The flame bobbed up and down slightly. “There are people I care about greatly, and I want them to stay safe,” the ghost flame said, and Xie Lian felt distantly that he’d heard those words before somewhere. Or: Jiang Yanli becomes a Calamity.

Mojo's comments: Oh, this was an interesting crossover. POV focus is kind of on everyone (so if you aren't passingly familiar with both MDZS and TGCF, you'll probably be lost), as Jiang Yanli is found as a teeny new ghost flame and nurtured by her new friends into a full Calamity. The premise is so unique, I love it: a ghost who stayed because of love, rather than resentment.

Casting Otonashi Ichie in More Roles in a Month Than BushiRoad Gives Her in a Year Because She Deserves It Part 3: Wind Master Shi Qingxuan 🍃☁️

I love how I can make a ReLive crossover with literally any other fandom and the premise of the game makes it canonically plausible.

Ichie is perfect for Wind Master from Tian Guan Ci Fu/Heaven Official's Blessing. Surprisingly, though, this wasn't the role that inspired me to spend [REDACTED] hours planning this crossover.

It was actually Aijo Karen as Lang Qianqiu, followed by Rui and Tamao as HuaLian because making Rui play it cool while we all know she's internally screaming is fun.

Fast forward and now there's a big spreadsheet on my computer where I cast every single stage girl as a character in TGCF, and keep track of my other ideas for this crossover that I don't plan to do anything with.

Gotten into Heavens Official Blessing lately. And of course if I like something I have to bring my special interests into it soooo

Soukokou as Hualian. I feel like Chuuya would be Xie Lian and Dazai as Hua Cheng.

Ye it’s a little bit bc of Chuuyas whole Corruption god of destruction thing. Also Chuuya being very human and Dazai’s issue with feeling human.

Summary: No one truly likes a pitiful beggar; maybe they'll get a bit more money the first few days, but that quickly dries up. People like to see success stories, like to see the unfortunate dregs of society have smiles on their thin faces, and feel like they've helped in the long run. If you stay small, you'll only become smaller and blend in with the trash. Wei Ying is a good, smart boy. So he smiles and giggles and jokes. Most days he still goes hungry. Wei Ying is an orphan who fights to survive alone on the streets. But, sometimes, the streets give back just as it takes. (Complete, and will be updated as it is edited).

Mojo's comments: Ah, I loved this one so much! Widdle Wei Ying (about 5 years old) is absolutely precious and also terribly, terribly pitiful, doing his best to survive in the streets on his own. He eventually finds an abandoned old shrine where he can hunker down, and tries to pray to the god of it, but doesn't know how, and can't read his name, so no prayers actually get transmitted. He does manage to make some friends, though, one of whom is a very kind and gentle man who just says to call him Hua Xie. (Later in the story, little Wei Ying will bemoan, 'Do all grownups lie about their names and have more than one?') Wei Ying has been hurt a lot, by now, and takes a while to learn to trust his new friend. But the friend is kind, and takes things very slowly, and doesn't even introduce him to his husband for a long time. I was just. Really invested in this story. I pulled it all around me like a fuzzy blanket and gorged. It was everything I wanted. There are 5 parts to the story so far (most of them one shots based around Part 1, while Part 4 is a brief look in on baby Lan Wangji) and a 6th work is in progress. Lovely, lovely! It is so satisfying to see all of these wounded, flawed and loving grownups take a single look at Wei Ying and go, Yes, this one; we will love and protect him until our last breath. (The story is set more in the TGCF world, since that's where all the adults are. I think you'll enjoy the story fine not knowing much about them, since it's post-canon for that story. I have only seen the portion that's on Netflix (and read some fics), and knew nothing at all about Shi Qingxuan, and that didn't even slow me down.)

Bugs

This is inspired by the fact that I have finally played Hollow Knight! I’m only around 14 hrs in, but I know lots of the lore etc around the game I guess. Also def subconsciously (and not subconsciously in a couple places) inspired by @theballadofmars and @poorly-drawn-mdzs who both have made fantastic HK x MDZS(MXTX) AUs.

I think maybe some hollow knight spoilers? Slight close ups and rambling below

Hua Cheng- he’s a butterfly, but I felt that Grim’s aesthetic (if not much else) seemed kinda fitting for him. I like to imagine him as a fake out boss fight before he officially introduces himself

Xie Lian- I really wasn’t sure what to do with him. So I just made him a vessel, though his horns are meant to be reminiscent of the Pale King (no lore reasons)

Lan Wangji- I wanted him to be like, just a bug. But also a wanderer and protector WWX could run into. My second idea for him actually is kinda ooc for him I think (unless the grey mourner has more going on than I realize).

Wei Wuxian- vessel. It just seemed appropriate since the vessel dies and comes back. Im thinking maybe he once had a bigger form (akin to the hollow knight) long ago that cracked, he becomes a shade and eventually reforms or something idk. I was thinking bugs first, rational later. I think that he’d be either be more like Samus and shoot things from a slight distance or just beat people with his flute.

Luo Binghe- beast, or half beast in this case. I couldn’t get the idea of 4-8 big watery eyes out of my head

Shen Qingqiu- idk, the mantis tribe fights deepnest. It also seemed to fit OG Shen Qingqiu well, being a mantis.

I think if I keep playing HK I will revisit and revise this idea, I’m not really satisfied with XL and LWJ current iterations.
