FINALLY gonna wrap up Reversed Robin Origins with Babs n Dick in ONE GO, lets DO THIS:
So here’s the thing you gotta realize about Babs. She’s Gotham born and raised. She’s LIVED this shit all her life. Jim is a Helluva lot younger in this and got his start as a Rookie RIGHT when Batman was starting out, and Babs herself grew up in a Sidekick-filled Gotham. She hears all sorts of stories from her dad abt what Batman was like before he had kid sidekicks, sure, but she only rlly knows for sure abt how these cryptids are NOW. And More Importantly, she’s FASCINATED by the bat-shadow that’s been following Batman himself for as long as she can remember.
Basically, she got ONE good look at batgirl ONE time and she’s been Cass’ number one fan ever since.
So what does she do when she’s 9 years old, a gymnastics prodigy and Olympic Hopeful, and absolutely FERAL abt Batgirl.
She makes her own batgirl costume ofc :) and does her damnedest to try to Join the Caped Crusaders! (To absolutely mixed results OFC)
I still love the idea of Babs going to a costume ball in her homemade batgirl costume & trying to surprise her dad with it, only for the party to be interrupted by killer moth and she just Barely holds her own long enough for the other bats to change into costume+take over. So we're keeping that in for the most part and throwing in a lecture from all the Bats after abt Never Doing Anything Like That Ever Again lmaooo
But this is Babs we’re talking abt here, and she’ll do things outta PURE SPITE. So she’s absolutely going out way past bedtime and hopping from fire escape to fire escape and stopping Petty crimes that she thinks the others are missing (they’re totally not, but try telling HER THAT)
And for Added Angst, Bruce absolutely considers her his punishment for not keeping Steph outta this whole business.
Now for Dick:
I forgot to say, it'll be at least 3 long years before Babs tries Stepping Onto the Scene for the first time. 3 long, crazy, adventure and drama-filled years since Jason and Cass took their globe-trotting trip to find their moms, and returned from their adventure, maybe not exactly victorious, but certainly satisfied with the answers they've found. And in those years between, again, many things occur, but we wont get into that right this second.
Because pretty soon after Babs starts making her own attempts to shoehorn herself into the Bat-Business, tragedy strikes one more time when the Flying Graysons are forever Grounded, and Dick, all of 12years old, has been left to pick up the pieces.
And you might be thinking, "Yeah yeah Randy, we all know the story, so whats the difference? he's got a better support system now bc he has so many siblings this time around right?"
But Here's the thing I see so many ppl forgetting, here's the thing that ruins the Reverse Robins for me when I see ppl sticking WAY too close to their fanon ages instead of considering... that keeping with the canon age gap between Dick and Jason alone (where Jay was 12 when Dick was 18 & moving onto his NW identity), and now flipping it (so everyone is now in their various Late-Teens/Early 20s) means not only is Dick the DEFINITIVE baby of the siblings,
He just might end up being mostly alone in the Manor with Bruce, since all of the other Birds have flown the Nest.
So yeah for the first time in this universe, it will be Batman and Robin who stalk the night.
And while Robin might be the newest protector of Gotham... while he might be the one who sticks closest to Bruce's side. For once, he's not completely alone at Batman's side. Bc any of the older Bats are Ready at a moments notice to help their new baby brother out of a jam.

Hey Steph! I've been searching for a certain fic lately. Sherlock and John were investigating a strip club or something like that for some reason and as soon as they arrived there, Sherlock began talking to a woman (I think her name was Hannah? I'm not sure) like they knew each other well and John was really shocked/surprised. And then it turned out that Sherlock had once worked at the club himself ... It was also definitely Johnlock but I can't remember if they already were together or got together in the fic. I've read this AGES ago and I'm not even sure if it was on Ao3 or not, but I thought maybe someone could be able to help me out. Thanks for everything you do, you and your blog are amazing!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books Titles that Are Complete Sentences
Top Ten Tuesday: Books Titles that Are Complete Sentences
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works: She assigns each Tuesday a topic and then posts her top ten list that fits that topic. You’re more than welcome to join her and create your own top ten…

I kinda have this hc that when damian first started text the fam, it was full complete sentences then he'd call if the person didn't answer fast enough. Then he learned memes but only got the idea that images=meaning so he'd just started sending cat pics instead and everyone else had to figure it out. Now he understands memes but still sends cat pics as complicated hieroglyphics that only a few get and have to do the old yeller thing of "Timmy fell in the well" questioning.
This is something he and Cass have in common
Damian: only texts with images/memes
Cass: only texts with emojis

3 stars
Ever wants to dance but her parents want her to be a doctor. Her parents also signed her up for a special summer camp in Taiwan. At camp, Ever decides to find herself and break all the rules her parents had. Boys, drinking, and more. But what will she choose when summer ends?
Loveboat, Taipei is a book that I wanted to love but there's too much that pulls me back from it. It's really hard to rate because there are parts I genuinely liked and thought were cute or good. But I also cringed or felt like some things were not so good.
There were several really good topics in this book. Finding yourself and discovering your roots, culture, and where you come from is. Doing things that make you happy and passionate. It talks about racism and the pressure of being a first generation American and feeling like you don't belong. Of parents' expectations and the firsts of life (first love, first kiss, first time, etc). There's touches of mental health and domestic and emotional abuse.
Some of those things were gone over in depth really well. But somethings felt a little flat like the mental health, the domestic and emotional abuse, etc. The writing was a bit cringe too sometimes. Words like "Gah! He's gorgeous" or "Agh!" just made me go: what did I just read. To be honest, the book focuses so much on Ever finding herself and boys, that I think it kind of let's the book down. Because... most of the characters aren't too likable or at least they all seem to do things made me balk. There's also a very messy love square thing going on.
Ever seems to have a bit of a loose moral compass. She seems and acknowledges that she apparently seems to like guys that are with other people. Dan might be an exceptional because she liked him before but he gets with her friend and she's still into him and jealous. She also immediately thinks: "oh I could use Xavier" as the guy to break her first with RIGHT AFTER her best friend Sophie breaks up with him and it's incredibly clear that she still likes him. Sophie isn't a peach but we'll get to that later. She basically uses Xavier for her first time and while I support women claiming their sexuality, it doesn't sit right that she basically does it knowing full well that he has feelings for her and it probably means something to him. And she's just like peace out, we'll only be friends afterwards. She's also always falling down for someone who is supposed to be graceful.
Sophie was a character that I struggled with. The book very clearly wants you to like her a lot, then feel sad for her, mad at her, sad for her again and then forgive her. Sophie knew Ever was checking Xavier out a little in the beginning and literally jumped on that. Not only that but Sophie not only stole something that was basically for Ever, but lied about or essentially purposely mislead about her relationship with Xavier. I do feel sorry for Sophie having family pressuring her to be a good girl, to find a rich boy and get married because she's poor and doesn't want to grow up that way. But that doesn't excuse her behavior. Sophie feeling angry and betrayed at Ever kissing Xavier like right after they broke up is understandable, but what wasn't okay was her distributing all Ever's nudes to everyone and slutshaming her. And then Sophie's alone and then a boy hits her, and Ever forgives her for everything (like kissing a BOY is the same thing 🙄). I just really had a hard time with all that.
Xavier is obsessed with Ever and gives her secret drawings, gifts, etc even though he technically is with Sophie at the time. Rick is all over the place emotionally, and later we understand why with his struggles with his girlfriend. The whole mental health plot is a good one but it does feel a little brushed over too quickly.
When it's good, it's good. I enjoyed Ever's love of dance and choreography. I liked her struggles with not feeling like she belongs and with her identity and future. How she struggled against her parents and with them. The budding romance between Rick and Ever is cute! "With you 1 + 1 equals exponential," is so fucking cute!!!!! I really enjoyed her growth of concerning her and her future, and to speak up.
I just didn't like big chunks in-between or certain characters. The whole almost car accident and her dancing literally with a previous dislocated shoulder that was just put back and an injured ankle was probably the most craziest thing so I guess that says something.
It was still enjoyable but yeah. This book kind of went all over the place with me.

Warriors Clinch Play-In Game Against Lakers
SAN FRANCISCO—The Golden State Warriors remain red hot, winning their sixth straight game on Sunday, May 16, against the Memphis Grizzlies. Going into the season finale, both teams were locked up with record of 38-33, tied for the eighth seed. The Warriors win clinched the eighth seed, making the Grizzlies the ninth seed, and setting up a showdown versus LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA’s play-in game.
The Warriors currently have the longest winning streak in the league, headed by their point guard Steph Curry, who also secured the leagues scoring championship on Sunday. Curry is averaging a league best 32.0 points per game, winning the league scoring title for the second time in his career, a feat only three other current NBA Players have accomplished (Kevin Durant, 4x; James Harden, 3x; and Russell Westbrook, 2x).
As per the new play-in tournament, the Warriors (8 seed) will play the Lakers (7 seed). The winner of this game will be the 7 seed in the Western Conference of the NBA Playoffs. The Grizzlies (9 seed) will play the San Antonio Spurs (10 seed). The loser of this game will be eliminated. The winner of this game will play the loser of the Warriors and Lakers game. The winner of that game will be the 8 seed. Thus, the Warriors need to lose twice to not make the playoffs. If they beat the Lakers, they will be the 7 seed and play the Phoenix Suns in the first round. If they lose to the Lakers, but beat the winner of the Grizzlies and Spurs game, they will be the 8 seed and play the Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs. If they lose to both the Lakers and the winner of the 9 vs 10 matchup, they’re packing their bags and heading home for the offseason.
The Lakers are the reigning and defending NBA champions, but their two superstars, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, have both been curtailed by injuries all year, both missing at least 30 games in this shortened 72 game year. The rest of the troops have held down the fort and secured them a play-in spot, where both stars are expected to be healthy and play.
This will be the Warriors first postseason play since their 2018-2019 finals loss to the Toronto Raptors, which prefaced them losing Kevin Durant to the Brooklyn Nets and their sharpshooter Klay Thompson for two full seasons due to injuries. The Warriors will head into the playoffs shorthanded, with their rookie center and solid contributor James Wiseman (11.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg) out for the year, due to a meniscus tear he suffered back in April.
“No matter how the season goes, I’m really proud of the way that we’ve given ourselves a chance to make this season matter, given ourselves to play games that matter,” Curry said in a press conference after the Warriors win on Sunday.
Warriors Clinch Play-In Game Against Lakers was originally published on San Francisco News
