LECTURE 7: MEET THE BEATLES (PART 2): Dig this fun clip about George Harrison’s youth. This is a guided tour of George’s birthplace and childhood home, 12 Arnold Grove, located in the Liverpool suburb of Wavertree. The tour guide does a terrific job of covering George’s early life, and leaves off with the Harrison’s moving to a house in the Speke industrial development in 1950, located near where the McCartneys resided. The tour guide also tells the story of George’s first meeting with John Lennon. It’s quite amusing.

Beautiful baby bugs...Beatles in Oz
They are so young, and so beautiful, and so happy! "Did you say beautiful? Why yes, yes we were!"
Just two beautiful boys from Speke, walking in a park in Australia and thinking, it would be nice if we could just have a little bit of downtime, alone-time to catch our breath, without cameras, everywhere! And looking exactly like tough boys from Speke, while they think it. Be careful.
Careful! The one with the big shoulders looks like a cinnamon bun, but he'll take you out. If the skinny one doesn't fold you up and eat you like a slice of pizza, first!
"I'm cute but I know krav maga!"
Isn't it remarkable how delicate they look in the first picture, and how rough and ready they are in the second?

I sure do love to go to the thrift store and acquire things!! Today I got a broken (?) little wooden music box, a couple pieces of fabric (one dark pink cotton jacquard and one dark brown and gold sari silk) and also a plate with a picture of the Hartland covered bridge on it.
That's the longest covered bridge in the world, and I've walked across it, and now I can eat sandwiches off it's monochromatic blue image.

LECTURE 7: MEET THE BEATLES (PART 2): In November 2021, the childhood home of George Harrison – “a modest, three-bedroom house near Liverpool,” as Smithsonian magazine described it – went up for auction. Unlike 251 Menlove Avenue (Mendips) and 20 Forthlin Road, George Harrison’s childhood home at 25 Upton Green in Speke was not bought by the National Trust for preservation. Luckily, the story ends happily. The home was purchased by Beatles fan Ken Lambert, an American who resides in New Hampshire, and he is in the process of restoring and preserving it. Lambert decided that purchasing the home was “truly unique opportunity to own the property where George spent his formative years and that played an important part in helping The Beatles flourish.” He plans to eventually open the property for the public. This video consists of a series of images of Harrison’s childhood home.
