𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝑀𝑎𝑗𝑜𝑟 𝐴𝑟𝑐𝑎𝑛𝑎
So, I’ve done a post about why I add a character’s moral alignment, so I thought I would do it for the Tarot cards. Maybe you’ve noticed it or not (it is something I’ve only started doing).
Because there are 4 suits; Cups (Water), Wands (Fire), Swords (Air) & Pentacles (Earth). I decided this first post will be about the Major Arcana, to break up the Tarot - so it’s easier to digest, rather than have everything thrown at you.
content warning: the titles have the photos of the cards, some show human anatomy
Okay, so the Major Arcana is about a person going through different stages in their life. Starting off with The Fool - who is a curious innocent who wants to experience the world, to the end, ‘The World,’ meaning you’ve accomplished what was set before you.
Great Resources:
One.
Two.
Three.
Each zodiac sign has their own tarot card that represents them. Here’s a free website that tells you. I’ll provide the sun signs equivalent to their tarot card. Although you have your own personal one!
I’ll make another post on how to read tarot cards, because there’s a lot that goes into it. But with the Major Arcana, their messages are much clearer (inn my experience) then the Minor Arcana (the suits; cups, wands, swords, pentacles).
Also, when I read tarot, I include when a card comes out upside down. You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. Do what feels right, it may seem silly or overstated, but your intuition is a superpower. Feel it in your gut. Listen to yourself.
These cards will represent the deeper, more life-impacting matters. The Major arcana deal with the major moments in our lives.

𝟎. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐥
This is a card of rebirth. It signifies new opportunities. Telling us that it’s never too late to start fresh and follow your heart’s desire.

Get to know the 🐠 Page of Cups
So sweet. So fun. So naive.
Tumblr media
Remember the game Psychonauts? I literally hadn't thought about it in years, but then I did the formula for rank + suit, and instantly I remembered that strange brilliance. Super Page of Cups vibes when they grow into some dark adolescence.
And that's all I'll say about that.

Hi! Me again!
I'm working on the swords suit finally, and I'm getting stuck on the Nine of Swords. The two main meanings I'm getting are guilt/loss and anxiety/depression. While I know those can overlap, the descriptions seem to make them seem distinct from each other. Imaginary penny for your thoughts, friendo?
The Nine of Swords
Some keywords for the Nine of Swords in the upright position from the Rider Waite deck’s pamphlet of keywords are "Death, failure, miscarriage, delay, deception, disappointment, and despair."
Then in the guide to the Linestrider Tarot we've got "Anxiety, sleeplessness, depression, worry, self torment, despair."
Biddy tarot has a few for us as well "Anxiety, worry, fear, depression, nightmares."
And finally in the guide to my favorite deck, the Fyodor Pavlov tarot, we have this... "The Nine of swords is the "nightmare card." In our safest place we are vulnerable and prone to the problems that plague us. Sometimes all we want to do is crawl into the safety of our bed, away from our worries, anxieties, problems - only to have it all chase us there too, amplified to bad dreams that won't let us rest even in unconscious."
and...
"So, the Nine of Swords shows us the dangers that plague us, but it also reminds us that they may not be as substantial as we think. And when the monsters come, perhaps rather than hiding ourselves from their sight, we ought to sit with them in the dark and learn their nature to better understand them - and what they tell us about ourselves."
All of that being said at first I was going to say I feel like they can and do very much coexist in this card. But because the Rider Waite guide doesn't mention anxiety, but more along the lines of guilt/depression, and the Fyodor Pavlov tarot doesn't mention depression or despair at all, I think I see what you may be finding in some sources.
The Linestrider guide mentions this "In a reading the card in the past position can indicate that guilt over past actions or past betrayals are affecting your peace of mind."
And the Fyodor Pavlov guide states "On the very day I sat down to write the description of this card, I had woken up from one of my recurring anxiety dreams of having to spend the holidays with my birth family, kept from my husband, unable to escape the obligation and forced to put with all their passive aggressive disapproval. Certain things stick in our psyches and crawl out of their woodwork even after a long time has passed and we think we are safe."
Although the Linestrider and Fyodor Pavlov guides have slightly different interpretations of the card, they both mention negative feelings stemming from past experiences. I think this card can be about all kinds of negative feelings, but I think its interpretation is less about the feelings themselves and more about them stemming from the past. It doesn't matter what the nightmare is, this is the nightmare card. We all have different pasts, nightmares, and feelings those inspire. It's about your personal journey. Your personal past. Your personal nightmare. If I got this card, I'd look to the past and try to confront it and the feelings it brought, whatever those feelings were, as the Fyodor Pavlov guide advises.
I hope this helps! I'm really just info-dumping here guys lol.

THE HERMIT RX 🏮 | Alone time is crucial for our spiritual health. It’s a reason that many initiation rites require initiates to spend time in seclusion; whether it be in nature, in a place of worship, or in a simple, dark space. When we eliminate the noise of the outside world, we hear Spirit speak and are able to be guided and become a guide for that wisdom. The Hermit is the card that exemplifies this quest for knowledge, spiritual and otherwise, and its reversed meanings can indicate a more self-taught approach; whereas the upright meanings include outside sources of knowledge like mentors and medicine people. The Hermit Rx can also be a sign that we’ve spent enough or too much time alone, and it’s time to connect with others to synthesize, integrate, and apply what we’ve learned in a practical sense. Being in our head too long can pull us too far on the Piscean side of this Pisces-Virgo spectrum; lulled deeper into a false sense of understanding that can veer into delusion and disillusion. When it comes up in our readings, we should take a moment to think about what lessons that have come up for us and how we can channel that energy into practical application while remaining open to guidance and correction from outside sources.

TUA Tarot: The Hanged Man
If you’ve ever wondered what the Hanged Man is all about, Luther is a fantastic poster child for this Major Arcana Card (#12).
Tumblr media
First, he’s willing to sacrifice himself, so he can die with his lady love on their own terms. But the key here is that it is a willing sacrifice. A perfect illustration of the concept is the Norse God Odin. He hung upside-down from the World Tree and sacrificed one eye, in exchange for the gift of runes. So if you have ever given up something for a larger purpose, for someone else, or for a greater goal, you’ve lived the Hanged Man card.
Tumblr media
People usually think the imagery on this card is of an upside-down crucifixion, a la Saint Peter — but with black-magic-satan-worshippy connotations. On the contrary, it is an image of suspended animation. Hanging upside down like that, you aren’t going anywhere. It is an intentional time out, with an outcome that can be expected to have been worth the trials, tribulations, and/or waiting in boredom. Snow White in her glass coffin. Or a hunger strike. Five in the Apocalypse — the first apocalypse. There is expected to be a payoff for all that waiting in the end.
Dead Luther in the Void is another perfect representation of suspended animation. He’s stuck there. Until he walks out of the elevator at the end, renewed.

Nine of Pentacles
"Look at all that I have manifested!" Jessica Wiggan's "How to Read Tarot - A Modern Guide" Book
»»————- ★ ————-««
Here are a few associations of this card:
In astrological timing, this card represents the 2nd decan of Virgo.
The planet associated with this card is Venus.
In numerology, Nine is a number which represents completion as it is the last of the single-digit numbers. Also, of the single-digit numbers, it possesses the highest value, and hence can be associated with prosperity. Symbolically speaking, the number Nine is a representation of a pinnacle of wisdom and experience, and the energy surrounding it ties in with ending and new beginnings - the excitement, curiosity, nervousness, and dread that comes with.
The Suit of Pentacles is ruled by the element of Earth. Earth represents aspects of life such as material wealth (money and finances), resources, health, commitment, and security. The overall energy of this element is quite practical and realistic. When this Suit shows up we may expect to learn about what may be coming to us in the long-term future.
And so, if we combine these two concepts together - the numerological association, and the elemental meaning - we discover that ultimately the Nine of Pentacles card signifies that a person is coming into a good position in life - one in which they are finally able to reap the fruits of their labour. They are being rewarded for their persistence and determination with luxuries - be that monetary, or otherwise. A person finally feeling independent - realising just how many opportunities are out there waiting for them. Perhaps they are soon to complete an important project which will open new doors for them. Maybe they finally realise that they are a bad b*tch who doesn't need another person in their life in order to feel whole. They are self-sufficient and happy with their life.
Perhaps there may be a new career opportunity awaiting them? Or a pay rise at work? Maybe their love life is looking up, a break up means that they can look for another person who truly deserves them this time. This card points towards a feeling of safety in a person's life.
However, if reversed, this card may point towards some not-so-pleasant aspects of one's life.
If reversed, the Nine of Pentacles becomes a warning sign which may be felt like a hard slap to the face - it's a call for the person to regain their senses and snap out of whatever it is they think they're doing. It can represent reckless spending, a false sense of security, spending money they do not have (think Anna Delvey in the Netflix show "Inventing Anna"), and false success. The lack of awareness that a person's habits is actively harming them. It may be the realisation that money cannot always guarantee happiness - you cannot fill the gaping hole in your heart with material possessions. This card may signify the awful feeling when you think that all of your previous achievements were for nothing. Just as you were about to reap the rewards the rug was pulled from under your feet and all was lost. The loss of security. The loss of stability. Being unable to provide for yourself and having to rely on others.

Tarot cards connected to Aquarius - Seven of Swords
Minor arcana. Astrological association: MOON IN AQUARIUS. 3rd decan of AQUARIUS (9-18 February).
Meaning: Moon in Aquarius brings the confrontation of the old with the new. Here the Aquarian "think outside the box" mixes with the lunar need for security: here the positive side is mental liveliness and seeking independence while at the same time being emotionally off and turning a cold shoulder. The Moon is also secretive so someone is not sharing thoughts and feelings when this card appears, leading to a sense of general aloofness and even shadiness - it may be ok to hold something for yourself, but not too much.
Keywords: strategy/ planning/ inventiveness/ deceit/ theft/ cheating/ lies/ gossiping/ criticism/ running away/ getting away with something/ procrastination/ keeping secrets/ misinformation/ self-doubt.
General message: act smart, but act with integrity.
Sentence: "Go solo, go far"

- Tarot 101:The Basics -
‣ Tarot is a divination tool consisting of (usually) a deck of 78 cards primarily used for spiritual guidance and tapping into your intuition in order to understand and reflect on what is happening in your life. Tarot has origins dating back to the 15th century, being commonly used as a card game and wasn't introduced as a divination tool until later on around 18th century. Occultists such as Antoine Court de Gébelin and Jean-Baptiste Alliette (known by the pseudonym "Etteilla") authored books that advocated the utilization of Tarot cards as a means of divination and personal exploration. Rider - Waite Tarot ‣ The Rider-Waite deck is one of the most popular and influential decks, usually recommended for beginners. Arthur Edward Waite collaborated with artist Pamela Colman Smith, both of whom were members of the Golden Dawn, to produce the Rider-Waite deck, which was initially released in 1909. The Major and Minor Arcana
‣ A standard deck consists of 78 cards, divided into two main categories: Major and Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana consists of 22 cards representing life lessons, karmic influences and big themes. The Minor Arcana is made up of 56 cards, divided into four suits: Pentacles (or coins),Cups,Swords and Wands. Each suit has 14 cards, including 10 numbered cards and 4 court cards (Page,Knight,Queen and King).
The four suits ‣ Pentacles - representing the element of earth and are associated with material possessions and the financial aspects of life, but can also signify emotional and spiritual prosperity as well. ‣ Cups - represent the element of water and are associated with the emotional aspects of ourselves. Cups cards often deal with matters of the heart, including love, relationships, emotions, and personal connections. ‣ Swords - representing the element of air and are associated with communication,intellect,conflicts,decision-making etc. They can indicate intellectual clarity or inner turmoil. ‣ Wands - representing the element of fire and are associated with creativity, passion, action and determination. Wands cards are strongly associated with creative endeavors, the pursuit of goals and projects and seizing opportunities.
Numerical association ‣ The numbered cards represent different stages or aspects of the suit's energy. Here's a brief overview: Ace - The Ace represents potential, new beginnings and opportunities Two - The Two cards represent balance, duality and choice making Three - The Threes are associated with growth, expansion and creative expression Four - foundation, structure, stability, manifestations Five - challenges, change, instability, conflict Six - harmony, cooperation, nurturing, balance Seven - introspection, spirituality, assessment, wisdom Eight - accomplishment, abundance, action, power Nine - attainment, fruition, fulfillment Ten - completion, end of a cycle, renewal
Spreads ‣ The specific layout of the cards is called a spread, where each placement provides an answer to a specific aspect of a question. Some most commonly used and spreads include the three card spread, five card spread and the Celtic Cross.
I'll dive into the individual meanings of the cards in another post but this is pretty much a summary of the basics. Hope it helps :)
