༉‧₊˚ ✩ ۫ CICADA's Apocalyptic Journey: From Netflix Stardom to a Sudden Disbandment
WRITTEN BY ... SEVENJEANS || POSTED ON ... 9/23/2023
In the ever-evolving landscape of K-pop, few stories have captivated audiences quite like that of CICADA. Debuting in 2020, this eight-member boy group shot to fame through their unique Netflix series, simply titled "CICADA." Blending elements of horror and apocalypse, the show unfolded a gripping narrative set in a world plagued by mutated cicadas. With twenty episodes spanning two thrilling seasons, the series left viewers on the edge of their seats.
CICADA's rise to prominence was marked by their debut mini-album, which may not have clinched any music show awards, but it flew off the shelves with an impressive 75,000 units sold. Their journey took an exciting turn in July of the same year when they returned with their second mini-album, "Chapter Two." The group's sales surged to 90,000 units, a testament to their growing fan base and musical prowess.
However, recent events shook the foundations of both CICADA and Angelico Entertainment. Son Jinhwa, the CEO of Angelico for two decades, resigned amidst a highly publicized and contentious lawsuit that exposed disturbing allegations. The abrupt departure of Son Jinhwa marked a turning point as Son Roan stepped into the CEO role, initiating a reconfiguration of the entertainment company.
As the winds of change swept through Angelico, CICADA's future hung in the balance. The group's composition underwent a significant alteration, with four members—Ash, Issei, Sol, and Sammy—deciding to continue their journey under Angelico. Ash and Issei assumed new roles as producers, while Sol and Sammy began preparations for an intriguing future project.
However, not all members remained in the fold. Daeul and Hyojin found their contracts unceremoniously terminated. When questioned about these terminations, CEO Son Roan was unambiguous in his response, stating, "Good riddance. No further questions about them, please."
With this sudden twist in their journey, CICADA's legacy is a complex tapestry of success, controversy, and change. As they embark on new chapters in their careers, the world of K-pop watches with bated breath, wondering what the future holds for these talented artists who once captured our hearts amidst the chilling chorus of cicadas.

One thing I like more about patho 2 compared to classic is that it feels much more rich in ideas about the relationship between the body and the self. Like it could just be a haruspex thing but even in marble nest theres more than p1 bachelor route in that regard imo. And like I get that in p1 the point is sort of that the townsfolk and the plague are all just imagined constructs rather than flesh and blood despite the fact that we care about them anyway, but as someone who is extremely fascinated by the literary relationship between the body and the 'soul' or consciousness I love how p2 reframes the narrative to explore that more.
The two are so often represented as a dichotomy; the crude, mortal machinery of the flesh in contrast to the divine, eternal soul. This view is even presented in p2, when Mark Immortell insists that the self, the individual, can outlive any one body. But for me, someone who is constantly in awe of the incredible complexity and sophistication of biological structures and mechanisms, there is no such distinction between the 'earthly' body and the 'divine soul'. The body and the consciousness are the inseparable components of the self; one the interface through which we experience everything and the other the processor with which we contextualize these experiences.

WIP Drinking Game
Thanks for the tag @disgraceful <3
RULES: make a drinking game that could theoretically (emphasis on THEORETICALLY as mine is a one way trip to the hospital lmao) be played while reading your WIP.
TAKE A SHOT WHEN...
Echo takes a shot
Jowan earns his “terrible boy.” moniker
The crew does something gay, illegal, or both
I use repetition and throw grammar rules in the trash to (usually purposefully) create the most stressful sentences on this goddamn earth
Pax eats something inedible
Jowan yeets something edible
Nixx/ Merc is the only voice of reason in the cast
A character dies because they were being too reasonable for the plot to handle
Echo drops a new horrible nickname for another character
Mommy issues drive/ derail the plot
BONUS: take a shot whenever anyone ends up partially/ fully blinded OR drowns
…this really made me face the fact that i am VERY mean VERY often to my characters in VERY hyper-specific ways lmao
