the fact Chakotay/Janeway isn't canon is so fucking hilarious. they wrote the most romantic straight couple ever and were like: tee hee. nope. we will pair the guy up with a girl he as exchanged 5 words with. it's so fucking funny like they had even me, friendzone advocator prime, going: aw they are in love and should get together. but nope. dragging 7 into this and coupling her with the one of the two she has the least chemistry with.

While I really don't like "Fury" for obvious reasons re:Kes's mischaracterization, the little moment at the beginning between Janeway and Tuvok always warms my heart. Janeway doing a bit, making Tuvok concerned about anything he might have done wrong; then replicating (correctly! without malfunctions!) the birthday cake with just one candle; the vow to keep the birthday a secret between the two; Tuvok blowing the candle ("it was a fire concern"); and the brightest Janeway smile there is. Love it. Love it. LOVE IT.

This episode is worth it just for that moment alone.

Star Trek Voyager, 7x10 -Flesh and Blood II (version 1)

Hirogen ships wildly outclassed Voyager and the first time Voyager seriously went up against the Hirogen, the crew lost control of the ship and they were forced to participate in various Hirogen hunting games.

The crew barely took back Voyager and Janeway had to give Hirogen the Hologram tech to get them off her ship.

And then in season 7, after the EMH Doctor betrayed Voyager and thoroughly sabotaged the ship. The Engine room was a mess and the only reason Voyager didn't explode is because B'Elanna reinforced the Warp core. And then the holograms kidnap B'Elanna.

Voyager, battered and limping was on a mission to retrieve their two lost crew members. So Janeway decided to use the Hirogen's hunting skill for their benefit and had the best tactic to deal with the Hirogen while Voyager was in no condition for a firefight.

And despite limping all the way while tailing the Hirogen ships, Voyager fought against two Hirogen ships and won.
