Stephen Grief talking about Paul “Paulie” Darrow at Forever Avon Convention, 2022.
Starting at 2:30 he tells the story of Paul thinking his beloved “blue mini” car was stolen. The story ended happily when the car was found on a different street. It must’ve been the little blue car Paul Darrow was driving in “Port of Secrets”. Here is the thread on Horizon forum discussing this car.

Happy Holidays all and especially a Happy Boxing Day to those in Canada and the UK. And quite a sock to the jaw it was to see a Doctor Who 60th anniversary trailer on Xmas Day! Still nothing new with Ncuti Gatwa’s incarnation of the Doctor but we do have more of Tennant’s Who the 14th, Donna Noble, and most importantly, Beep The Meep!…

Febuwhump day 14: blood-stained tiles
Title: Red
Words: 59
Summary: Wong reflects on his husband's death.
I really hope the formatting works out--
btw, this is an anaphora (pronounce ah-naf-or-a). From the Acadamy of American Poets: "The term anaphora refers to a poetic technique in which successive phrases or lines begin with the same words, often resembling a litany. The repetition can be as simple as a single word or as long as an entire phrase." Happy Valentine's day.
~~~
Red. The tiles were stained
Red like the
Red roses Stephen had given him their first date, he had worn
Red like the traditional robes Wong wore for their wedding,
Red like the flowers and
Red like his heart and
Red like the sunset and
Red like his anger, his grief, and
Red like his
blood
on the
floor
Bullet called the night she died. Angrily he had ignored it, scoffing as he puts his phone back in his pocket after he silenced it, memories of the day before where he had grabbed her by what felt like the scruff of her neck and thrown her outside of the station fresh in his mind, feeling anger coursing through his veins, causing a feeling similar to one that Meth had always given him.
‘I should’ve responded. I should’ve answered,’ he cried over and over, and Linden scurries to tell him it’s not his fault. He drunkenly sucks in breaths and tastes nothing but the burn of cigarette smoke in his mouth instead, the air polluted. His mind is destroying itself.
God fell asleep in the back seat. He does have a body on his grill.
He stands in the bathroom with the Sewerd kid, combing down his hair as he stands behind him, patiently using his hands gently to make sure he looks good enough for his father to see. He never gets there.
Caroline never knew about his addiction. Serenity is all he ever wanted. He wanted to be good, he tells her. ‘I wanted to be good.’
He chucks beer cans into the field full of un-marked graves next to the prison, his mind slowing down as he watches the liquid explode out of the thin metal, his arms tired from the smashing.
He talks to Kalies mom at the funeral, feeling like he had murdered Bullet with his own two hands. He feels thick matalic blood dripping off them as he sits in the pews. She died thinking he was mad at her. He could never be mad. Not at her. Not at Bullet. He visits her grave and traces her name that’s carved don’t the pretty white marble, placing her necklace ontop, knowing they she’d want that in the afterlife.
(‘What bullshit,’ he scoffs, trying to think of heaven for a girl who was always cast out. What bullshit.)
He walks away, leaving the grief of his past behind, but it follows him.
Greif is weird. It's sadness, but it's also fear. Stephen King said "nothing is so frightening as what's behind a closed door". Death, loss, uncertainty, the things you mourn, are all doors slammed in your face with no idea what's waiting behind them or when it will come to get you too. It's surprisingly selfish that way. You don't get to know or understand, not yet, and maybe you never will. You can only imagine, and that's the worst part.
The Drama League has announced its 2024 Special Recognition Honorees, who will be recognized at The 90th Annual Drama League Awards for their outstanding contributions to the theatre industry.
Two-time Tony nominee Jonathan Groff, currently on Broadway in the acclaimed revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along, will receive the Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theater Award. Director Schele Williams will be honored with the Founders Award for Excellence in Directing; she is represented this season with the Broadway-bound revival of The Wiz and the new musical The Notebook (Williams co-directs the latter with Michael Greif).
As previously reported, the 2024 Drama League Awards, celebrating work on Broadway and off, will be held May 17 in Manhattan at the Ziegfeld Ballroom hosted by Emmy winner Frank DiLella. To be eligible for nomination, productions must open by April 20. Nominations for this year's awards will be revealed April 22 at 10 AM ET at the New York Library for the Performing Arts.
The Drama League Awards are among the oldest theatrical honors in America, having been first presented in 1922 and subsequently formalized in 1935. It recognizes work playing Broadway and Off-Broadway. The awards are determined by Drama League members, a group that includes award-winning actors, designers, directors, playwrights, producers, industry veterans, critics, and dedicated audiences from across the nation.
The ceremony culminates in the presentation of the Distinguished Performance Award, which goes to one artist a year and can only be won once in an artist’s lifetime. Recent winners have included Annaleigh Ashford for Sweeney Todd, Glenda Jackson for Three Tall Women, Ben Platt for Dear Evan Hansen, and Lin-Manuel Miranda for Hamilton.
Jonathans award is for his outstanding work on stage as part of the musical theater community.
