#The Wild Unknown Tarot Card Meanings

Oh man oh man I just saw an Outer Wilds fanart done in the style of a tarot card and I had to immediately drop everything I was doing to think through what an all-Outer-Wilds version of the major arcana would be. I think I have it, it's under the read more because it's long and also there are major major spoilers (unsurprisingly).

0. The Fool: The Hatchling This one is easy. The hatchling is at the beginning of their journey, stepping into the unknown.

1. The Magician: Pye Bringing intention and direction, choosing a path, and channeling cosmic power - yeah I think Pye of “science compels us to explode the sun” fame fits this pretty perfectly.

2. The High Priestess: The Nomai Statues Ok, I kinda struggled with this one, but I think it works. Hidden knowledge, dealing with the mind, the subsconscious vs conscious, veils between worlds. The statues are mysterious and they transmit your knowledge to your previous selves. That fits decently well and also I don’t have a better idea.

3. The Empress: Timber Hearth Ok, I really struggled with this one. I’m going for the themes of creation, life, nature, and nurturing by choosing Timber Hearth since it is literally where life in the solar system grew. I'm not happy with this but whatever.

4. The Emperor: The Vault Authority, establishment, control to the point of domination. They sealed the Prisoner in the vault for defying the system. Plus the Vault looks cool and imposing so we have that going for us.

5. The Hierophant: Solanum Connecting to the past, passing on wisdom, initiation into a spiritual practice (aka reaching the QM). Yeah this is Solanum.

6. The Lovers: Nomai Graveyard (Emotional damage pt 1) I’m so so sorry but it works so well. What says love besides holding your friends close as you all asphyxiate to death?

7. The Chariot: Your Ship Maybe this one is a little too literal but I still think it fits. Determination and drive, knowing where you want to go, overcoming obstacles. Also it's literally your ship. It works.

8. Strength: Chert I’m going to be honest.... Chert is here because they were the only traveler that didn’t have a card that clearly fit, and I couldn’t leave only them out when I gave all the other travelers cards, and I didn’t have another idea for what Strength should be. Hand-wavy explanation: view Strength as getting to the core of confronting your fear and anger and pain and coming out the other side, and, well, Chert having a existential breakdown and then coming to a place of calm acceptance about the inevitability of death sort of… fits…. look just pretend this one makes sense and let’s move along quickly -

9. The Hermit: Feldspar Self-explanatory. The literal solitude, yeah, but also Feldspar is this mentor figure who guides you on your journey, and is apparently happy to just sit and chill in the nightmare hell that is Dark Bramble. It works.

10. The Wheel of Fortune: The Advanced Warp Core in the ATP Change, fate, turning points, cycles - and the breaking of cycles. This is another easy one.

11. Justice: The Prisoner There are a lot of ways you can interpret this. You have the Prisoner defying their society’s rules in an attempt to do what is right, and the strangers believing they were dispensing justice by imprisoning them but actually causing harm. The more I think about this one the more I like it.

12. The Hanged Man: Gabbro Another easy one. Taking a pause to rest, passivity, acceptance, independence, seeing things differently. Plus you even get the literal imagery of them hanging on the hammock, floating in zero-g. This is a slam dunk.

13. Death: The skull + flower from the Strangers’ visions of the Eye Letting go to allow the world to change and let new things grow is literally what this vision is about. Plus it’s a skull! I mean it’s right there.

14. Temperance: Riebeck Steadiness, moderation, plus the duality of Riebeck being terrified of space but still choosing to go out into it.

15. The Devil: The Eye Signal Blocker Destruction, complicity in oppression, avoiding accountability, confronting fear (or avoiding doing so). Oh yeah I’m so on board with this being the Eye Signal Blocker.

16. The Tower: The Interloper (Emotional damage part 2). The destruction of the status quo, disaster, tragedy, upheaval. There is no question here.

17. The Star: The Eye Searching for purpose, navigating a path, themes of renewal. Plus it even kinda has a star-like shape. It’s the Eye.

18. The Moon: The Quantum Moon Look, sometimes the literal choice works. Mystery, secrets, illusions? Yeah, that’s QM alright.

19. The Sun: The Sun Who could have seen this one coming??? ….The thing is… the meaning of the tarot Sun card absolutely doesn’t match the purpose the sun plays in Outer Wilds. But there is nothing else that could be the sun. It’s the sun!

20. Judgement: The Campfire in the Starry Forest Facing yourself, facing the truth, acceptance, ultimately letting go so that you can reach the end. Yeah.

21. The World: The Big Bang The end, and the beginning.

The two of cups can talk about two things mainly, self love or a relationship (be it romantic or otherwise) in this case, and due to later cards, I'm inclined to think it's the first. At the beginning of this month you're going to have struggles with your own self worth and how it's tied to work and your own productivity, how much money you can get (2 Coins Reversed).

The 2 of Coins in its reversed state tells me you're overcommitted to what you deem as work, it's starting to eat at you, others might not notice yet but you know this. Mind you, work is there for a reason, pay your bills, do what you need to do, but also take time to relax, have in mind your production is not all you are.

The Temperance card does tell that you'll be able to balance yourself, maybe getting further into your own spirituality, maybe just taking time for self care after the hard work, it advises to practice balance and moderation.

Mid

L Tarot: Knight Swords RV

WU Tarot: Son Cups RV & 4 Sword

The combination of the Knight of Sword reversed and the Son of Cups reversed points out how you'll likely start getting your motivation back, that you'll get a new idea that motivates you to continue moving forward, something that gives you energy and makes you happy. That being said you'll feel like something is holding you back.

Maybe you feel like you'll go back to the burn out state, maybe there's a rivalry in the background, someone who's actively, or not, telling you not to do this idea. While you shouldn't be doubting your intuition you should actively ask yourself what could you realistically lose from this endeavor.

In this time you should consider that question, relaxing and contemplating how to actually put into action that project, meditation comes to mind as a good idea. Take time to fully recharge while you plan ahead.

WU Tarot: 5 Swords RV & Father Cups

Some news may come by the end of the month, tho what the two of wands most likely means in this reading is how you're continuing to plan this project, this time in a more concrete way. That being said, you're not ready to launch it just yet. There will be risks and I'm getting that you haven't planned for those yet or that you will be doing so in this time.

During this last part of the month you'll most deffinetly get into arguments, maybe it's someone from the past, but what's most likely is that it's someone that didn't notice you getting burnout and got upset at your previous inactivity to recover, this is a recent enough argument but a past one nontheless.

Both the Five of Swords reversed and the King of Cups however indicate that you need to resolve this, it's an argument that you're both fighting to win at the other's expense, or at least one of the parties is.

Embody the Kind of Cups and be the bigger person, don't let this get to you and choose diplomacy, it's for the better. An argument it's only an argument if two are fighting, remain stubborn on this if it's needed and don't give the other person any chance at thinking this is something that's going to continue, mend the bond and move on.

The begging of this month may come with increased responsibilities you're not prepared for, although most likely it's an increase in number of things rather than difficulty. Maybe holding onto a burden that you don't need to, or those new responsibilities turning into that.

Most of you might be in a position of leadership within this situation, maybe you have your own business or are a manager of some sort. You shouldn't be scared to say no to this new "burdens" if you feel like you aren't able to meet the expectations.

Either way, you should be firm about it, embody the Emperor as best as you can and when in doubt follow your inner guidance, meditation is once again on my mind even if not as prominently as Pile I. The Hermit also points to this being a pivotal point in your life, a new direction being considered maybe.

Mid

L Tarot: 5 Swords

WU Tarot: 4 Swords & Father Coins RV

The previous situation may have ended badly, even if you won you both lost, maybe in your case there was the reputation from taking it all and finally saying no. There's a sense that there will be bad blood, the 5 of Swords indicates that you should search for a common ground to mend this relationship.

All this will leave you exhausted and you might get a cold or something of the like, nothing worrisome, just stress catching up to you. You are encouraged to rest in this time and to contemplate the previous situation, specially because of the Father of Coins Reversed apearing.

Don't obsess with what could have been monetarily nor with your wealth, don't fall into the Father of Coins in it's reversed energy, I'm unsure why but gambling comes to mind, so if you do have an issue with it don't fall into that.

The end of your month cards tell you to be strong and have courage in front of this adversities, you might fall into a bad state of mind in which you'll be disconnected from your intuition if you don't stay strong.

The Star however, being the last card of the reading, does tell of an optimistic outcome, that you'll be able to get through it all as difficult as it may be.

There may be new possibilities opening in that near future of inspiration might come down on you in this trying times, end of the day, you'll still shine in the sky.

This pile has an emphasis on charity work, be it emotional or monetary, but having in account the fact that the 6 of Coins comes up again in the middle of the month it's probably monetary.

All this is said because you'll find yourself in a spot in which you'll have to stop doing this charity work, self care is a message that I'm getting along with investigating new ideas, maybe buying yourself a new book that you have been wanting.

This however will not be well received, people who feel entitled to your donations will make comments, that as much as you both have a common goal there is opposition. This is likely due to that entitlement or them not having a good balance in their life with this aspect, which you'll be trying to achieve.

L Tarot: 2 Swords RV

WU Tarot: 6 Coins & 2 Coins RV

The previous conflict will make you feel like you're trapped between the sword and the wall, thinking that there's no fully good option in which direction to take. Probably it'll be indecisiveness over continuing charity or not.

In this reading I do get that you'll go back to charity and that, while fruitful as always, this time people will try to scam you out of your generosity.

The Two of Coins reversed talks of not only over commitment to compensate for your "time lost" but also a fake ness and manipulation of a certain situation, whether it's coming from you is unclear but as previously stated it's probably from those who were telling you to continue donating.

All in all you'll come to a decision, two paths clearly laid out, maybe a partnership of some sort will come up too, but i think that the Lovers here is more of an indication of this decision.

 This is someone who looks back fondly on the memories and journeys you share, halcyon days bygone. I heard "with you to the end of days" and "the one that got away", and I can't help but feel like the feeling is mutual. With the two of cups and eight of cups respectively, they wonder constantly about what could've been had they chosen differently. Would they have it all with you? What is everything without you? They see that you are well, it feels bittersweet but they tell themselves its better to believe it sincere than a facade. I heard knowing wouldn't make a difference, love is all they can offer but no more of what you deserve. They would not allow themselves even the fantasy of you, Pile 2, it hurts them to dream; and it hurts even more to fight for you.

Pile 3 — Maverick

You make a tightrope walk seem like a cakewalk, Pile 3, you move with impeccable and eerie grace in life; as if method and madness found in you one merry union divinely orchestrated. Your magic is one of confusion, Pile 3, you leave others dumbstruck at every turn, as the can never quite know what to make of you. I heard that you're made of stardust, star stuff! You come into others awareness like a puzzle that abides by no reason, and thus begins their unexpected descent into obsession for closure and control; as if to capture you in mind is to capture you in your entirety. You take space with your grand presence Pile 3, and others seem aware immediately that within you is a deeper knowing; and even discern that within you too is a yearning for belonging, for community, that is beyond what they can provide. You have lived many lives and each skin you unburden with grace and dignity; there is no end to your power of metamorphosis. As to who is under your spell, though the ten of cups was present in the spread; I was not getting anything romantic, but rather wistful. If you think people from your past have forgotten or are not watching, they certainly are, Pile 3! Sorry that there wasn't much I could glean from the spread, Pile 3!

Let's talk about these new images & the new/clearer looks at images from the Dragon Age Vinyl. (first, read this post hhhh). under a cut for length.

These resemble the map of the Fade in DA:O.

This one with the eluvian is labelled as the "Black City" side of the flip mat merch item. behind the eluvian is a flower-like pattern. and this is the first time I remember [? could be wrong] seeing the 'roots' of the 'tree statue' structures. from root, to trunk, to branches. [interestingly with root and branches looking like veins, lyrium veins, Titan veins..]. an eluvian shattering in the context of the "Black City" - again the splattering, the shattering..

and I looked up and saw the seven gates of the Black City shatter, and darkness cloaked both realms.

were/are the seven "gates" eluvians? ^^ they are portals and a gate is type of portal.

On the left here is Grey Warden imagery - griffon, sword, Joining Chalice with darkspawn blood drop.

I can't make out the two middle images - is anyone skilled with image manipulation able to unskew them?

On the right here, the four circles pattern looks similar to the pattern on Solas' Hermit Tarot card. and in the middle is the sense once again of an eclipse - in the very center, a sun-like shape/representation of the sun. and behind that, two overlapping spheres/two shadowed spheres.

Codex entry: Old Elven Writing

This elven writing found in the Arbor Wilds is so old as to be incomprehensible. There are whispers from the Well of Sorrows. It's impossible to understand the entire text, but certain parts suddenly reveal a shadow of their original meaning. "In this place we prepare to hunt the pillars of the earth. Their workers scurry, witless, soulless. This death will be a mercy. We will make the earth blossom with their passing." For one moment there is a vivid image of two overlapping spheres; unknown flowers bloom inside their centers. Then it fades.

And here is our first clear look at the Black City version of the art. we can now make out details in it that we couldn't the other day. the 'feel' of the image is that the sunrays emanating from the dragon/just behind the dragon cause/caused the now-Black City to destabilize and crumble. the wings and foliage also have a color gradient. at the bottom, gnarled and blackened, where the rot set in and is spreading. it spreads upwards to marr the little amount of gold that there is left, killing the foliage in the process.

but the main new exciting detail here is the heads held in the wings. there are 6 of them and they have elven ears. on their helms are the 'Evanuris headpiece/symbols'. seen from different angles in some, but it's these symbols nonetheless. you can match them up, like so:

After matching up the heads to these symbols, only the central one, the biggest one, is left out. and as you can see, what does match that is the Black City dragon's horns (recall they or the dragon itself changes from the Golden City version of the art to this one) and the staff of the figure facing the dragon in the Golden City version of the art.

here's an Elgar'nan asset from DA:O. compare the horns with the staff top, the Black City dragon horns and the symbol in the biggest semicircle.

I still speculate that the figure and therefore the second 'Black City' dragon is Elgar'nan (with the first dragon being Mythal). opposite Mythal, he's the leader of the gods, the Zeus. that semicircle and symbol is the biggest. There isn't another big one because Mythal was murdered, and of course there isn't a ninth because that's Fen'Harel. I wrote in my last post on this,

left, silvery dragon - Mythal? right dragon (which is gold-toned despite the blackening) - Elgar'nan, after he’s approached her [maybe as the figure on the rock promontory] and then murdered her and taken her place as the god, ruler, dragon who presides over all? moon and sun, moon dragon and sun dragon, beauty and destruction.. the shape of the 'right-hand’ dragon’s horns match the evanuris headpiece on the ring which is in the biggest hemisphere, and of the 7 gods those headpieces apply to (9 Evanuris, minus Mythal and Fen'Harel), the 'biggest’ naturally is the patriarch leader opposite Mythal, Elgar'nan.

husbands killing, betraying or doing acts of violence against their wives is unfortunately not a rare thing. and in the lore this has happened before. Andraste (with her Mythal-like crown..) was betrayed by Maferath. Conobar betrayed Flemeth, the human woman whom the spark of Mythal - betrayed herself by other Evanuris - crawled to. the spark of Mythal "clawed and crawled through the ages" to Flemeth when Flemeth cried out for help. there is a reason Flemeth is the vessel the spark of Mythal joined with, their stories are similar. Dalish lore and the memories of ancient elven lore we see in DA:I sometimes show that Mythal sometimes had to temper Elgar'nan's fury or defuse situations involving him. of course, just because Elgar'nan was the main culprit of Mythal's death didn't mean that he did it alone or acted alone. other Evanuris were involved. Solas says "and in their lust for power they killed her". in their lust for power, the City was blackened.

the question is, what do the Evanuris heads in the dragon's blackened wings represent? ofc it's another version (really different art style etc) of this event. the heads/symbols, the City blackening.. it's the same event being depicted. but the way their body-less heads hang there in the blackened wings, dark and connected to the corrupted tree.. it reminds me of the theories connecting the Evanuris to the Blight somehow. "What the Evanuris in their greed could unleash would end us all. Let this place be forgotten. Let no one wake its anger. The People must rise before their false gods destroy them all." The Balrog Theory. Andruil travelling into the darkness of the Void and returning, twisted and mad. stuff like that. that's what the heads in the wings remind me of. so other Evanuris ("they") were involved in Mythal's death, and they were up to something shady "in their lust for power" that was giving 'not great for the world' vibes.

also, stylistically the choice to show their heads like this also reminds me of the faces in the borders of the beautiful map that came out with the Tevinter Nights book. those borders not only also contain two different dragons facing off from each side of the map but a bunch of celestial body, sun/moon and eclipse imagery...

anyways, we also get a more detailed clearer look at the Golden City cover art and in this we can see -

this is the door/gate to the Golden City in this Art. and idk, it just reminds me of this dragon Mythal mosaic or this Mythal dragon statue.

also -

soo is Elgar'nan is one of the "Evil Gods" that has Thedas in their sights? that mural could be read as implying that there were two returning or at least lurking ominously. All 7 non-Mythal-non-Fen'Harel gods coming back or being at risk of coming back in one game could be too much both in terms of irl meta-resources for development (there are lots of other things going on in Thedas to cover as well) and too much as a threat, if I was a writer I personally might handwave most of them to the side like "oh yeah, 5 of them got corrupted/stuck/lost forever over the Ages since while they were trapped and only Elgar'nan and [Other One] remain to pose a threat. they're still looming and ominous though". yknow?

What do you need to reflect on?

I thought it would be fun to do a pick-a-pile reading today. I'm using three different tarot decks for these readings. I've placed three crystals on each deck as well to give more energy into the reading. Focus on the energy of each pile and go for the one you feel intuitively drawn to.

Pile 1: Rose Quartz

Ace of Wands [-> Page of Wands, King of Swords, Ace of Swords], The Empress, VI of Pentacles, IV of Cups [-> The Lovers]

You may have been feeling a bit impulsive lately, especially with your spending habits. You've been very generous during this past holiday season, but now you're wondering if it was worth it. You're used to being the provider, and you're wondering when it will be time for others to give back to you.

This Empress card can also deal with fertility, so if you've been a bit too impulsive, you might want to be a little more cautious. Being snowed in can bring boredom a bit too easily.

A new creative vision or project will have you feeling a stronger sense of personal power. Communicating your ideas clearly will be beneficial to you. Perhaps you've been wanting a baby, or to take your relationship to the next level. Take the time to make a decision and then communicate effectively.

If you've been waiting to act on your crush, make sure you do so with a clear head.

The overall lesson is to pause before communicating your thoughts and ideas. Whether it's for business or personal relationships, concise thoughts lead to progress.

Pile 2: Blue Calcite

Son of Swords [-> Mother of Wands, II of Pentacles], Daughter of Cups [->II of Wands]

I'm getting the sense of two separate people here. One who is determined in achieving their goals and may even be a bit too forceful with them. They person comes off as very intelligent and usually grounded. On the other hand, there's someone who is quite the opposite: very creative and in tune with their emotions. This person might have trouble staying grounded. Each of these people can learn from one another.

For this first person, they're doing all of this because there's something they're protecting. Perhaps they're used to being the provider, or being provided for, and they have a lot to prove. New job prospects might be making them feel more possessive during this time. They need to embrace this change and have faith in themself.

For this second person, they're really feeling that sense of direction. Perhaps they lacked it in the past as their head was always swimming with new ideas. This person should be aware of their thought patterns at this time if they want to realize their goals. They should try to be more positive towards themself.

What's the lesson they can learn from each other? -> IX of Pentacles

Loyalty and devotion. By devoting themselves they'll be able to create the happiness they deserve. This could be a happy home, a happy career, or even a happy life. Perhaps even together. It takes a lot of hard work to pay this off, but both individuals are used to this. If they rely on each other, maybe even take a note out of each other's books, they can find this harmony.

Pile 3: Peacock Ore

[The Hermit, Eight of Swords] -> The Star

Note that I'm using the Spirit Halloween deck. It's very novelty and the art rarely matches the meaning of the cards. I'm feeling drawn to using the imagery for this reading so it will be partially that and mainly my intuition from the cards.

This snow day is a perfect day of reflection for you. Spend some time alone with your thoughts to get them in order. You may have been feeling ostracized as of late, so alone time may not seem welcoming, but I urge you to sit with it. Find solace in it. It may be uncomfortable, but it's necessary.

You stand out from the crowd, and this may make you feel like a victim at times but know that you are glorious within. Removing yourself from the crowd may be necessary to sit with your individuality and learn to appreciate it.

There's a brightness inside you that is full of hope. You can share this with others, but it's important to love yourself first. (I saw a tiktok the other day of someone living in a European country discussing a cultural difference of how competition amongst others can bring resentment and it's fueled by insecurity. She said, "I can't be your friend until you are your own friend first". That's immediately coming to mind here.) Use the time of quiet and stillness to learn to love yourself. Pour into you before you pour into others, this way your cup doesn't become empty.

changkyun could be interested in someone spiritual, as the magician is represented as someone who is a great manifestor and someone resourceful. the combination of 2 of swords rx and the magician reminds me of someone who is a go-getter and focused on achieving success in their career, sort of like someone who has tunnel vision and has lots of dreams and willingness to achieve it. even though changkyun seems to innately like being the provider, i still feel someone who has accomplishments is a turn-on for him. 2 of swords rx can also paint someone who is decisive and ruthless in a way, like someone who people fear due to a quiet strength. they might not be the most boisterous person in the room, but their aura garners respect from people. the ace of wands rx reminds me of someone private with their ideas, someone that can be scattered in a way when it comes to their thought processes, but has large ideas, i also heard the word humanitarian come to mind. the 9 of pentacles rx on the bottom describes someone who hustles and has a strong sense of self-worth. i also envision someone who has built their career themselves, and doesn't rely on anyone for their successes. i feel this person is someone who takes their career seriously, and puts their head down when they are working so they don't attract unwanted attention.

changkyun might be interested in those who can ground him more in reality, as his placements give off someone who is more cerebral/dreamy. changkyun could find someone who is very goal-oriented attractive as the earth card focuses on material possessions. the other words such as patience and practicality are traits that i feel changkyun finds also looks for, so overall someone who has a lot of willpower, is pragmatic and disciplined with multiple areas in their lives. the mouse card illustrates someone detail-oriented, organised and nit-picky. changkyun could want someone who is a bit of a control freak and loves organising their lives, the type of people who have 5-10 year plans or is always one step ahead. the way i interpret it is that it makes sense why changkyun wants someone who has a bit of nervous energy, as he will teach them to be more open and adaptable. his ideal type could be someone who frees themselves and others from outdated beliefs, while also releasing negative thought patterns. this person is seen as a leader and a trailblazer, and i think changkyun finds those qualities very attractive. i feel changkyun would like his s.o. to be his source of motivation and inspiration, not only for himself but for others as well.

the first thing that came to mind when i was shuffling the cards was that changkyun could be someone who's very private with his love life, for example, he prefers just being with his person in privacy instead of going out and meeting with others etc. he comes off as a homebody boyfriend to me, or even just preferring dates that are more remote. the hermit embodies patience and guidance which i feel is what changkyun would be like as a boyfriend, someone who is patient and loves teaching/guiding his person. the justice rx tells me that changkyun has a tendency to struggle with boundaries and can come off as "overgiving" or something of that nature. strength tells me that changkyun is happy to bear the burden of his s.o. and not tell anyone. 8 of cups rx indicates that changkyun can be someone who won't give up on the relationship even if it isn't working. he will do everything in his power to make the relationship work (his pisces venus:')). i think overall, changkyun can be said as someone who is extremely selfless, private, emotionally strong and someone who struggles with leaving, even though it is necessary.

the sun tells me that changkyun will make the relationship the centre of his world. changkyun will become livelier and more energised in the relationship and even act childlike at times. changkyun will be someone who is more self-assured in the relationship. the spider card denotes someone who's an ingenious creator who is able to support the spider and those around them financially and spiritually. this can indicate that changkyun loves being the provider in relationships and actually likes being relied on as it's innate within him and gives him a sense of purpose. this could be tied to his pisces venus as this placement often indicates selflessness and service. this card also tells me that changkyun often bears the burden for others and doesn't like to show others his vulnerability. in a relationship though, i see him as someone enthusiastic, playful and even creative. i wouldn't be surprised if he is constantly making music for or inspired by his significant other.

the knight card represents loyalty, romance and chivalry and a love of honour. changkyun could be the type to be take pride in being the gentleman. even though his aquarius placements make him more unconventional in love, his capricorn mercury and aries moon makes him still place an importance on tradition and perpetuating certain gender roles. even though I feel changkyun is more liberal in that aspect and does not 100% subscribe to traditional gender roles, there is this innate feeling of need regarding him being the provider. i can also see him defending his relationship from others (if there is any criticism) and holding his relationship to the utmost importance. with his pieces venus, I do feel that he tends to go for partners that he can "fix" so he might feel obligated to be his person's knight in shining armour.

I will not read about health and the medical realm. What I read is not the future, it's for yall to think and reflect on and/or for entertainment. Tarot is less complicated than you think. Sure, each card has a definition and it’s important to know what it means, but it’s YOU that’s doing the reading. It’s YOU that’s interpreting the card/cards. Look at them, what part of the images are you being drawn to?

Let’s look at the Nine of Wands

The nine of wands symbolizes having strength in the face of adversity. It means you are stronger than the obstacles you are encountering….But it also means you’re burnt out, you’ve been strong for so long that you’re getting tired.

This is the card 9 of wands in my deck (not my photo though I was too lazy)

What’s more important here? That he’s holding the flames? That he’s powerful? Or that his fingers are marked with soot? That they’re burning.

That part is Your job to figure out. The cards are handing you the message, but you are drawing out the specifics.

This is why it’s SO important you have a deck you can connect with. If you just buy any old deck, and then you try & try but you still don’t understand it, then it might not be the deck for you.

The rider Waite tarot deck (the traditional tarot deck) is good, but it’s not personal which is why I NEVER recommend it to beginners. You need to feel your spirit reflected back in your deck, which is why I work with Maggie Steivaters Raven Cycle Deck—the deck to the book series that started my path into witchcraft, and The Wild Unknown tarot deck which is what I read when working with clients.

Tarot is about the gut feeling, also known as intuition. It’s a powerful exercise in how much you trust yourself. And it takes time to build that trust, be patient with your frustration. We’re taught from a young age that intuition isn’t powerful, and that logic should be the path we always take. tarot forces you to think differently, I like to think of it as learning a new language. You can’t do that in a day or a weekend. It takes time.

Unfolding What does it mean to surrender to the unfolding of life? For many readers the Empress calls forth the deeply sensuous realm of nature, of creation and creativity. For many, the card embodies the archetype of the mother, and the Empress is sometimes depicted pregnant. Traditionally, the card reminds us that the world itself is our safe, sheltering haven—and also our womb. The world over which the Empress rules is the matrix that nurtures our lives, feeds our dreams, and brings our intentions to fruition. Artist and Tarot creator Julia Turk offers the keyword conception for this card. “The Empress represents the basic ebb and flow of pulsating nature. There is a deep desire within you to return to nature,” she writes. What is this desire to return to nature?
