I think
“I didn’t know they were weed brownies!” And “I swear, it’s the truth!”
Would be really funny with Chicago Fire if you’d be so kind 🥰🥰🥰
Tumblr media
Matt Casey liked to think that every return he made back to Chicago was a breath of fresh air. Not that looking after the boys was difficult and he didn't enjoy it, but a reminder of his old life was often exactly what he needed in his new one. Of course, seeing you was the primary reason he came home, but his 51 family was more than a bonus.
Matt had decided to make for the station before the hotel. There were only a couple hours left of shift and he was ready for the placid atmosphere typical after twenty-two hours already on the job.
“I didn’t know they were weed brownies!"
The bounce in his step waned slightly as he let the door shut behind him. He could tell his sister's voice from a mile away, but the tone of it was one he wasn't used to.
"I swear, it’s the truth. These little kids were selling them, I thought they were sweet kids—they seriously looked like sweet kids."
“I, yeah—" There was a snort of laughter. Sylvie. "We believe you, Y/N.”
"Don’t doubt it, girl!" Stella sounded as enthusiastic as possible, but that same hint of amusement was evident in her voice.
Matt couldn't help his concern, quickening his pace and rounding the engine truck. The ambulance back doors were open, and you were sat at the edge, terror written all over your face. Stella was sat on her haunches in front of you, hands on your knees. Sylvie was on one side, a blood pressure monitor in her hands, and Violet was rummaging through a bag on the other.
Your wide eyes—wide, groggy eyes—met his the moment he made himself visible.
“Matty!” You made to jump up, but the girls stopped you before you could, blurting all kinds about slowing down and blood and heart.
Matt could tell you were on the verge of tears, could see the quivering of your lips and the watering of your already watering eyes. Quickly, he dropped his bag on the floor and rushed across to envelop you in a hug, cupping the back of your head to his chest. "Hey, there," he said. He met Stella's eyes, the captain having stood up, and mouthed a "what happened?" over your head.
Stella mouthed a simple "brownies" back, as though that answered the question perfectly. Luckily, you helped out.
“Matt, I took drugs," you spoke quietly. Matt's frown deepened.
The girls jumped to attention. "Not on purpose!" Sylvie said.
"Not on purpose," Stella confirmed. "Some douche was giving his kids weed brownies to sell outside his garage. Either that or someone got their recipes seriously mixed up. Boden’s sent CPD down there.”
You twirled a lock of your brother's hair around a finger, still clinging to him. “CPD’s gonna beat someone's ass," you said pointedly, "I paid eight dollars for those brownies.”
Violet crossed her arms over her chest. “Hey, Y/N, how many did you eat again?”
“Four.” Your voice was muffled, yiur face buried in Matt's chest, but everyone heard it.
Sylvie. "Rough."
"They were so good," you said.
There was a general silence, something concern probably should have filled, but after a moment the amusement of the situation set in, and smiles broke out.
"Can I assume she's gonna be fine?" Matt asked. He gently pulled away from you and guided you to sit back down on the truck.
Sylvie nodded, crossing her arms. "She's got an elevated heart rate and she'll be loopy for a bit longer but yeah, she'll be okay."
"What if the kids come after me?" You let your head drop against Matt's shoulder.
"What's that, sweetheart?" Matt asked.
"What if the brownie kids come back because I sent the cops on them?"
Sylvie put a fist to her mouth
"That's not gonna happen," Matt assured you, "don't worry."
Stella clapped her hands together after Kylie's voice asking for her echoed throughout the station. "Okay, crazy, I'm gonna take you off duty for the rest of shift, okay?"
You face fell. "Oh, but—can I still stay at the firehouse?"
"Probably best," Stella agreed.
Matt stood up. "Hey, Lieutenant, you need someone to fill in?"
Stella grinned, pointing a finger towards him as she backed out of the room. "Luckily for you, ex-Lieutenant, a spot just opened up. Go get a drink, Y/N, and stay where we can keep an eye on you. Hey, hey, Hermann, can you escort her into the common room? Don't leave her."
Hermann, who'd been passing by with an apple in hand, didn't have much of a choice as Matt passed his sister onto him with a kiss to your hot forehead before running off to change. Hermann took your arm in his when you went to fall.
"The hell's up with you? You sick?"
"I took drugs."
"What?"

Is that the DHS threat that's keeping you up, or is it Severide? Mama Severide, most of all. Some stuff she said to me a few years ago has been ringing in my ears. She told me Kelly is destined to become his father, and that is not a man I should marry. She's wrong, Stella. I don't know anymore, Sylvie. Maybe Kelly really is a wanderer at heart. Amidst the chaos | Sylvie Brett
Tumblr media
Pairing: Sylvie Brett x Reader
Summary: You're involved in a big accident on the highway. You aid a woman who is about to give birth with the help of your paramedic girlfriend on the phone.
Warnings: Car crashes, and delivering a baby. If there's inaccuracies in the actual child birth, I am sorry, like reader I don't actually know the steps.
Masterlist | Chicago Fire masterlist | Words: 1.3k
You were driving home from work, when a few cars ahead of you, you saw a truck reacting to the traffic around it and ending up crossed over the highway. You hit the brakes as fast as you could but before you knew it your car got hit in the back, which made you hit the car in front of you as well. It caused a chain reaction of car crashes around you but it took you a moment to process what had happened, but once you did you tried getting out of your car.
Once you got out of your car you checked to see if you were hurt in any way that the adrenaline wasn’t letting you feel. When you couldn’t find anything you looked around and saw that a lot of cars had crashed along with yours. “Help!” You hear. “We need help!” The call snaps you out of your shock and you run to their aid, seeing as not many people have gotten out of their cars yet. You get to the man calling out and ask what’s wrong. “My wife, help my wife.” You move to the other side of their car and manage to open the door after a couple of tries. She’s breathing heavily, but you saw no major injuries. “What’s hurting you ask?” The wife just screams out in pain, so the husband answers for her. “We were on our way to the hospital, she’s in labor.”
You look around but don’t see a way for you to get her around this chaos. “Okay, here’s what we are going to do okay. I need you to turn my way okay and then I’m going to check you out, okay?” The woman nods and you help turn her your way. You can already see the baby’s head, the baby wasn’t waiting. “Okay, keep breathing for me. What are your names?” The husband answers again, “I am Rick and my wife’s name is Brooke.” - “Okay Rick, Brooke, I am y/n. My partner is a paramedic, so I am going to call her and she’s going to walk us through this okay. Rick, do you think you can do the breathing exercises with Brooke?”
After taking a deep breath you press call. She’s currently on shift, so you were hoping that she would be able to pick up. Without her guidance you didn’t know what you were doing, you had no medical training whatsoever. In your head you were saying pick up, pick up, pick up until you heard the call connect and Sylvie was on the other side of the phone. “Hi baby, you’re on speaker, Vi is with me. I’m sorry, I’m on a call and I can't really talk right now. I’ll call you back when we’re back at 51 okay?”
“Wait, Sylvie, I need your help. There was a big pile up on the highway, maybe thirty cars or so.” Before you can finish Sylvie interrupts you, “Baby, are you okay? The highway pile up is our call. We’re on our way.” You hadn’t realized that she would think that something was wrong with you so you quickly reassured her. “I’m okay, I’m not hurt. I do need your help though. I’m with a woman who is about to give birth here on the highway and help won’t come in time, I can already see the head. I’m going to need you to walk me through delivering this baby.” You place your phone on the dashboard once Sylvie and Violet told you to put it on speaker phone. “Okay Brooke, this is my partner Sylvie and her coworker Violet, they are going to talk us through this, are you ready?” Brooke nods and says, “Yes, I need this pain to be over.” She ends her sentence with another scream.
You help Brooke scoot to the edge of the seat and tell her where to place her feet. Next you take off your sweater to use it as a makeshift blanket like Sylvie told you. “Okay, Brooke, you’re doing great. The next time you feel a contraction coming you have to push.” It takes less than a minute for her next contraction to hit. “That’s it Brooke, push, push, push.” Your eyes are focussed on the baby's head. “Sylvie, the head is out, what now?” You had already reached up to support the baby’s head. “At the next contraction push again, the shoulders will be the hardest part Brooke, but after that it’s done. You’ve got this.”
Sylvie and Violet arrive at the accident scene before the next contraction starts. They get out of the ambulance and grab their bags quickly and take a moment to look at the accident, looking for you. “Where are you?” Sylvie asks. “Like four cars away from the truck that is blocking the road.” You tell them just before Brooke’s next contraction. “This is it Brooke, push as hard as you can.”
Violet grabs the gurney and tells Sylvie to get to you. “Gallo!” Violet calls over when she sees him getting out of Truck 18. “Help me get this gurney over to y/n.” Gallo rushes to her side, “Y/n’s in this?” They rush the gurney your way as she explains what was going on.
Brooke was working hard on her latest contraction, with one last big push the shoulders are freed and the baby easily slides out the rest of the way. Sylvie runs up behind you just as the baby is born and you wrap the blanket around her. Just as Sylvie sits down by your side the baby starts crying. You sigh with relief, knowing that the baby is okay. “Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl.” You say with tears in your eyes. Sylvie cuts the umbilical cord and the baby’s parents watch their newborn with awe.
You step aside to let Sylvie inspect Brooke. Violet and Gallo join you with the gurney. You stand to the side with the baby in your arms as Sylvie and Violet help Brooke onto the gurney. On the other side of the car, Gallo uses his halligan to open Rick’s door. You all get back to the ambulance together. You ride to the hospital with them for the young family to get checked out. They both thanked you for what you did and asked for your number to stay in contact.
Sylvie and Violet take you to the firehouse in the ambulance since your car was totaled, but you were glad that your car got the worst of it and you were fine. You stayed at the firehouse until Sylvie’s shift was over, talking to everyone that would listen about your experience of delivering a baby. Sylvie was immensely proud of you, not only for delivering the baby, but also of the fact that your first instinct was to help people.
Once Sylvie’s shift was over you decided today was worth celebrating with a dinner date. At dinner you got a text from an unknown number. You smile down at your phone when you realize that it’s Brooke. She sent you a picture of their little girl and the message read. Thank you for helping us bring this wonder into our lives. We would like you to officially meet Lucy y/n Smith. You tear up looking at the name they gave their little girl and show the message to Sylvie. She squeezes your hand, “You deserve it, you were incredible out there.”
With a full heart you let Sylvie take you home where you spend the rest of the evening cuddling up to her on the couch as your adrenaline had finally simmered down and your exhaustion started to hit. Sylvie held you in her arms as she watched the movie playing on the TV.

Clutz
warnings: bad writing lol
synopsis: You wipe out while doing Girls on Fire, Kidd makes Kelly call your brother.
Tumblr media
The first time you were introduced to Firehouse 51 was when Jay took you to a game and Kidd and Severiade were there. It was almost like Jay and Severiade were copies of each other, with the same sense of humour and attitude. Kidd had taken you under her wing, explaining what was happening at the game while Jay and Severiade cheered. When the game ended Stella encouraged you to drop by the Firehouse sometime to meet everyone else, seeming that everyone at Med and the district were all close.
You took Stella up on that, stopping by when they were on shift with baking. Normally you would take it to Jay or Will at work but they were both too busy today to stop and talk. When you wandered through the doors into the break room, immediately Stella jumped up to greet you.
In her Milwaukee accent, she declared, "This is Y/N Halstead! She's welcome here whenever." She said the last bit to you, grinning. She quickly went around the room rattling off the names of everyone.
You smiled, holding up your container, "I bought brownies."
Cruz got up from the table and mockingly raising his hands like he was thanking the lord, "You're a saint."
It became some kind of routine, often you would bake something a week, dropping it to the district and to the firehouse. They were always excited to see you; soon it became exactly how intelligence treated you. Like you had gotten a bunch of aunt and uncles overnight, who all cared about you.
Eventually, Stella convinced you to join Girls on Fire, roping Kylie into convincing you it was a fun program. Kylie told you about how Stella annoyed her until she committed to staying in Girls on Fire and now she was helping run it. When you joined, you loved it. It was nice to be around other girls who were like you and also be training in a fun way.
When Jay would pick you up after, he was always amused by how excited you were to tell him about what happened. Will was also impressed with the first aid they were teaching. He teased you about how he had tried to teach you and you didn't care, but now when it was someone else you were interested.
"That's because you suck at teaching," You replied.
Girls on fire was normally cancelled when it snowed, but today it had been on and off so Stella said she'd find something to do on the apparatus floor. Boden allowed Stella to park the squad and truck rigs on the driveway so you could use the floor. After a while of running around in turnout gear, you all started to complain about being overheated. Kylie had said something smart about getting used to the feeling if you wanted to actually fight a fire. Kidd had agreed, but opened one of the doors anyway so that there was some airflow.
There was a little snow here and there, but mostly clear. Jay had said that morning it was typical spring, somewhere in the middle of everything. The group was doing hose drills when your partner lost control of the spiralled hose. It slipped out of her hands and down the driveway. You all laughed and you went to grab it. Your partner had mixed up the couplings, meaning you could easily do a shoulder roll as you gathered up the hose. Kidd cheered on your technique, explaining what you were doing as you went. You held one arm around the hose and jogged back towards the group. As you headed back, you hit black ice. You felt yourself falling face first and threw your unoccupied arm out to stop your fall. When your palm hit the ground, your wrist buckled and you could almost feel the break.
You dropped the hose, immediately snatching your wrist to your chest and letting out a string of hushed curses.
Kidd came jogging over, "You good?"
You groaned, "Peachy," you gave her a thumbs up with your good hand.
Kidd chuckled, she offered you a hand up. You let her pull you up, groaning with the jolt in your wrist.
"Let me take a look," Kidd offered, she gently rolled up the sleeve on the turnout coak and looked at your wrist. It had swollen up to twice its size and turned bruised.
You screwed up your face, "Just my luck."
"I think you broke it," Kidd chuckled, amused by how irritated you looked. "Might have to get you to med,"
She walked you back towards the Firehouse, now more careful of the ground. When you got inside, Brett and Violet were waiting with Boden and Kelly. Boden gave permission for Violet and Brett to take you to Med, seeming it was easier than calling your brother. Violet and Kidd helped you out of the turnout gear then jumped into the back of the ambulance with you.
As you were pulling out onto the street, Kidd asked if you had your phone.
"Crap," you cursed, patting your pockets, "I left it in my bag at the station."
Violet laughed, "Worrying about breaking your phone but not your wrist?"
Kidd laughed, "I'll call kelly."
Tumblr media
Jay answered his phone on the second ring, "Halstead."
"Hey Jay," Kelly spoke from the other end, "Kidd asked me to call you-"
"Is everything okay?" Jay interupted.
"Uh-" Kelly hesitated, the silence allowed Jay to hear the blearing of the dispatch bells through the phone, "Kidd, Sylvie and Violet took Y/N to Med- look, I gotta go, I'm sorry. Kidd will meet you at med." Kelly rushed through his words, hanging up so that he could respond to the call.
Jay slowly put down his phone, a frown. If you were hurt you would have called him, but why would Kidd be taking you to Med if you weren't hurt?
"Who was that?" Kevin asked as he walked past Jay's desk.
"Kelly Severiade," Jay responded, "He said Y/N's been taken to med."
"What?" Hailey quickly walked over, "Why?"
"He didn't say," Jay came to his senses, grabbing his keys and phone, "Just that Kidd was taking her to Med with Sylvie and Violet."
Voight caught the tail end of the conversation, urging the team to pack up so they could all go to Med for support. He could tell from the look on everyone's faces how they were all quietly worried.
Jay had to hold back the urge to flick on the lights and sirens. and speed across town to Med.
Tumblr media
Will could hardly control his laugh when he watched you walk into Med, cradling your arm.
"Laugh it up, William," You scolded, letting him help you onto the bed in an exam room.
"I will," He chuckled, gesturing for you to give him your arm so he could look at it.
You pouted, "Can't I have a decent doctor?"
Will rolled his eyes dramatically.
"I doubt you'll find one here," Maggie said as she walked in, coming to stand at your good side with a hand on her hip, "What have you done to yourself?"
You grinned sheepishly, unable to find the words.
Kidd came to your rescue from the doorway, explaining how you managed to wipe out and land on your wrist. And then going on to explain how you left your phone in your bag so you couldn't call Will or Jay before.
"Let's get an X-ray for that wrist then," Will said, watching Maggie type it into her tablet, "It's probably broken so we'll put a call into ortho to get it casted."
Maggie nodded along, putting her tablet away and propping your wrist on a pillow and placing an ice pack over it.
"Ortho is backed up, it might be awhile before they get down here."
"You can use that time to think of what colour cast you want," Will said with a playful grin. He let you know that he would have to check on a few different patients but he would be back to see the X-rays and check on you later.
Kidd took a seat next to you, smiling and asking how you felt.
"Like an idiot," You replied, "You always warn us to be careful and I had to go breaking my arm."
Kidd laughed, "Hey, at least you got us out of the firehouse for a bit."
You smiled, watching Sylvie and Violet come over to the door after stocking up the ambo and making a hot coco trip.
Sylvie put a cup on the tray next to you, "Hot coco for you."
"Thanks," You replied, cradling it with your good hand.
Violet jokingly ruffled your hair, "Anything for our favourite patient."
You laughed, bidding your goodbyes after they said that they had to leave for the firehouse. Kidd asked you to keep her updated and even if you couldn't do girls on fire, you should still come along. You said you would, you could stand on the sidelines and cheer like her and Kylie.
You were left alone for a little while before Will finally returned with the X Ray tech.
Will showed you the Xray on the screen, "Well it's definitely broken."
"Oh thanks, doc," You scowled, "I couldn't tell."
Will laughed, taking a seat and leaning on the bed while you spoke with the Ortho resident. The resident offered you your pick of four colours and you had made Will choose because you couldn't. Will had immediately chosen Black and you scoffed, 'No way.'
You almost hit the roof when Jay came running into the room. He looked terrified and completely out of breath. He stood staring at you and Will for a moment, then the rest of Intelligence came barreling in after him.
"Hello," You said slowly, confused why they were all there.
"Kelly called," Jay said.
"I forgot my phone at the firehouse, Kidd didn't have your number," You said sheepishly.
Jay let out a sigh, "I thought you were seriously hurt."
Will was laughing quietly, "Why didn't you call me?"
Jay frowned, "I tried," He argued, "You didn't pick up."
Wills smile fell, "oh,"
You burst out laughing, "Wow, one job big brother."
Jay turned back to his team, telling them they could go seeming you clearly weren't about to die. He came around the bed and took a seat at the end.
He gestured to your arm which was now cast in bright yellow, "What happened?"
You waved your casted wrist around, "Broke my wrist."
Jay shook his head in disbelief, "How did you manage that?"
"I slipped on black ice," You shrugged.
Jay looked a little disappointed, "Of course you did."
"What is that supposed to mean?"
Will smiled, "He only means you aren't always the most sure footed."
You faked being offended, "Are you calling me a clutz?"
"Yes," Both your brothers replied.
Will and Jay laughed as you crossed your arms and sunk into the bed with a pout, "Thanks a lot."

Lost & found | Sylvie Brett
Tumblr media
Pairing: Sylvie Brett x Reader Reader pronouns used: she/her
Prompt: “They found out we’re dating because my lockscreen is a picture of you.”
Masterlist | Chicago Fire masterlist | Words: 814
Truck 81 was the first to arrive back at the firehouse, after a call that involved all 51 companies. Otis stayed behind in the truck for a moment to check some things out, while the rest of the team made their way to the canteen. When he got out himself, he noticed a phone laying on the apparatus floor. He picked it up and turned it on, surely he could figure out who’s phone it was from the lockscreen right? He felt proud of himself for thinking of that when he recognized you on the lockscreen. He pocketed the phone, since you weren’t back from the call yet, and followed the rest of truck 81 to the canteen.
Otis thought he heard Engine 51 come back in, so he walked back to the apparatus floor, only to find it was Squad 3 that had arrived back. “Hey, Otis, what’s up?” Cruz greeted his best friend. “Oh, nothing, I found Y/n’s phone on the apparatus floor and thought I heard Engine 51 come in.” They head back to the canteen together, Otis plopping down once again. The team was deep in conversation, so they didn’t hear when Engine 51 actually did arrive, until the doors opened and your team started piling in. Otis was about to stand up to head your way but Cruz stops him, “Look, she’s using her phone.” Otis frowns when he sees that you are indeed using your phone. “What made you think it was hers?” He grabs the phone out of his pocket and shows Cruz the background. “I figured that it was hers, because she is the lockscreen.” Cruz starts smirking, “Dude, that means someone else on the team either has a crush on y/n or is dating her. We have to figure out who this phone belongs to.”
The two went on full investigation mode, with a notepad in hand they crossed out everyone’s name that they saw using their phone. Of course, not everyone was on their phones, but they were already able to cross a few names off of the list. They tried to get some other people to show them their phones, by asking to see a certain picture or asking to use their phone to call. Nearly everyone was now crossed off the list. Which made them spy around in the office as well, thinking that maybe it was someone that worked there. The office employees could also all be crossed out.
It wasn’t until Ambulance 61 pulled in that they found out who the phone belonged to. Dawson left the ambo to go straight to the canteen, like all the others had done, but Sylvie stayed behind, looking all over the Ambulance like she was looking for something. The boys exchanged a look before they made their way over to Sylvie, “Looking for something?” Otis said, waving the phone in the air. “Ah great! I thought I had lost it. Where did you find it?” Otis explains where he found the phone. “It must’ve fallen out of my pocket on my way to the ambulance then.” You reach out to take the phone from Otis but Cruz is quick to grab it from his hand instead, “Not so fast, Brett.” She furrows her brow, “What do you mean? It's my phone?” Cruz smirks as he turns on the phone, facing the screen towards Sylvie, “I think you have some explaining to do.” Sylvie’s cheeks turn red.
Back in the canteen you watch as Otis and Cruz walk in full of excitement, talking amongst themselves, with a defeated Sylvie on their tail. Sylvie grabs a cup of coffee before she makes her way over to the sleeping quarters, without speaking a word to anyone in the canteen. You stand up and follow her, finding her sitting on her bed staring at her phone. “Hey, is everything alright? Did something happen with Cruz and Otis?” You sit down next to her, placing your hand on her thigh, your eyes filled with worry. “I lost my phone, and they found it.” You nod, hoping she would continue, because that didn’t sound too bad. “They found out we’re dating because my lockscreen is a picture of you.”
“Aw, Sylvie, I didn’t know you did that. That is so cute. Can I see which one?” Sylvie hands you her phone. “You’re not upset that they found out?” You shrug, “They were going to find out eventually, right? Plus, like I said I’ve never minded people knowing, it was just nice having us for just us for a while before the team knew.” Sylvie leans into your side and lays her head down on your shoulder. “Yeah, you’re right.” You kiss the top of her head, “Yeah, don’t worry about it, we’re good.” Before Sylvie can respond the alarm rings, and you’re both off to another call.
