In Super Mario Bros., by pressing Left and Right on the D-pad simultaneously, Mario will walk backwards. This is not possible on Nintendo's official controllers, but can be achieved by using third-party controllers on the NES. On the Nintendo Switch Online NES service, due to Switch Joy-Cons having separate Left and Right buttons that would make this trivial, the ability to do this has specifically been disabled.
When this is performed as Fire Mario, it is revealed that when walking backwards to the right, all fireballs shot to the left travel at an extremely high speed, several times faster than normal. Since that causes them to hit targets or leave the screen almost immediately, Mario can rapid-fire them as seen in the footage, which would not be possible normally as only two fireballs can be on-screen at a time.

Nintendo has announced that Charles Martinet, the original voice of Mario, will step back from recording voices for Mario games and move into the new role of “Mario Ambassador”.
Message from Nintendo:
Charles Martinet has been the original voice of Mario in Nintendo games for a long time, as far back as Super Mario 64. Charles is now moving into the brand-new role of Mario Ambassador. With this transition, he will be stepping back from recording character voices for our games, but he’ll continue to travel the world sharing the joy of Mario and interacting with you all!
It has been an honor working with Charles to help bring Mario to life for so many years and we want to thank and celebrate him. Please keep an eye out for a special video message from Shigeru Miyamoto and Charles himself, which we will post at a future date.
Message from Charles Martinet:
My new Adventure begins! You are all Numba One in my heart! #woohoo !!!!!!!
Okay, but can we talk about how (amazingly) protective Mario is over Luigi? ❤️💚
He stands in front of his brother when confronting someone threatening.
Catches the napkin that was targeted at Luigi and throws it back at the person. He even went as far as to say, "Say that again about my brother, and you're gonna regret it." After said person insults Luigi. Despite them being taller and stronger than him, and would probably beat him to a pulp.
Shields Luigi from the potential perpetrator, not backing down or getting behind him.
He stays in front of Luigi, shielding him from an aggressive dog. He even redirects the dog's attention to himself even though the dog would most likely badly injure him.
He stays close to Luigi, but a safe enough distance to kick whoever's sorry ass that decided to pick on him. Despite being relatively small.
seeing people try to apply the 'they should make more straight up evil villains in animated movies' stuff to bowser is funny to me. "i hope he doesn't get redeemed" "i hope he stays evil and dies" meanwhile canon bowser goes golfing with the brothers and peach every 3 months
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Here's something that, when it comes to shipping, Mario and Luigi have similar tastes! (I mean...idk about the last part though).
