Morya on Yahweh as a Mamo in the Prayag Letter
The term Prayāg (or Prayaga) is an ancient term for the city of Allāhābād. In January 1, 1881, an early branch of the parent or original Theosophical Society was formed in Allahabad. G.N. Chakravarti was a notable member of this lodge, who represented Brahmanism at the 1893 World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago. So, the Prayag Letter is a correspondence from November 4th, 1881, which…

'Willie' Higinbotham, a thirty-four-year-old electronics specialist – the son of a Protestant clergyman and soon afterwards prominent among those atomic scientists who felt politically and morally responsible for their work – wrote from Los Alamos to his mother:
I am not a bit proud of the job we have done . . . the only reason for doing it was to beat the rest of the world to a draw . . . perhaps this is so devastating that man will be forced to be peaceful. The alternative to peace is now unthinkable. But unfortunately there will always be some who don't think. ... I think I now know the meaning of 'mixed emotions'. I am afraid that Gandhi is the only real disciple of Christ at present . . . anyway it is over for now and God give us strength in the future. Love, Will.

Over tea
Tumblr media
Tea can either bring people together to enjoy it or start senseless fights. How interesting
Tumblr media
Wc: ~900
Your liking of tea has always been one of the few things known about you by the public. Other than your face or name, nothing much was known.
A perfect blank page for anyone to dream about any scenario they want.
" I just know it! One of the secretaries spoke as she stirred her coffee " great sage YN and mister al-haitham MUST be an item! Totally confirmed" She blushed lightly, imagining one of the steamy book cover that she managed to buy in Inazuma
The rest of the group looks at her attentively, this is one of their common lunch talks. Paperwork, unreasonable workers, talking shit about their boss and gossip about their favorite pair
" Oh?" The golden eyes of one of the boys open wide as does his mouth, letting out a bit of food " how are you so sure even?"
" Hear this'' she leans towards the table as if she was about to tell a top secret " al-haitham was on his desk, as usual right?" The rest of the group looked at her with total attention, breaths hitched "I had to deliver a letter but when I was about to enter I saw the great sage next to al-haitham so obviously I didn't enter. I didn't want to ruin my OTP's moment-"
" You just wanted to eavesdrop but sure "
" Shush! So I stood by listening and they were really like ' oh, haitham, you should take a break from work for a moment. We could go to my office and drink some tea' all while being very touchy feely and al-haitham kinda smiles knowingly before going so I had to leave the letter in the door -"
" Ehem!" One of the matra touches her shoulder, quickly dimming the environment " care to repeat that?"
Jumping from her chair she looks wide-eyed at the matra followed by two other matras " I swear I didn't mean to eavesdrop it was only an acc-"
The blond one steps ahead crossing his arms ready to fight " that is the problem! The problem is lying blatantly about possible affairs from the great sage! Everyone knows great sage and cyno are in love
" Obviously! And you said you stood by the door? Then how would you have known they were touchy feely and if he smiled or not! Only lies!"
The oldest steps in, trying to calm the other two down, seemingly he is their senior " you two only came because you wanted to warn them about lying about a public figure. Either way, young lass, do you know how severe lying about this is?"
Grasping the fabric around her chest she stands her ground, facing against the supposed 'boss' " I might have exaggerated with the touching part but the great sage WAS inside mister Al-haitham's office and they DID offer him to drink tea at their private office".
The blond one jumps in place, an offended look on his face " even then! How would you ever think they would fall in love with such a straight faced dull man!"
Sara gasps looking at him " straight faced! That is flavorful coming from you! You mean to say Cyno, the general mahatma is more expressive than mister al-haitham! I'm so sorry but that is plainly untrue!"
" I have only seen your so beloved 'misteir il-haithim" frown! I know you low level workers don't know how hard the sages' work is they need someone reliable and comforting like Cyno!"
The other matra chimes in rising reasons why Cyno is better than al-haitham, to each of them his coworker nods, while their superior looks somewhat embarrassed " Cyno has a whole personality outside of his job! He likes card games, he is protective of his friends, reliable, funny!"
Tte oldest gives a broken smile " O-Oh well maybe that one…"
" UP FOR DISCUSSION! But either way the great sage YN always laughs at his jokes!"
" Huh?!
"As cynos unofficial big brothers we have to help him get his happiness! He only relaxes when the great sage YN is around. I will not allow you bunch to sully it with senseless rumors"
" Yeah, plus Cyno spent three weeks next to the great sage! Obviously there should be something there"
The chubby and meek girl stands up " Well most of that time was spent believing the sage was a criminal! I wouldn't date anyone who thought that of me!"
The lanky matra gets closer, visibility mad by the vein in his neck " Cyno was only doing his job!"
" And?! I don't think my trust could easily be built if his first impression of me was that of a criminal!"
Looking down the window you look at the busy streets beaming with light and sound " I'm happy everything is as calm as usual" you say softly as you lean against your lover's chest, faintly smelling the white tea from his mug and his mouth. You wonder, would his lips taste like white tea?
He nods before resting his head on your own, closing his eyes and wrapping his arms around you as if he was about to sleep with a teddy bear
No longer caring about making hypotheses, you give him a quick kiss, lingering around his face to notice any reaction. Looking carefully you see his lips turn the slightest upwards and his pale hair hiding the sprinkle in his eyes. Leaning down he gives a light kiss on your cheek
He tastes like tea, a lightly orange blossom taste lingering on the tip of your tongue. How much will the taste change if you add raspberries? Or maybe Jazmine? You will have to check then, surely your handsome lover wouldn't refuse any affection under the alibi of sharing a cup of tea

Mahatma Gandhi the Racist.
Mahatma Gandhi the Racist. While living in South Africa, Mahatma Gandhi described black Africans as “savage,” “raw” and living a life of indolence and nakedness.
•He routinely expressed "disdain for Africans," and he also campaigned relentlessly to prove to the British rulers that the Indian community in South Africa was superior to native black Africans.
•One of the first battles Gandhi fought after coming to South Africa was over the separate entrances for whites and blacks at the Durban post office.
•Gandhi obiected that Indians were "classed with the natives of South Africa," who he called the kaffirs, and demanded a separate entrance for Indians.
•In a petition letter in 1895, Gandhi also expressed concern that a lower legal standing for Indians would result in degenerating "so much so that from their civilised habits, they would be degraded to the habits of the aboriginal Natives, and a generation hence, between the progeny of the Indians and the Natives, there will be very little difference in habits, and customs and thought."

I have a question
In your series BvZ I’ve been really curious, how did you come up with the characters names!
Like even if albus is from a different series as Well I’m curious as their names are really different in a good way!
(I’m also tryna get my friend into the series got any tips 😏)
Ah! That is a fun question!
One of the greatest things about writing is that you can find inspiration from literally anything!
Some times you come up with a name based on an old war story and combine it with a well known ip, (example: Albus York is based on the legendary war hero Alvin York. But I changed his name to Albus, not because of Harry Potter, but because I kinda want to see more Albuses in the world.)
or you could just take two worlds that sound good together because it sounds like an existing town, (example: Hip and Switch put together sounds like Chiswick, a district in London)
OR you could just be basic and take historical figures and attach them to a character by putting a twist on said character's personality.(example: Mahatma, or Ghandi, is a well known pacifist and Attila, or Attila the Hun, mercilessly conquered most of Asia.)
But most times, I just take letters and smash 'em together. Here's evidence from discord of me doing just that.
The long and short of it is, I'm doing whatever lol

Question: You say every life situation is a perfect lesson. How is that so?
Ram Dass: The universe is made up of experiences that are designed to burn out our reactivity, which is our attachment, our clinging, to pain, to pleasure, to fear, to all of it. And as long as there are places where we’re vulnerable, the universe will find ways to confront us with them. That’s the way the dance is designed.
In truth, there are millions and millions of stimuli that we are not even noticing, that go by, in every plane of existence, all the time. The reason we don’t notice or react to them is because we have no attachment to them. They don’t stir our desire system. Our desires affect our perception. Each of us is living in our own universe, created out of our projected attachments. That’s what we mean when we say, “You create your own universe.”We are creating that universe because of our attachments, which can also be avoidances and fears.
As we develop spiritually and see how it all is, more and more we keep consuming and neutralizing our own reactivity. Each time we see ourselves reacting we’re saying, “Right, and this situation too, and this one too, Tat Tvam Asi, and that also, and that also, and that also.” Gradually the attachments start to lose their pull and to fall away. We get so that we’re perfectly willing to do whatever we do – and to do it perfectly and without attachment. It’s like Mahatma Gandhi gets put in jail and they give him a lice-infested uniform and tell him to clean the latrines, and it’s a whole mess. And he walks up to the head of the guards and he says, in total truth, “Thank you.” He’s not putting them on or up-leveling them. He’s saying, “There’s a teaching here, and I’m getting it; thank you.” What’s bizarre is that we get to the point where somebody lays a heavy trip on us and we get caught, and then we see through our caughtness and we say, “Thank you.” We may not say it aloud because it’s too cute. But we feel, Thank you. People come up and are violent or angry or write nasty letters or whatever they do to express their frustration or anger or competition, and all I can say is thanks.

I’ve heard some evangelical websites talk about “spreading the truth” and whatnot, and I want to ask how you balance the evangelism part of Christianity (forgot the Bible quote) and respecting others’ religion?
Great question, beloved! Here's my balance!
I think that evangelism means something very different now than it did when the Bible was written. For struggling Christians in the first couple centuries, sharing their faith and welcoming people to their home churches was a matter of community and survival. And before the printing press/easy long-distance communication, going to people and talking to them about religion was how you built communities. Through the years, some evangelism has stayed like this, but much of it has been a tool of imperialism/colonialism, a way of erasing culture, or, more recently, a way to check someone off a list of "saved souls."
We're in a unique position right now, with the Internet and globalization. The majority of humans right now are familiar with Christianity. More people have access to the Bible than ever before. In my life and communities, most non-Christians know what Christianity is, and they have chosen not to follow it. This is very different from not being Christian because you've never heard the Gospel. And preaching to people who aren't interested is very different from preaching to people who have never heard, very different from sharing a belief and welcoming someone into a community. Somewhere we've lost the point.
I know it's out of the goodness of most people's hearts that they try to convert people. They genuinely believe they're helping people. They're not trying to erase people's culture or ignore their experiences or make everyone the same—but they are. When evangelism is a threat, a demand, a blind question, it's manipulative and empty. There's so much fear in missionary work—fear for others' souls, fear of other worldviews, fear of being wrong.
I guarantee you the homeless guy on your corner would rather you give him the cash in your pocket that a Bible. (If he wants to buy a Bible with it, that's his business.) If you're knocking on someone's door, you better be just as willing to hear about their spirituality as you're willing to tell them about yours. Invite people to your church potluck not because you want them to change, but because you want them to eat.
"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect . . ." (1 Peter 3:15)
"Jesus himself did not try to convert the two thieves on the cross; he waited until one of them turned to him." (Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Letters and Papers from Prison)
"Don't talk about it. The rose doesn't have to propagate its perfume. It just gives it forth, and people are drawn to it. Live it, and people will come to see the source of your power." (Mahatma Gandhi, Gandhi on Christianity)
"'I just wish the missionaries would go home,' [my guide in Central America] said. 'If they really want to help, they should come two by two, like the Bible says, with nothing but the shoes on their feet. When they come into a village, they should go ask the elders if there is anything for them to do. If the elders cannot think of anything, they should leave. Otherwise we are just characters in their play.'" (Barbara Brown Taylor, Holy Envy)
"I read about an [Alaskan native] hunter who asked the local missionary priest, ‘If I did not know about God and sin, would I go to hell?’ ‘No,’ said the priest, ‘not if you did not know.’ ‘Then why,’ asked the [hunter] earnestly, ‘did you tell me?’" (Annie Dillard, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek)
". . . the imam ended his meeting with students by saying, 'Our deepest desire is not that you become Muslim, but that you become the best Christian, the best Jew, the best person you can be. In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Thank you for coming.'" (Barbara Brown Taylor, Holy Envy)
I want more people to have a spiritual home, to have a culture and traditions they value, to find meaning in the world, to love the universe, to love their neighbor. But I don't necessarily want more people to be Christian. Being Christian makes me a better, more fulfilled person, but I have seen with my own eyes how becoming Christian does not automatically give people those things.
Evangelism, for me, is exactly what this blog is! Being open and honest, creating a space for queerness in faith, guiding people toward a spiritual home. Being God's light on earth, sharing the gospel.
More and more, I realize my desire is not to convert people. It's to help people who are already Christian find a way to stay (if they want). There are millions of Christians in the world. I don't need more, I need better ones. And I desperately want queer people especially to have a spiritual home, to not feel forced out.
I will share Jesus with you, especially if you ask. But what does shouting Jesus at you, or forcing Jesus on you, or talking nonstop about Jesus when I know you've devoted yourself to someone else, do? That's not being a light to the world, that's being an asshole. And that's often why people are reluctant to convert in the first place—because of assholes.
I don't think we're gonna reclaim "evangelical" any time soon, at least in the US—it's been so twisted. But maybe someday, when someone says evangelism, we'll think of being an honest loving person helping others finding a home.

Ryan Reynolds' Career
Today's hot topic is.... guess who? Ryan Reynolds! (his career but who cares.)
Tumblr media
The charming, affable, and boyishly handsome Reynolds has made his way through everyone's hearts. His captivating personality and his witty humor never fails to amaze the crowd, be it teenagers or people old enough to be his grandmother.
HIS DEBUT ROLE IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY
At the young age of 15, Ryan made his debut as Billy Simpson in the Canadian teen soap opera, Hillside, in 1991. The show lasted till 1993. Along with that, his journey in Hollywood began from the movie Ordinary Magic in 1993. He played the 15-year-old Ganesh who was born and brought up in India. Hinduism and Mahatma Gandhi's teachings highly influenced his character in this movie.
(WE KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING. EVEN WE'RE LOSING OUR SANITY OVER THIS!!!!!)
(Look at our lil' floatie-floatie boy <3333)
Tumblr media
Anywaaaaay.
Reynolds had a few supporting parts in films and TV shows. Because he no longer wanted to play an adolescent, he declined the role of Xander in Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003). (Terrible fate, we know.) Instead, he was cast in the ABC comedy Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place as medical student Berg (1998–2001).
His role in the comedy The In-Laws marked his entry into the world of high-budget entertainment. He had an appearance in The X-Files episode titled Syzygy. He also made an appearance as the letter 'A' in the A-Team, in the 4225th episode of the popular kids show Sesame Street.
(THIS IS OUR LITTLE ANGRY A-BOY.)
Tumblr media
Now the more exciting part,
HIS MOVIES!
When it comes to effortless charisma and wry wit, it's hard to top Canadian charmer Reynolds. But even though the Vancouver-born actor is mostly unchallenged in those categories, it took a while for him to take off as a bonafide movie star. After a decade of hit-or-miss comedies, Reynolds eventually hit the bullseye with 2016's Deadpool, marking the perfect use of his naughty humor and comic delivery.
Tumblr media
(Our top G Ryan as Deadpool *rock 'n' roll*)
Deadpool is regarded as one of the best superhero movies of all time and quickly became the highest earning R-Rated film ever, only beaten by Joker in 2019.
A few of his most adorable films include 'Definitely, Maybe' (2008), The Proposal (2009), The Change-Up (2011), and Just Friends (2005).
Tumblr media
He's got many spectacular action movies under his belt. A few of them include, The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017) with top-rated co-star Samuel L. Jackson, 6 Underground (2019), Free Guy (2021), Red Notice (2021), and The Adam Project (2022).
Let's not forget his role as Harvey Kinkle (with the bad hair, ew, but he's cute so we'll take it.) in the movie Sabrina The Teenage Witch (1996).
Tumblr media
And then there are a few movies which weren't very well received by his audience. These include R.I.P.D. (2013), Amityville Horror (2005), Green Lantern (2011), and Turbo (2013).
Moving on....
AWARDS HE'S RECEIVED OVER THE YEARS.
Our gorgeous superstar Ryan has received many notable awards as his career progressed. The first ever award he received was in 2003, it was the 'Young Hollywood Award for Next Generation - Male'. Then came an award for his role in Green Lantern - 'People's Choice Award for Favorite Superhero' in 2012, even though this movie was met with conflicting reviews, Reynolds managed to win different hearts by doing what he always does. Turn his charm on. (We AREN'T complaining at all.) A huge number of awards followed his movie Deadpool, which was a major box office hit. One for Best Entertainer in a Comedy Movie, and another for Entertainer of The Year.
Tumblr media
Here's Ryan accepting the People's Icon Award at the People's Choice Awards 2022. (Look at his adorable smile, we all love him here at Ganesh Lovers' Community.)
Reynolds' has had a total of 60 nominations and 21 wins in his Hollywood career, which is actually quite a lot.
HIS PERSONAL LIFE
Childhood
Reynolds was raised in a Vancouver Irish Catholic home as the youngest of four boys. His parents were police officers and his mother worked in retail. Two of his brothers work in law enforcement, while a third is a member of the RCMP. From 1940 until 1944, his grandfather Chester Reynolds served as a legislator for Stettler, Alberta, as a member of the Social Credit Party.
Love Life
He was engaged to singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette from June 2004 to February 2007, when they called off their engagement.
Tumblr media
Ryan with Alanis.
Shortly after, Reynolds started dating actress Scarlett Johansson, with whom he married on September 27, 2008, at a resort in Clayoquot Sound, close to Ucluelet, British Columbia. In December 2010, they divorced and filed for separation.
Tumblr media
Ryan with Scarlett.
He started dating Blake Lively, his Green Lantern co-star, in 2011, and the two got married on September 9, 2012.
Tumblr media
Ryan with Blake.
Children
Ryan and Blake have three daughters together: James (born in 2014), Inez (born in 2016), and Betty (born in 2020). Betty’s name was publicly revealed by a close friend, Taylor Swift in her song of the same name from the album Folklore.
Tumblr media
Them with their three kids. (Our mini Ryan's and Blake's <3)
Personal Achievements
In 2008 and 2009, People magazine ranked Reynolds as one of the sexiest men alive. He was named the magazine's sexiest man alive in 2010.
Tumblr media
He was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in 2011, but the event was postponed since he couldn't make it. (Kinda depressing, TBH.) The day of his official induction was October 18, 2014.
But in December of 2016, Reynolds was honored with a star of his on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Tumblr media
(They're the cutest, seriously.)
Let's move on to....
HIS CHARITY AND ADVOCACY WORK
(This is kind of lengthy, bear with us.)
He's a humble and down-to-earth man, at least from what we've heard, and with the help of his super incredible wifey Blake, they make the power duo and set foot on Earth to save a few souls here and there. Here are a few of their contributions:
A half-million dollars were given to the Canadian nonprofit Water First Education & Training Inc. in March 2022 by Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.
In Vancouver, Canada, Reynolds also appeared in campaign videos sporting his recognizable "ugly" red-and-green sweater. By January 2021, according to the charity, $640,000 had been raised as a result of his fundraising efforts.
In March 2021, Reynolds and Lively gave $250,000 to a Canadian organization that mentored Indigenous youngsters, Influence Mentoring.
Reynolds and his wife had also matched donations made to Covenant House Vancouver and Toronto up to a total of $250,000 in a remarkable gesture of generosity to help youngsters who are homeless, victims of trafficking, or in danger, back when COVID-19 had first struck.
Reynolds joined The Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2008 when he participated in Team Fox's New York City Marathon run. Reynolds ran the marathon in his father's memory, finishing in under four hours and raising more than $100,000 for Parkinson research.
And lastly,
HIS ALCOHOL COMPANY AVIATION GIN
As we see his posts on social media promoting his gin company:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's give you a brief history on the company and his role in it.
The goal of Aviation Gin was to develop a democratic gin blend with juniper in the background. It was formed in 2006 out of Portland, Oregon. a gin that is suitable for every cocktail. For the next ten years, it would remain mostly unknown.
Fast forward to 2018, when gin use was growing more rapidly than that of any other type of alcohol. This led to substantial changes in the sector, such as Reynolds buying a stake in the Aviation American Gin.  Reynolds is the creative director for the marketing campaign, and it is spectacularly successful (Aviation Gin is now the fastest-growing gin brand in America). How could it not? Reynold is a comic genius who conveys important messages about the quality of gin in the funniest, most approachable ways conceivable. Here's one of his advertisements for the company:
youtube
Hilarious! Are we right?!
Ah, sadly we have to end this splendid deep dive into our favorite floatie-boy Ryan Reynold's life here, but! We're not signing off without blessing your eyes with a few photos of his ;)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your welcome.
Anyway, signing off, it's the dream team, Ganesh Lovers (get it?).
Adios till our next blog!

an unreasonable gush post for fictional band, infant sorrow.
Tumblr media
infant sorrow is without a doubt one of the greatest musical moments in all of history, fictional or not. if 'coming up' doesn't legitimately inspire you, you're lying. if 'inside you' isn't your wedding song, you're lame.
so let's get into what makes this amazing musical experience what it is. let's talk russel brand/aldous snow. the man is a BRILLIANT creator of literally all things. he's an intellectual mind with a spiritual soul and a comedic outlook on life. his comedy is always quick witted and deliberate. this plays a role in the music of Infant Sorrow. now, let's get into the actual music. we'll start with the ONLY song i DON'T like, just to get it out of the way:
'furry walls.' i feel like this song was thrown together quickly as a lubricant for a scene in the film. this song is not canon part of the discography for me. period.
Tumblr media
moving on. let's get into my FAVORITES:
'yeah yeah oi oi' --this is really a britpop masterpiece. it's fun, it's catchy, it's witty, and it just makes you fucking smile. the lyrics are so sharp but sweet and hilarious. case in point: "yeah yeah, oi oi, put your hand up for sex, for me and me helmet and wherever it winds up next" sweet and cute, but then "put your hands up for our queen, for shagging five birds in the back of limosine" dirty and delightful. and the bridge? beautiful. i could go on and on about this song, but we've got more to get to, so.. YEAH YEAH, OI OI, put your dominant hand....on the mouse to scroll to the next paragraph.
'i am jesus' --this song is CRIMINALLY underrated (within the 'infant sorrow' universe and within the real life universe). let's take a little look at the lyrics. "i am jesus, welcome to the church of me" a fantastic start. polarizing to some, DELIGHTFUL to intellectuals. "i've come to feed the fish, heal the world, but first a dirty little kiss" FLAWLESS. "i wear a thorny crown, i live in Honeytown" ;;it's always bordering on sacreligious but in a way that is instantly forgivable because it's so stinking CAMP. "i am mahatma, taking it to the streets, give me your daughter, let me rub your dirty feet." hilarious because in the bible, men literally would give away or sell their daughters. fun little dig at the ridiculousness of biblical religion. and as for rubbing dirty feet, i'm a foot lover myself. so i always appreciate a reference to the love of feet, especially dirty ones. there's actually the most romantic story in the bible where mary magdalane is so in love with jesus, but she doesn't know how to show it the right way 'cause he's literally fucking JESUS, so she shows her love by washing his feet with her HAIR. anyway. that turned into a weird tangent, but it seemed necessary. well, MOVING ON then...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
let's get into one of the absolute BANGERSest bangers: 'bangers, beans, & mash' --this song .... is golden. "a suicide in SoHo grand, my wrists so tired from working with my hands..." now this is a BAR and a half. period. this song is honestly filled with so much real emotion and honest feeling. and the musicality is beautiful. "why has the world gone so still? the world is so still, i feel that my next meal might be my last...so will you come for my bangers....my beans and mash?" i mean you can FEEL emotion from this. it's an honest diary put into music form with a catchy brit-centric title and chorus. brilliant. the only word that describes this is BRILLIANT. i feel like i don't even need to go more in depth into this song, as it's the most well known from the film, and everyone loves it and knows it. if you know you know.
let's get into an underground hit, 'just say yes' --a double entendre beauty of a song. if the beatles had a better sense of humor, they would have written this song. "mother mary, marijuana, uncle charlie, top banana" alone is beatles-esque in nature. but this whole song is a convoluted love letter, and everything brit-punk, brit-pop is about honestly. his love is an addiction. and he's a drug dealer in love. when he says "snort me chase me swallow me whole, or take me up your arse if that's the way you wanna go" i felt that. lovely for love and still witty and hilarious.
Tumblr media
let's get into the least favorite (canonically from the film's inhabitants) 'african child' --i fucking love this song. deadass. it is SO FUCKING HILARIOUS. disrespectful, condescending, ignorant, and incredibly self-aware. russel brand is such a master at this kind of humor. he truly captures the "#activism" of celebrity culture. it's fucking CHOICE. period. "i have crossed the mystic desert to snap pictures of the poor; i've invited them to bruch, let em crash out on my flooooor" i mean FUCKING HELL that's great. so out of touch and ridiculous. it's just...and i use the damn word again...BRILLIANT. but i think one of the best touches is that he's actually doing a Swahili chant. he took the time and effort (in the film's universe) to gather the language and memorize and learn, but not to actually learn anything about the culture or educate himself. fucking amazing. let's move on, GOD THIS POST IS LONG.

'coming up' --the magnum fucking opus. this song is probably such an honest piece from Russel himself (as well as aldous in the film). the parallels between russel and aldous are almost innumerable (which is why his films are so funny ;;because he's not playing a character, he's just exaggerating himself if even exaggerating. the lyrics are inspirational, it captures the vibe of a true power ballad. it's just MINT. in every possible way. when you've run out of drugs and you're going through it, it's called "coming down." this song, 'coming up' is the absolute opposite. done with the drugs, done with the misfortune, done with self-denial and pain and struggle and sadness. he's coming up instead of coming down. it's a beautiful word choice honestly. plus, "and for twenty bucks in the alley i'm going down, down, down" is a hilarious line. xD and the honesty and pain in "for the ma who always honored me i'm going down, down, down ;;for my pa who never wanted me can you hear what's going on? i'm coming UPPPPPPPPPP" honestly enough to make my chemically imbalanced ass actually cry.
and obviously, 'the clap' --an absolute banger. brit-pop royalty. it's catchy, it's fun, it's just subversive enough. it's a great addition to the film's universe. and it symbolized a special moment for aldous in the movie where he started to remember who he used to be and really kicked off his journey to self-realization.
oh shit! and 'searching for a father' --this one slaps and HURTS. for all of us with daddy issues....well, this song just works.
now onto some honorable mentions featuring the brilliant jackie q. because if 'ring round' isn't on your playlist, you're not getting my aux cord.
Jackie Q
'Supertight'
'You got to me Warm and you're tight I'm going to fuck you so deep I'll give you a lobotomy I'm a zombie You dug me from my grave You took me from Africa And made me your slave"
if these lyrics don't jostle your jimmy you're a dummy. this shit is hilarious, and so smartly worded for a song so debaucherous. "i'm gonna get precarious, i'm a motherfucking stratavarious" i mean...that's literally incredible. this song is a 10/10 would recommend.
'ring round' --needs no explanation. song about a tight butt hole. it's fucking perfect. pop perfection.
OH MY GOD AND I FORGOT 'LITTLE BIRD' i'm already done with this post but i'll be damned if i don't mention this one. it's literally beautiful with moments of comedy and silliness.
also 'riding daphne' is a fucking SMASH HIT.
and i can't believe i didn't do a paragraph on 'inside you' argh. but i love it ;;it's beautiful and remember "there's so much more than just a screw inside of you"
so anyway, this post is long as actual shit. i could do a whole 'nother freakout just about the movies 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' and 'Get Him to the Greek' but for now i'll leave it at the music. as far as i'm concerned, Infant Sorrow, is a REAL band, Aldous Snow is a real musician, and this is a perfectly legitimate fangirl moment.

"Revolutions Will Spring...Creeds and Powers Will Crumble"
“Koot Hoomi tells Sinnett first that the world must prepare itself for the manifestation of phenomenal elements in constantly augmenting volume and force. The age of miracles, he says, is not past; it really never was. Plato was right in asserting that ideas ruled the world; and as the human mind increases its receptivity to larger ideas, the world will advance, revolutions will spring from the…

"AUM." From the Vasudeva Upanishad, the Exploration of the Mysteries of the Horse.
3.The Sanyasi should wear the Urdhva Pundra with his fourth finger on the head, forehead and chest chanting the Pranava (Om).
4. Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are three in number: Sthoola (macro), Sookshma (micro) and Karana (cause); are three worlds above: Bhoo (earth), Bhuva (sky)  and Suva (heaven); are three Vedas: Rig, Yajur and Sama; are three states: waking up, dream and sleep. The Urdhva Pundras are three viz., Aa, Uu and Ma.
These Urdhva Pundras are full of Pranava and full of the letter Om. That one pranava has only become any. The Lord of the ‘Om’ takes you above. So you have to wear Urdhva Pundra.
The above explains the three dimensions of the Pundra: Two upward sweeping lines and the bhindu or dot.

All are said to emerge from the mind through what is called Pranava, or OM. OM or
AUM means a pulse – Adimatva (inception) + Ubhayatva (intermediate state) + Miti (resolution). These are the beginning, middle and conclusion of the Sanskrit alphabet, said to encompass every letter in between, and therefore capable of describing of all creation within the character called OM, a combination of all three:
ओम् = ॐ
Each part of the Pundra represents a letter of AUM. AUM represents all the mind and the creation have in common. The mind conjures life, the faculties apprehend it, self-determination anticipates one’s behavior.
The ability to manage this process of OM and become free of transgression, ignorance, ignobility, all the causes of ritual impurity- practices that waste time and tax the spirit are a sign of a mahatma.

THE WAR IS BETWEEN MORALITY AND BRUTALITY
On October 1, 1909, Mahatma Gandhi wrote a letter to Leo Tolstoy, the Russian writer and moralist, detailing the treatment of the 13,000 Indians in South Africa by the white settlers. On the seventh of October 1909, Leo replied with these words: “This fight between gentleness and brutality, between humility and love on one side and conceit and violence on the other, makes itself ever more…
