i love how these kids are always so ready to fight, when george sees Bickerstaff in the window and instinctively punches it, when ellie knocks down lockwood and lucy just decks her and then draws her rapier, and when the golden blade is attacking lockwood and lucy beats the shit out of him with a board, twice, lockwood is much more of a silvertongue than the other two and tends to talk instead of fight but lucys instinct is just wack and i love that for her

The Lockwood & Co show's attention to little details from the books is <3
In the books, it's constantly said that Lockwood uses his left arm to counterbalance when he uses his rapier. In the show, he does this unlike The Golden Blade who never does, highlighting the difference in fighting styles.
Lockwood might be wreckless and impulsive but with his rapier, he's more precise and calculated. He could let himself be like The Golden Blade and fight more brash and arrogant but he doesn't. He's cocky and overconfident, don't get me wrong, but he doesn't let it get in the way of his actual technique.
Hell, you can see it in the show on episode two in the library with Kipps when they are at a standstill. Lockwood is precise, his arm up, balanced and protected. Kipps on the other hand has his chin up, left arm down and back, and he's leaning off center.

SIR RUPERT: Beware the Golden Blade!
GEORGE: Are you talking about yourself in the third person?
SIR RUPERT: Of course not! The Golden Blade is my rapier's name.
GEORGE: Oh, mine's called Durendal after the famous sword of Roland, Charlemagne's general. What d'you call your rapier, Luce?
LUCY: Wrath of Skull...I couldn't think of anything, so Skull named it.
GEORGE: Lockwood? What d'you call yours?
LOCKWOOD: (mumbles something unintelligible)
SIR RUPERT: What's that? You call yours Juicy??
LOCKWOOD: (sighing a little). Lucy. I call my rapier Lucy....naturally ...
HOLLY: Mine's also called Lucy.
