When Jane finally begged the professor to not take away all of her Teaching Assistantships as a way for this disgression, her mom accidentally leaves a drunken voicemail to this professor, on her phone, describing this man in the vilest terms, especially after he had actually decided that Jane’s track record was good enough to let her continue teaching.

The "Kata goes to college but also knows force and nightsister magic" is very funny, cause I can just imagine it being a normal day in class and then Kata uses the force or some nightsister magic and all her classmates are like 0-0
you KNOW she hid it super well for the first two years then a solid 12 minutes after the empire falls some imperial remnant tries to take her uni or smthn hostage (she's a merrical-akuna kid, trouble will find her) and she deals with it singlehandedly but it's like:
Other students: holy shit was that the force?!?! Kata, about to do the worst Jedi mind trick in history: No it was not

reminder that homura is a middle schooler. she is 13 or 14 years old, depending on source. she is not old enough to drive or have a permit. she is not old enough to live on her own (it's implied her parents are out of the picture in some way — in the US she'd need to be in adoptive or foster care, or at least have a guardian or social worker, but this appears to be handwaved in the series and none are ever shown). she cannot vote. she is not old enough to get a job (earliest i've seen is 14 in the US, and that's usually in not great environments, in summer, and for low pay and short hours). she is only "independent" in the sense that it's forced upon her by lack of any adult support — nobody helps her fill out school transfer forms, she lives alone, she has no shown family or even mentions of relatives, nobody visits her in the hospital, etc.
i say this because a lot of "anti homura" arguments act as if this information doesn't exist, and that homura is "actually an adult" or at the same level as one due to looping. she canonically is not. her brain and physical body are not developing, she is only learning walpurgis tactics and memorizing test answers. her brain is not developing so she's not "mentally 26", like is often claimed by "homura is a predator" truthers. i'm not even going to touch on how weird and borderline creepy it is to say "she's a child but so mature for her age (from extreme, repeated, potentially pre-series trauma), so she must be an adult and can be treated like one".
there is a reason that children are typically tried differently in the US. unless "tried as an adult" for very serious crimes, it is widely accepted that children (and even young adults) are more impulsive, think less rationally, and are generally "less responsible" for their actions due to not having the experiences of a full grown adult. children are less mature, more prone to "overreaction" and panic, and are immature — because they are kids.
homura is a child. she also has extreme trauma, potentially from before the series even began (where are her parents? are they just neglectful? dead? why isn't there even a single adult helping her?) that is never helped or addressed. homura doesn't get help for any issues she has (obvious ptsd and depression, borderline delusions over the past being "just a dream" in wraith arc). she is not some spoiled, rich, mentally stable almost-adult who's never faced a consequence. she is a young and traumatized teenager, young enough to be a middle schooler, and has experienced:
neglectful, absent, missing, or dead family/parents
watching her friends die horrifically almost a hundred times
having zero adult support at all, no caseworker or help
bullying, half being because she's disabled
having her soul ripped from her body without consent and learning if she ever loses her soul gem (or god forbid accidentally drops it somewhere), her body will basically be "dead"
learning she and all her friends turn into eldritch horrors when they die, a process shown in rebellion to be something they are aware for (aka the horror that witches aren't "just" bodies being moved, they are actively and constantly suffering and aware to some degree the whole time)
learning that the witches they fight are girls around their age who fell into despair, and not purposeless monsters
learned of the prospect that witches can potentially "regrow" via familiars, thus if their consciousness transfers, this shows the possibility of literally eternal suffering as the witch is "reborn"
realization that, the more she tries to save madoka, the worse the situation gets
having a full on breakdown with delusions in wraith arc, thinking maybe madoka was all just a hallucination or a dream she had
finding out in rebellion it wasn't a dream, but then thinking she betrayed madoka by not stopping her from contracting
becoming a witch whose whole theme is based around suicide and wanting and waiting to die, but not being able to
being a witch whose familiars are malicious towards her and belittle her
trying to "fix" her believed betrayal of madoka by making a new world, ending up hated by sayaka and isolated from her friends
is still stuck as a witch while the last event happens!!! (her soul gem is never shown purified)
all of this while she is 13-14.
homura is not some cruel adult playing god because she is bored and likes the power trip and wants the world to burn. she is a deeply traumatized and mentally ill child who never got help. she is not a predator — and i honestly don't know if that is more of a "she's a predator because she's the most openly sapphic" or "she's a predator because she's traumatized and thus 'acts weird' due to trauma" belief nowadays in most anti-homura spaces, i've seen both. she is not a murderer or rapist or whatever else i've seen (yes, "homura is a sexual predator" claims exist, despite this never once even being implied). she is not an abuser — you can argue she's cold or rude, but she is not "an abuser".
if a child like homura existed irl (and they do exist), a professional's first thought would not be "this is an evil, irredeemable, abusive predator who can be treated like an adult", it'd likely be a reaction of horror and deep concern of "what happened to this child to make her act this way?". someone being "the perfect victim" — that is, being soft, demure, sweet, docile, flawless — in response to trauma is a harmful myth for a reason. some trauma victims will react with anger. some may be overly happy in an attempt to prevent further abuse. some, like homura, end up acting "cold" to try and avoid being further hurt. it doesn't mean homura doesn't experience emotion, hates her friends and wants them to suffer, is a predator, is "a bad person", etc.
think! when you write posts about how homura is actually an evil, awful, no good, very bad person with no positive traits, remember she is a middle schooler. of course, she's not a "real" child, and thus doesn't exist to have her feelings hurt over it, but consider this: would you say these things to/about a real child? are you aware that "real children" (often victims of trauma themselves) relate to homura due to this? i was one of them at 14ish, and while "homura is evil [for acting like a traumatized child often does]" discourse never left me particularly hurt, i know it does genuinely upset several people i know. and if you had, say, a real life child relative who acted "cold" after seeing their friends die horribly, would you call them an evil and irredeemable abuser as well?

Fia may act passive aggressive, but she actually does care for Mostima
I don't know if Fia's care for Mostima has ever been in doubt, she's driven almost solely over anger for what Andoain did to her and Lemuen throughout all of Guide Ahead, she's just a stand-offish person overall so she's not exactly doting out affection towards her 24/7 (and it's not like Mostima cares for affection either, given how much she keeps Exu at arm's length, who more outwardly cares for her) The more interesting question is how much does Mostima care about Fiammetta? Is her aloofness and apathy real, or does she actually care about whether Fia comes to harm, or that Fia is burning herself to the ground obsessed with vengeance? I think the common reading is that after falling she isn't open towards Fiammetta & doesn't outwardly show her care for her, instead mostly interacting through ribs & jokes, but I think there's a couple of instances in Guide Ahead where she does show distress over Fiammetta, or at least a desire to try and empathize with her:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But there's also still the whole situation of Fiammetta being a second-class citizen as a Liberi in Laterano, and Lemuen and Mostima ocassionally being demeaning or dismissive of her, which can in part be understood as because of her status. Even though Mostima does care about Fiammetta, she might not necessarily see her as an equal. Mostima can't connect to the empathy physically anymore, but she still holds internalized belief in the superiority of those who can (as seen as how she continues to work with the Pope- she's still an agent of Laterano's state, at the end of the day). There's ton more to talk about regarding the two of them (how Fiammetta's suicidal singular-focus and disregard for her own health could also partially be born by being from a group that is treated as disposable to the Laterans, for example), but that's for another post. There's so much depth in their dynamic!

at the request of absolutely nobody, i present my vaguely fleshed out steddie mummy au
sources: i still own the mummy on vhs
there’s a possibility that the whole story of hamunaptra could be tweaked a bit to fit the story of henry creel/vecna/one into imhotep’s story, but the actual nitty gritty doesn’t matter as much as the actual dynamics and relationships between stobin and eddie. the important part is that a man is cursed to be buried alive, immortal but destined to awaken only to take vengeance.
fast forward and eddie munson ends up drafted into the military. (rick is apart of the french foreign legion stationed in egypt, and i’m not entirely sure how he manages it but eddie munson is apparently a colonel). things happen and eddie finds himself running away from the battlefield, only to stumble upon the ruins of hamunaptra. except they aren’t really ruins and hamunaptra is a myth. so he runs, but when he gets back to the city, alone and half dead, eddie finds that in his rush to leave, he’s grabbed some sort of puzzle box.
at the same time, one robin buckley has dedicated her life to learning more about ancient egypt. her passion for languages led her down a rabbit hole, and she drags her brother steve to egypt with her for further study.
robin is set up with a job at a small museum, working as an archivist. unfortunately, it’s a lot more tedious than she anticipated. it would be a lot better if she could work with steve, but forgetting his glasses at home nearly everyday isn’t super helpful when it comes to trying to sort books.
so what is steve doing in egypt, you may ask? evie’s brother jonathan in the movie literally schlepped around egypt fucking around with his sister and figuring out his next get rich scheme. steve isn’t really the type to open up his own nightclub in shanghai (a la the mummy: tomb of the dragon emperor), but just like jonathan, steve happens to stumble across a cryptex containing a map of the lost city of hamunaptra.
as an aside: i see steve doing the same minimum wage jobs he did in hawkins, just in egypt. i think it would be funny and makes so much more sense to me than him kind of skulking around for news of possible treasure. (bonus: the party in egypt, and dustin coming up to steve with a “brand new discovery” and it’s eddie’s puzzle box that he’s swiped. (THOUGH NOTE: evie and jonathan’s family is Rich. Rich Loaded. Rich Loaded British. So honestly, he doesn’t even have to work)
either way, when robin opens the cryptex and finds the map, she’s astonished. this is what she’s dreamed of her whole life—being an explorer and discovering lost civilizations. so she gets steve to find out where the puzzle box came from. his search leads them to the prison, where eddie munson is destined for execution.
the two of them talk to eddie, and eddie tells robin he’s seen hamunaptra in person. he’s been there. he’s walked the same sand that pharaohs had and seen the ruins that no other have laid their hands on. but eddie refuses to tell them the location, but steve convinces (bribes) the warden to let him go.
so the three of them set off to the city of the dead.
the details of the trip would make this post way too long, but i’m thinking about dynamics rn…
eddie is a little standoffish at first, sure that these rich kids won’t be able to handle themselves, and he’ll be stuck carting around two spoiled brats. and robin and steve don’t necessarily trust him. robin is wide eyed and blinded by eddie’s knowledge of hamunaptra, but steve keeps trying to keep her in check.
at first, eddie thinks steve is cold to him because of some upstairs/downstairs prejudice or big brother protectiveness. and eddie flirts even harder with robin, delighted every time he sees a scowl on steve’s face. even if robin keeps rolling her eyes and ignoring him, he isn’t looking at her anyways. he’s too busy searching steve’s eyes for some spark of disapproval. he doesn’t see that though. he sees worry and concern and fear. and that’s when eddie starts warming up to them.

Hii. It's been so long since I've opened Tumblr that I didn't even know you posted MDZS fanart. And let me say, I love it! I originally followed you because of your Cybersix fanart, and I love that now you also draw MDZS. Could you maybe draw Adrian/Cybersix and Lucas making googly eyes at each other? There are not enough Cybersix enjoyers in the world, and even less artists that have watched it. Love youu
Tumblr media
adrian and lucas unknowingly fuel a not insignificant part of the school rumour mill
(and tell me about it, i wish more people understood why they should love this series T0T if the comic wasn't absolutely intolerable we'd be unstoppable!!)

A question for the mutuals and followers: do you think, if Feyre died in ACOSF, that Feysand shippers would finally acknowledge Rhysand was abusive? Or would they still be in denial?

How would you describe Hermes? Most fictional adaptations that I've read have made him bland or a class clown obsessed with jokes. I'm trying to write something balanced but I'm unsure how to do it. Do you have any advice?
Personally, I think he fits chaotic neutral alignment more than any other god. I've based my interpretation not just on his myths but also on the domains he rules. For me he's an individualist who does things on a whim. Not that doesn't care for anyone else at all - I do think he genuinely and consistently cares for some of his divine family members. He's thick as thieves with Zeus, Apollo, Pan and Dionysus if you ask me. But towards the others, he is mostly just...idk if apathetic is the right word... but whatever he does - help or harm - depends on whether he thinks it's fun or not. He would also definitely and very easily convince others that he's helping them when in reality, he's not. As long as he is entertained, he would show no remorse for doing what he did regardless of how it would affect the others. This could be fun or terrifying, depending on the situation.
Like you said, the fun side of it is what's usually shown in most of media adaptations I've come across. He is usually written off as a comedic relief who does harmless pranks for laughs. So it would be a good change to see the other, terrifying side of this attitude of his. For all the complaints I have with Rick Riordan's characterization of gods, I've grown to like Hermes' portrayal in his series. He is fun, he is helpful. But he's also negligent and that actually has a significant effect on the others in the series. There's also one instance where Apollo recalls the tale of Hemithea and Molpadia, and he adds that if it was Hermes in his place, he would have just laughed and not done anything to save the girls. So if you want to write something more balanced, you could let his apathetic side peek in between his charming, cheerful nature. You can show that the consequences of his actions are not always fun and lighthearted, but can also be cruel, capable of truly hurting someone. Good luck!

Do you think Kubo not expanding on certain things in bleach is a good thing ? Like Orihime & her parents (I don’t think she’d ever want any contact with them if they were though) , did she see Sora ever again (maybe in soul society) idk it just makes me think sometimes.
yes, absolutely, one of the biggest bleach criticisms was that there were way too many characters & kubo wasn't able to balance all of them, so it would have been a logistical nightmare trying to fit in more
