time thunder sounds and lightning strikes, you can hear the creatures neigh in protest.
For a moment, you close your eyes and cover your ears. Trying to block out all the noise and chaos hoping it will all pass. But it only gets louder, violent shouts muffled by the storm, the sound of metal clanging and snapping as swords battle. When you open your eyes, an arrow cuts through the curtains of the carriage. In fear, you scream as it pierces into the wood.
Your mother’s prayers fall on deaf ears from God as the door is thrown open, and a man in a torn brown cloak and scarf wrapped around his face sneers down at you. In his hands, a silver blade is still covered in scarlet blood.
“Please, we’ll give you whatever you ask for. Gold, silver, merchant goods!” Your mother offers as he steps into the carriage, towering over you.
“Oh, I know what I want.” He looks down at you, pulling the scarf from his face. In the dim light from the lanterns, his yellowed teeth glint as his eyes trail over you, his face littered with scars and marks from the years.
Another scream rips from your throat as he lunges at you. But your mother pushes you aside, causing you to tumble out of the carriage landing in a puddle of sludge with a painful thud. The cold water seeps through your dress and undergarments as you stay frozen. Around you the troop of bandits are slaying your escort, men falling lifelessly into the mire. All you can see are the silhouettes struggling in the carriage before the lantern is knocked down.
With horror, stuck in the mud, you listen to the blood-curdling scream as your mother is murdered. The sound of the blade piercing through her dress, skin, and bones haunting you before the bandit turns out of the carriage to find you.
In vain, you try to crawl away and out of the mud. But you let out a cry when you put your palm down on the road, snapping your wrist close to your chest as you rub the skin. Everything hurts, everything. Your heart, your hips, and your hands all sing with pain as the bandit grabs at your hair and yanks you back. A sharp cry leaves your lips from the pain as he drags you close with a sick look on his pasty face, his blade pushed against your throat. One slice and you’d be done for.
“Please! Please! I’m too young!” You cry, begging at the final chance of life. Tears fall from your eyes, mixing with rain on your cheeks. And you wonder if maybe you should perish, joining your mother in the afterlife. Even hell sounds better than this misery as you wait for him to inflict pain.
But it doesn’t come, instead, something squelches and cracks. Warm liquid spray onto your face before the bandit drops you, his body crumpling to the ground beside you. Finally, peeling your eyes open another scream tears from your throat as you look at the headless body, his blood being washed from your face with the rain.
You do not look at your savior as you stare at the bandit. Another scream threatens to spill out when the head is dropped mere feet from you. Whatever nightmare this is, you hope and pray you will wake from it soon. Back with your mother alive and the sun shining down on you.
Lightning dances across the sky again, the light strikes and blinds your eyes. The deep red velvet of your dress is ruined by the rain and mud. Your cries are drowned out by the roar of the thunder as you shake from the cold.
In a mere moment, all you had known, the world that had been promised for you had been torn from your trembling hands. God had abandoned you as quickly as the sun had abandoned the sky. You are plagued by the darkness as your mother and escort are delivered from this life to the next.
Then warmth floods in your arm as a man in black armor sinks to your level, his knee digging into the mire. You cannot see his face, the intricate design of his helmet somehow scares you more than you already are. The skull helmet shines as lightning brightens the sky momentarily before he pulls up his visor and stares at you with concern. His nose and mouth are covered with a black cloth, but his eyes are aflame in the darkness. Only softening when they see how helpless you are as you shrink away from him.
Your savior.
“Can you stand?” He asks over the wind. You shake your head, still frozen in place as he stands. You do not know this man, this knight is not one of your own. In this moment, you can only hope he is truly an ally and not a foe.
The knight towers above you, his stature tall and broad, calling to his companion for aid. Another knight in the same dark armor joins you with the reins of a horse in his hand. You catch sight of a crest on the shaffron of the creature, but you do not recognize the marks.
“Help her on while I set the beasts free.” The knight orders his companion. You tremble as the smaller knight wraps an arm around your back and another on your stomach before pulling you up from the mud. It splashes when you stand and struggle to walk, your knees threatening to buckle as he leads you to the mare.
Slowly, you use what strength you have left to mount the horse. Wincing when he pushes you up and your dress tears along the side seams. It’s ornate, not meant for riding a horse, especially since you are not sitting side-saddle. If you were not in such a ruined state of mind, you would’ve been humiliated by your stockings and underskirt showing. But you can only think of how you were still breathing, damp air still clinging to your lungs.
You turn your head and watch as your horses that had not been killed are set loose, turning and running into the deep, wild forest before the tall knight returns to you and his horse. In his hand, he holds a torn piece of the carriage curtain and throws it over your lap to warm you, your cloak doing nothing to fight against the rain and cold.
When he mounts the horse, saddling behind you, reality finally dawns on you. They’re taking you away. You’re being taken away by strangers, away from your escort, your mother, your life!
“No, no. Please, I can’t leave her! Don’t take me away from her!” You twist to look at the knight, pounding your fists into the metal of his chest plate. Wincing with every hit as your right wrist continues to sting. “Please! She’s my mother! She’s a baroness, a lady, a woman of God, she deserves a burial!”
“There is nothing we can do for her.” He states, flipping his visor down to cover his face again. And when you try to push off the horse, his arms cage you in as he picks up the reigns. “And if I leave you here, you’ll meet the same fate as her. There’s nothing around for miles. You’ll starve, or be eaten by wolves, or killed when the rest of the bandits come looking for their brothers.”
“I won’t leave her!” You cry again, but your pleas fall on deaf ears as he orders the horse to move. “Mother! Mother!”
With grief, you watch as the carriage, cart, and bodies disappear behind you. The forest surrounds you and blocks your view as the knight and his companion abandon the road. With a steady pace, they traveled through the dark thicket, relying on the silvers of lightning as their only source of light.
When the rain ceases, night has fallen over the land. And with the full moon peeking out of the clouds over you, the horses tread to a halt. Your body is aching when the knight dismounts, his boots heavily stomping against the damp grass. He offers a gauntlet hand out for you to take, and just as slowly as you mounted the horse, you dismount.
“We’ll camp here for the night. By twilight tomorrow we’ll reach Tharn Castle.” You blink and furrow your brows. How far had your escort strayed from the main road and their destination while you had slept? The castle's name doesn’t even sound familiar to you as the knight unloads his horse, and to your right, his companion does the same.
“John, find some wood. This one’s teeth were chattering the whole ride.” He remarks, pointing to you. You had concluded that this knight was the leader, he’d only given orders to the shorter one and had directed the party through the forest. Whoever he is, he demands respect and attention from his presence alone.
You stand unsure, your face numb from crying as they set up camp. The tall knight unrolls his bundle, laying the ragged blanket down on the grass.  “Sit,” He orders you, before turning to sift through his pack. You sink onto the thick fabric, still shivering as John prepares a fire for your camp. Slowly, your senses calm down, grief numb in your veins as you watch the two work.
When the fire is crackling happily, embers sparking and jumping, John begins to pull off his helmet and gauntlets. He shakes out his hair and you note how peculiar the cut is. You wonder if you had completely fallen into a crueler, strange world that is steeped with death and knights in black armor.
“So, you gonna tell us your name, lassie?” John speaks up as the other knight prepares food. “Or say anything to us?”
“John, she just witnessed a horrid tragedy.” The knight says warningly, glancing over at you. “I don’t think she’ll say much unless we force her.”
“Aye, you’re probably right, Simon. Sorry, lassie.” Simon, that was the name of your savior and captor. You couldn’t decide if you wanted to scream at him or thank him.
A wolf howls deep in the woods and startles you back into attention. They both notice how you jerk back to caution, watching as you wince. The sharp pain in your wrist has only gotten worse with time.
“Let me see it,” Simon orders you, pulling bandages from his pack. When you hesitate, he rolls his dark eyes. “I won’t bite.”
You relent, stretching out your wrist for him to see in the gleam of the firelight. Deep, purple bruises have bloomed along your skin and are burrowing deep below, aching to the bone.
“It’s not broken, it’ll mend soon.” He tells you, his gloved thumb runs over the skin and pushes your sleeve up further. You watch as he slowly wraps the bandage around, pulling it tight and firm before tying it. “Try not to put pressure on it until the bruises fade.”
You nod, still unable to speak to either of them as he moves away and back to the rations of food. He offers you a slice of bread, but after the horrors you’d witnessed in the hours prior, your appetite is gone. Buried deep in the pits of your stomach that bubbled with sick.
“If you’re not going to eat, try and rest. We’ve got a long ride ahead of us and you need all your strength after today.” Simon encourages as he stands, wrapping up the remaining bread and putting it back into his pack.
“What about the wolves?” You quietly ask, your voice wavering as the sound of distant howls fills the night. John snorts from his side of the campfire, quickly glancing down when Simon glares at him.
“They don’t like fire.” He tells you, but his sword stays in its sheath on his hip for a quick draw. “And after this afternoon, you should know that you’re safe with us. No harm will come to you in our care.”
Cautiously your eyes wander over the camp as you shift down onto the blanket. Simon has stalked to the edge of the camp, looking out into the forest and John is watching you as if you might spring away. The rough fabric digs into your skin and dress as you lay down, but it is better than the cold grass. You are too tired to complain about how uncomfortable you are, and it scares you that just a day before you would have.
It’s cruel how time works. How quickly the sun rising and setting destroys one’s whole world. This morning you had awoke a lady with the world offered on a silver platter, you were ready to be married to the Prince, and to give a proper farewell to your mother.
Now your fate was in the hands of the men who’d found you and whatever waited behind the stone walls of Tharn Castle.

TAGLIST (for this mini series) - @bibli0thecary
Tumblr media
A few nights had passed since your brutal confrontation with Aemond. He remained distant from you, as likewise you avoided him at all possible costs.
Much to your annoyance, the castle was not big enough to hide from him forever.
At times you’d catch him in the distance, a fleeting moment of eye contact exchanged before you’d wander off into the opposite direction. At times, you thought you’d notice him attempting to call out your name, although no voice called for you.
Dinners were a pain. You’d managed to excuse your absences for the first two evenings, stating you felt somewhat unwell, a “dull headache” or a “bad stomach ache” and no one questioned it.
Alicent did come to see you the following day, and she seemed skeptical though did not presume to question. She knew that Aemond and yourself had differences from time to time, although she’d entrusted that you both dealt with it maturely. She knew Aemond grew to become a dignified man, and was certain her son could handle such pressures unlike her eldest.
So she remained neutral, not wanting to meddle if not absolutely necessary.
Aegon on the other hand, had noticed the tension. Although most people underestimated Aegon’s capabilities, the rare times he found himself sober, he was quite observant of people and shifts in their behaviors or attitudes. He realized how introverted you’d become, often you’d have a familiar, warm smile on your face, and now hardly at all or a half attempt of one. He noticed his younger brother struggled to mask the sadness in his face, and how little words were exchanged between you two.
He knew Aemond would not disclose whatever adversity had befallen between you two, so he saw no point in trying to seek the truth with his younger brother. Although, perhaps with you there may have been a chance.
Aegon found himself seated next to you, where Aemond usually sat himself. Although, since the fallout, he found himself sitting next to Heleana and his grandsire, towards the end of the dining table. He masked the attempt, keeping himself busy with discussions with his grandsire, Otto Hightower, who remained unphased.
“So what wedge is plunged between yourself and my poor excuse of a brother?” His hand stretched out over towards your chair, as you’d swallowed a mouthful of the red wine.
“Nothing that concerns you, Aegon,” You utter, a faint smile on your face as you return your attention from Aegon back to your plate.
“Don’t think I haven’t noticed, how glum you’ve become, Y/N. If he’s done something to upset you-”
“And what does it matter to you, Aegon? I need not say it again, this does not concern you.” You cut him off, your gaze piercing into his, as he remained silent. His stretched out hand returned to his lap, as he shifted himself in his seat.
“So be it dearest, but you know my door is always open for you, especially. You know if you need a shoulder to cry on.”
You could feel Aegon’s sly smirk just in your peripheral vision, and it made your blood boil.
In an instant you heard a loud, dull bang against the wooden table, the cutlery and plates clinging in response.
Aemond stood up, his fists clenched tightly against the rough oak board of the table, his head bowed before looking up intensely towards your direction. His gaze shifted from yours to Aegon, who looked dumbfoundedly at his younger brother, as if unaware of any boundary he may have crossed.
“Aemond, my dear-” Alicent attempted to interrupt the tense silence.
But before she could reach out for Aemond, he’d left the table, storming out into the hallway before disappearing.
A part of you wished to follow him, although you found yourself continuing to remain seated. It was as though your body denied you the ability to move, your mind and body separate entities at this point. You caught Alicent’s fleeting gaze towards you, before sighing and looking down at her untouched plate of food.
And not for long, you found yourself again, excusing yourself from the dinner. No one dared to stop you, not even Aegon himself.
Although, as you wandered into the corridor, you were in no chasing mood to find Aemond.
The last time you’d confronted the man after he found himself heated, it left you in a state of anguish, brutal words exchanged which still remained unforgiven.
And again, you found yourself lonesome in your chambers, much to your own thoughts, before a loud knock interrupted.
“Who is it?” You questioned, desperately hoping Aegon hadn’t followed you out.
Although a mere seconds of silence followed, before a deep voice summoned ‘Aemond.’
Much to your surprise, you opened the door to him, not completely, keeping him remaining right outside.
“What is it, have you come to torment me more?”
He remained glaring at you intently, you were unable to decipher the emotion of his face.
“Can I come in or shall I remain a stranger to my own bed chambers?”
With a roll of your eyes, you widened the entrance, gesturing him to enter.
He closed the door behind you gently, as you made your way back to the seat you’d made yourself comfortable in just a few moments ago.
“What did Aegon say? What did he want from you?”
“Oh so, this is all it took for you to pursue me?”
His lips pursed, angered that this was not the response he’d wanted to hear so eagerly.
“Y/N, what did Aegon want?”
His words felt more like a command than a question, his tone definitive and low.
“He just noticed how distant we’d become, wanted to know why that was.”
“Hmm.” He nodded, as he propped himself in the seat opposite of yours, his elbows kneeling down against his knees.
“And what did you say?” He urged.
“I told him that he need not concern himself with private matters.”
Your attention spanned from Aemond and back to the fire yearning in the hearth.
You could just make out a faint smirk on his lips, as he looked down again at his hands.
You yet again, found yourself immersed in silence, before Aemond found the courage to talk.
“I-I have missed you… So very much. We see each other, remain by each other’s proximity and yet I feel like a complete stranger, watching you from the outside, and it’s tearing me up from the inside. You don’t understand, Y/N, this guilt-”
“Aemond, please-”
“No, wait.”
He abruptly interrupted you, his gaze hadn’t left yours, a look of longing in his eye, a hint of grief as struck across his face, as though terrible news had befallen his ears.
“I am truly sorry, for what I said and how I acted. You were the only one that would listen, and when Aegon's name left your lips, I-I blacked out.”
Instinctively, he knelt himself before you, his hands grasping over yours as he pulled them in for a kiss.
“Ooh, these hands, how I’ve missed your touch-”
A half-hearted smile grew on your face, although this time, it felt genuine. Your eyes softened, as you watched him, a tear swelling in the corner of his eye, as he rubbed the skin of your hands against his cheek.
“Aemond, I-I am sorry for how I-”
“You have no reason to apologize for my love. I was the fool that fucked up, you were only trying to help me, when I was blinded by rage. And instead, I attacked you, the only thing worth living for.”
You could feel the small tears streaming down your face, as you lunged yourself closer to Aemond’s face, before kissing him down passionately. You felt his hands reach over to your waist, as he pulled you and himself up to stand, lips remaining crushed against each other.
“You-” He uttered, his hand caressing your cheek.
“Are what is worth living for.”

for funsies because i got covid AGAIN
quarantine is back because y/n got COVID. skeleton house chaos ensues. what happens in those 7 days?
Undertale Sans - He's the guardian of the main door lol. No one has the right to enter, except if they make him laugh with a very good knock-knock joke. Everyone failed. They're doomed to stay outside. No one really knows it's because you have Covid because Sans forgot to mention it lol. You are so confused when one of your best friends calls you to ask you if you're sequestrated by Sans.
Undertale Papyrus - He watched some video of the first confinement and assumed buying a lot of toilet paper was the thing to do. He got a bit confused but went to the store to buy their entire stock of toilet paper. Since he didn't know where to put it, he built a toilet paper fortress in the middle of your living room. You won't have to buy toilet paper ever again you think.
Underswap Sans - He caught it too, but has no symptoms, like most monsters. He is now going crazy inside his own home crawling on the floor because he can't stop thinking about going out. After a week, your house is a war field as Blue had to find new ways to make himself busy. He tried to cook, which he failed, he painted the walls again, but ran out of paint and screamed when he realized he couldn't go out to buy more, he took a soup bath just because he could... Yeah, never again.
Underswap Papyrus - He would not say he's glad you caught it, but look at that, you're stuck home for an entire week with him! He's going to cuddle with you on the couch all day. He doesn't care if he gets ill, at least that will give him another week with you. He's having the time of his life and he wants to live like this forever, watching Disney movies while hugging his S/O in the couch, with a big plaid and hot chocolate.
Underfell Sans - With the fever and you sleeping 20 hours a day, Red isn't sure you're still alive sometimes. So randomly during the days, he's going to poke your ribs with a broom to make sure you're not dead lol. You better show you're alive quick though or he's panicking and calling rescue services. It happened twice already lol. You woke up so confused to rescuers trying to prove your boyfriend you're actually ok.
Underfell Papyrus - You told him no one has to enter the house and it took it a bit too literally. He trapped the garden and the main road leading to your house to make sure no one got close. He caused three car accidents already and a Karen screamed at him because her kid stayed three hours hanging upside down to a branch of his tree. Edge doesn't care, he's protecting. No one will get in.
Horrortale Sans - He's embracing the golden retriever kind of life, following you everywhere in the house, sleeping at the back of your bed, staring into your soul when it's time to eat to make sure you're eating... You barely manage to keep him out of the bathroom lol. Yeah, Oak is a bit anxious about it and kinda thinks you're going to die or something. You keep telling him you're fine but he's not convinced.
Horrortale Papyrus - Your food tastes like hand sanitizer because he's washing everything with it, food included. You feel even more sick now. You're begging him to stop but he keeps telling you it's for your own good. Man... You just want McDonald's right now...
Swapfell Sans - He's using you as an excuse to not go to work with Toriel and he's so proud of him. You swear he's trying to make the quarantine longer because he really doesn't want to go again. He's a bit paranoid about you though. When you're coughing more than 5 seconds, he's running to make sure you're okay.
Swapfell Papyrus - He will call you nothing but "mutant pangolin" for the entire week and will call all your friends and family to tell them you have started your mutation and won't be able to join them for a week. You're going to have a lot of calls asking what the hell is happening to you. Your mother even thinks you're pregnant. Thanks Rus.
Fellswap Gold Sans - He's sleeping in a tent in the garden and refuses to get close to the house lol. You told him wearing an anti-radiation suit was too extreme, but he doesn't want you to contaminate him so he won't listen to you. Wine is maybe a bit paranoid about human viruses.
Fellswap Gold Papyrus - You told him you will sadly not be able to cuddle him all week. He gives you the ultimate offended hurt kicked puppy look. He could never forgive you. He's sulking in his room for three days before daring to get down for food.

Day 469 ~ Jake
The house sat at the top of a steep incline, up a winding driveway that had begun to be reclaimed by nature. Cracks in the cement where little shrubs had started to grow and leaves that were never blown away. Neglected and abandoned.
It reminded me a little of Josh's house. With pristine edges and white walls, coveted by obscure works of art. Book shelves that were gathering dust and kitchen utensils left out on the surfaces as if the owners had just stepped out of the room.
Amelia seemed to know where she was going. "I found this place a couple of months after I moved into Grandma's cabin."
She led me down a narrow corridor, flanked by a bank of full length windows overlooking a sweeping back yard that was shrouded by trees. Photo's of the family who once lived there sitting on the wall opposite, happy faces forever immortalised for no one else to ever see.
"I hit every house within a 10 mile radius. Looking for supplies, anything that I could use. Food, toiletries. And I was about to leave when I noticed this..."
She stopped at the end of the corridor, leaning against a nondescript door. Her face sincere as she ran hands up my arms, coming to rest around my shoulders.
"We have to take whatever joy we can find in this world." She said, "And if we're lucky, we'll take back some of the joys we had before."
I'd known nothing but joy since I'd almost died. There wasn't a single moment I'd had with her that hadn't made me question whether I would take any of it back to have the world filled with every other person I'd ever loved again.
It was something I'd wrestled with. The notion that I could happily exist in a world I'd come to hate simply because she was in it with me. I was thinking about Josh again when she opened the door, simply because I'd been reminded of him. And the certainty within which I knew I wouldn't take any of it back, even if it meant having him back, drew a conflict within the likes of which I'd never known before.
But it was all for nothing. As I stepped into the room she'd been eager to show me, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I loved her enough to never want the old world back.
"Amelia..." I gasped. "What in the...fuck."
Mounted on an oak panelled wall were an array of vintage guitars. A brazilian board 1959 Gibson Les Paul. Shining in the last rays of the afternoon sun. I reached out and touched it, trembling as my fingers remembered what it felt like to know strings. A custom Fender strat in dark red with a black mottled pattern that looked like spilled paint if you looked too closely. A plain red stratocaster and an acoustic Martin dreadnought with a mahogany neck.
"I know that you said you didn't play anymore. Not without your brothers. But I think you should play again. For them. To them. And maybe somehow, I don't know how insane it might be, but maybe they'll hear you. Wherever they are..."
She was nervous. Biting her lip and wringing her hands in the sleeves of her sweater. Anticipating that I'd reject the sweetness of her idea, of this perfect gift.
"You brought me here because you knew that I would love it, didn't you?" I asked, although it wasn't really a question.
"Is that so bad?" She replied, opening her arms as if I would somehow be mad at her.
The room was decked out with framed vinyls. Some were so old I'd never seen them before. There were a few more guitars leaned up against the opposite wall and a beaten up drum kit in the window. It looked as if it had been played to death, with the cymbals hanging off and the kick drum looked as if one more pound on it would tear it right in half.
"It's not bad at all, why would you think that?" I pulled her into me, her little body slotting into my embrace like it had always meant to be there. "Just because I said I didn't play anymore doesn't mean I wouldn't love this."
She rested her head against my shoulder. Let me sway her back and forth a little. Everything was so eerily quiet. Up here the wind howled a little more than it did around the cabin. It sounded like ghosts were singing to us, begging me to pick up one of those fine old ladies.
"Maybe I'm selfish. Maybe I just wanted to hear you for myself." She looked up at me, resting her lips on my jawline.
"Plenty have paid for the privilege." I replied, "What will you pay me for a private show?"
She raised an eyebrow. "I saved your life. This is you paying me, sweet thing."
She laughed and buried her face into my neck, kissing me there and holding me tight around my waist. Familiar and wholesome. Like she hadn't tried to push me away at all in the beginning.
She was the most incredible woman I had ever known. Her fears were like shadows now, she had this uncanny ability to turn them into her most beloved passions. Once she had been afraid to love me. And now, the ways in which she loved me were making me feel unworthy of it.
"Sometimes I don't think you realise how much you saved me." I told her, casting my eye on the acoustic. "Not just from that car wreck. But from a life of misery."
Of course I would play for her. If not her, then nobody. She made herself comfortable on a shaggy looking bean bag, folding herself into it and resting her head against her curled fist as she regarded me. I pulled the mahogany acoustic down from the wall, not wanting to tend to wires and amps just yet.
I considered coming up with something on the fly, but it had been so long since I had tinkered with strings that my mind began to wander so far away I couldn't make them work. I strummed a little, hearing the notes play out and something weird happened. I thought I'd never feel this ever again, this visceral wave that washed over me to the point of almost growing hard as I felt the back of the guitar against my groin.
Her eyes widened. She wasn't prepared.
"How does it make you feel, to have an audience again?" She asked softly, seductively.
The strings needed tuning a little. I turned the keys at the top of the neck, plucking out chords until they sounded pitch perfect.
"Sexy." I replied, "I always felt sexy whenever I went out on stage. They made me feel sexy. Kinda the same way you are now. Knowing they want to fuck you every time you play for them."
I didn't realise how much I missed the adrenaline. The feral cries of a crowd. Their voices rising in unison. Lights and screaming and the feeling that I might ascend with their love. I'd been someone in my life before. I'd known what it felt like to open my eyes and know I was doing something I loved completely. I hadn't felt like this in what felt like a life time.
"This is who you are, Jake." She uttered, sliding her hand down the curve of her hips. "You can't run from who you are forever."
I felt as if I didn't deserve her. For all she had done for me, for how incredible she was. There was no crowd that could ever compare to the way I felt in that moment playing for her.
"I can't sing our songs like Josh could." I confessed, "I'd be a poor imitation. But I'll try."
I couldn't hold the same power with my voice that my brother could. The part of me that had promised never to play again still sat in the shadows whispering to me that it would never be the same. But louder than that was Amelia's face watching me strum out the first chords of a song that meant everything to me.
"What's it called?" She asked.
Day 469 ~ Amelia
I knew he would love it. I'd all but forgotten about the little music room at the back of the big house on the corner of the road that led into Lafayette. It had meant nothing to me the first time I'd ventured in there. There was nothing in there that was of any use to me.
But today, it was like seeing the sun peek out from a grey cloud. I'd gone from doing everything in my power to ensure that he was never necessary to me, to doing everything in my power just to see him smile.
"It's called Broken Bells." He replied, "Josh used to say that it was about seeing that when things sometimes feel broken most of the time they're just lessons sent to help us see that everything will be alright in the end. I really wish he could be here to see that he was so fucking right."
What would I have done if he hadn't felt the same? I could feel myself dying a little inside at the melancholy way he played. His face expressing his grief. He played so hauntingly beautifully, in a way I hadn't really been prepared for. He closed his eyes and didn't even need to look at the way his fingers moved across the strings. He knew them, and they responded to him so lovingly. Almost as if they were an entity all of their own, able to come when he called.
If he hadn't have loved me in return I'd have been driven mad by it. Every rational bone in my body broken if I'd been forced to live beside him unrequited. I began to understand how lucky and fortunate I was as he began to sing. That he and I were somehow fated. And it wasn't just a coincidence that he was driving past me that day. He was creation and I was necessity. He'd made music for a world that needed to hear it and I'd treated them when they were sick. And for some unfathomable reason, we'd been left behind to exist together in this empty world.
But empty didn't have to mean broken. There was nothing but love in the world again. Nothing but this painful song that made tears spill from my eyes as I watched him and listened. What if this song was the only one being played? And the only one being listened to? I had hope that if anyone else had been left behind that they had somehow managed to find each other and find love within it.
"That was...beautiful." I sobbed, laughing at myself for crying at it.
He put down the guitar and came to me. Launching himself into the bean bag, the scrunchy sound of tiny styrofoam balls moving around as he wiggled into the space beside me.
"It always got an emotional reaction whenever we played it." He sighed, trailing soft palms down the side of my face. "It felt like people resonated with our songs for all different kinds of reasons. But with Broken Bells it always felt we were all on the same page. All of us feeling the same thing at the same time."
How could I have ever doubted him? This beautiful man with his beautiful music?
"I was just thinking, while you were playing it, that I hoped that somewhere out there that other people were listening to songs for the first time. That they'd found each other and found love, even in a world seemingly broken." I countered, feeling the heat of that familiar rush when I knew he was about to make love to me.
"If they aren't, then we have to love for all of those who can't." He said, trailing kisses down my jaw line.
Sometimes it felt silly. The things we said to each other. Things in the dead of night. In the cold light of day. In the middle of the afternoon when he was at his most sleepy, when he would linger in the kitchen looking to score a bowl of stew or soup before curling up on the couch with a book before he would fall asleep.
Even now, I could feel him nuzzle in. Our bodies entwined on the bean bag lazily tracing his thumb over my nipple as he sucked the flesh on my neck into perfect little shapes of his mouth.
"So, you really do like it?" I checked, just wanting to hear him say it one more time.
"Oh, yeah." He yawned, "That Les Paul is coming home with us for sure. And maybe I'll come back for the Strat, too."
I was wearing the black yoga pants I saved for hiking. The ones that I wore to collect fire wood. To muck out the horses and clear out the chicken coop. I never felt particularly sexy in them, or desirable. It felt almost like we'd become accustomed to seeing each other in our most desolate states.
But when he slipped them down around the curve of my ass and hitched me around so I was facing away from him, I was glad that I'd worn them. The way he pressed his hard on into my back and continued to roll my nipple around between his fingers as he breathed harder into my ear was the blessing I'd needed to know that I'd done the right thing.
We were both tired from the hike. Our bodies crying out for rest. The afternoon sun began to slip away, making room for cloud and darkness. I was acutely aware that there was no power in this house. No electricity. No running water. No heat. It was in my mind to interrupt his ministrations with these facts, but as his hand slipped below, coming up into my entrance from behind, I lost all manner of speech.
"You gonna let me thank you properly?" He asked, slaking two fingers inside me slowly. "Be my good girl and let me show you how much I love you?"
I was in no mood to protest. I watched the light outside fade as he ran stripes up my slit and into my clit. Whispering obscenities and freeing himself one handedly as he played with me. Letting his cock rest between his stomach and the curve of my ass, leaking a little against our flesh.
"Can you feel it?" He breathed, "How much I love you?"
It was all I could feel. There was no house. No darkness. No eerie silence as the wind rushed through the trees. Howling like there was someone out there to hear it. Only Jakes breath, the bean bag as it shuffled beneath us, and the sound of my untamed scream as he penetrated me.
He didn't try to quieten me. Buffeting my wild moans with deep thrusts that came like chasms to break me in half. Each time he bottomed out, he savoured it. Taking the briefest of moments to feel me clenched around him before pulling back slowly. The need to fuck and the need to sleep battling it out for supremacy.
"Pretty fucking grateful, aren't you?" I replied, leaning my head back into his waiting mouth.
When he was like this, all in need and eager to satisfy any way that he could, I often thought back to how it had been that first time. On the ground in the mud, knees caked in it and the earth beating in time with us. And how in the time since, we'd leisurely made love on the kitchen floor some mornings. In the shower, just stroking each other to pass the time. Him, on top of me, in the bed we now shared. And me, arms around the trunk of a tree whilst he fucked me from behind out in the woods even though it was still a little cold out there.
"For this pussy? Always." He purred into my ear, like he was serenading me.
I knew that I'd never tire of it. The way he felt inside me. The way he fit so perfectly. I never felt so full, like something had been made just for me. He wasn't just rhythm and blues, he was equipped to make me quiver with the mere mention that he might take me right there and then.
I'd lament it later on. How all my lovers before him had been lacking. How I'd swiped left and right, attended blind dates and settled when I shouldn't have. For men that couldn't make me cum or men who couldn't text me back.
"Mmmmm..." I murmured softly, arching against his quickening pace. "It would be the last man on earth that would end up being mine..."
The gentle laughter that expelled from his mouth against the shell of my ear was like summer rain. Teasing my senses, touch taste and scent. His hair was sweat drenched at his temples, as it often was when he fucked me, and I could taste the salt of it in his kiss.
"She speaks so highly of me." He breathed, "Now let her know no other man will ever have her..."
He would claim me. Over and over again. Even when there was no other to counter his claim. I let his hand wrap around my throat, edging me to the distance it would take to push me over the edge of the world. Thrusting into me so hard my entire body shook. I knew the bean bag had ripped at some point, sending the tiny little white foam balls scattered across the room. But I didn't care.
I'd keep finding them in strange places for weeks afterwards. As he rolled me onto the floor and continued to pound me, vicious and unrelenting. He'd never silenced my mewling cries before, content to let them ring out into the ether.
But not this time. It was like his gratitude couldn't be satisfied until he could hear the one sound he desired. His body raged on top of mine, our clothes half on and half off. His sweaty palm came to rest over my open mouth. Muffling my cries to a dull humm. His eyes silently pleading with me to let them die. And to just listen...
"Hush." He encouraged, resting his mouth against the back of his hand as he continued.
There it was. Against the backdrop of the breeze outside. The sound of how wet I was. His cock hitting my satiated pussy. Moist flesh against moist flesh. The most inconceivable feeling washed over me. This man, the only man that ever was, wanted to silence my mouth only to better hear the sound of my pussy being fucked.
And the drop of his eyelids as he listened had me in another state of being. Half closed and fucked with desire for the way it slipped in and out, wet and completely his.
"Thankyou, my love." He whispered, before he allowed himself to cum.
I was never certain if it was for the music, or the way I let him fuck me. I didn't really care. I let my own orgasm rise moments later, the two of us breathless and spent on the gutted belly of that old bean bag.
Day 470 ~ Amelia
We hunkered down for the night. Choosing to make our way back at first light, gathering all the blankets we could find and sleeping on the couches that were, quite simply, more luxurious than any couch we could have gotten in the cabin.
Jake took the one opposite me, falling asleep first. His gentle snores lulling me into my own dreams. It felt like no time had passed at all before my eyes sprang open, the red of morning creeping in.
I rubbed my eyes and stretched. Taking a moment to recall where I was. This place was eerie, even in daylight. And I wished that there were something, anything...that would remind me that people had once lived here. The ticking of a clock, perhaps. Or the grass being cut outside. I could have laid there a little longer, still tired and drowsy, but I was eager to be gone.
I kicked off the blankets and expected Jake to be laying there, ever the one to wake up last, but my heart fell into my stomach at the sight of the empty couch. Blankets still left precisely where he had kicked them off.
"Jake?!" I called, expecting his voice to filter down the hall from the music room.
Silence.
"Jake?!" I called again, pulling on my pants and shoes as I made my way through the house.
I expected to find him gathering up all the instruments he wanted to take. Agonising over which ones to take now and which ones to come back for. But there was nothing but the aftermath of what we'd done. And all the guitars were accounted for.
"Jake, this isn't funny." I cried, checking behind the curtains like a child playing hide and seek. "Jake, I'm being serious now!!!"
Panic began to rise in my chest. My heart soaring, making me dizzy as I flew through the house. Room after room coming up empty.
"Jake!!!" I screamed, running now. "Jake please!!!"
Had I ever given myself permission to imagine this, I would have driven myself mad. That one day he would simply vanish, like everyone else had, and truly I would have walked to my death in that moment. I had no desire to live in a world void of the man I loved.
"JACOB!!!" My voice broke on his name as I fell out of the door and into the back yard. "PLEASE!!!!"
I fell to my knees on gravel. Crying. Racking sobs expelled from me as I took fists full of tiny pebbles that cut into my flesh as I squeezed. I felt as if I couldn't breathe. My chest was tight, all the horror of him disappearing coursing through my veins as tears spilled down my flushed cheeks.
"Jake, I can't do this...you have to come back..." I begged, broken and beyond redemption.
In a matter of moments I'd gone from waking up, to screaming on my knees. I'd have thought it a nightmare had I not already endured one. The reality of this feeling was one I knew. Only this time, intensified by a love that had known no bounds. I could live in an empty world before I'd ever known him.
Not anymore.

FNAF: fairy AU fanfic of @ayyy-imma-ninja fairy Eclipse
Sick oc, death of a hawk, mention of blood and cuts, some cursing, fairy Eclipse is NOT my character, hurt fairy. Eclipse had used this older farmhouse to keep out of the rain a few days ago, it seemed to be while kept and redone but no one seemed to be living here, the temptation to burn it down was squished when he found a way in and fell on a weird rectangle plastic box with buttons this made the bigger magic box turned on showing all different animals with facts about them he found himself sitting on the soft couch watching the magic box till the storm had passed and he didn't want to leave after that. But a few days ago, 5 humans came and ruined his fun cleaning up the place and seemed to be moving boxes in, they left soon after so he left looking for food for a while coming back only to find there are new humans there again. Eclipse noticed watching from an oak tree grumbling about not being able to watch the magic box.
Are you sure you want to be alone? Her mother asked as they finished setting up the old house for her to stay for a while.
Yeah, I need time for myself to think alone about this and it’s not like it’s forever, and I have the sheriff's number on speed dial if anything happens, and the air here is better than the city-smoked fill poison that has been polluting my lungs lately.
I know I know I just love you ok and you better call me every day! She shouts, hugging her daughter tight enough for her to feel her bones creak.
Ok. Love you too Mom she said patting her mother back trying to keep a brave face as she stood in the driveway watching the red car pull away down the rocky drive.
The loving moment made Eclipse's stomach turn but he was intrigued by the car humans had come a long way with their toys. Watching the big red machine kick up dust. Only for his eyes to catch the human that was left behind, she had freckles like someone he knew but her deep green eyes were different... He waked as the girl waved till the car was out of sight and took a shaky deep breath. How odd for some reason, Eclipse found himself following the girl as she walked into the forest. It seemed the more she walked the shakier she got tell she got to the small creek she fell to her knees, her arms wrapped around her side hugging herself tightly as she bowed her head, short brown hair getting pulled in the slight current the creek had, and screamed she screamed so loud like a wounded animal a dyeing animal something he had never heard come out of a human as she sat in the rocky, grass filled edge of the creek tears running down her nose making ripples in the water. Till her voice seems to go out her back shakes as she sodded alone in the forest.
Eclipse was struggling to just leave her, that scream reminded him of his own. He had followed her to give her a scare, maybe get her to leave the house so he could watch the magic box! but now he didn't know what to do, his wing fluttered as he decided to just leave, but a shriek of a hawk and the sound of its wings right behind him changed his plains before he could even turn sharp claw wrapped around his chest and wings, squeezing him as he feels his wings rips by the sharp talons as the beast wings shoosh around him, he growled his claws swiping at the hawks talons his fire burning the bird he heard the birds shriek of pain ringing in his ears and a felt himself falling with it then nothing…
The girl looks up from her pity party of one hearing the hawk shriek and thrash in on the ground she gets up slowly walks over gasping holding a hand over her mouth sees the hawk with what looks like burn marks on its chest one side of its face and wing look bend in the wrong direction from its fall,  she had heard about the fire that happened two weeks ago but this looks like it had just happened the bird still smoking. A few leaves on fire around it and just looking at the poor thing there was no way it was going to live, but then she saw something lying on the ground by the dying hawk she picked it up away from the trashing bird's talons and it looked like a fairy? This was a joke, she had asked for a sign not whatever this was! But as she looked at the little odd creature that was bleeding in her hand as the hawk went quiet and still she couldn't just put the little thing down and head home, so she curled her fingers around the warm creature and headed back to the old farmhouse as she dried her tears.
Rushing into the house and putting the fairy on the marble countertop under the kitchen light she could see the claw mark on the poor thing's middle and rips on its big wings that she had gently made sure she didn't fold when she put him down, and there was blood on the back of its head, she just stared for a moment taking him in, the body was half dark brown like the bark of a tree, the other side orange, almost like a Halloween themed doll, its mouth hung open showing off its sharp teeth it had claws to match raggedy and torn cloak shirt thing over its top half and dark red and orange striped pants that looked ashed covered and slightly burned. All and all the poor thing looked like a bloody mess she moved to her medicine cabinets pulling everything she could get her hand on out and putting it around the unconscious fairy thing.
Cleaning the wounds was easy with some Q-tips with warm water on them to clean off the blood and gently trying to see if there was anything like dirt inside the wounds was hard to see but her sewing kit magnifying glass came in handy there. Once that was done she put some Neosporin on the wounds. Then whispered cussed out the gauze as she struggled to cut it small enough to tie around the fairy but she managed to wrap the gauze around the fairy's belly and leg from the hawk's apparent attack, it was a little worrying at how limp the poor thing was but it was still breathing. After that she looked at its wings. The edges looked tattered but that could just be how they were there, however, the three cuts from the talons were clean lines through the wings. Digging around her medicines she found new skin liquid bandages and it was worth a shot the stuff was pretty much glue so she gently applied the new skin on the wing being careful to hold the two pieces together and not glue into the table and holding it for a few minutes till it dry and do it again to the other cut on his wings he only ever made a light hissing sound which made her jump out of her skin but he didn't wake. Once all his wounds were taken care of she made him a little bed out of a soft blanket and put the smallest ice pack out of her fridge she could find under it for the head wound. She left him on the table away from anything flammable besides the blanket he was on, since she doubted the bird just burst into flame the odd creature had to be the cause...
“What a good start to this week instead of unpacking and thinking about what little option you had left you bringing a weird creature into the house that you are pretty sure somehow set a bird on fire smart move” she mumbled to herself opening the windows hoping the thing would wake up and flee out the window, cleaning up the medicine putting it all back in the cabinet, she hoped it was something her mind's made up in her panic of the bad news, but as she glanced over and yep the Halloween themed fairy still there. She sat in the dining room, a spot where she could glance up and see the bundle of blankets and the tips of the fairy's wings. She pulled out her notebook mindlessly sketching and doodling as the time slowly moved forward unable to unpack worried shed wake the thing. The clock ticking seemed to tease her about how long she had left here, so she put on some music to drown out the ticking and temptation to toss the clock outside in the yard.
She was lost in her sketchbook and music not noticing the movement in the kitchen as the fairy woke up feeling something cool on the back of his head. It felt nice dulling the ache he could feel there. He felt weak, S-sunny? He called softly before he snapped back to reality with a gasp sitting up quickly only to hiss holding his aching side his head throbbing at the sudden movement where was he? He thought his eyes scanning what he could see, a familiar kitchen hearing quiet music and his hand he felt cloth not skin looking down he found a soft white cloth wrapped there and on his leg, his wing ached, and looking at them he saw cuts and some kind of shiny clear something on the cuts holding the torn wing parts together. What happened? He thinks back remembering the girl and then… a bird? Did he really lose to a stupid bird? He growled Looking over he saw the girl, it seemed she calmed down and was doing something with a book away from him he saw the open windows he slowly got up with a hiss holding his head feeling like his brain got scrambled he fluttered his wings and hissing at the ache it caused no flying yet he stumbles over to the edge of the counter and shouted at the human to come over here.
She almost jumps out of her skin and hears bells suddenly over her music she looks around before spotting the fairy thing standing with its hands over its mouth like it was shouting at her but she only hears bells, she gets up slowly, umm i i can't hear what you're saying you sound like windchimes she said coming over to the table slowly. Then she hears a voice that sounds male and growly “Hey kidnapper can I get some food!”
She chuckles out of all the things to say, well seems you are doing better she says walking past the island into the kitchen opening the fridge pulling out some strawberries and a piece of cooked chicken pulling off a small piece and getting a medicine cup filling it with water putting it all on a small saucer before putting it on the island for the fairy. Hopefully, you're okay with spice the chicken has some heat to it, she said watching the fairy confidently walk over the saucer and sit down to eat, watching her as she watched him. You look like you have been through hell, fairy? She said the last word as though it was a question he looked up at her nodding
Got a name? Or are you just going to eat my food after I bandage you up and leave without introducing yourself? She asked
“You first crybaby he growled” with his mouth full,
“Crybaby?... Where are you watching me?” She asked but he didn't answer her the petals on his head twitched a little which was odd she sighed not getting an answer from him she shook her head no. “I remember reading somewhere that it's a bad idea to give your name to a fairy first and I help you instead of letting that dying hawk kill you. I think it's the least you could do is tell me your name.”
“Eclipse” he growled glaring at her “Zoe” she all but purred happy to get a name for the odd little fairy.
Oh what happened to the “bad idea giving your name to a fairy?” eclipse chuckled standing up and dusting himself off after he finished his food.
“Well I know yours so I think it equals out right?” Zoe asked with a shrug
“I don't know, is it? I could have lied about my name” Eclipse chuckles with his Cheshire grin
“So could I.” Zoe said, almost bopping Eclipse's pointed nose but yanking her hand back when he tried to bite “Sorry, it's just your... Cute”
“Am not!” eclipse shouts little flames circle his balled fist as he huffs glaring at her, her eyes widen but not in fear like Eclipse thought they would but in amazement as she seems to looking him over again.
“So you are the reason the hawk was bbq?” she asked her hand coming closer but a sharp glare and a show of teeth got her to stop moving closer “sorry sorry,” she said leaning back so you are a fire fairy?
Eclipse or black sun fairy take your pick of a name eclipse huffed crossing his arms and glaring up at her
“You don't like humans do you?” Zoe asked
“What do you think?” he growled his wing fluttered and he hid a wince
“You're the one that called me over” she shrugged “If it makes you feel better I won't be here long, so don't start liking me little firecracker.” she giggled, patting the side of his face gently with a finger pulling back quickly before he could snap at her. She backs away from the table as he shouts about how he will kill her as he stoops his foot. Little sparks of fire flicker from his hands him “So angry that's not how you talk to people eclipse.”  she said leaving the island and going back to her sketchbook on the dining table letting him throw a tantrum on the marble table where he couldn't light anything but the blanket on fire, and it seems as soon as she thought that she smells fire and see the blanket has a small flickering flame on its corner and the fairy grinning at her as she rushes over smoothing the small start of a fire with the rest of the blanket really? Really? You had to burn the blanket, not a ‘Please can you come back? No straight to arson with you? She asked, she didn't shout or freak out, just made sure the fire wasn't going to start again before looking at the fairy standing by the blanket looking confused.
“I didn't think about that” he huffed crossing his arms
“Course, so you got me to come over. What do you want, little fairy?” Zoe asked as she stood there, Eclipse huffed and grumbled kicking at the smooth marble table with his bare feet before looking up at her. Can you take me to the magic box that talks about wildlife? Eclipse asked
She stares at him for a moment thinking magic box magic box…., you mean a TV? She asked holding her hand out for Eclipse to jump onto, he stared at her seeming to be shocked that she would trust him not the burn her after he just lit the blanket of fire, he slowly climbed on and sat on her palm and she carefully took him over to the living room rested her hand on the coffee table for him to get off turned on the TV and found the Animal channel, “I would let you on the couch but I don't trust you not to burn it know that you have set that poor blanket on fire.”
“What? But I did that because you wouldn't come! I won't burn the couch” eclipse huffed
“No, you have not earned enough trust to be allowed on the coucaaaieh” she yelped as he bit her finger she as gently as she could dumped the fairy out of her hand and pulled her hand up but Eclipse stubbornly held on like a dog with a rope toy ok let gooooo! Zoe said her other hand coming up gently running her finger down his back making him let go and she quickly pulled her hands back away from the fairy leaving him stuck on the coffee table for the moment since his wing still hurt too much to fly. How do you think biting would change my mind? She asked shocked that he bit her not that it really hurt but he had bitten down hard enough to draw blood.
“Just die!” eclipse growled turning away from her to watch the TV but she noticed that his red cheek seemed to be an even darker color. Maybe he's embarrassed? There was a documentary about snow leopards, and the soothing voice of the narrator filled the awkward silence.
“Working on it, I still need to find a pretty urn first.” she huffed taking the paperwork that was beside the fairy before he could get any ideas. Did the petals around his head just move? She watched him slowly turn around
What? He asked looking back at her, what? She asked with a shrug her eyes scanning over the paperwork in her hands  holding her index finger out to not get blood on the paper too lazy to go get a bandaid right now eclipse growled looking back at the TV
“Awww does the little fairy care about me?” she giggles knowing she was pushing his buttons she watched little flames flicker and die in his hand as he breathed deeply
“No, I don't like humans, remember? What are those papers for?” eclipse asked seeing some big words that he had no idea the meaning of on that paper as she flipped through the bundle
“This is either the nail in the coffin or a miracle, I just don't know if I want to fight anymore. I am tired of this long battle…” she said which just confused Eclipse more
“What do you mean?”
“I’ll spill my secrets as soon as you do.” at this eclipse turns back to the TV “nevermind”  and they calmly watch the documentary about snow leopards in silence telling zoe leans closer to the table her finger gently rubbing the back of eclipse head your head ok? It seems like you hit in when you fell, you want an ice pack she asked as he froze up for a few seconds before he swiped his claws at her finger. Making her pull her hand away as he got up, moving away from her and telling her not to touch, she took it as progress since he didn't try to bite her this time, and she didn't feel a bump on his head so that was a good sign. As the TV switch to a show about sea turtles she noticed Eclipse's head bopping she giggled slowly getting up and walking back into the kitchen getting the slightly burned blanket and coming back without saying anything she just gently warping the blanket around him before laying back down on the couch looking at the tv like she didnt do anything as eclipse looked over at her before snuggling into the blanket. she watches him out of the corner of her eyes as he slowly nods off, she notices that his wings disappeared, must be a fairy magic thing she thought. Once she is sure he is asleep she sighs seeing how he is lying, and gently moves him to lay more comfortably lowering the volume on the tv she yawns and stretches heading to her bed leaving the fairy on the coffee table trusting him and the fire alarms to not let the house burn down.
Wake up to the birds chirp and not the blaring scream of the fire alarms was a good sign as Zoe got up and ready for the day almost hoping to walk into the living room and find it empty and the fairy just be a dream, but as she walks down the hallway she hears him mumbling in his sleep, as she got closer she saw him curl up a look of pain on his face as he mumbled she went to the kitchen not stupid enough to try and wake him by touching him, coming back with a wooden spoon in hand hearing him mumbled “moon, sunny” before she gently started talking to him and gently poked him with the wooden spoon and was glad it wasn't her fingers as he jumps up with some fire swirls around him as he growled his claw digging into the wooded handle as he started at her with red eyes if looks could kill ‘sorry i you seemed like you were having a nightmare’ she watched his huffed his eyes slowly changing color back to orange “a bad nightmare want to talk about it?”
“No”
“Cool breakfast?” she asked bringing her hand closer to him, surprised then both when he climbed on. her thumb gently rubbing his back as she walked she smiled feeling him lean closer for a moment almost relaxed then tensed up and leaned away with a growl she didn't acknowledge that anything that happened but stopped not wanting to push her luck. Just gently put him down and started cooking. Only to see Eclipse on his tip toes trying to see what she was doing. If you promise not to bite me or set me on fire you can sit on my shoulder while I cook eclipse. She said not turning to face him
….
She almost thought he was going to walk away or try and fly down to the floor but then she heard the smallest sound of him saying ok. She was amazed by how warm he was as he sat on her shoulder, legs crossed, one hand holding her shoulder, the other a piece of her short hair, “you smell like a campfire.” she said as she finished cooking
“Is that a bad thing?” Eclipse asked she could hear the smile in his voice as she put him down and made their plate omelets seem like a good breakfast she thought as she gave Eclipse his share on a small saucer
“No, but the ashes and soot that you are tracking around is a problem so you need new clothes and a bath or should I start calling you a soot fairy? This earned a loud groaning complete with his tongue sticking out and head tilting back making Zoe giggle which in turn made Eclipse mad as he shouted about what was so funny. His claws failed to scratch the smooth marble island
She giggled oh nothing just eat before your omelet gets cold she said with a smile the paperwork from last night sitting in an envelope signed and ready to be mailed she was giving this last change a shot because the sign she asked for seemed to appear right when she needed him even if he was a feral little thing…
(Bonus/the stupid idea that popped into my head that made my dyslexic brain spiral down into making a whole character and background story of how Eclipses met her. This is after eclipse and Zoe have been ‘friends’ for a little while and something happens that makes his brothers and the gardener meet Zoe because of course eclipse knows where his older brothers are and has been keeping track of them. I hope I got eclipse personality right and you had fun reading and it's not a bunch of gibberish lol)
Around the table is tarped up, and there is a garden hose running from one of the windows to the table. The Gardner shakingly holding the hose watching eclipses, Zoe sitting at the table looking relaxed with one of those metal flat cookie baking sheets in one hand and an oven glove with fingers on just in case a fight broke out, to hopefully lessen the burns and bite marks if she had to grab eclipse off one of his brothers, though moon had doubts this humans could move fast enough to stop any of them. They had decided to try and talk this all out with the human's help. Inside so no one could fly off or just attack and run as the house was close up and all of the fairies were standing at the table. Sunny had been the one to come up with the water hose idea worried about the house getting damaged. Eclipse moves away from Zoe about to start talking, already moving his arms around a little as he walks closer to the Moon, Sun, and Lunar. The Gardner panics squeezing the handle of the hose only to get sprayed in the face as Zoe had blocked the water with the baking sheet making the water go everywhere but the table her hand moves blocking Eclipse's path as she looks over at the Gardner that had fallen out of their chair in their panic and smacks then on the head with the pan “you want an early grave dumbass?”
“Language! It's not nice to hit people!” Sunny shouts from behind the moon
“It's not nice to try and spray people with water either, it was like they were trying to piss off Eclipse right off the bat.” Zoe huffed, rolling her eyes she barely tapped them. They were fine.
“Language!”
“Oh dammit, this is going to be harder than I thought.” Zoe huffed rubbing her head already feeling like she going to get a headache as the gardner picked themself up of the floor know wet and thoroughly embarrassed
“Language!”
“...dammit a bad word?” Zoe asked confused. angry sunny noises, eclipse cackling and the Gardner is stumbling through an apology.

CHAPTER SIX — Fragile Things
2023
Watching his best friend put on the white and red suit made something stir inside Bucky. A wave of feels — sadness, grief, loss. Steve didn’t have to say it out loud, but Bucky knew. He knew his best friend would not return from this journey. The captain had given so much for the world and lost twice more in return. Bucky knew the feeling well, and he was about to lose more.
“Are you sure about this?” The long-haired soldier asked his lifetime friend with a low voice, almost a whisper. He wasn’t sure he wanted to know the answer.
“Yes, Bucky. I am,” the blonde looked at him and smiled. This time it wasn’t a sad smile, but a happy one. Maybe the first glint of hope in Steve’s eyes since forever.
Bucky didn’t remember the time he was happy, not properly. He had glimpses, memories, that couldn’t be washed away even by Hydra. They had been behind a fog for decades, but after the Wakandans helped him they became clearer and clearer every day. Even through the fog and the decades, one thing was always the center of his happy memories. It was her, time and time again.
Being wiped again and again, Bucky kept a tight hold on those memories. Hydra could take his body and most of his mind, but he wasn’t willing to let go of those memories of her. Despite all, he still loved her, even though he wasn’t necessarily aware of it every minute on the way.
For the first time Bucky now realized, that he could go with Steve. Actually, he had forbidden himself from entertaining that thought before. He was beaten and battered, blood on his hands, everything taken from him. How could she ever love him again?
The more he thought about it the more Bucky realized the choice was not hard, not in the end when he considered the things that mattered. When he let himself think he had a right to be happy, finally. And the thing to make him happy wasn’t here in 2023. He felt empty without her, like his life had no meaning if he couldn’t spend the rest of it with her. Like he’d only live in eternal winter, without spring. A fragile shell of a man just sailing forward without any wind.
That made his heart squeeze in his chest and the yearning to grow in his body.
“What if I came with you?” Bucky said in a whisper first.
“Did you say something?” Steve said, brows furrowed when he turned to face his best friend, who was sitting on the bench with his head low, elbows on his knees — one flesh and one vibranium.
Bucky looked up, and for the first time since forever Steve saw a slight glint of hope in the blue eyes looking up at him. “What if I came with you?” The brunette repeated with a proper volume this time.
Steve raised his eyebrows in mild surprise. Of course the thought had occurred to him, but he didn’t have the heart to suggest it. “Are you sure, Bucky?” He questioned his friend. “I mean, what about- How are you going to explain-“ Steve struggled with his words, so he ended up motioning to the left arm of his friend.
Smiling at his friend, Bucky stood up from the bench and walked towards the opposite wall. “We’ll figure it out somehow,” he said and grabbed a white time travel suit of his own. “I just can’t live without her, Steve.” Bucky looked at Steve with an expression that was full of sadness and hope at the same time. For the first time in a long time, Bucky felt like he knew exactly what he needed to do.
Steve changed his questioning expression into an accepting one. To be honest, he wouldn’t deny having his best friend with him, to help build that life Tony suggested he should get. “Okay, Buck,” the blonde smiled at his friend.
They both felt giddy at what was to come. They would be going back. Back to the life that was taken away from them. Back to the place they knew. Back home.

Circus Freaks
LA Buggy x Fem reader

Previous chapter- Part 1: The Carnival
Next chapter- Part 3
Tumblr media
Previously: Buggy arrived at the island of Febe to raid it. However, a change of plans caused him to host a carnival alongside his circus. Will he hold up to his scheme?
Part 2: First Glance
The fair winds blew across the meadows. The grass danced across the open field, its bristles soft against the skin. Y/n sat underneath an oak tree. It's her favorite spot when she wanted to be alone.
Her adoptive parents were being difficult today. Work on the farm was already tedious and receiving more chores at home was enough to drive her crazy. It can't be helped, that's how things rolled on this island. Work, work, work, and more work. It never ended.
Even so, y/n doesn't complain. The wildlife is beautiful here, it gives her a sense of peace.
"Y/n!"
Breaking the silence, a figure slowly approaches her. Y/n turns her gaze to the voice. She squinted to see who called her.
"Lyla? Is that you?"
"Yes! I knew I'd find you here."
"Is something wrong?"
"No, no. I'm here to take you back home." The woman grinned. It's her sister, child of her adoptive parents. She is of average height, with golden brown skin, and kinky hair. Despite being 5 years older, she acted like her mother.
"I don't want to go. Your parents are being hasty."
Lyla sighed and walked over to y/n. "I know how my parents are, but you're living under their roof. Until you move out like I did, you won't have to worry about the farm chores."
"Well, you're married now. Your husband has a good job and is able to afford a house."
"You don't have to get married to move out. That's something the older generation believes in. You can get a job or go back to school."
"But I can't afford school. Besides, working and going to college is not worth it. The jobs I qualify for won't cut it."
"You can't just stay with my parents forever nor out in this field"— Lyla grabs y/n's hand—"there must be something you want to do for yourself." She pulls her up from the ground and softens her look. "Come on, you're in your 20's. You still have plenty of time and energy."
Y/n looked at the ground. This is a topic she hated and her sister knew that.
"Look I didn't mean for you to mope. I came here for a different reason."
"What is it?"
"Carnival."
"Carnival?"
"Yes, didn't you hear about it? If you weren't isolated all the time you would have heard about it."
Lyla leaned closer to her ear. "And guess what? There's going to be a circus . . . you know what that means?" Picking her head up, y/n eyes widen. "That means you'll finally get to see a clown dummy," she snickered.
"A clown?"
Her chest warmed up rapidly as her heart fluttered. She couldn't believe it. There's an actual clown on the island.
"Now don't get too excited on me. Apparently he's a pirate clown. Strange isn't it?"
"What? A pirate who's a clown?"
"Look I said the same thing, but he's the real deal. Now come on, I'm taking you back to get ready."
She didn't have to tell her twice. Y/n face gleamed as they both made their way back to the town.
.°˖✧.°˖✧
Back in her room, y/n plopped on her bed. She grabbed the rag doll next to her. It is about 8 inches long. Its skin tone white, with bright blue fluffy hair. The doll had on a red jumpsuit with two white pompoms along the middle. It had a little red nose located in the middle of face with a giant smile. It is a rag doll of a clown- one of her priceless treasures.
Holding the doll up in the air, she smiled. Clowns are her favorite. It was the last gift her mother gave to her.
She closed her eyes holding the doll at her chest. Her mother always talked about the circus. She used to work as an acrobat before having y/n. In her stories, she would describe all the stunts she had to do. Dangerous ones that left her right leg damaged and finished her career in entertainment. She promised y/n that she would take her to one; sadly, that promise was broken when she passed away.
Despite being six at the time of her death, y/n remembers her stories. Since then, she dreamed of going to a circus. That dream would finally come true.
The sun was setting. It is almost time to leave. Y/n decided to wear a black above the knee dress. It had long flared sleeves and simple runched bust. Due to the chilly weather, she wore stalkings and platform boots.
The only bright colors she wore with the outfit were her red wine lipstick and nails. Her makeup was simple- her painted lips with winged eyeliner and mascara.
To top the outfit off, she wore the silver cross necklace of her father— paired with small cross earrings. The cross of the necklace was beautiful, embedded with small red and green jewels. Y/n didn't wear it often, but it felt right for the occasion.
She made her way out the house, but was stopped.
"Where are you going? You never finished cleaning the animal corrals."
She turned around to face the stern look of the middle aged couple.
"Mr. and Mrs. Ti-"
"Mom. Dad. Leave her alone. She's worked hard this season. A little break won't hurt."
"Lyla don't give her excuses," said Mrs. Ti.
Grabbing y/n by the hand, Lyla took her out the front door. "Ok nice chat, I'll bring her back soon!"
"Wait-"
"Eh let them go darling. I think we've stressed her out enough. Besides, you know the circus is in town."
Mr. Ti closed the door and gave an assuring smile. He walked to the living room and sat on the couch, his wife followed behind.
"Poor girl. I hope it will make her happy. She's been having a relapse lately"— Mrs. Ti sat next to her husband—"I don't think her time at the cemetery does her any good."
Holding her hand, "She'll be okay. Sometimes a wound needs to reopen to be healed again."
.°˖✧.°˖✧
"Wow, you dressed up today." Lyla laughed seeing her sister blush.
"You look pretty."
"Thank you."
"By the way, my husband is coming with us. You don't mind?"
"No. I like Walo. Being a third wheel isn't so bad with you two," y/n smiled.
The two sisters walked on the dirt road between two fields of apple orchards. The breeze rustle the leaves of the trees. The sound was soothing.
"Look you can see the lights from here."
Approaching the top of the small hill, the flashing lights of the carnival were seen. The small amusement rides held laughing children. The food stands filled the space with its delicious aroma. In the middle of it all was a huge red and white stripped tent. That's where the clown is at.
Y/n dragged her sister, fastening her pace. It wasn't long till both women made it to the front gate. It was larger than it looked. The place was fenced up with cheap wood, but it added to the ambiance.
The entrance fee was only a few berries. They soon entered and looked around the place.
"Hey girls!"
"Walo!" Lyla shouted.
The couple hugged each other and kissed. Y/n only cringed at the act. It was weird to see her sister engaging in PDA, but she can't help to feel jealous at the loving relationship.
"Hey y/n, how are you? It's been a while."
"I'm doing okay. It's nice to see you."
Walo placed his arm over his wife's shoulder and steered the women toward the food stands.
"I heard the hot dogs are delicious. We should try some."
The trio made their way to the hot dog stand. The line did not take long. They each received a six inch hot dog, wrapped in bacon and topped with condiments of their choice. The smell of the sandwiched wiener made y/n's stomach grumble.
"Okay girls, the show will start in 15 minutes. Do you want to head inside the tent or look around?"
"Um dear, I don't think I can walk around and eat this large hot dog. Let's go in the tent," Lyla said barely cutting down the size of the wiener.
They all laughed and followed the crowd of people entering the circus tent.
Y/n followed behind the couple, nervously holding onto her hot dog. She could feel her hands shake. Nothing could describe how she felt. The entrance was dark, she watched her step as her body felt jittery.
Shortly, bright white lights beamed onto her face. The music became much louder with each step. The large lights moved across the space above, hitting the people sitting on the benches.
"Come on, there's still front row seats." Walo grabbed both women and ushered them to the seats to their right.
The place was larger than she imagined. The ceiling held the tight ropes for the show, a height that just made her gulp. Did her mother have to perform at such heights?
On the other side of the ring, a man on an unicycle balanced a spinning top on a large sword. Fascinating to say the least. Children gazed in awe at the man, only boasting his ego. Distracted by the man, bubbles were blown on her face. The woman with a red body suit winked at her as she continued to blow bubbles onto the crowd.
"Ppfft." The couple snickered next to her.
Embarrassed by the act she looked away, taking a bite off her hot dog. Scanning the area, she saw familiar faces and even one she wished not to see. It was someone in her cohort, one that has been harassing her for years. Recently, for her hand in marriage.
Their eyes meet. The man, with long black hair and piercing blue eyes, stared her down. He gave a flirty smile back. He's handsome, she could not deny that, but there was no attraction. People called her crazy for rejecting him throughout the years.
Women around her age crushed on him. He is slightly built, tall, and had a strong jawline. Y/n knew it was also for his money. Daddy's money in fact. His father is known to be the wealthiest on the island. She wouldn't mind being with a rich man, but he's an absolute asshole.
"Ugh, there goes Yasi," she groaned.
"Don't mind him. We're here for you," Lyla assured.
It was then the lights dimmed and everyone vanished from the ring. Fog machines blasted white smoke across the floor. A large spotlight focused on the large curtain in front of the audience.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the best show you'll ever witness. I am your host, Buggy, Buggy the Clown!"
A black silhouette emerged through the white smoke, his boots clacked onto the hard floor. A red-orange hat peaked from the cloudy fog, blue hair swayed with every step. That's when y/n watched intently, the red nose she's been dying to see glowed so brightly with the white light. Star-struck, her mouth hanged slightly open, too captivated to move an inch.
The audience clapped, Buggy roamed his eyes upon the people, feeling the praise. That's when he noticed one person who did not clap for his presence. He felt his blood begin to boil, but the look in the young woman's eyes was not what he expected.
The two locked eyes, his green orbs staring intensely onto y/n's. She gulped, feeling her face heat up at his heavy gaze. Buggy took a note of the woman, her face clearly flustered. This reaction was not something Buggy understood, it was probably his nose she stared at.
The stare down was brief, but it felt like an eternity. Buggy tried to brush it off; however, the woman's undivided attention sparked something inside of him. The clown quickly composed himself and continued the introduction.
"Before we begin this lovely spectacle, I would love to give thanks to Mr. Dun for providing us equipment and materials for this circus."
The townspeople cheered for their mayor, the spotlight beaming over him. The gesture was short as the light hovered back over to the clown.
"Now I hate to share the spotlight for so long, but I needed a small moment to feel humble. But that's over with, so please . . . let me hear your admiration once more."
The audience laughed at his cunning remark and clapped once more.
"Now let's begin with the show!"
People roared in excitement as the lights dimmed once again. Colorful lights flashed amongst the tent. With the booming music, four people consecutively backflipped across the edge the ring. Two men and two women with dazzling tight blue body suits waved to the crowd.
"These must be the acrobats," y/n whispered to herself.
Four satin blue fabric unrolled from the ceiling. Each acrobat climbed and twisting themselves up high from the floor. Astonishing core strength was used to maintain themselves from a brutal fall. The acrobats wrapped their ankles tightly with the fabric and hanged themselves upside down, spinning in place.
Act after act, the audience was amazed by the unprecedented talent. Sure each entertainer gave a spectacular show, but y/n could not advert her eyes from the pirate clown. Buggy noticed this and he loved every second of it. He had to get close to her.
It was time for a small break and Buggy re-entered the ring. "Was that not a show?" He raised his arms awaiting for the usual cheers. "Now, I need a little helper for this next part. Anybody wants volunteer?"
Young children shouted and raised their hands. Buggy is not interested in them whatsoever. He was hoping for his fan to desperately call out to him, but she did not. Disappointed at this he slowly made his way to her side of the ring, faking his watch for a volunteer.
"You."
He stood in front of her, holding his white gloved hand out. Y/n looked into his compelling eyes. The blue paint marks complimented his green orbs. His long bottom eyelashes overlayed the glitter under his eyes. Despite the clown makeup, she found him absolutely handsome.
The clown is obviously older than her, but with age, a new form of sex appeal blossomed. There is a strong manly sense to him— unlike Yasi. His jaw covered with stubble was something y/n never expected to find attractive, but such masculine features is what Yasi lacked. Breaking out of her trance, she felt everyone looking at her. She hated this amount of attention. Polar opposite of Buggy, who thrived on it.
"Stage fright? Don't worry, you'll be fine cupcake." Buggy gave her a playful, but sexy grin. This gesture melted her away, exactly what he intended to do.
She hesitantly grabbed his larger hand. He gently grasped it as he guided her to the middle of the ring.
"What's your name darling?" He sultry whispered.
"Y/n," she replied quietly. Buggy simply hummed at the sound of her voice.
She observed his features in the new lighting, to which defined his sculpted cheekbones. His clown nose hid such sharp features, but she didn't mind. Taking a closer look, its texture resembled that of an orange, very porous. It seemed real.
Cutting her thoughts, Buggy retrieved a white scarf from within his leather coat.
"For this next performance, our little volunteer will be blindfolded." As she began to protest, Buggy quickly went behind her and placed the blindfold. "Have trust in me, I won't hurt you," he chuckled at her ear. His voice raised goosebumps on her skin.
Two of his subordinates brought in a large wooden board. It contained black straps on each corner. If it was someone else, he would have used the good old spinning wheel of death.
With the help of his assistants, Buggy placed y/n onto the platform in front of the board. Each of her limbs were constrained tightly.
Reaching into his coat, Buggy pulled out four blades, holding them between his fingers. The audience gasp, uneasy of the next stunt.
"Is that safe?" Lyla said with a worried look. She bit her finger, gripping onto her husband's arm.
Y/n could feel the change of atmosphere. She grows anxious, wondering what Buggy would do next. That's when she felt a breeze by her wrist, followed by another one near her hip. Sweat began to form on the palm of her hands.
"Two more to go, can I get my blades get any closer to her body?" We shall see."
With a heinous laugh, he threw the third blade near the side of her throat, about an inch away from her skin. Y/n jumped. Her eyes began to water from fear.
"One more left."
The people watching had mixed emotions. Some, like Lyla, could not bear to watch. The other half were ready to see where the final blade would land. The thrill caused a large chant. "One more, one more, one more!" They kept repeating.
Gulping hard, y/n embraced herself for the last throw. Buggy rolled his free hand to encourage the crowd. He lived for this excitement. To add to the suspense, the clown turned around and took three large steps forward. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath in. It is dead silent now. The awful silent ringing filled y/n's ears. She couldn't take it anymore, with her racing heart, an anxiety attack began to form.
Before she could feel a tear run down her cheek, a loud thud boomed next to her left ear. The vibrating sound of metal rang through the ring, followed by screams.
One of the assistants removed the blindfold. The blazing lights burned as she tried to open her eyelids. That's when she noticed the semi large blade right by her ear, approximately one centimeter apart. She took a deep sigh of relief. It was finally over.
The assistant removed her from the constraints and Buggy made his way to the dismayed woman. Reaching his hand out once more, he offered to help her down the platform. Y/n stared at it, not sure if she should. With a shivering hand she reached for his.
"You're a brave one."
"Really?" she murmured.
"People usually scream at the first throw."
Looking away with a flustered face, she wiped her watery eyes, not caring for her makeup. Buggy accompanied her back to her seat. He gave her a handkerchief to help with her smudged mascara.
"Sorry if I ruined ya makeup. You still look cute," he said with a flirty wink.
Taken aback by the compliment, she fluttered her eye lashes to pull herself together.
"Are you okay? He didn't hurt you, right?"
Y/n shook her head. "I'm okay."
Lyla nodded at her response, placing her head on Walo's shoulder.
The show continued with its final acts— obviously ending with a bang as a person was blasted from a canon ball. People left the tent shortly after. The trio stayed behind, not wanting to join the chaos at the exit. Y/n closed her eyes, trying to take in the intense night. Never would she have imagined a circus to be like this, yet it did exceed her expectations. She smiled, thinking of her mother.
"I finally witness the circus mom."
Lyla rubbed her sister's back. "Come on, let's go. The exit is free now."
Before the trio could reach the exit, someone yelled out to them.
"Hey!"
The three turned their heads back, not wanting to interact with that voice. Yasi approached them and stood in front of y/n. He looked down at her with a weird expression.
"What do you want?" Y/n spoke.
"What do I want? I came here to get an explanation about what happened earlier."
Perplexed by his comment Y/n wrinkled her brows.
"Don't make that face. You know what I mean."
"No, I don't."
Angered, he raised his voice. "What the fuck was that about with that clown? You guys were eyeing each other for a hot minute."
Her heart sunk, she didn't think anybody would notice.
"I don't know what you're talking about. Stop being weird." Y/n turned around to leave.
Yasi yanked her before she could escape, ripping the bust of her dress. She quickly held the material in place, hoping no one saw her breast.
"Okay that's enough Yasi. You've done it this time." Walo pushed him back.
"Oh, you wouldn't dare touch me. You work under my father. I don't think you'll like to be unemployed, would you?" Yasi plastered a wicked smile.
"Now, as your future husband, I'll have to discipline you Y/n!" He leaped in front of her, throwing her down.
As Yasi raised his right arm, something knocked him to the bleachers.
"Who did that?!"
Yasi looked up to see a figure approaching him. It was the clown.
"I'm going have to ask you to leave. The show has finished," he said sternly.
"Mind your fucking business clown."
Irritated by the brat, Buggy called in his crewmate to throw the man out.
"I'm not letting you freaks touch me. I will be leaving on my own will, not because you said so."
Yasi bumped against Buggy's shoulder, eyeing down at y/n as Lyla embraced her. He huffed and barged out of the tent.
Buggy tried to approach the startled girl, but embarrassed by her state, she turned around before he could notice her exposed chest. She ran off, leaving her sister and Walo behind.
"Y/n, wait!"
The two ran off after her, leaving Buggy at the entrance of the abandoned tent. Unsure on what to do, he looked at the night sky. It’s a full moon tonight, it dazzled brightly upon his face. The stars shimmered, dancing for the black sky— the ambiance felt different. That's when a glimmer caught the corner of his eye. It's the sliver necklace the young woman wore. The moonlight reflected off the precious gems. He picked it up and got a closer look at it.
It's beautiful, definitely a necklace of a high value. Part of him wanted to keep it for himself; instead, he decided to keep it safe. Buggy wore it over his neck, making sure to hide it under his scarf.
"What was that about captain?"
"Don't worry about it. Just some toxic fan."
Buggy pivoted and walked back in the tent, holding onto his scarf. "Let's go, we haven't finished our closing shift duties."

Ranger Gathering Day 20: Change
Will. Apprentice, commander, ranger, husband, mentor. An orphan and a widower but also a son, brother and uncle. The apprentice of one of the most well-known rangers that have ever lived with a fame that rivals and even surpasses him. That Will. Will No-Name. Will Treaty.
Picked Will for this prompt because, well I am biased, but also because he is one of the characters that goes through change the most. When it comes to Will though I think people focus on the negative parts of change too much. Which is fair, we all love angst. But I think the message of "you get hurt, but you heal and at the end of the day live goes on" gets forgotten a bit, which is a shame.
Sure Will Treaty has suffered from trauma, a lot of trauma. But, he is more than that. I think what makes Will such a compelling character for so many people including me is the fact that he went through so much and didn't let it hold him back.
People focus on a specific point in Will's story and while they do that, they miss the fact that his story KEEPS GOING. He lost Alyss and he will probably never heal, but he can move on. And he does. He is hurt and there is a part of him that might forever feel empty, but that doesn't mean he can't enjoy life. Will Treaty wakes up every day knowing parts of him might never feel whole but he chooses to be happy and to live anyway. Staring at all the bad things that have happened to you and deciding to keep going no matter what is extremely hard but that man does it and if that isn't admirable and worthy of respect I don't know what is.
At the end of everything Will Treaty is a happy man. He is a hurt man AND he is a happy man.
(Talking more specifically here, Will is one of if not THE best ranger in the kingdom. Not only does he retain his smarts and courage from his younger years, he is the most experienced he has ever been and there is self-confidence there he couldn't have gained from anything except the passage of time. Will is at his absolute peak performance wise. YES this part didn't have to be included NO I DON'T CARE!! Middle aged Will Treaty is an absolute badass and I need more people to realize it! Change treats him well too.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright finally talking about the drawing here, the background is inspired by how oak leaves turn red during autumn thanks to passage of time. Obviously I took some creatives liberties with it, but that's because I think yellow, green and red are good colors to represent Will in general. Yellow symbolizes energy and youth in most cases, something that was heavily associated with Will even later into his life but especially in his childhood. Green is obviously the color rangers are known for, a part of Will that's extremely important to him. And red is a passionate, brave and even ruthless color. It is also one of the colors of Will's arrows.
Another little detail I want to point out is his nose!! Look at his nose! My nose bridge didn't develop until late into my teenage years, so I wanted to show a bit of his facial structure changing as well. It's barely noticable but it's there I swear, zoom in.

Indigenous knowledge and food sovereignty on the prairies. Native plants and history of farming in the the northern Great Plains. Maskēko-sākahikanihk (Muskeg Lake Cree Nation), Wipazoka Wakpa Oyate (Sioux Valley Dakota Nation), and Piikani First Nation recent approaches to sustainable food production. Bison grazing and grassland health on Piikani land.
---
Indigenous peoples had lived and farmed the area centuries before European contact. [...]
Melissa Arcand is a soil scientist and associate professor at the University of Saskatchewan, and she grew up on a modern grain farm at Maskēko-sākahikanihk, or Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, north of Saskatoon. [...] Saskatchewan has more farmland than any other Canadian province. [...]
The yard is full of trees, including poplars, spruce and Manitoba maples — the fast-growing hardy species that form a protective wind-break around farm yards across the Prairies. Patricia shows me her vast garden on the south side of the yard. She has corn, squash, sunflowers, carrots, peas, flowers and shrubs of haskap and saskatoon berries. [...]
First Nation grain farmers are rare everywhere. In most cases, farmable land on the dozens of First Nation reserves across the plains of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta is rented out to non-Indigenous farmers who live nearby. That came up as a concern during a forum Arcand organized on Indigenous farming in Saskatchewan in 2018. In forum discussions, attendees resolved to take greater control over farming activities on their lands. [...]
---
Eugene Ross has a slow, soothing voice. [...] Ross is an Elder at Wipazoka Wakpa Oyate, literally “Saskatoon river people”, the Dakota name for Sioux Valley Dakota Nation. It lies at the forks of the Assiniboine and Oak Rivers, 50 kilometres west of Brandon, Manitoba [...].
Entering the plains from the rugged forest landscape of the Canadian Shield feels like dropping through a hatch in the back of a wardrobe. They are completely different worlds. West of the uber-flat Red River Valley, just beyond the town of Austin, the landscape begins to undulate, like a sloppily made bed. From there, the Prairies fold and flatten, roll and settle, in all directions, seemingly forever. Canada has 154 million acres of farmland, according to Statistics Canada’s 2021 census, and 126 million of those are in the Prairie provinces of Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba. [...]
“Our Tylenol back in the day,” he says, pointing to Seneca root. From a ceiling hook, Ross takes down a string of white tubers, each about the size of a big toe: wild turnips. [...]
Production of another oilseed relative, Brassica napus, now the most common species on the Prairies, began in the 1940s. [...] In 1978, this improved crop got a new name: canola. Western Canadian farmers now grow canola on more than 20 million acres [...].  Canola is a cool-season crop that thrives in Western Canadian growing conditions. Ross knows a long list of native plants traditionally used for food and medicine that also thrive in the region. While highly unlikely that any will become the next canola, they could underpin a more diverse farming future. [...]
---
You can see Piikani First Nation from the cliff’s edge at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump in southern Alberta. [...] Today that great green sea, whipped by winds from a cascade of buffalo ghosts and bisected by the Old Man River, is Piikani territory. Noreen Plain Eagle is the land manager for Piikani First Nation and its 106,000 acres. [...]
Food sovereignty is a priority. Piikani’s reliance on outside food became acutely clear in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic when food companies, overwhelmed by supply chain issues, could not deliver their usual supply. Piikani nearly ran out of fresh food. It was a call to action for Plain Eagle. “We don’t want to be at the mercy of someone else to provide food to our community,” she says. “We want food sovereignty.” [...]
The next phase is to build a greenhouse at the school to produce a wider variety of vegetables. “We will use it as a hands-on teaching tool for students,” Plain Eagle says. “Terminology will be in the Blackfoot language.” [...] Plain Eagle also has plans to grow corn and potatoes for the community, and to think more strategically about the nation’s small bison herd. “Bison have always been part of our history,” she says, “and we’re learning how they can contribute to our grassland health.” Grasslands need a keystone grazer, like bison or cattle, to keep the grass in check and maintain grassland biodiversity. [...]

So here I am, writing my version of Red and Blue. How I imagine (really short) the events of the first and second games. As usual, the traditional "English isn't my mother tongue blah blah blah". I'm not a writer at all, this is the first time I've written anything resembling fan fiction. Enjoy
Blue moves in with his grandfather in the small town of Bourg Palette when he's 4, along with his sister Daisy, after the death of their parents. He meets Red, who is the same age as him. Blue is a hyperactive boy who demands a lot of adult attention; Red is the opposite, as he doesn't speak and is very reserved. They complement each other perfectly, and Blue is Red's first friend. They share a love of pokemons and pokemon battles. At the age of 6, Blue tells Red about his dream of going on an adventure with his Pokemon, and Red immediately decides that this is what he wants to do too, and that they should go together. Around age 9, Blue's attitude changes when he learns that Red wants to become a Pokemon Master like him. This is absurd, since only one of them can become a pokemon master.
From then on, their friendship was over for Blue, giving way to a rivalry. Red never stopped thinking of Blue as his friend. At the age of 10, Red had no idea what was at stake in becoming a pokémon master. All Red knew was that he loved pokemon battles and wanted to find ever-stronger opponents to fight.
He never thought a pokémon fight would end his friendship with Blue. When Red won for the umpteenth time against Blue, he didn't feel it was anything special. He was just happy to fight Blue, because he's always loved sharing his passion with his best friend. He hadn't expected to see Blue with the saddest expression he'd ever seen. Professor Oak arrived and made things worse. Blue decomposed, ran off without looking back, and Red heard Blue say something so softly that only he could hear it, "I hate you". Red was completely lost, wondering "Did I do that? Did I make Blue so sad?". Red was warmly congratulated on becoming the new master, and that's when Red realized that this wasn't just another fight with Blue. That he'd just stolen Blue's dream without even realizing it. Without thinking about Blue's feelings.
After that, it got worse, he became the most famous person in Kanto in a matter of days. All he wanted was to go on an adventure with his best friend and live quietly away from anyone's attention, and all he managed to do was lose the only friend he ever had and his tranquility.
It was unbearable, his ears ringing constantly, the noise never stopping, so he left, as far away as possible for him. He left a letter for his mother, he felt bad leaving it, but just the idea of seeing Blue again and having to face the fact that his best friend hated him haunted him, he wanted to be left alone. For a while or maybe forever. Maybe if he was gone, Blue would take over the title like nothing had happened.
Red has disappeared. Blue is deeply saddened by the disappearance of his best friend. He can't help but wonder if Red would never have left if he'd been nicer to him. Blue was so focused on himself that he never thought to ask Red if he was all right. Blue wondered why Red had left. He didn't even leave him a letter. Red's strong, they've always squabbled since they were kids but it's never bothered them before. He wonders if at some point he'd crossed the line without realizing it. The day he last saw Red is a fog in his mind. The second he saw his pokémon on the ground and realized he'd lost, everything became a blur.
After that, Blue took some time to recover. The fact that he'd lost his dream and his best friend at the age of 11 was pretty hard to take in. But when Lance offered him the chance to become an gym leader, he didn't hesitate. He had nothing else to lose after all.
Blue met Leaf at his grandfather's laboratory. Since neither he nor Red had completed the pokedex, he decided to entrust the task to this new trainer. She took the bulbasaur that he and Red hadn't chosen at the time, and it was rather nostalgic to see that this Pokemon hadn't changed since then, while Blue felt that his life had been completely turned upside down since then. She was the same age as him (13). He gave her all the advice he could and wished her luck. Blue hadn't felt like going on adventures to fill the pokedex for a long time.
One day at his gym, Blue (almost 14) met Gold, a kid of almost 12 who had already defeated every champion in Johto.
Gold bears no resemblance to Red, but when he fights, Blue almost feels as if he's reliving one of his fights with Red. He'd missed fighting a trainer with such talent. Blue lost, but he hadn't felt so alive in a long time. The kid was annoying, but he liked him. Which turns out to be a mistake, as Gold ends up dropping in on Blue a little too often to fight and chat, but Blue never finds it in his heart to say no to him. Then one day Gold tells him about a super-powerful guy he's fought against many times before winning at Mount Silver. Blue doesn't pay much attention, as there are a lot of crazies wandering around the mountain, although finding someone as strong as Gold is impressive.
Red doesn't know how long he's been on this mountain, he comes down from time to time to buy food with the money he's collected on his adventure. But he keeps social interaction to a minimum.
One morning, while training his Pokemon as usual, he came face to face with a kid, younger than him. They fought, of course. And Red won, of course. But the kid kept coming to fight and chat with him, despite Red's lack of words. Red learns that Gold isn't just a trainer, but a pokemon master. Red always tries to beat him quickly and wave him off, but as time goes by, Gold develops new strategies and beats more and more of Red's pokemon. Eventually, Red came to enjoy these fights. It's been a long time since he's fought another trainer. It even reminds him of Blue. When he fights Gold... He thinks of Blue and doesn't appreciate it. It's his talent for fighting that has ruined his friendship with Blue. If only he'd lost... If only he could find someone who could beat him. He could find Blue and tell him "I've lost, I'm no longer the master of Kanto".
After a few weeks, Gold returned as usual. They fight as usual, but Gold is gaining ground, the battle is extremely close, the pokemons of both boys one by one falling to the ground in the course of this fierce battle. They're both so focused on the fight that nothing exists anymore! Pikachu is knocked out, Red touches his belt to send another pokemon- but... he has none left. Gold's typhlosion stands trembling in the middle of the snow-covered field, Gold's last pokémon, and it's still standing. Red lost. Gold hadn't realized that Pikachu was Red's last Pokemon either, and when he did, he let out a huge cheer! At last he's won after months of trying. Red doesn't realize it right away. It's the first time he's lost in his life, he... doesn't know how he's supposed to feel. He should be sad, that's what he tells himself, normally when you lose you're sad. But at that moment, Red never felt so free. As if someone had taken a weight off his shoulders. He's no longer the perfect undefeated trainer.
It's time for him to go home.
Blue is at his gym as he should be (even if he usually prefers to wander than work, but anyway). He's waiting patiently for the dreamy, hopeful trainers to show up so Blue can ruin their day (we're having all the fun we can).
"Blue get ready, a challenge is coming" one of the trainers in her gym informs him.
Finally, some entertainment. Blue hears the challenger arrive as he prepares his Pokeballs. He turns to his opponent to quotes his usual gym leader speech.
When Blue's eyes widened.
"...Red ?"

Puss doesn't remember what happened before he got here. The memories are fuzzy and all of what happened is clouded. His thoughts are shrouded in loud noises and clattering racket. His body is in pain, coated in hot liquid fire for a mere second. And then nothing.
And this nothing goes on forever. It feels like nothing has been an eternity. And as if on instinct he finally opens his eyes. The fields shrouded against his back and the soft breeze tickling through his fur. He closes his eyes again. He felt tired, Perrito and Kitty were probably around somewhere. He had no worries.
The soft scent of food tickled his whiskers. He opened one curious emerald eye and sat up. The hedges weren't nearly as tall as he thought they were. They came up to his knees at most.
He looked around and took in the sight. Vast plains of nothing but wheat and shallow swaying trees. The golden glow of the afternoon sun warmed his fur. He reached for his sword, but there was nothing there. Suddenly he realized he wasn't in his clothes. His cat, his boots, his belt and even cape were gone. Along with his sword.
"Perrito? Kitty? Perrito! Kitty!?"
Puss was growing concerned. He looked around frantically to search out his friends but there was nothing around him. He whipped around one more time, but something had changed. Off in the distance stood a big oak tree. Upon a small hill the oak tree stretched high and bent over from age and the force of the wind.
Maybe they would be there? He had to try. So he set off through the massive fields toward the tree. It felt like ages to walk there. But he didn't feel exhausted, just confused and tired.
The closer he got to the hill he realized there was indeed someone sitting by the tree. And he recognized him immediately. Tall, stocky figure, dark features and piercing red eyes. But the tune Puss would usually associate the wolf with didn't hang in the air.
He reached the bottom of the hill and Death smiled. "Look who made it."
"Lobo. What are you doing here? Have you seen Perrito and Kitty?"
Death hummed. He looked out at the swaying fields and shook his head. "They'll be here. Eventually."
"Perfect! Do you mind if I wait with you?"
"If you want gato. You've got all the time in the world to spare."
Puss sat down next to Death and relaxed in the unusually calming atmosphere. "Uh- Lobo, if I may ask, why is it you are here? I do not see anyone else?"
"There is no one else Gato. Just you and me."
Puss looked down at his toes, then to his hands. He sunk into the silence as the words churned round in his head. Lobo was quiet. Content even. He looked to have been sitting there s while just by how comfortable he was. Puss finally looked back up, and caught Lobo's eye.
"I'm dead." He states.
"You are."
Puss looked back at his hands and curls them into fists. "Are Perrito and Kitty ok?"
"They aren't here."
"That means yes?"
"What do you think gato?"
Puss slumped. It felt incomplete. It felt wrong. He knew he'd have to accept it one day but that day wasn't supposed to be right now.
"If it means anything. You lived out your last life well." Lobo's hand reached around puss and pulled his small body towards his cloak. The body once ice cold to the touch now full of a foreign warmth. "But now is your time to rest, Puss. So rest."
Puss swallowed hard. But it was comforting, in a way. He exhaled and laid his head on Lobo's thigh. His paw kneaded the fabric of his pants and he closed his eyes. Death stroked his back slowly and gently. His claws trailed between his ears and Puss felt himself turn to putty. He purred as he drifted into sleep, a sleep where he could stay in this moment with Death forever.

"I want to read it with you! I mean... if you want to, that is..." He mumbled.
His face beamed with happiness when you told him that you'd love to.
So the next time you two were by the riverbed, you leaned your heads together to read that book. You were so invested that you didn't notice his frequent glances, or the blush that reached his ears.
Weaving flower crowns
...under the shade of the oak tree
The both of you had your fingers entangled with flower crowns. You confusedly weaved yours, and pouted when it didn't turn out how you wanted.
"You can have mine." Armin said, and placed his carefully woven crown atop your head.
He snapped a polaroid of you, and kept it close to him. Even though it's a tad blurry, it's still his favorite picture of you.
While you stole a quick nap in the pleasantly cool shade, Armin took your flower crown and fixed it, feeding the wire through the flowers and securing them in place with his nimble fingers.
Drinking fresh lemonade
...and spilling some on your shirt
When Armin caught sight of this he turned the most brilliant shade of red and looked up at the clouds, pretending he saw nothing.
You once clumsily spilled lemonade on your white shirt, and a bit of your bra lace showed through the dampened fabric.
Stargazing
...on the walk home
After all the splendid stars were gazed at, Armin would walk you home to your parent's villa.
You two held hands without realizing, or so you thought. Armin was thinking of holding your hand while stargazing, but his shyness overwhelmed him.
Usually the walk back from the riverbed to your house seemed to take forever, but that night it was over much too quickly.
He said goodnight and timidly leaned down to hug you, then floated to his grandfather's home with a dreamy feeling in his chest.
Both of you laid awake in your beds, distanced by some streets, dazed by the memory of each other's touch.
Being caught in the rain
...on the way to his home at night
The both of you tumbled through the window into Armin's room, hushed giggles of lingering jokes threatening to grow louder.
Wet blond strands of hair clung to his forehead, and he looked down at you.
His eyes were filled to the brim with his affections. Even words couldn't have confessed feelings so clearly.
The deeper you peered into his eyes, the harder you made his heart thump against his chest. Something lustful swam in his pupils, but it wasn't restricted within them; his whole body radiated sensuality, it was delightfully enticing.
Then a thunderclap broke him out of his entranced state, and he receded back into his cute awkward demeanor. Remnants of his lust lingered in his voice, but he cleared them quickly.
"I'll go get you some dry clothes... uh, I hope you don't mind wearing my sweater."

Ten characters of your choosing meeting a bitty version of themselves?
Undertale Sans - Welp. Sans first makes Papyrus freak out by making him believe he's all tiny now. That's very effective as before Sans can do anything, his brother runs with his bitty self to Alphys' lab, who calls the entire Royal Family, who calls the entirety of the Royal Guard to see if any other monsters are affected. When Sans appears and says it was all a prank, there's a long silence, then everyone starts to scream at him as he's just cackling hysterically with his new Bitty. That's a pretty good day.
Undertale Papyrus - He has no idea how it happens but he's too attached anyway after two minutes to ask the bitty to leave. He's going to show off so hard to Undyne. I mean, that's pretty cool. He spends the rest of the day making tiny cool matching clothes for his bitty.
Underswap Sans - He's so happy he found someone who can match his energy, even if this person is just a tiny version of himself and that's very weird. They both go to run in the park and flex in front of Alphys to make her jealous that he has a tiny new cool buddy and not her. That ends up with Alphys kidnapping the bitty and Blue running after her through the entire town to get it back, while his bitty is riding on her head, screaming with excitement.
Underswap Papyrus - He's in awe. He pets his bitty head, unsure what to do with it, and then the bitty just flops in his hand purring for more, looking so happy. Honey is dead. He's never giving it back. The bitty got instantly adopted.
Underfell Sans - Urgh. He's so annoyed. The bitty won't stop following him everywhere, trying to attack him or bite his ankles. Red just wants to nap and keeps ignoring him until he has an idea. Doomfanger hates him. So there's a high chance she hates the bitty as well, and since he's so little, he should have peace forever. He opens the door of hell to his brother's cat. Doomfanger instantly jumps for his face, totally ignoring the bitty. Now Red is on the floor, the face clawed by the feline and the bitty biting his legs, screaming he's going to tear them off. Greaaaat.
Underfell Papyrus -

Both he and the bitty gasp, offended. There can obviously be only one version of themself, and the other is obviously an impostor. Now both of them are growling at each other for simply existing and they won't hesitate to attack each other if the other becomes a threat. Where it's funny is when Red walks in, and sees his brother growling like a wild animal at a tiny version of himself throwing tiny pathetic bones to his face. He takes a photo and leaves.
Horrortale Sans - He's scared. That's hilarious. Oak is hiding above the table, looking at the tiny bitty roaming around in fear. He doesn't know why he's scared. He could literally just walk on the thing and kill it. It just does. The bitty didn't even notice him, just climbing the furniture to eat on the dish Willow ended just a few minutes ago. Oak waits in safety for his brother to rescue him. He doesn't like it. He feels no man or animal, but that thing, it's scary.
Horrortale Papyrus - Willow was wondering for a while where all of his pickles went before he found this tiny version of himself, mouth full of pickles. Tiny Willow growled at him as he started to scowl him and insisted he should ask before borrowing his food. Tiny Willow doesn't break eye contact and slowly puts another pickle in his mouth. Willow gasps, offended.
Swapfell Sans - When Nox is coming home after he left his bitty with his brother, he found Rus crawling on the floor, crying like a baby. You thought Nox was judgemental, wait to meet the bitty version, so much worst than he is. He already traumatized Alphys and Toriel, that's enough! Nox decides to have a talk with him that ends with a deep introspection about how a coward he is for still working for the Queen despite all she did to him, somehow. Nox goes back into the living room and curls up next to his brother to cry.
Swapfell Papyrus - Both claimed to be the best pranker and now it's an eternal war of pranks. There are whoopee cushions everywhere, net traps, trapped sinks, showers and toilets... Nox is slowly losing his mind, falling for every one of them. Rus and his bitty never felt so accomplished before, they're ready to ruin everyone's day, neighbors, friends, family. They're bored and they're going to make it everyone's problem.
Fellswap Gold Sans - Oh god no, there are two of them now. That's pretty much everyone's reaction around them. Tiny Wine is maybe tiny, but he is still bossing everyone around, screaming with an even more high-pitched voice. It's insufferable. Wine never got so many attempted murders in one day. Everyone wants to end him and his damn bitty. Wine thinks it's very entertaining.
Fellswap Gold Papyrus - Cuddle buddy! Coffee is a bit frustrated his bitty is all tiny, but at least he loves hugs as much as he does. They spend the day in bed, cuddling each other happily until Wine, worry he had not seen him during the day comes to check if he's not dead. Coffee tried to drag him in the cuddle session, but like usual, Wine said he has too much work, so he pouted the rest of the day with his bitty, locked in his room.

I don’t know what happened, but we’re becoming farm people. I just spent 20 minutes comparing different kids of manure.
Yesterday I saw that my favorite farm stand had opened for the season and I squealed and Justin was like why don’t I build you a fenced in garden and you just grow your own? A bit later I was talking about quail for their tiny adorable speckled eggs and getting a rabbit just to use its droppings in the garden and Justin asked “why are you talking about quail and a rabbit? Our next animals are goats.”
So that’s what we’re doing, living out our farm fantasy hahaha. Justin discovered that goats eat poison oak and that people pay big money to rent them out to eat excess vegetation and Justin is sold. I’m not ready for goats, seems like a big responsibility, but apparently sometime soon. And apparently their droppings are more beneficial than rabbit droppings, but so are chickens if you compost them right.
Why am I this way? What happened to me? Instagram? I had chickens in Texas and I loved my girls, but I wasn’t this level of obsessed with them. But now I see all these different breeds and characteristics and egg colors and I have become a chicken hoarder. I had to stop going to my favorite tractor supply because I became friends with the manager and he kept getting me to take his store’s injured birds home. So far we have rehomed 4 aggressive roosters (but kept our sweetheart silkie roo) and have 18 total. Three starlight eggers, three buff orpingtons, three mystic marans, two Easter eggers, two silkies, two booted bantams, a leghorn, a rhode island red, and a silver-laced sebright. We’ll get medium green eggs, light green eggs, maybe some blue if we’re lucky. And lighter brown, medium brown, and dark dark brown from the marans. And smaller cream colored ones from the bantam ladies. And the leghorn will lay the standard white you’re used to from the store, fun fact I hatched fertilized eggs from the store once and leghorns are what hatched!
I saw some reel that said that chickens are the gateway farm animal and ding ding ding. Once you have chickens you start looking up guard animals and then you want a goose. Then you go to a feed store and see that they have turkens (naked neck chickens that are social/sweet and are so ugly they’re cute), turkeys, ducks, and quails. I mean ducks are stinky and messy but I’ll take the rest please, thank you.
My grandma was an animal hoarder, is this genetic? She had an actual aviary and llamas and cats. We had animals growing up but I remember begging forever for a Guinea pig, it’s not like we had a farm. But at one point I was breeding Guinea pigs and fish. And incubating chicken eggs. So maybe it is in my genetics. A 10 year old asking for fish breeding supplies is not on my radar, what kid does that? Maybe this side of me has lied dormant under some depression fog. I don’t know.
Justin being on board is dangerous though. He didn’t even say anything when he came home from his work trip to 6 new chickens living in his office. He wasn’t as pleased about my “pointless” fish though, but I am loving my little aquarium. It’s next to my aerogarden and it’s such a happy little corner.
Anyway.
We need to push back the retaining wall in the backyard. Well *need* might be a little strong. But the wood panels are rotted out and need to be replaced. Right now it’s 2.5 high and the field of poison oak beyond is starting to travel down and I am so severely allergic my arms are constantly covered is weeping wounds. We’re going to push it back til it’s at 4 ft and then build the chicken run, originally it was supposed to be 10 by 8, but now I’m thinking it needs to be 12 by 8 minimum.
We’ve been chipping away at excavating ourselves but with between the kids, the boulders, and my rash reaction it’s just not worth it, we need someone with a machine so we hired someone to come excavate it next week. With the space, our backyard will eventually be dining area w pergola, chicken run/coop, fenced in garden area, swing set and jungle gym for the kids, goat shed/area, then Justin’s big shed that he hopes to break ground on this summer. When we’re done with that we’re going to build steps up to access our side yard, clear and level the clearing, and then put pavers or bricks down for a fire pit area.
I am absolutely obsessed with our property. I want to utilize as much of it as we can, and I never want to take for granted that we are lucky to have land and live somewhere breathtakingly beautiful. Life isn’t perfect by any means, but I still feel like I’m living the dream.
