Dallas Stars Schedule: All the Information You Need
You've found the perfect site if you're looking for the Dallas Stars schedule. The schedule is packed with essential games that will keep you current. The team's plan is broken down in the list below. Visit this list for further information. In addition, you may look up the team's past performances if you're interested in the season's schedule. Their home and away schedules are included, along with any playoffs.
Preseason exhibition games occur throughout September before the Dallas Stars regular season schedule kicks off in late September. The regular season goes from October to the beginning of April. The Dallas Stars frequently take on Central Division opponents. In addition, they often participate in NHL Conference Finals and Stanley Cup Finals, making them favorites. The schedule for the Dallas Stars in 2022–2023 is as follows.
The Dallas Stars home games are fortunately simulcast. Their games have continued to appear on radio and television because they have a sizable media market and a devoted fan base. Ralph and Razor, two of the Dallas Stars commentators, have also had long success. Even with AM radio's restrictions, the Dallas Stars schedules have always been well-liked. They will probably get much attention because they have a sizable fan following and excellent games.
Dallas will need to perform well against each opponent on their schedule as the season progresses. Dallas defeated the St. Louis Blues the previous season, but they will need to play very well to avoid falling to St. Louis in the playoffs. After all, the Blues upset Dallas in the playoffs the year before. Therefore, Dallas needs to be prepared to play any club on its schedule in light of this. However, before doing that, look through the complete timetable so you can decide.
The Dallas Stars jerseys were recently updated with the team's new logo. The new logo has a green shoulder yoke and a star with the word D in the middle. In addition, the chest is embellished with a new crest and a gold-trimmed "Dallas" emblem. The Stars also don a brand-new reversible jersey for home games and a black t-shirt with a green-striped insignia for road contests.
The Dallas Stars regular season schedule and postseason schedule are relatively similar. They compete against the New Jersey Devils and the Colorado Avalanche. Despite not having the home-ice advantage for the first time since 1995, the Stars prevailed in seven games to win the Western Conference finals. The Toronto Maple Leafs later eliminated them from the playoffs as they dropped all three of their games at Reunion Arena. Since the postseason, the Stars have been forced to compete without home-ice advantage.
The Dallas Stars made several intriguing acquisitions throughout the summer. They signed a handful of free agents and acquired Jaroslav Modry and Patrik Stefan from the Atlanta Thrashers. Additionally, they received free agents Andrew Raycroft and Jonathan Cheechoo. A few new names are on the list as well. So when Rick Bowness, a former head coach of the Stars, took over the Winnipeg Jets last week, the players had a lot to shout about.
The Dallas Stars also own two minor league clubs. An affiliate of the American Hockey League, the Texas Stars play in Cedar Park, a suburb of Austin. In Boise, the Idaho Steelheads play. Since 2003, they have called the Idaho Central Arena in Boise their home arena. Check the schedules for the two teams to pick one that works for you because the Dallas Stars have a lot of games each season.
Dallas Stars tickets are $20 or less for most games. Center ice in the lowest level has the priciest seats. The upper tiers behind the goals are where you'll find the cheapest seats. However, you may get a lower-level seat if you wish to save money. You may also use your flex passes or discount coupons to purchase tickets for away games. The most excellent seats, meanwhile, are found close to the middle of the ice because this is where the club plays most of its games; it's crucial to remember.

Tour Saint-Jacques projet (2021, The light beam indicates the direction of Santiago de Compostela.) & Suivez mon panache rose (2012) by Jacqueline Dauriac
Among the Portuguese knights who took part with initiative in these events [the struggle with Arabian power in Granada, Spain] was Francisco Almeida. With the leave of the Portuguese king and as a knight of St James he was among the foremost in the siege and fall of Granada. It was he who afterwards became, on behalf of Emmanuel I of Portugal, the first Viceroy of India. Documentary history tells us comparatively little of Almeida, who was closely connected not only with Emmanuel of Portugal but with Ferdinand and Isabella also. Almeida had been an eye-witness of the unhappy bargaining with the hand of Juana, for as ambassador of Alphonso V he had prepared the latter’s journey to Louis XI of France. The awful nature of Jauna’s treatment had entered deeply into Almeida’s soul, and had awakened in him the sure knowledge that a new age was coming, wherein the destinies of nations would be guided in quite other ways than by marrying and giving in marriage. He wanted to see Portugal and Spain united not by marriages but by brave and conscious deed, of significance for all mankind. It was indeed an event of the greatest importance when the Christian army assailed the rose-covered walls of Granada, and planted thereon the ensign of the Order, whose coat of arms contained the sword, it is true, but with a heart in place of the handle, for in the traditions of the Order it was known that in future ages love must take the place of the sword—only the time for this was not yet fully come.
In the hands of the Moors who held Granada there was at that time a sacred treasure, with the possession of which a kind of hidden knowledge was associated. It was a sacred relic connected with a form of alchemy. Destiny brought it about that this object and the knowledge associated with it fell into the hands of Francesco Almeida. Almeida felt that he had the right to dispose of it after his own insight, but the Order of St James did not agree with him, and desired to keep for itself the right of disposal, both of the relic itself, and of the hidden knowledge which went with it. Almeida however insisted on his right and eventually passed on the relic and the knowledge to a certain man from Alsace, whose name was Stefan Rautter. This individual is known to history under the pseudonym Basil Valentine. His writings, preserved by his pupils and circulated in manuscript form, were at a later time collected and published by Tholde, secretary of the Rosicrucian Order. … Basil Valentine here mentions, among other things, that he undertook in peril of his life a journey to Santiago de Compostela, and he remarks that those who may now benefit from the knowledge which he brought from there should thank God that he was enabled to complete the arduous journey.
Basil Valentine’s work contains the great secret of alchemy, which consists in the study of certain transmutations of carbon, referred to mysteriously as the prima materia. The secret is not revealed; it is only hinted at in a half-jocular form, where it is said that the disciple of alchemy must not take it amiss if he be called upon to dirty his hands with coal.
Basil Valentine also mentions that he came to England. Thomas Malory, who here became his pupil, repeats the same jest in the story of the knight, Beaumains. Indeed, the entire seventh book of Malory’s Morte d’Arthur proves him a pupil of Basil Valentine; only what Basil refers to as the stone which goes through many colors is for Malory the knight of many-colored armor.
It was Almeida, therefore, who withheld the knowledge from the Order of St James and was responsible for giving it to Basil Valentine. The hidden knowledge, and the preparation in question, was preserved thenceforth in the Rosicrucian schools of alchemy. This knowledge is indeed very ancient, and in the last resort goes back to the time of Alexander the Great, who learned the secret of substance and of its medical use from his tutor, Aristotle. The ‘coal,’ the transmutation of which is the subject of alchemy, is indeed none other than the carbon contained in every living substance. In the living body of man this carbon does indeed take on all colors, inasmuch as all the organs are made up of its compounds. Carbon builds up the human body, which is not only alive, but permeated in its living substance by soul and spirit. What Basil Valentine calls the Philosopher’s Stone is none other than the human being looked at from the threefold aspect of body, soul, and spirit. Therefore the Philosopher’s Stone is represented as consisting of three substances, though one in essence. In the mystery schools of antiquity it was always known that the human being must experience a transmutation in body, soul and spirit if ordinary consciousness is to be changed into a higher, clairvoyant consciousness. To describe this transmutation in the language of carbon chemistry was the essential content of Basil Valentine’s alchemy. Thus Almeida brought the royal art from Granada to Compostela and from there, by the hand of Basil Valentine, to Alsace and to Thomas Malory in England.

Gardens of Stone
Tumblr media
Let’s face it, as far as cool, gothic cemeteries go, Central Florida certainly wasn’t first in line.  Sure, there’s perennial favorite Greenwood in Orlando, & Tolomato in St. Augustine (which has bragging rights to oldest marked grave in the state), but during these trying pandemical times, Greenwood is closed on weekends & Tolomato is always closed.  Thus, it is the time to shine for Oaklawn Cemetery in Tampa.
Tumblr media
Oaklawn, a fine example of southern gothic, was founded in 1850 & is located right in downtown Tampa at 606 E. Harrison St.   Once it was two cemeteries separated by a fence, the other being Saint Louis Catholic Cemetery, but the fence is gone now & one can freely pass between.  Oaklawn is amazing.  As Stefan from Saturday Night Live might say, “This place has everything:  grey stone walls, wrought iron fences with creaky gates, twisted & deformed trees deliciously draped with Spanish moss, neglect & decay, ghosts, & the bouncer is a bulldog who looks like Wilford Brimley & the password is ‘diabeetus.’”  Well, maybe not that last part - took the Stefan analogy too far.
Tumblr media
But seriously, Oaklawn is a must-visit for the darkly inclined on any excursion to the Tampa Bay area.  Just a mile and a quarter from Ybor City, and right off I-275, Oaklawn is easy peasy to find and right in the heart of things.  Parking is the only issue.  On a weekday...well, just avoid it on a weekday.  On the weekends, however, there’s parking as far as the eye can see (you still have to pay for it, of course - Tampa politicians like to buy nice things for themselves, you know).
Tumblr media
Once inside, your icy, black heart will soar on demonic wings.  First off - blessed shade!  Shady spots under Florida’s pitiless sun are worth their weight in cursed pirate treasure, and Oaklawn has an embarrassment of riches.  Cast aside, if only temporally, that SPF 100 sunscreen my obsidian clad brethren & cease your squinting and cowering; Oaklawn has you covered - literally.  And just to make that shade extra dense, the trees are positively drenched in sheer Spanish moss.
Tumblr media
If there’s one thing Oaklawn is lacking, that would be mausoleums.  It has but one, a rather modest red brick structure with four internment chambers within - two used perhaps, and two definitely unused.  As with much of the rest of the grounds, the structure is not in the best of shape and as it is unlabeled, somewhat mysterious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The visuals throughout Oaklawn are stunning and I imagine many a goth has photos of themselves posing before one or another of the plethora of interesting graves.  For anyone with even a minor interest in photography, the multitude of textures, the interplay of light and shadow, and the fascinating juxtaposition of natural vs artificial offer abundant visual studies.  Here are some examples, minus the goth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The perfect location for the stereotypical goth picnic or just for a late afternoon stroll, contemplating one’s own mortality or just to examine the stone sentinels, Oaklawn doesn’t disappoint.  Although many of the gravestones are worn to silence, some are remarkably well preserved and carry their missives boldly, Entropy be damned.  Take, for example, the obelesk for one John F. Brown who died in 1867, which appears almost new.
Tumblr media
While others...not so much.  Take the shattered slab which covers one Thomas J. Cook, for example - did someone break in, or did someone break out?
Tumblr media
As with most gardens of stone, it is always interesting to visit with the locals.  Let’s meet young Valeria Butzloff, daughter of Paul & Anne who lived from April 29th, 1886 to October 12, 1907, during the height of the Victorian Age.  We are even provided with a remarkably well preserved memorial photograph of the lovely Valeria, likely taken just before her passing.
Tumblr media
To her right lies her father, Paul, who died 11 years later & to her left is a plot for her mother, which doesn’t seem to have been used, but it was prepared and includes a statue, perhaps of Valeria which has sadly lost it’s head, shoulder, and a hand.  Apparently, her mother is interred at nearby Woodlawn Cemetery which was founded in 1888.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s where our knowledge would end, except for the wonders of the world hive mind.  A quick search dispels some of the mists of the past & reveals Valeria’s obituary which lists place of death as Denver; her mortal remains being returned to her grieving parents via one final journey upon this mortal realm.
Tumblr media
Valeria’s story is but one of scores, hundreds, waiting to be discovered.  How Valeria died & under what circumstances seems to be lost to time.  Unless you ask her ghost.  Yes, Oaklawn is said to be haunted, & although Valeria is not thought to be one of apparitions seen, perhaps one of the permanent residents is an acquaintance & can pass along a message.  Regarding that, I’ve been to Oaklawn many times, and have walked by at night many more times, but I never saw anyone of the spectral inclination loitering about.
Or, perhaps I’m just unlucky?

Maryam Mirzakhani, the only woman to have won math’s highest honour
Tumblr media
pxfuel - edited by Marcia Wendorf
In mathematics, the highest award you can receive is the Fields Medal. Created by Canadian mathematician John Charles Fields, it is only awarded once every four years, to a maximum of four mathematicians, and all must be under the age of 40-years-old.
Tumblr media
Fields Medal Source: Stefan Zachow/Wikimedia Commons
While the first Fields Medal was first awarded in 1936, the medal has only been continuously awarded every four years since 1950. Famous recipients include the physicist Edward Witten in 1990 and Russian mathematician Grigori Perelman in 2006, who ultimately declined the medal.
From 1936 and 2014, all the recipients of the Fields Medal had been men, that is until 2014. That’s when an Iranian woman along with Brazilian Artur Avila, Canadian Manjul Bhargava, and Austrian Martin Hairer received a Fields Medal. Meet Maryam Mirzakhani.
Maryam Mirzakhani was born in 1977 in Tehran, Iran. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a writer. During high school, Mirzakhani met her lifelong friend, Roya Beheshti Zavareh, who now teaches mathematics at Washington University in St. Louis. The two girls approached the principal of their all-girls school and asked that the same math problem-solving classes that were taught at the all-boys school be taught at their school.
In 1994, when Mirzakhani was 17, she and Zavareh made the Iranian Mathematical Olympiad team, and Mirzakhani received a gold medal. The following year, Mirzakhani achieved both another gold medal and a perfect score at the International Mathematical Olympiad, which was held in Toronto, Canada that year.
Mirzakhani received a bachelor’s degree from Sharif University in Tehran in 1999, and she and Zavareh wrote a book together entitled, Elementary Number Theory, Challenging Problems, which was published in 1999.

Hyperbolic surfaces Source: Hamish Todd/YouTube
For graduate school, Mirzakhani traveled to Harvard University in the U.S. where she became interested in hyperbolic surfaces, the strange doughnut-shaped objects with two or more holes and saddle points. A curved surface can have a “straight” line segment, known as a geodesic, which is the shortest path between two points. On a hyperbolic surface, some geodesics are infinitely long, while others close up into a loop like the circles on a sphere.
Most geodesics intersect themselves many times before they close up, but a tiny fraction which are called “simple” geodesics, never intersect themselves. Mathematicians had been unable to determine how many simple closed geodesics of a given length a hyperbolic surface could have. Mirzakhani solved that problem in her 2004 Ph.D. dissertation in which she developed a formula for how the number of simple geodesics of length X grows as X gets larger. She also determined a formula for the volume of moduli space, which is the set of all possible hyperbolic structures on a given surface.

If that weren’t enough, Mirzakhani also provided a new proof of an old conjecture that had been proposed by Edward Witten concerning the topological measurements of moduli spaces as it related to string theory. Mirzakhani’s dissertation generated three influential papers which were published in the top mathematics journals. After a stint as a professor at Princeton University, in 2009, Mirzakhani became a professor at Stanford University.
In 2006, Mirzakhani began a collaboration with the University of Chicago's Alex Eskin. Eskin is a 2019 recipient of the Breakthrough Prize. He and Mirzakhani began analysing the range of behaviours of a ball on a polygon-shaped billiard table, where the table’s angles are a rational number of degrees. A rational number can be expressed as the quotient of two integers where the denominator is non-zero.
Mirzakhani and Eskin imagined deforming a billiard table by contracting it along the direction of a billiard ball’s trajectory. This transformed the original table into a succession of new ones which is the moduli space that is comprised of all possible billiard tables having a specific number of sides. At the 2014 Fields Medal award ceremony, American mathematician Jordan Ellenberg explained Mirzakhani’s research as:
“… she studies billiards … She considers not just one billiard table, but the universe of all possible billiard tables. And the kind of dynamics she studies doesn’t directly concern the motion of the billiards on the table, but instead a transformation of the billiard table itself, which is changing its shape in a rule-governed way; … the table itself moves like a strange planet around the universe of all possible tables … it’s what you need to do in order to expose the dynamics at the heart of geometry; for there’s no question that they’re there.”
In 2008, Mirzakhani married fellow professor of mathematics at Stanford Jan Vondrak, and the two went on to have a daughter, Anahita. Mirzakhani’s and Vondrak’s home was littered with large sheets of paper on which she would draw physical representations of the concepts she was thinking about. Her daughter called this “painting”.

In 2013, Mirzakhani was diagnosed with breast cancer, and on July 14, 2017, she died of the disease. Mirzakhani was only 40-years-old.

Following her death, Iranian newspapers, along with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, broke with tradition and published photos of Mirzakhani where she isn’t wearing a head covering. To allow Mirzakhani’s daughter to be able to visit Iran, the Iranian parliament sped up passage of an amendment that allows the children of Iranian mothers who are married to foreigners to receive Iranian nationality.
Before her death, Mirzakhani had become a member of the prestigious National Academy of Sciences, and following her death, the International Council for Science declared May 12th, which is Mirzakhani’s birthday, International Women in Mathematics Day. Tehran’s Sharif University of Technology named their College of Mathematics library after Mirzakhani, and a conference hall in the Iranian city of Isfahan is named after her. The satellite firm Satellogic named a satellite after her.
In November 2019 the Breakthrough Prize Foundation announced a $50,000 prize in Mirzakhani’s honour to be awarded to outstanding women mathematicians. Asteroid 321357 Mirzakhani was named in her memory.
In February 2020, on International Day of Women and Girls in STEM, Maryam Mirzakhani was honored by UN Women as one of seven female scientists, dead or alive, who have shaped our world. Had she lived past the tender age of 40, who knows what Maryam Mirzakhani could have accomplished. Still, she has left a lasting legacy for all women and girls in the fields of mathematics and science.
