Book Review…Midnight on the Marne by Sarah Adlakha France, 1918. Nurse Marcelle Marchand has important secrets to keep. Her role as a spy has made her both feared and revered, but it has also put her in extreme danger from the approaching German army. American soldier George Mountcastle feels an instant connection to the young nurse. But in times of war, love must wait. Soon, George and his best friend Philip are fighting for their lives during the Second Battle of the Marne, where George prevents Philip from a daring act that might have won the battle at the cost of his own life. On the run from a victorious Germany, George and Marcelle begin a new life with Philip and Marcelle’s twin sister, Rosalie, in a brutally occupied France. Together, this self-made family navigates oppression, near starvation, and unfathomable loss, finding love and joy in unexpected moments. Years pass, and tragedy strikes, sending George on a course that could change the past and rewrite history. Playing with time is a tricky thing. If he chooses to alter history, he will surely change his own future and perhaps not for the better. Midnight on the Marne is a fast paced story inspired by the true events that occurred at the final battle of World War I. The characters are very well done! The love, perseverance and the bonds that they create with each other are beautiful! I liked that this book had plenty of historical details and facts added into the story! There were so many creative and surprising twists! It's an intriguing and satisfying read! Definitely not your typical historical fiction story! Thank you Suzy Approved Book Tours and Sarah Adlakha for sharing this absolutely amazing story with me! If you were given the opportunity to go back in time and change one thing would you do it? #MidnightontheMarne #SarahAdlakha #books #bookreview #booktour #read #booklover #SuzyApprovedBookTours #historicalfiction #greatread #bookrecommendation #booksta #booknerd #reader #bookstagrammer #forgebooks https://www.instagram.com/p/ChFCkBNqdaB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

✨Today’s currently reading✨
.
You guys, this month has been rough for me with reading. I have been having a hard time managing pain(MS, Syringomyelia,Chiari Malformation) which always makes it hard to read. Luckily I am super close to finishing my second book for the month of August thanks to @suzyapprovedbooktours @lakeunionauthors and @bdavisauthor 💙
.
Synopsis from the publisher: Lizzy Moon never wanted Moon Girl Farm. Eight years ago, she left the land that nine generations of gifted healers had tended, determined to distance herself from the whispers about her family’s strange legacy. But when her beloved grandmother Althea dies, Lizzy must return and face the tragedy still hanging over the farm’s withered lavender fields: the unsolved murders of two young girls, and the cruel accusations that followed Althea to her grave. Lizzy wants nothing more than to sell the farm and return to her life in New York, until she discovers a journal Althea left for her—a Book of Remembrances meant to help Lizzy embrace her own special gifts. When she reconnects with Andrew Greyson, one of the few in town who believed in Althea’s innocence, she resolves to clear her grandmother’s name. But to do so, she’ll have to decide if she can accept her legacy and whether to follow in the footsteps of all the Moon women who came before her.
.
The Last of the Moon Girls by Barbara Davis has a little bit of everything: historical fiction, murder, multigenerational story, second chances, and a magical witchy kinda vibe. I love the beautiful writing and complex characters that author Barbara Davis has woven into this story. This book has been a perfect escape from reality, and I can’t wait to see how it all ends. Full review coming soon!

Suzy Approved Book Tours Review: The Secret Of Rainy Days by Leslie Hooton
Suzy Approved Book Tours Review: The Secret Of Rainy Days by Leslie Hooton
My Thoughts Hooton has created an unforgettable novel and I’m so pleased to have had the chance to read this one. It’s a beautifully penned fiction novel, filled with southern ways and flawfully chiseled characters. This novel was a true pager turner for me! I absolutely loved following Bit and getting to know her. I loved feeling all of her emotions as she grew and became of age, trying to find…

Book tour/review: A Child Lost: Audiobook
CW: Mental Health/Depression, Miscarriage, Domestic Abuse This is the 5th in the series about Henrietta and Inspector Howard, and while it can be read as a standalone, I think the reader will have a better background into the characters and their story by reading the other books, even if you go back after, which is what I plan on doing. What Happens in the dark ch 1 moving in
Jewel's p.o.v
When I said that I wanted to live on my own, that was before I made it to LA. I had drastically changed my mind after.  L.A. was expensive as hell, but my master wanted me to stay nearby where he could reach me. Unfortunately, the Vampiric Council had found out that he was dating his ghoul and didn't approve of it, which I really don't understand why they care so much, but I also don't want to see him get into trouble. He is the Baron of Hollywood, after all, we just really can't he seen together romantically unless in private that's all. Until I decide that I want to become a vampire too, anyhow. That's when our romance can go public which I would but I’m not quite ready to give up food anytime soon. I also  don't want to give up on my only true loves Isaac, Romero, and Tacos so here i am at this big fancy...
Well..
...Almost fancy big apartment that I will be sharing with several other girls. My boyfriend Romero stopped at the new apartment to drop off all of my things before kissing me goodbye. The Vampiric Council seems unaware that Romero is romantically involved with Isaac as well, but if they do know then it's mighty unfair that they’re kicking me out  to the curb. Of all people, the Vampire Council thinks sex with ghouls is “taboo and unnatural”- says the creatures who drink the blood of the living to survive- but whatever. What's been said is done and all set in stone. maybe one day in the future human and monster will be able to live together in harmony but, until now it's best if I lay low for a while. The Nosferatu and Toreador loved to gossip like the old crones they were and that's another reason I decided I had to move out of the master's place for the time being.
Pulling up in my pink dream car, Romero helped me drag all my things along with the movers who arrived just in time. Rolling up to the new place, the door opened and I thought it was my best friend Suzi, but nope, a very beautiful goth woman with dark red hair answered the door cheerfully and her smile was so contagious, I couldn't help but smile too. She must be a Malkavian, no one is ever that cheerful after the embrace.
“Oh you must be Jewel! My name is Alysa, it's nice to meet you," the woman said while extending her hand out to greet me.  Smiling, I shook her hand.
''It's nice to meet you too, Alysa, Thanks for inviting me to live here I really appreciate it,"  I replied back, adjusting my purse on my shoulder. Alysa was just about to say something when a loud raspy cackle startled us both.
“Well if it isn't Barbie back from the Dream House!” the female Nosferatu mocked. Sashaying up to me she looked me up and down grimacing in disapproval at my outfit. Apparently, pink shorts and a lace top were forbidden in her eyes.
'' And lookie here ya even got a Gucci belt on and a pink hair ribbon with high heels. Wow, you must be Isaac's favorite little plaything…" she hissed rudely. Alysa quickly stood in between us
“She didn't mean that, Jewel …..Marie be nice!" She spat in an annoyed tone.
The Nosferatu rolled her eyes before giving us both the finger and walking away “Enjoy your new dream house 'bitch!’” she yelled back. I almost threw the pumpkin spiced drink in my hand right at her bald head. Alysa, sensing that the ghoul was really getting agitated, grabbed the other woman's hand and led her upstairs.
VV and Yukie were discussing plans for tonight when the two bumped into them.
''Hey Yukie, hey VV this is the new roomate I was telling you about, remember?"  she said cheerfully, and the others looked confused for a second before it finally hit them. ''Oh yeah, the witch....i mean necromancer... er... never mind. My name is Yukie it's really nice to meet you." the Japaneese woman said happily, shaking Jewel's hand.
“Finally, pleasant people!” the necromancer thought to herself before shaking hers back.
'' and my name is V.V.…”the other red headed vamp started before gasping “Oh my God, who did your nails?"  she asked quickly snatching the black woman's hand and admiring the pink and jewel decorated nail art on them,  making the young ghoul smile. ''Oh, Kiki from Ooo La La nails did it for me and it only cost me $40 bucks, you should definitely go to her," she recommended. The four girls chattered on and on until it was time for Alysa to show her upstairs to her room where Jewel and the movers unloaded all her belongings. After everything was unloaded, Alysa showed Jewel the rest of the apartment. The kitchen was an industrial wooden theme with old fashioned chairs and a classic looking fridge from the 1950s in that famous robin’s egg blue. The sink was polished copper and absolutely spotless. A breakfast nook sat in the corner, furnished with plush pillows and bare, antique style light bulbs were suspended from the ceiling giving the nook a warm glow.
“That's strange,” Jewel thought to herself, “the kitchen looks absolutely spotless, a little too spotless for a house packed with ghouls.” Upon opening the fridge, it was filled with blood packets of all blood types and organic food, junk food, energy drinks, soda and several types of snack food, and a leftover chinese take out box. Other than the blood in the fridge, it was a typical bachelorette diet.At that the new ghoul closed the fridge.
One the way to the bathroom, Alysa showed her the bathroom and the room next to it was Suzie's room, marked with a bright blue door, which was shut and the room was off limits for now.  Jewel was sad that her friend was off at work and not at home, but she will be back soon enough. It took a while, but the pair finally made it to the library. The house as well as the library was decorated with tons of plants of all types in several different pots and books of all literature types. From twilight, to classical vampire literature from old to new, books from all sorts of ages and dead languages, and most impressively,  books stolen from the tremere chantry itself.Jewel whistled in amazement and amusement. Upon looking at the couches littered with decorative pillows of all sorts from tacky, to plain,to glamorous, to macabre, to kawaii. It was obvious that all the housemates contributed to the decor was so odd that the ghoul couldn't help but laugh. Off to the side of the library, th last place they visited was the game room which looked like an arcade and chock full of nerd stuff, including a book shelf full of board games and dice of all shapes and sizes. Alysa gave Jewel the tour of her own room- it was a mix of gothic and nerdy with dark purple walls and black lace curtains and  a rather odd sized coffin in the middle of the room.
“Go on, open it”
Inside the coffin was a bright orange electric guitar. Alysa started to laugh hysterically.
“Don’t worry, we don’t sleep in coffins if we don’t want to. Honestly, they are not very comfortable.  But I adore coffin cases, even in life I thought it was funny.”
Looking around the rest of the room, there were Star Wars posters and a victorian era vanity covered in makeup and a little computer desk covered in textbooks and robot pieces and small statues of video game characters. There was also a couch with a bright red fuzzy blanket and a nest of pillows, this was probably where Alysa slept. It was refreshing for Jewel to see a fellow nerd who shared her same interests that this place was starting to feel like home.
The last place visited was Two's room. He just moved in yesterday, and tonight he was busy painting his room all black. He was so engrossed in painting, he didn't see them come in until Allysa knocked on his door and accidentally scared him. Upon realizing who it was, the younger ghoul stepped down from the stepladder to greet them.
'' Hey Two, sorry to bother you, but this is the new roomate I was telling you about yesterday, and her name's Jewel." Alysa piped up happily pushing the pink-clad necromancer ghoul towards him.
''It's nice n- n - nice to meet you. Damn it I stuttered."  The necromancer cursed and the other ghoul laughed.
“It's fine; no need to be embarrassed. Alysa here told me all about you. Now I'm not gonna lie dude, I got kind of scared because you know Craigslist always has creeps on it, but this is a nice surprise. Also, love the outfit, you look like a model."  He complimented and that made Jewel crack a smile.'
“Aw man, thank you so much that means a lot……" but before she could even finish what she was going to say, a loud bang from the kitchen startled all three of them. In high concern, all three supernaturals ran to go see what was happening in the kitchen.
Two and Alysa exchanged concerned glances when they entered the kitchen and saw Marie stuffing her face with the flaming hot Cheetos  that she knew damn well that belonged to Jewel and purposely ate them to get under the other's skin.
''You asshole! My boyfriend got that for me not you! And why are you eating human snacks anyway, aren’t you dead?"  Jewel asked and Marie snickered before stuffing the last chips down her grotesque throat. ''Sorry, I didn't see your name on the bag…. The nosferatu shut right up and she placed a clawed hand on her mouth.  Turning a horrible sickly green color that was not normal, especially for a Nosferatu. Pushing them out the way, Marie quickly ran into one of the unused guest bathrooms and slammed the door. Two grimaced while Alysa nervously bit her lip. Now Jewel would have felt bad for the other woman had she not been rude within the grand total of five minutes of knowing each other, but she considered this as karma. A horrible gag erupted from the nearby bathroom making her feel nauseous herself.
Jewel suddenly no longer wanted her pumpkin spice drink and set it on the granite counter .
''Um sorry about Marie, she’s not always like this. Let's get you settled in, shall we?" Two asked and the black woman nodded before leaving upstairs with the other ghoul as Alysa went over to check on Marie.
“Don’t worry about Marie, I’ll keep an eye on her” the Malkavian reassured the newest housemate.
That bathroom definitely was going to have to be cleaned with bleach tomorrow.
To be continued….

Top Ten Stories of 2018
Year of the Tiger
Perhaps Ben Hogan’s come back to win six majors after a head-on collision with a bus was more amazing but Tiger Woods’ return from four back surgeries and other well publicized problems to win the Tour Championship is by any measure remarkable. Towards the end of 2017 the prognosis was he might never be able to play professional golf again much less at a championship level. However, he did come back competing in 18 tournaments and the Ryder Cup this year. Many fans are pulling for the soon to be 43-year old to continue his run at Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 majors, Woods has 14. However, even if he never wins another tournament, 2018 will always be known as the year of the Tiger.
Ryder Cup
The U.S. lost again, this time in France by the embarrassing margin of 10½ to 17½.  Reasons advanced by the cognoscenti included poor captain’s picks, poor tee shots, poor putting and poor attitude. The real reason however is Team USA got just plain whupped by Team Europe. We played lousy and the Euros played great. Period. Until that changes American fans can only look forward to more of the same. The old saying applies, sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to do.
Lefty’s Brain Cramp: Rarely does a professional do something as inane as Phil Mickelson when he hit a moving ball on the 13th green during Saturday’s third round of the U.S. Open. The whole episode was ridiculous regardless of his excuse, rationalization, justification or reasoning if indeed any reasoning even existed at the time. After the round Phil offered to withdraw if the USGA felt he had crossed the line of acceptable behavior, but they had already ruled he would not be disqualified. A social media frenzy erupted accompanied by the usual Olympian pronouncements from certain analysts. Lefty’s real problem was his frustration boiling over trying to complete a career grand slam on greens that had become unplayable.
Shinnecock U.S. Open Setup: The USGA continues their flawed philosophy of the proper way to setup a course to hold a U.S. Open. The idea seems to be after checking on the predicted weather specify course playing conditions, primarily length of the rough and speed of the greens, to the very edge of playability. The problem arises when actual weather conditions don’t match weather predictions and the result is usually a disaster. The mavens of Far Hills thought they had it figured out Thursday at Shinnecock when the wind, 4-inch rough and thigh-high fescue made an extremely tough test even with the generous 41-yard average width of the fairways. Thursday and Friday served to quiet the critics at least temporarily but Saturday afternoon their course setup philosophy caught up with them. Shinnecock greens were virtually unplayable for even well struck approaches and putts. The USGA issued a non-apology but they did nothing to mitigate the fact they had really messed up…again. In order to compensate, Saturday night the greens were heavily watered which meant for Sunday’s final round averaged an astonishing 3.2 strokes lower than Saturday.
Whaley to PGA President: Suzy Whaley, after having stepped through the chairs, assumed the top spot of the PGA of America which represents the 29,000 dedicated Professionals running the nation’s golf courses and teaching us how to play. The PGA also runs two extremely profitable events. The PGA Championship which is one of golf’s four major championships and the Ryder Cup, the premier international golf competition. Whaley, a top-tier player in her own right, is the first women to head the organization and has said she hopes to make golf more accessible and encourage more women to play. Those are noble ideals and for years along with juniors have been part of PGA outreach programs. It would seem a more germane goal for her two-year term would be finding a way to put some of the profits from the Ryder Cup and the PGA Championship into the pockets of the Association’s members.
“Table for One”
Patrick Reed, a.k.a. Captain America, made headlines and alienated lots of people when he blamed Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk and teammates Jordan Spieth and Tiger Woods for his record of 1-2-0. His lone point came in singles when he didn’t have to put up with a partner. Spieth supposedly earned Reed’s anger because of his desire to break up their successful partnership from the 2016 Ryder Cup and 2017 Presidents Cup. According to Furyk Reed knew at least two weeks ahead of time his partner would be Woods and said he was OK with the switch. In what has to be considered an unimaginable stretch of logic one commentator has said Reed will do for the PGA Tour as John McEnroe did for tennis—others have given him the nickname of “Table for One.”
Rules of Golf Modified
The USGA and R&A published a major redo of the Rules of Golf incorporating several important changes starting with the use of everyday language to replace the convoluted legalistic grammar and syntax of previous versions. Add to that there are now ten fewer rules and there may be a reasonable chance players will actually refer to the rule book after of course they replace the water stained version wrapped in a mildew covered rain jacket stuffed their golf bag’s outside pocket. We particularly like the modified Rule that prohibits caddies from standing behind players to ensure they are aimed properly, a common sight on the LPGA Tour. Lining up a shot is an integral part of golf and it’s not in the spirit of the game to use a caddie-cum-coach.
The Match: Eighteen holes at Shadow Creek with Lefty beating Tiger on pay-per-view featured uninspired play and technical malfunctions but did show us three things. First Mickelson is $9 million richer and secondly, he and Woods have an entertaining rivalry. Number three is all the stick-in-the-muds who said they would “never pay money to watch” and the corollary “they should be playing for their own money” might consider getting a life…have some fun and can the sarcasm, cynicism and carping. True the golf was not exactly Ben Hogan versus Sam Snead, but the overwhelmingly important point is The Match brought positive attention to golf from the usually less-than-attentive so-called mainstream media who still seem to believe it’s a game in trouble and played only by rich white guys.
Golf Gambling
Legalized golf gambling is coming to a state near you after the Supreme Court ruled sports wagering regulation was up to individual states not the federal government. This raises the specter of unscrupulous people attempting to influence the outcome of PGA Tour tournaments and the Ryder Cup with tactics such as tossing a full beer cup at a player during his tee shot. Americans no longer consider gambling to be a moral issue as shown by all the state lotteries allowed usually under the guise of raising money for worthwhile things such as education. Gambling gives states a stream of revenue not requiring an increase in taxes. Rest assured the PGA Tour is making plans to capitalize on legalized betting through rights fees or a similar toll on the state-approved bookies.
Shorter Tour Schedule: The PGA Tour decided competing with football for the attention of fans doesn’t work so the 2018-2019 season ending FedExCup playoffs will finish before the NFL season starts. The PGA Championship is being moved from August to May where it replaces The Players which will be moved to March and there will only be three playoff events rather than four. Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said, “This will enhance the visibility of the FedExCup Playoffs and overall fan engagement with the PGA TOUR and the game as a whole.” How fewer tournaments and therefore fewer playing opportunities will help “the game as a whole” is not clear but such quibbling is beneath us.

Who Needs a Photo Permit in Nevada State Parks? http://ift.tt/2iCIMeL
Nevada Law and the Nevada Administrative code have a simple definition of when you need to have a permit to shoot photos in their parks. It is based entirely on whether or not the pictures will be sold.
Nonetheless, the policy of the Parks division is that anyone shooting pictures of a model is assumed to be doing “commercial photography” even when they have evidence to the contrary. After a lengthy discussion with both a park and the Deputy Administrator of the Parks Division, they have confirmed this interpretation. And it’s worse than just getting a permit; there is a burdensome procedure you have to go through before the shoot, even if it’s just two people, and as a permittee, you are highly restricted in where you can shoot.
Let’s do a little thought experiment. Suppose there are two fellows, Bradley and Randy, who are in a State Park in Nevada.
Bradley is an internationally-known commercial photographer. He has been engaged by a top ten advertising company to produce photos for use by a foreign luxury car maker. Their idea is to take pictures of iconic American landscapes and Photoshop in their autos to make their product feel more “American.” Bradley is being paid a retainer of $50,000 to take the pictures, plus will get an additional $20,000 each for every one they use in their ads. He and his camera wander around all over the various State Parks in Nevada for two months, shooting away.
Randy made a bunch of money in the tech industry. He has used it to buy a Nikon D810 and a really big lens. He also has used that money to attract a high maintenance girlfriend, Suzy. Suzy is “a model” — she will tell anyone who listens because she graduated from Barbizon and got a job once handing out flyers at a local liquor store. In fact, since she got paid for that, she proudly tells that same anyone that she is a “professional model.” While driving around in the park, Randy has Suzy get out of the Maybach once in a while and takes her picture. He loves the power he feels from directing her, and she loves to have her picture taken. When they get home you just know that Suzy will proudly plaster those pictures all over her Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. Because, well, that’s what “professional models” do.
Do either of them need a permit for “commercial photography” in the Parks? Well, let’s see if we can figure it out…
The law and regulations tell us:
‘Commercial photography’ means photography engaged in for financial gain, including, without limitation, the sale of a photographic image as a product or for use in advertising, motion pictures, portraits, television productions or portfolios and the archiving of an image by a person who uses photographic skills, equipment or resources to provide a photographic product for sale. [Source: NAC 407.0071, emphasis added.]
Well, Bradley is the big-time commercial photographer who is shooting pictures to sell for advertising and getting big bucks for it, so he needs a permit. Right?
Not so fast. The Nevada Park system has a set of rules, one of which states:
The division will not charge individual photographers that are taking pictures privately or commercially, if they are alone without props or models. Commercial photography engaged in by one person does not require a permit or any additional fees.
So Bradley is off the hook. He can keep all that hard earned money and shoot freely without restriction. But what about Randy?
Randy has a problem. His girlfriend is “a model.” Worse, she thinks she is a “professional model” and so does the Park system. Neither one of them knows what “professional model” means, but never mind that. Randy is there with Suzy, so he needs a “commercial photography” permit. That his pictures are only destined for social media, not for sale or for advertising, means nothing. That he has no chance of ever being a professional photographer doesn’t matter. That he has never made a dime from selling pictures and never will don’t matter. That what he is doing does not meet the definition in the law for “commercial photography” doesn’t matter. He is there with Suzy, taking pictures of Suzy, and so he needs a permit.
For Randy to take pictures of Suzy, all he has to do is get $300,000 in liability insurance policy, make sure the Park is a “named insured”, file an application with a $50 fee, do a survey of the Park without Suzy in the car, and then make an appointment with a park ranger, get the places he wants to take pictures of her approved, and he is all set to tour the park with Suzy the next day.
Now, he still can’t take pictures of her in places he hasn’t had approved. If they drive by a group of tourists at an especially appealing location that Randy missed during his survey, and all those tourists are taking selfies and pictures of each other, Randy can’t stop the car and take a picture of Suzy no matter how much she whines.
And if he happens to be in the Park after 5:00 PM, which is very likely because Suzy really is not a morning person, he can’t take pictures of her either, because that’s what the rules say if you have a permit. Never mind that all the other tourists can happily snap away until sundown — Randy can’t.
All the above is taken from the statute, the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) and the Rules that the Park system publishes to describe how it administers the law and the Code. It might, at this point, be worthwhile to point out that the regulations in the Code, and the Rules which implement them, are under the authority of the Administrator, whose charter to issue those regulations and rules is also contained in the statute. In this case, the relevant statute says:
Any regulations relating to the conduct of persons within the park or recreational facilities must:
(a) Be directed toward one or both of the following:
(1) Prevention of damage to or misuse of the facility.
(2) Promotion of the inspiration, use and enjoyment of the people of this State through the preservation and use of the facility.
(Source: NRS 407.0475)
It appears that, in the wisdom of the Nevada Park System, all the things Randy has to do, in bold above, are for the purpose of helping him find inspiration and enjoyment in taking his pictures of Suzy. Or perhaps, imposing those requirements on Randy, but not on any of the other thousands of tourists who use the park, take pictures of each other in the park, but don’t happen to have a girlfriend who is “a model” somehow protects all those other tourists.
Author’s note: A copy of this article has been sent to the management of the Nevada Parks division to confirm accuracy, but they have made no response.
About the author: Roger Talley is a former professional fashion photographer who has been retired for over a decade now. The opinions expressed in this article are solely those of the author. Talley has authored a book on modeling: The Professional’s Guide to Modeling. You can find more of his work on his website and portfolio.

Book Tour Review……Words We Cannot Say by Sita Romero Labor and delivery nurse Penelope is an expert at her job but a complete mess when it comes to her personal life. After her boyfriend dumps her in favor of saving his marriage, Penelope discovers she’s pregnant. Now Penelope must face motherhood, her greatest fear, or consider the alternatives. Jesenia, a first-generation American, made her mark as a model then quit the business in favor of a nine-to-five and wedded bliss. After three years of fertility treatments and pressure from her family, trying to become a mother is her full-time job. But when her past mistakes threaten her chances, Nia will have to confront her youthful choices and over-involved family’s opinions. If choosing a homebirth and nursing a toddler don’t make Lotus unconventional, growing up in a commune and choosing a polyamorous marriage certainly do. After her grandfather’s unexpected death and the inheritance of his Victorian home, Lotus just wants to run her business, take care of her family, and live in her version of normal. That peace is threatened by her husband’s former lover, the end of his sobriety, and a new love interest, all of which will turn her world upside down. Words We Cannot Say is a beautiful story about life choices, friendship and motherhood! The writing is beautiful! The topics are ones that we don't usually talk about but most of us face as women. The story follows three friends Penelope, Lotus and Nia as they navigate the ups and downs in life. They aren't perfect, they are messy, honest and real. I really liked how the author brought them together but made sure each of them still never lost their individuality. It was heartbreaking at times but uplifting and an amazing read! Thank you Suzy Approved Book Tours and Sita Romero for sharing this beautiful book with me! #suzyapprovedbooktours #sitaromero #booktours #bookreviews #read #booklover #booksbooksbooks #womensfiction #redadeptpublishing #bookstagram #greatread #reader #wordswecannotsay @suzyapprovedbooktours @sitacromero https://www.instagram.com/p/CcnP9GvNAi0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

It is officially thriller season! What makes a thriller great for you? Do you need a truly evil villain? A cast of unreliable characters? Maybe a plot with more twists than a roller coaster?
.
Thank you to @suzyapprovedbooktours @forgereads and @hankpryan for my gifted copy and having me on the blog tour for The First To Lie by Hank Philippi Ryan! This book was everything I love about reading a great thriller!
.
Synopsis from the publisher: We all have our reasons for being who we are―but what if being someone else could get you what you want? After a devastating betrayal, a young woman sets off on an obsessive path to justice, no matter what dark family secrets are revealed. What she doesn't know―she isn't the only one plotting her revenge. An affluent daughter of privilege. A glamorous manipulative wannabe. A determined reporter, in too deep. A grieving widow who must choose her new reality. Who will be the first to lie? And when the stakes are life and death, do a few lies really matter?
.
I have recently started going into reading thrillers blind or only knowing the bare minimum, and I highly recommend reading this one that way. I loved the cast of interesting female characters, the crazy twists, the plot for revenge, and the ending was amazing! Just go in knowing that what you think you know, you don’t and be ready to be shocked.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Suzy Approved Book Tours Review: Better To Trust by Heather Frimmer
My Thoughts This is my first Frimmer novel and let me tell you what, I was not disappointed in anyway shape or form! I loved turning page after page, and feeling the emotions of the incredible, flawfilled characters. They were incredible and quickly became a part of my soul. Alison, Grant and Sadie are each battling difficult issues in life, from scary health issues to the pressures of fitting in…

Saints of Swallow Hill by Donna Everhart 📖 This was a great historical fiction novel! Taking place in North Carolina during the great depression, we see the lives of several characters as actions both in and out of their control find them all at the same turpentine camp. We see some horrible actions by the people who oversee the workers who are little more than slaves. Workers were not even paid, the received tokens to pay their rent and purchase food, which left many of them continuously in debt to the camp. The descriptions and character building were very well done. There are some not so easy thing to read but the times weren’t easy. If you are a lover of historical fiction, you will truly enjoy this book. I give it 4 of 5 stars and thank Suzy’s Approved Book Tours for the review copy of this book. My thought and opinions are my own. #suzysapprovedbooktour #coffeedogsbooks #bookblog #bookreviews #bookstagram #blogtour #ipreview via @preview.app https://www.instagram.com/p/CYzqqlCr1g1/?utm_medium=tumblr
