What is the Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic Era on Pregnant Women Sero-Positivity for Syphilis Among Women Attending Antenatal Care in India and Number of Babies Diagnosed with Congenital Syphilis?
Tumblr media
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) still continue to be a major public health problem globally, affecting the quality of life as well as causing serious morbidity and mortality. STIs have a direct and significant impact on reproductive and child health. They can directly cause infertility, cancers as well as pregnancy complications, and indirectly affects individual economies. The information on the number of PW found to be sero positive for Syphilis among women attending antenatal care in India and number of babies diagnosed with Congenital Syphilis is collected from HMIS electronic records of MoHFW, Government of India with key objective to know about the impact of covid-19 era i.e., 2020 and 2021 on prevalence of syphilis by comparing it with the pre pandemic era of 2018 and 2019. I collected sero positivity data for Syphilis among women attending antenatal care in India and number of babies diagnosed with Congenital Syphilis across 36 states and union territories of India including all health facilities viz. public, private, rural, urban health facilities. The data is collected, observed and analyzed with Microsoft office software. Among 254705.2 averages per month number of PW (pregnant women) tested using POC test for Syphilis, 2144.4 averages per month were sero positive for Syphilis giving a sero-prevalence of 0.84 % in 2021(Jan to May). Of 175579.75 averages per month number of PW tested using POC test for Syphilis, 855.58 averages per month were sero positive for Syphilis giving a sero-prevalence of 0.49 % in 2020(Jan to Dec). Of 53313.66 averages per month number of PW tested using POC test for Syphilis, 419.33 averages per month were sero positive for Syphilis giving a sero-prevalence of 0.79 % in 2019 (Jan to Dec). Of 11364.75averages per month number of PW tested using POC test for Syphilis, 339.08 averages per month were sero positive for Syphilis giving a sero-prevalence of 2.98 % in 2018 (Jan to Dec).

Chemo stratigraphic Profile of a Reservoir in Well “X” of Field “Y” Offshore Southern Gabon - Stephy Publishers
Tumblr media
In a bid to evaluate the elemental and mineralogical content of reservoir samples from the “X” well in the “Y” oil field offshore Southern Gabon, analyses were performed using XRD and XRF. The log view profile of the result inferred that Na, Mg, and Calcite were absent in the shallower series of the reservoir sandstones studied, this observation implies that they are soluble ions that had eroded and refer to warm and humid paleoclimate and a depositional environment that is arid, which corresponds to the continental crust as their source. The plot of Ti and FeO+Mg discriminate the deeper series of the reservoir sandstone samples from the shallower samples. The lower series showed heavier values which implies their origin from Oceanic Crust. These are also the pre-salt facies while the shallower series were more of continental origin and represent the post-salt facies.

The Relationship between Sport and Health
Tumblr media
Chronic diseases like hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes type II and osteoporosis became more and more frequent as we can live longer now. These diseases, the so-called diseases of the wealthy and powerful, would make one same as the disabled to live, can’t enjoy a quality life anymore. Currently, we have no way to cure these diseases; however, there is correlation between one’s physical activity and the incidence of such diseases. By investigating studies about physical activity and fitness, it was found that habitual aerobic physical exercising can remarkably improve people’s cardiopulmonary functions, maximal oxygen uptake, capillary density, endurance, and increased sensitivity to insulin of muscle, and the strength training can also effectively improve the muscle strength of old people, people with habitual physical exercise have lower morbidity and mortality in CHD, as well as lower incidence of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes type II, osteoporosis, and many other diseases. Combined with personal experience in habitual physical exercise, the increased dopamine which can improve one’s mood, the modified functions of blood supply and aerobic respiration ability, and even enhanced working memory therefrom can effectively make one happier, healthier and less likely to get chronic diseases like hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes type II and osteoporosis, one can get over-recovery by enough rest and adequate nutrients ingestion after exercising since one’s dopamine was increased.

Resilience, Risk-Taking Behavior and Aggression among Female Volleyball Players – a Preliminary Study
Tumblr media
The aim of the current study is to investigate the level of risk-taking behavior, resilience and aggression in female volleyball players and the link between these psychological variables and coach’s performance ranking. A Romanian volleyball team ranked 7th out of 11 in the A1 league in the national championship (2022-2023 period) participated at the study. The Romanian adaptation of the Brief Resilience Scale, The Romanian adaptation of Makarowski’s Stimulating and Instrumental Risk Questionnaire, The Romanian adaptation of Makarowski's Aggression Questionnaire and Delphi method (evaluation of female volleyball players by coaches) were used. Analysis of the results reveals that athletes have a low level of perseverance (Go-Ahead factor), a low level of Foul play and a moderate to low level of assertiveness. Also, most athletes registered average or even low levels of resilience and have manifested a medium level of instrumental risk and moderate-to low-level of stimulating risk. The existing correlations between the psychological variables examined and the average scores obtained by each athlete (scores offered by the volleyball coaches according to athletes’ sport skills in training and competition) were discussed. The results of the study contribute to increase the awareness regarding aggression level, resilience, instrumental and stimulating risk level in Romanian female volleyball players, a less addressed topic.

The Water-Polymer Method of Hydroperforation of Oil and Gas wells
Tumblr media
The aim of the study is to develop an efficient, innovative method of perforating oil and gas well casing strings with a high-velocity stream of polymer solution that conserves resources and energy and meets the requirements for environ- mentally friendly hydrocarbon production. New knowledge about the dynamics of polymer solutions in the model conditions of flow through the nozzles of the hydro perforator, which form a high-velocity jet, became the main scientific basis for substantiating the water-polymer method of hydro perforation of oil and gas wells. The study of the reaction of polymer solutions to tension hydrodynamic influence allowed to formulate a structural concept, the "common denominator" of which is the strong deformation effect of tension hydrodynamic field on high molecular weight coils, which, according to nonequilibrium thermodynamics, should cause a kind of high elasticity. Peculiarities of hydrodynamic behavior of aqueous polymer solutions in model conditions of flow through jet-forming nozzles are studied. The possibility of transition to a highly developed state of the tangle of polyethylene oxide macromolecules in the conditions of the inlet section of the nozzle of the hydro perforator has been experimentally proved. The mechanism of perforation of oil and gas wells by a high-velocity jet of an aqueous polymer solution has been elucidated. It is proved that the mechanism of the high cutting ability of the high-velocity jet of aqueous polymer solution is the destructive effect of the dynamic pressure of water-polymer jet "reinforced" by highly developed macromolecular chains in the inlet nozzles of the hydro perforator nozzles under the action of tensile leakage. Experimental and industrial testing of the method of perforation of wells by a high-speed jet of an aqueous solution of polyethylene oxide confirmed the practical and economic feasibility of its use.

Skin Cancer: Attitudes and Behaviors Among Adolescents for Sun Protection
Tumblr media
Introduction: Sun exposure during childhood and adolescence is an important risk factor for all skin cancers. Sunlight stimulates a multitude of important biological effects on skin, causing, amongst other pathological and carcinogenesis changes. Objective: This study was performed to evaluate the knowledge and behaviors among adolescence about the effect of sun`s exposure as a cause of skin cancer. Material and Methods: In this study, subjects between 14 to 19 years of age were recruited from the high schools in Tirana Albania. The participants were administered a questionnaire consisting of items related to knowledge, attitudes and behaviors related to protection protective behavior against skin cancers and sun protection. Descriptive data related to demographics and responses to the questions are presented. Results: A total of 104 participants (mean age 17.63±1.08 years) were included. The study included 90(86.5%) male and14(13.5%) female participants. Only 23.1% of adolescents recognized the harmful effects of ultraviolet in skin cancers and melanoma. More than 70% of adolescents had no knowledge about the risks factor for skin cancers and melanoma. More than quarter of them did not apply protective measures during sun bathing. Protective intervention behaviors were more presented to female adolescence compared to male. Conclusion: Knowledge levels and protective behaviors of adolescence against the harmful effects of the sun and for protection against skin cancers were alarmingly low in the study population. It is necessary to provide educational intervention at adolescence education level. Dermatologic societies and media should intensify the sun protection campaign.
Children and adolescents may be vulnerable to increased ultraviolet radiation exposure and greater risk for subsequent sun-related pathologies. Evidence of harm associated with overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays is known. Skin cancer is the most common pathology caused by UV radiation, in particular with the frequency of severe sunburns. Exposure to UV rays is therefore a preventable cause of skin cancer. According to the Center for Disease Control, the incidence rates for skin cancers are increasing, particularly among adults over the age of 65 years and melanoma is the third most common form of skin cancer.

Case Review: Diversified Wound Management with A Dual-Purpose Wound Occluding Honey Based Ointment
Tumblr media
The correct and effective management of wounds remains challenging within the wound care discipline even though much effort and attention has been directed toward novel technologies and advanced approaches. As wound healing takes place in four stages, the selection of the appropriate treatment, depending on the respective stage on the patients’ wound, is crucial. In addition, identifying the type of wound might be difficult in some cases, which in combination with the aforementioned further complicates appropriate wound management. This article discusses a single product wound management, by means of case studies, in an attempt to describe a simplified and possibly cost-effective way to manage wounds effectively.
The efficient and proper management of wounds remains a clinical problem, frequently causing morbidity and mortality due initial and delayed complications. Consequently, a substantial amount of research has been conducted to identify and continuously develop novel therapeutic approaches and technologies for the management of acute and chronic wounds.1 The development of new approaches however requires understanding the physiological trajectory of normal wound healing,2 described as the phases of hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. The wound healing process is a complicated and intricate process. The stages of wound healing do not occur in isolation as considerable overlapping transpires between the stages. Wound healing, sometimes called the healing cascade, is generally described in four distinct phases.

Application of Mohs Technique for Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Nipple
Tumblr media
Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the nipple areolar complex (NAC) is a rare entity with only a few cases reported in the medical literature. The standard treatment for invasive squamous cell carcinoma includes complete surgical excision of the lesion with postoperative assessment of free margins. Although this skin cancer involves the NAC it should be considered as a completely separate entity from other breast cancers, and therefore may be treated differently than breast cancers involving the NAC. Mohs micrographic surgery is a well-accepted technique for non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSC) with its remarkable precision for tumor eradication and tissue-sparing properties which favor excellent aesthetic outcome. We present a clinical case of 75-year-old Caucasian female who presented to our clinic with a papulose, scaly lesion located at her right nipple that was confirmed to be SCC of the nipple. The patient underwent complete excision of the tumor using Mohs micrographic technique with immediate reconstruction of spared NAC using purse-string suture technique. Free surgical margins were determined intra-operatively by Mohs’s cryosurgery method and further assessed by permanent evaluation. Follow-up was assessed for 3 years without evidence of local recurrence, and high patient satisfaction with the final aesthetic outcome. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report that validates the feasibility of application of the Mohs technique for nipple SCC excision with immediate nipple reconstruction. Our results suggest that Mohs micrographic surgical technique may be a safe treatment modality for SCC lesions of the NAC allowing superior tissue preservation and enhanced aesthetic results compared to standard wide local excision.

Double-Advance Technique for the Closure of Inferior Cleft Lip
Tumblr media
The Objective is present a case of a medial cleft of the lower lip with associated ankyloglossia and a proposal for a double-advance local flap technique for its closure who attended the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service of the Madre Rafols Hospital, Venezuela. A 4-month-old female patient, presenting a medial cleft of the lower lip with an associated aberrant frenulum of the tongue causing ankyloglossia (Tessier 30). Lingual frenectomy and primary cheiloplasty were performed with a double-advance local flap technique to close the lower labial cleft. A wedge-shaped incision along the labial cleft, with lateral extensions towards the mentolabial sulcus extending bilaterally were performed in order to advance both flaps and place the wound at the limit of the esthetic subunit, as well as a Z-plasty in the vermilion of the lower lip. Postoperative follow-ups did not reveal local complications or tissue dehiscence. Due to the rarity of this entity, relevant surgical techniques for this type of anomaly have not been established or evaluated. The technique presented here proved its usefulness, achieving harmonious and favorable functional and aesthetic results in our patient.  Clefts of the lower lip are a rare condition. Abnormal or incomplete development of structures derived from the lower half of the first branchial arch is extremely rare.1 Until now, only 75 to 80 documented cases have been reported in recent years.2 This condition varies in severity. On the mildest form, it can present as a notch in the submucosa of the lower lip and in the most severe form it can involve the lower lip as a whole, as well as ankyloglossia or bifid tongue, cleft of the alveolar process, mandible, floor of the mouth and even some structures of the neck

The Use of Contralateral Autologous Breast Grafting Tissue In Breast Reconstruction: A New Approach
Tumblr media
Breast reconstruction surgery is an exceptionally important tool for repair of defects and asymmetries caused by the various types of surgical breast cancer treatment. Reconstruction is indicated regardless of lesion location in the breast when a quadrantectomy or sector resection has been performed. Although several surgical techniques are available for reconstruction, we propose a method based on contralateral breast graft replacement to preserve shape and symmetry. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was performed with a sample of 42 women who had undergone quadrantectomy or wide resection, followed by radiation therapy, for treatment of breast cancer. The outcomes of interest were breast aesthetics and symmetry in the immediate postoperative period and after 3 months of radiation therapy. All patients were photographed preoperatively, pre-radiation therapy, and 3 months post radiation therapy. Before-and-after photographs were sent to four independent experts in the field, who, in a blinded manner, used a continuous visual analogue scale (VAS) of 0 to 10 to assess breast symmetry and aesthetic appearance. Results: The mean (SD) VAS score was 8.74 (0.75) for symmetry and 8.76 (0.80) for aesthetics (p>0.50 for both). Comparison of VAS scores assigned to preoperative and postoperative images revealed that autologous breast tissue grafting was useful.
Early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer is associated with higher rates of cure, consequently reducing the negative impact on body image and stigma brought by the disease.1 It is noteworthy that an extensive body of clinical research has demonstrated that the outcomes of radical, mutilating treatments for breast cancer are similar to those provided by breast-conserving therapy, with equivalent prognosis and survival according to the stage at diagnosis and histological tumor type.2,3 The radical mastectomy procedure developed by Halsted was long the standard for surgical treatment of breast cancer

Intraosseous Skull Cavernous Hemangiomas: Case Report
Tumblr media
• Primary intraosseous cavernous hemangiomas (PICHs) is a rare hemangioma in the skull. The diagnosis and treatment need to be coordinated by related specialties, in which the gold standard for diagnosis is histopathology. • The clinical case is a 72-year-old male patient with a parietal frontal hemangioma originating in the skull, which is an intracranial cavernous hemangioma. • Treatment was consisted of vascular intervention, total cranioplasty, covering with an artificial material and a skin flap. • The patient underwent 3 surgeries to remove the tumor, the second time the pathological result was a cavernous hemangioma of the skull.  Hemangiomas are benign soft tissue tumors, usually in the skin of newborns and children. Hemangiomas may appear in other tissue including muscle, tendon, connective tissue, fatty tissue, synovial fluid, or bone1 . Hemangiomas are histologically classified on the basis of vascular channels including capillary hemangiomas, cavernous hemangiomas, venous or arteriovenous hemangiomas.2-6 In particular, primary intraosseous cavernous hemangiomas can occur anywhere in the body. PICHs is an extremely rare disease, accounting for only 0.7-1% of bone tumors, and 10% of benign skull tumors. PICHS are common in middle age (40-50 years old), male/ female ratio is about 3/1 to 2/1.67. PICHS has an unclear pathogenesis, which may be related to a history of trauma.2,5,6,7 It was first described in 1845 as a case of cavernous hemangioma originating from the parietal bone, by 2016 only 93 cases had been reported. PICHs originates from the space between the two plates of the skull and is supplied with blood by the external carotid artery.1,2 Common clinical symptoms include enlarged skull, with or without pain, headache, dizziness. Localized neurologic findings are uncommon because the tumor tends to grow outward.

Phsycosocial Evaluation of The Risks of Telework on Covid-19 Times
Tumblr media
The objective of this research is to identify the main factors of psychological risk presented by officials who have worked under the modality of teleworking, during the first semester of the Covid-19 pandemic. The methodology developed for this research was created out from a positivist paradigm, a quantitative approach, an exploratory character and with a non-experimental method. The tool applied CoPsoQ -istas21 provides the levels of psychosocial risk in people who work under the teleworking modality, however, it does not determine the origin of the risks, since the scope of the investigation has a sole purpose of diagnosis. According to the results obtained, it can be considered that the main psychosocial risk factors as a consequence of teleworking are the dimensions of the pace of work, quantitative requirements, emotional, double presence, employment insecurities and working conditions. The job positions exposure prevails greater risk in technical positions, while executives present a moderate risk of exposure. Finally, the exposure by sex is greater in women, mainly in the demands of predictability, insecurity about employment and insecurity about working conditions. In conclusion, there is evidence of psychosocial risks factors for health, mainly in the group of psychological demands of work, in addition, the dimensions of greater risk could be influenced by the Covid-19, which has cause insecurity as a result of unemployment worldwide.
Recent developments in technologies are influencing in the companies to implement teleworking, as a way of carrying out their tasks. “More and more people are working remotely as a result of the increasing globalization and advances in information of communication technology”.1 It is so how employees can work remotely worldwide using the technology. The research is a contribution to the occupational psychology, taking the reader on a brief tour on the subject of teleworking and psychosocial factors, carrying out the field study in one of the most important financial institutions in the country. This research takes into consideration other elements, when dealing with life care, elements that are aligned to the transverse axes of the University of La Salle, such as fighting poverty, ecology and care of life, since the research analyzes the psychosocial risk factors, because teleworking within its main objectives is the quality of life of the collaborators, in this case study subjects of the research.
