1: even if it’s a lie | matt maltese

i’m in fucking love with this song oh my god it’s so beautiful and i’m always a slut for slow songs and the lyrics resonate so deeply with me and it has the most beautiful woody timbre and such a smooth texture ugh i love it so much

2: intro: serendipity | bts

i don’t tend to listen to a lot of bts’ stuff because it’s not really my cuppa tea (lmao i’m drinking tea while writing this and that made me giggle), but this song is so beautifully written and it’s so smooth and jimin’s vocals never cease to give me goosebumps it’s such a wonderful melody

3: requiem | dear evan hansen original soundtrack

alright so i’m a theatre nerd. i love ben platt’s voice and the entire show as a whole but this song is so fucking amazing alright. the lyrics are so beautifully crafted and while i love waving through a window and for forever, this song really stole the show for me. i’m just such a slut for slow songs.

4: 6/10 | dodie

i’ve loved this song since dodie first released it on youtube and when i found out she was releasing it on her new ep i almost cried a little. the lyrics talk about things i can relate to, and that doubled with the iridescent timbre of the song makes me feel all kinds of things. goodness i love dodie and her music.

5: all for you | wallis bird

as it was with even if it’s a lie, i’m always a slut for slow and sad songs that i can relate to. there’s not much else to say about it without repeating myself but it’s such a beautiful song.

6: 100 letters | halsey

a bit of a scene change from the others but not in the sense that i resonate deeply with a lot of the lyrics and this song is crafted so masterfully. i sound like such a nerd oh my god.

7: relax | zhang yixing (lay)

didn’t think we were getting through this list without yixing did you? no way, i love my chinese dad. i will never not love a song that yixing relases (although don’t let me speak too soon because what the fuck even is sheep). if you haven’t read the english lyrics, i suggest you do, because they’re so damn relatable and beautiful and yixing are you okay i want to give him a big big hug and tell him everything will be okay.

8: 6 | kris wu yifan

not actually released but i listen to this so much oh my god. it’s such a genre swap from everything else but i love yifan and everything he releases with my entire being. if you haven’t read the english lyrics then i suggest you do cause i have a very sneaky suspicion that some of it is abt a certain group starting with e and ending in xo.

9: catch me when i fall, skin to skin, & what if i said | lu han

there’s too many songs and not enough numbers for me to express how i feel about music, guys. i’ve had to compile three lulu songs in one number. they’re all relatively slow, as is most of the music i listen to cause i’m a slut for slow songs. but han never fails to impress me (although lu is a questionable jam). they’re all so smooth and beautiful and have the prettiest lyrics and i could fall asleep to han’s voice (in a good way).

10: sweet lies | exo

you’re a fool to think they wouldn’t be in this list. i saved this for the last. i love this fucking song with my entire heart and soul. if you think i haven’t played this song on repeat for hours multiple times then you’re wrong. i could never hate it. and the lyrics? a masterpiece. really gotta give it to chanyeol for that. i’m a proud mum. i’m not kidding when i say i cried listening to this on more than one occasion. with baekhyun’s beautiful fuckin voice with those beautiful fuckin trills at the start of this beautiful fuckin song singing those beautiful fuckin lyrics how could you not love it? i fear that if i don’t cut myself off now, this post will become longer than my last musicology assignment. so i’ll stop here.
