just sitting here stewing about lib authors who blame poor people insead of publishers when they dont make as much money as they want

#saltblogging #booksalt #like...most people dont read books thru the ia #i learned about the ia lending services in literal librarian school #people who use those resources #(WHICH AGAIN ARE LEGALLY SCANNED BOOKS W STRICT LENDING LIMITATIONS) #are dedicated readers who spend money on books #and you look at the current state of things #w sky high unemployment and evictions #no gov assistance #in a time where people are encouraged but not enabled to just sit at home and do nothing #and your response is #THIS IS PIRACY THERE ISNT A PUBLISHER BAILOUT!!! #you are fucking cruel and evil #like the publishers dont need a bailout they monopolize the industry #and also lol no one is as generous w free ebooks/high % off sales then indie publishers #ur big name pubs will be fine #and also. yeah no one else is getting bailed out either #demand the government give you money #demand your publisher pay fair advances to its authors #(and demand amazon treat its employees fairly--they are the biggest bookseller out their and im sure you #certainly are as mad at them as the free scanned books at the ia right?) #but yelling at poor people who werent gonna buy your book anyways bc the option was free lending piracy or nothing #is the cruelest option #anyways dont yell at people to use libby instead of piracy #use your library instead of piracy #if you are going to move the goalposts on what you call piracy #to whatever makes you more money
