I decided to check out the Tiny Toons reboot-I gotta say. It's. Great? Really, really enjoyed it!
Honestly made me realise why I ended up not really vibing with the Animaniacs one after the first season too
Tiny Toons Looniversity has its own complete identity while staying true to the spirit of the original show-the new voices fit it's got some stellar lively animation with great models character faces and the timing is something else
While the new Animaniacs is really. Self-consciously trying to recapture the magic of the original show and it just not only made not comparing them impossible but it failed to stand as its own thing with its own voice TTL doesn't even try to do that
t takes the show's cast and doubles down on the schooling premise which wasn't really a huge focal point of the original show (though making Babs and Buster twins is still weird to me their rapport really works)
It also means the original Looney Tunes are more a thing on this show
I really dig it and if it holds up being this strong it honestly may be up there with DuckTales and She-Ra as a perfect reboot: taking what came before and rather than repeat it expand certain ideas or exploring them in their own distinctive way so they feel like their own entity completely separate from their source
